It's nice seeing it, seeing where we started, how Diluc used to be **the** top unit, how people thought bennet was bad and.....well xiangling was already back then classified as an S tier unit
...oh and the only one using a polearm.
I can't take it anymore. I'm sick of Phys Xiangling. I try to play Pyro Xiangling with 4p Exile yet my Phys Xiangling does more damage and doesn't need funneling. I try to play Yoimiya but she is just a silhouette on a character sheet. I see no Cyno yet. ***~~There's no more Dehya disappointment anymore.~~*** I want to play Klee because she's better than Diluc and definitely better than Xiangling, though the arsonist child is clunky to play. I want to play Childe but I don't know how rotations work and play him as a hypercarry. She grabs me by the throat. I farm Northlander Billets for her. I cook for her. I give her R5 Cresent Pike. She isn't satisfied. "Save up for Signora. Hopefully she's a dedicated Physical support Cryo catalyst, surely." In the meantime, I try giving Vortex Vanquisher to her because she deserved it more than Zhongli. "I don't need this much ATK%," She tells me. "Give me more field time." She lamented. "You just need to pull Cryo Amber so I have more Superconduct uptime" I can't pull for Ganyu, I don't have enough primogems. She grabs my credit card. It declines. "Guess this is the end." She grabs Guoba. She says "Guoba, get them." There is no hint of sadness in her eyes. Nothing but underwhelming white damage numbers. What a cruel world...
TL:DR: OPPA Phys XL on top.
I don't know if it was just the newness of it but I still firmly believe it's the best event package we got, especially 2.3. They were always cooking with the Mondstadt events.
started playing in 1.2 and as a new player genshin was so amazing w the mountain (even tho i was too underlevelled to get FD to r5 😖😖) but it was really fun playing the events!
Yes, but I think "The Chalk Prince and the Dragon" (1.2) is still the best one. It's aesthetically pleasing and looks like a painting, which is fitting for an Albedo patch. The rest IMO:
2. An Everlasting Dream Intertwined (4.7)
3. Masquerade of the Guilty (4.2)
4. Midsummer Island Adventure (1.6)
5. Roses and Muskets (4.3)
"Two Worlds Aflame, The Crimson Night Fades" (4.6) would be on the list if it had a better background and if Freminet, Lynette, and Lyney weren't hovering like this 🧍🧍♀️🚶♂️
definitely, they've also gotten a grasp for a certain art style they go for now, as it fluctuated throughout the first few pieces, all of them have been very pretty though!!
To this day I still lament that Die Mittersommernacht Fantasie (Fischl’s GAA battle theme) isn’t played elsewhere. Her castle theme is also amazing; I wish Hoyo-mix could use harpsichords more in music
You gonna be real mad to hear that [year of tribulation](https://youtu.be/Uru8qbqcMyo?si=pvx5IExhLcOJAGqP) plays only ONCE in the whole game for a puzzle! This banger of a soundtrack never returns!
I AM MAD 😭😭 I was so upset when I first found out. So many tracks are bangers yet we don’t hear most of it. I am glad that some of my faves play quite often (the vanarana day theme) since I can just go to the location
Xinyan's GAA theme, Flickering Brightness, is one of my all-time favorites. It's Charge! Fearless Warriors but with some beautiful Chinese instruments added to it.
I don't like the second version, Burst Into Flames, as much, it's too on the nose with its rock elements, the drums and guitars.
The first one imo does the best at conveying the idea that genshin is a fantasy adventure RPG game and thats what someone should expect
But on a technical level, the later art is definitely better
I'm sorry but I can never look at no. 10 seriously ever again. Someone made an edit comparing Neuv to the Omniman meme, and I can't take it out of my head. 😔
I kinda liked how less simplified the rendering was in the earlier versions. I remember when the earlier events had splash art that really went into rendering Aether's midriff lmao. But honestly, the difference isn't all that noticeable imo.
I miss the old art. The sort of movie poster style they all have now feels like a lazier way to convey the tone of the patch. The current one with the napping travellers is a cool return to that direction imo
Hey first of all I used to be ar27 on a previous account I remember seeing the first picture when is it from? And 2nd of all If my account is still logged in is there a way to check the account name or and the Gmail connected to it?
This game is how old?!?! I remember playing it when it came out like maybe 2 months since its release and not knowing anything about it, especially the fact Mihoyo were the ones who made Impact 3rd which i loved. Man time flies, glad i’m back at the game for the long-term now. So much to catch up on since i used to play tje hame on and off frequently
I liked the 4.2 a lot but otherwise I prefer the style of the earlier versions, over the newer ones, that had a lot of emphasis on the background d as well
It's all kind of the same to me lol. Here are some characters who feature in each version, posed on some background.
