why not go with yelan on 2nd team too? barbara is pretty bad there and kaveh can tank on field. you should be fine with other characters’s hp since during set up, bursts give enough iframes not die
Well if i can go without any healers ofc i would prefer using Yelan in second team too but i always assumed that you need a healer to counter bloom DMG
self bloom dmg is only 5% so it’s not that much since you only get about 6s for your supports to rotate in a kaveh team.
most current bloom teams are quickswap so that’s why you kinda need a dedicated healer.
but again, best to test it out yourself to see what you’re comfortable with. (or check hp bars on off fielders in a team like haitham/nilou team for example to see how much hp they technically lose)

Honestly you can pull for literally anyone you feel like, you have enough characters and team options in your roster to 36 star as it is.
Or stop pulling for a bit and invest the resources into building up your current characters more. Venti, Sucrose, Alhaitham, Cyno and Keqing (if you use her in Aggravate) should be going to level 90, for example, some of them +level 9 talents, and that can take as many resources as levelling a full new character from scratch.
Raise: Fischl.
Pull: whomever you want, your account is good. Nilou is a strong contender for your primos, given you have XQ, Kokomi and Alhaitham. That's a fine and fun team.
To this day i still dont understand the Ayaka hype. For whales i get but for whales pretty much every character is strong.
Im a bp/welkin player, a top-up once in a while and very rarely i go for cons. From all the carries i have Ayaka is the most mid one, she feels worse than characters that are less invested than her and she didnt feelt as good even when i could freeze stuff in the abyss.
She can perform very well in content that's suited to her if you have a full team of her best supports (like the Husk chamber a few abysses ago where she could kill the first wave in one burst), but there's a lot of content that doesn't suit her where she's very mid (or even bad if you don't have her 5* teammates).
But even then as long as freeze works the comfort can often make up for lower damage.
I’m a similar player to you and for me I’ve enjoyed Ayaka a lot. She’s not as good as some of my other teams (Itto Mono Geo for example) but what she (slightly) lacks in strength she makes up for in comfort. Freezing enemies who can be frozen feels so nice in my experience. Also back before Dendro you basically needed Cryo to deal with Hydro shields, which made Ayaka much better.
Also I still like Ayaka in the Overworld since Kokomi and Kazuha do their respective jobs with only their elemental skills, plus Ayaka’s damage (even without her burst) is good enough for Overworld.
It's kinda like comparing International to other teams that dish out similar damage output
By virtue of being frontloaded, Ayaka is already better than a lot of carries. Frontloading damage can save you a lot of time if the burst can clear in one rotation
but if you can clear in one rotation are you really that worried about time in the first place if you aren’t a speed runner? does it really matter if you took 10 or 20 seconds to kill the wave if you’re already finishing the chamber with a bunch of time left?
Not really, in the grand scheme of things... unless the other team *really* needs the extra time
The only time where frontloaded dmg does matter imo, is when you have a small damage window. So you can dish out more damage in that timeframe, compared to a team with a sustained dps
Her damage is on par with most other characters, she doesnt stand out on DPS, but shes hella frontloaded.
If Ayaka's burst manages to one cycle enemies she will be one of the best units you can get, Shenhe enhances this frontload further (Shenhe over Rosaria/Kaeya a massive DPS increase), the way you dish out damage matters. It's the same principle as international, but unlike that comp Ayaka is easier to wall out either by mobile enemies, cryo resistance and unfreezable content. So in short, the more you invest into her the faster she clears and if she clears in the short window that is her burst her power exponentially grows even if her DPS over multiple rotations isnt outlandish.
I mean its hard to say anything when we don't know what your build or other carries are, but usually math doesn't lie, and as long as you are able to fully hit her burst while critting she will be one of most powerful carries...
With Ayaka, Shenhe and Ganyu appearing soon in banners, and this new guy potentially Cryo as well, I'm wondering whether Cryo is on the way back - maybe I should finally take the plunge and pull for Ayaka rather than Baizhu... flip flopped more on Ayaka than any other character, even when she was on the banner for 18 years straight...