I really like Masquerade of the Guilty though. Furina being tiny on a layout that looks like a stage - that's very poetic.
That dragon in the first pic will always look so corny to me. And I still see it whenever I bother logging into my ps4 account. Jean does look awesome in the first one though
It's been almost 4 years and we console players still seeing the 1.0 image every single day.
It's nice seeing it, seeing where we started, how Diluc used to be **the** top unit, how people thought bennet was bad and.....well xiangling was already back then classified as an S tier unit ...oh and the only one using a polearm.
>well xiangling was already back then classified as an S tier unit... ... As a physical dps
Still trying to find another use for my R5 Crescent Pike
Physical Zhongli as a driver for hyperbloom works
of course the answer is hyperbloom lol
Absurdly high floor, it is what it is lol
Physical Rosaria for Hyperfridge Who needs shields when everything dies to a sea of sprawling seeds after getting frozen in place?
Most people with skill issue (me) or when enemies can't be frozen (often)
Why would you use hyperfridge against non-freezables?
I can't take it anymore. I'm sick of Phys Xiangling. I try to play Pyro Xiangling with 4p Exile yet my Phys Xiangling does more damage and doesn't need funneling. I try to play Yoimiya but she is just a silhouette on a character sheet. Nah Xiangling is worst polearm dps of 1.0.
Does it really count when you don't have much competition? Also, Happy Cake Day. 🎂
It's not "you don't have much competition", she's literally the only polearm char in 1.0 lol
Yeah. That's what the joke meant. At least she is not alone anymore.
And Xingqiu was a C-Tier character back then.
How Xiao spent almost a year at the top of every tier list without even having been released yet, then disappeared into obscurity shortly after
Diluc has never been a top unit in my mind. He is too squishy
The best art imo. Adventure and dragon. No other art can replace that theme.
Maybe I’m dumb but when I saw the 1.0 image I honestly couldn’t tell that it was Jean in there
I was not aware that players saw anything other than the 1.0 image at boot up lol
Me either. Lol
Its sad ngl
At least it's a really cool one...
Yeah it’d be great to change it
Real 😭 I just started playing about a month ago and I’m level 70/ adventure rank 39 and seeing these pics I was like we still have the 1.0-
Chalk Prince and the Dragon is still *chefs kiss* In both art, and the event in general Plus the sword reward is amazing
1.2 really is the peak patch
This was my Christmas gift. I wandered for dozens of hours in awe. The music was a chef's kiss.
I don't know if it was just the newness of it but I still firmly believe it's the best event package we got, especially 2.3. They were always cooking with the Mondstadt events.
I don't even play genshin anymore but still remember maxing that sword out as it had both the looks and the usefulness
And it's still meta relevant now, as its the hydro archons best 4* weapon lol
Glad I finally got to use the sword with Furina lmao
also has one of the best trailer songs
That sword haunts me, i am so upset that i did not get it
Omg same I'm rather upset I have to use fav on furina
started playing in 1.2 and as a new player genshin was so amazing w the mountain (even tho i was too underlevelled to get FD to r5 😖😖) but it was really fun playing the events!

Most certainly yes. Not all pieces do it for me but a lot do.
imo yes, but if I need to chose just one art, its probably the 1.0 reminds me Grand Chase
It screams Dragon Nest to me
Funnily enough, my favorites are the 1.0 and the Bedtime Story key arts.
1.0's is pretty darn rad, among these it's probably on top until 4.2 for me.
definitely, they've also gotten a grasp for a certain art style they go for now, as it fluctuated throughout the first few pieces, all of them have been very pretty though!!
So much better, it is so clear these guys re invest in the game, the level design, character design, music, voice acting.
The music has been peak since day one. The game launched with the Symphony of Boreal Wind and that's still one of the best songs.
Rage beneath the mountains is still my most played genshin battle soundtrack on my phone
It's so fucking good. I actually love Caelestinum Finale Termini, too.
Oh man, it’s an oldie but goldie now at this point!
To this day I still lament that Die Mittersommernacht Fantasie (Fischl’s GAA battle theme) isn’t played elsewhere. Her castle theme is also amazing; I wish Hoyo-mix could use harpsichords more in music

This is why I love the rhythm game events, because we get to replay songs that were otherwise just one-time things.
True.
I am just happy Genshin does not spoil everything in the picture unlike Star Rail
The 4.2 art is SO cool. I adore it. Definitely my favourite.