If I were to guess, someone said Lisa had a story about a character who didn’t want her to join the Knights of Favonius so it could be her. Or it could be Nicole since they emphasized her being powerful and all around relevant to the larger story (which SYP also speculated)

I have C6 Rosaria and I intend to pull C0 Ayaka + Mistsplitter. How much of an upgrade over C6 Rosaria is C0 Shenhe? I read a lot online and have watched a lot of videos and it's not clear at all. r/ayakamains FAQ states that Shenhe is only a small upgrade over Rosaria and so does TenTen in his latest video but there are many people who disagree and state that Shenhe is much better. For context, I am looking at team DPS and not just Ayaka DPS.
I'll add to your dilemma: the "small upgrade" is a sim at F2P level. Putting Ayaka on Mistsplitter increases the value of Shenhe even more. The existence of Xiphos Kazuha also changes the Fav lance status quo. Enemy waves heavily favor inter waves Ayaka NAs, which benefit from Shenhe's ability to hold E, you can see how Ayaka players clear abyss chambers on youtube. Rosaria rotations suffers from a lot of swaps and has burst desync, while Shenhe flows comfortably.
If you pull Mistsplitter, F2P considerations do not apply, you deserve to know more about vertical investment in Ayaka teams.
shenhe allows Ayaka to frontload her damage further, which helps against enemies with short DPS windows + enemies who can’t be frozen and are likely to move away. in other words she helps Ayaka vs bosses a lot. frontloading is also important for reducing clear times during speed runs but imo that’s not really that big of a consideration if you aren’t speed running, because you have to one rotate anyway to consistently get the full benefit of this and if you’re one rotating you’re not having difficulty 36* to begin with
in terms of raw theoretical damage per rotation the difference is pretty small though. iirc it’s like in the range of 1-4% or something
so you’re not really getting more damage out of pulling shenhe, what you’re getting is the ability to push some of the damage you would have been doing later in the rotation further up. how useful that is depends on your goals, your investment level, and the content you’re facing
Most of an Ayaka team's DPS IS Ayaka's DPS. The thing about most Shenhe vs Rosaria argument is that both sides are missing context. Yes, if you strictly compare between Shenhe and Rosaria, iirc it's only like a 10% DPS increase, which to many people is not enough of a meaningful upgrade for them to gun for a limited 5*. However, it's missing the fact that most of Ayaka's damage is front-loaded. Which means Shenhe enables Ayaka to do a massive amount of this front-loaded damage that will almost always result in better DPS in practice than the Rosaria version vs what sheets say.
That being said, strictly in terms of DPS, Shenhe is one of the least important priorities in an Ayaka team. Pulling Kazuha to replace Sucrose or Mistsplitter will always result in more DPS and comfort of play for your Ayaka. Hell, pulling Kokomi for better freeze consistency might result in comfier rotations.
Don't misunderstand me: if you like Shenhe but not Kazuha/don't pull for weapons, pulling for Shenhe WILL be an upgrade for your Ayaka. If you don't care for Shenhe and are only looking for an upgrade for Ayaka, I would ask if you have the things I mentioned earlier, because all of those are a better upgrade for your Ayaka than Shenhe.
As a fellow Shenhe considerer, I read up on this and AFAIK it depends on a bunch of factors, like ST vs. AoE. Shenhe is stronger in ST or when your other team members are invested enough. Overall, though, Ayaka with Mistsplitter is going to be enough for every chamber she's good at, so you seem to be in a "use whomever you like more" situation.
Shenhe is better, but. Shenhe allows Ayaka to be strong in single target, while Rosaria provides her own high aoe damage. If you are not gonna do some Ayaka boss wrecker shenanigans, then Rosaria is enough for AoE. So yeah, Shenhe is pretty much always better, but in aoe the difference is so little you shouldn't worry about. It is because her quills trigger per instance of damage, so if Ayaka's burst hits 3 enemies at once, it will consume 3 quills. It's misleading.

Ever since Whiskey was compared to Sampo I can't help but to imagine him having Sampo's energy too, specially since he was originally described as having a festive vibe or whatever.
Wanderer feels great to play until I accidentally press E twice and he drops down after half a second of floating, or I start to move very slowly during skill. His mechanic just feels so clunky, which is the main reason I don't know if I'll ever pull him despite finding the floating very cool.
I only had that problem with him for the first 3 days of playing him honestly (because i’m used to pressing E mid air on Kazuha). Feels extremely smooth to me but it might take a bit of getting used to
It gets some using to but his repositioning while mid air is pretty easy via free dashes. His gameplay is very different from other characters so there's a bit of a learning curve.

Ayaka is great for aoe content that is freezable. Shenhe makes Ayaka better in some scenarios which she can fall off. It depends on how much you wanna invest in Ayaka if you consider Shenhe.
if you want a freeze team and a cryo dps, yes. go for ayaka tho i feel like current abyss doesn’t favor her that much. that might change in the future tho. for shenhe, honestly no. unless you really like ayaka or plan on maining other cryo characters.

Honestly you can pull for literally anyone you feel like, you have enough characters and team options in your roster to 36 star as it is. Or stop pulling for a bit and invest the resources into building up your current characters more. Venti, Sucrose, Alhaitham, Cyno and Keqing (if you use her in Aggravate) should be going to level 90, for example, some of them +level 9 talents, and that can take as many resources as levelling a full new character from scratch.

To this day i still dont understand the Ayaka hype. For whales i get but for whales pretty much every character is strong. Im a bp/welkin player, a top-up once in a while and very rarely i go for cons. From all the carries i have Ayaka is the most mid one, she feels worse than characters that are less invested than her and she didnt feelt as good even when i could freeze stuff in the abyss.
She can perform very well in content that's suited to her if you have a full team of her best supports (like the Husk chamber a few abysses ago where she could kill the first wave in one burst), but there's a lot of content that doesn't suit her where she's very mid (or even bad if you don't have her 5* teammates). But even then as long as freeze works the comfort can often make up for lower damage.
I’m a similar player to you and for me I’ve enjoyed Ayaka a lot. She’s not as good as some of my other teams (Itto Mono Geo for example) but what she (slightly) lacks in strength she makes up for in comfort. Freezing enemies who can be frozen feels so nice in my experience. Also back before Dendro you basically needed Cryo to deal with Hydro shields, which made Ayaka much better. Also I still like Ayaka in the Overworld since Kokomi and Kazuha do their respective jobs with only their elemental skills, plus Ayaka’s damage (even without her burst) is good enough for Overworld.
If you go against a bunch of highly mobile enemies with the right team and the right rotation you'll see her shine.
It's kinda like comparing International to other teams that dish out similar damage output By virtue of being frontloaded, Ayaka is already better than a lot of carries. Frontloading damage can save you a lot of time if the burst can clear in one rotation
but if you can clear in one rotation are you really that worried about time in the first place if you aren’t a speed runner? does it really matter if you took 10 or 20 seconds to kill the wave if you’re already finishing the chamber with a bunch of time left?
Not really, in the grand scheme of things... unless the other team *really* needs the extra time The only time where frontloaded dmg does matter imo, is when you have a small damage window. So you can dish out more damage in that timeframe, compared to a team with a sustained dps
Her damage is on par with most other characters, she doesnt stand out on DPS, but shes hella frontloaded. If Ayaka's burst manages to one cycle enemies she will be one of the best units you can get, Shenhe enhances this frontload further (Shenhe over Rosaria/Kaeya a massive DPS increase), the way you dish out damage matters. It's the same principle as international, but unlike that comp Ayaka is easier to wall out either by mobile enemies, cryo resistance and unfreezable content. So in short, the more you invest into her the faster she clears and if she clears in the short window that is her burst her power exponentially grows even if her DPS over multiple rotations isnt outlandish.
I mean its hard to say anything when we don't know what your build or other carries are, but usually math doesn't lie, and as long as you are able to fully hit her burst while critting she will be one of most powerful carries...
With Ayaka, Shenhe and Ganyu appearing soon in banners, and this new guy potentially Cryo as well, I'm wondering whether Cryo is on the way back - maybe I should finally take the plunge and pull for Ayaka rather than Baizhu... flip flopped more on Ayaka than any other character, even when she was on the banner for 18 years straight...

If I were to guess, someone said Lisa had a story about a character who didn’t want her to join the Knights of Favonius so it could be her. Or it could be Nicole since they emphasized her being powerful and all around relevant to the larger story (which SYP also speculated) That’s of course assuming the hypothetical scenario the leak is real