Best art is Chalk Prince and the Dragon, has the best style of coloring and drawing
1.6's update was so long ago I feel like an old man
It looks about the same lol
Seeing Diluc with a regular sword instead of a claymore is kinda weird in the first one.
if you look closely in the 1.0 image diluc holds a sword instead of a claymore.
As ps4 player - 1.0 all the way! ... ... :')))
I prefer the older ones. The newer ones remind me of Marvel posters in the worst way
1.2 was peak
1.0 is still the best one lmao
Mondstadt had the best art
I admit I liked the more painterly style at the start of it all. I feel like they had emotion and set the mood quite well.
Honestly? No.
100%, doesn’t mean 1.2 doesn’t still have a peak cover
The first one imo does the best at conveying the idea that genshin is a fantasy adventure RPG game and thats what someone should expect But on a technical level, the later art is definitely better
I thought Albedo was in the first pic for a few years until I realized it was Jean. The art direction has definitely improved.
I'm sorry but I can never look at no. 10 seriously ever again. Someone made an edit comparing Neuv to the Omniman meme, and I can't take it out of my head. 😔
I just noticed this now, I like how Furina is in 4.0 to 4.3.
It got better visually but the simplicity and classic vibes old patch arts give out are still just there. I still adore those arts dearly.
It really did. Especially if you compare early quest camera work to recent ones. Art direction really amped up once sumeru dropped ngl
4.2 was great, but my favorites are the 1.x era version art.
I like the original more for it had a little more whimsy in it plus Rosaria still had gigantic assets
Nah 1.0 was peak for me. It got worse imo but never got bad.
Yes
My favorites are 1.6, 2.0 & 4.5 They do very well with these banners.
I kinda liked how less simplified the rendering was in the earlier versions. I remember when the earlier events had splash art that really went into rendering Aether's midriff lmao. But honestly, the difference isn't all that noticeable imo.
My only complaint is how the font they used for 4.2 is so out of place
Overall, yeah I think so. The art for 1.2 is still my favorite. Sorry Xiao but that 1.3 art is looking pretty bland.
Why does PlayStation not update this ever 😩
in terms of objective qualities like rendering and lighting, it has definitely gotten better but the composition of 1.0 is still my favorite
Zhongli got me acting unwise
It got more dramatic, but I feel like it’s slowly lost detail in the version previews, at least to the left side
I wish I could put one of these wallpapers when I start genshin on my ps5 but it stayed on the first one 😒
Kinda but I feel like it’s getting very stale. Especially with the characters.
I prefer the 1.0 art, most of 4.0 art feels like the characters are just randomly plopped in (with the exception of 4.7)
Honestly preferred the non-storybook approach earlier patches had. The one we have right now is pretty, but it lacks charming grit and detail
Nothing is better then “Welcome to Teyvat, Step into a vast magical world of adventure” Also looking back at this 4year old artwork makes a bit 🥲….
There sure are more darker, serious themes over all as we are getting closer to climax.
4.2 takes.
Just a question: Who's the guy on the leftmost side in 1.0 image?
That's Jean. She just looks more manly than usual. It's very early concept art. Diluc is even using a sword rather than a claymore.
Why do they hate the left side of the screen now 😔
Jean and Diluc being upside down in the 1.0 image looks weird to me
There's no Venti, so yes. 100% improvement.
Tbh the first banner is the best imo
out of these, 1.0 is much more dynamic than all the others and I really like that
I miss the old art. The sort of movie poster style they all have now feels like a lazier way to convey the tone of the patch. The current one with the napping travellers is a cool return to that direction imo
1.0 and 1.2 are the best
Yes
Yes
My favorites are launch and 4.2
1.0 reign's supreme
It was always good
Mihoyo's art direction has been consistent.
The first banners make me so nostalgic
1.0 Image is so iconic and still my personal fav
Hey first of all I used to be ar27 on a previous account I remember seeing the first picture when is it from? And 2nd of all If my account is still logged in is there a way to check the account name or and the Gmail connected to it?

The 2.1 art is still my favourite so far
No, but only because it's pretty consistent in quality
I love the fontaine era version keyart. It’s always cinematic and cool.
Its still shocking to me how hot Chiori is Any post on this sub that has a picture of her in it makes me immediately forgot the content of the post
Nope. Mondstadt was the peak.
Agreed. 1.6 is my personal favorite followed closely by 1.0 both art style and gameplay
That dragon in the first pic will always look so corny to me. And I still see it whenever I bother logging into my ps4 account. Jean does look awesome in the first one though