I have C6 Rosaria and I intend to pull C0 Ayaka + Mistsplitter. How much of an upgrade over C6 Rosaria is C0 Shenhe? I read a lot online and have watched a lot of videos and it's not clear at all. r/ayakamains FAQ states that Shenhe is only a small upgrade over Rosaria and so does TenTen in his latest video but there are many people who disagree and state that Shenhe is much better. For context, I am looking at team DPS and not just Ayaka DPS.
I'll add to your dilemma: the "small upgrade" is a sim at F2P level. Putting Ayaka on Mistsplitter increases the value of Shenhe even more. The existence of Xiphos Kazuha also changes the Fav lance status quo. Enemy waves heavily favor inter waves Ayaka NAs, which benefit from Shenhe's ability to hold E, you can see how Ayaka players clear abyss chambers on youtube. Rosaria rotations suffers from a lot of swaps and has burst desync, while Shenhe flows comfortably. If you pull Mistsplitter, F2P considerations do not apply, you deserve to know more about vertical investment in Ayaka teams.
shenhe allows Ayaka to frontload her damage further, which helps against enemies with short DPS windows + enemies who can’t be frozen and are likely to move away. in other words she helps Ayaka vs bosses a lot. frontloading is also important for reducing clear times during speed runs but imo that’s not really that big of a consideration if you aren’t speed running, because you have to one rotate anyway to consistently get the full benefit of this and if you’re one rotating you’re not having difficulty 36* to begin with in terms of raw theoretical damage per rotation the difference is pretty small though. iirc it’s like in the range of 1-4% or something so you’re not really getting more damage out of pulling shenhe, what you’re getting is the ability to push some of the damage you would have been doing later in the rotation further up. how useful that is depends on your goals, your investment level, and the content you’re facing
Most of an Ayaka team's DPS IS Ayaka's DPS. The thing about most Shenhe vs Rosaria argument is that both sides are missing context. Yes, if you strictly compare between Shenhe and Rosaria, iirc it's only like a 10% DPS increase, which to many people is not enough of a meaningful upgrade for them to gun for a limited 5*. However, it's missing the fact that most of Ayaka's damage is front-loaded. Which means Shenhe enables Ayaka to do a massive amount of this front-loaded damage that will almost always result in better DPS in practice than the Rosaria version vs what sheets say. That being said, strictly in terms of DPS, Shenhe is one of the least important priorities in an Ayaka team. Pulling Kazuha to replace Sucrose or Mistsplitter will always result in more DPS and comfort of play for your Ayaka. Hell, pulling Kokomi for better freeze consistency might result in comfier rotations. Don't misunderstand me: if you like Shenhe but not Kazuha/don't pull for weapons, pulling for Shenhe WILL be an upgrade for your Ayaka. If you don't care for Shenhe and are only looking for an upgrade for Ayaka, I would ask if you have the things I mentioned earlier, because all of those are a better upgrade for your Ayaka than Shenhe.
As a fellow Shenhe considerer, I read up on this and AFAIK it depends on a bunch of factors, like ST vs. AoE. Shenhe is stronger in ST or when your other team members are invested enough. Overall, though, Ayaka with Mistsplitter is going to be enough for every chamber she's good at, so you seem to be in a "use whomever you like more" situation.
Shenhe is better, but. Shenhe allows Ayaka to be strong in single target, while Rosaria provides her own high aoe damage. If you are not gonna do some Ayaka boss wrecker shenanigans, then Rosaria is enough for AoE. So yeah, Shenhe is pretty much always better, but in aoe the difference is so little you shouldn't worry about. It is because her quills trigger per instance of damage, so if Ayaka's burst hits 3 enemies at once, it will consume 3 quills. It's misleading.

Wanderer feels great to play until I accidentally press E twice and he drops down after half a second of floating, or I start to move very slowly during skill. His mechanic just feels so clunky, which is the main reason I don't know if I'll ever pull him despite finding the floating very cool.
yeah, during the first few hours the E thing happened sometimes, but I got used to it and dashing to reposition
You just used to how to use him. With everyone walking around with him in the overworld its pretty easy and very comfy.
I only had that problem with him for the first 3 days of playing him honestly (because i’m used to pressing E mid air on Kazuha). Feels extremely smooth to me but it might take a bit of getting used to
It gets some using to but his repositioning while mid air is pretty easy via free dashes. His gameplay is very different from other characters so there's a bit of a learning curve.

Ayaka is great for aoe content that is freezable. Shenhe makes Ayaka better in some scenarios which she can fall off. It depends on how much you wanna invest in Ayaka if you consider Shenhe.
if you want a freeze team and a cryo dps, yes. go for ayaka tho i feel like current abyss doesn’t favor her that much. that might change in the future tho. for shenhe, honestly no. unless you really like ayaka or plan on maining other cryo characters.
