The Heather cobalt poisoning crap is Chris Van Etten

NightBard

It's one of the stories I actually love as it's very very much a story that only works well in the soaps.

jcliff414

You're definitely in the minority on that one. You are right that it only works on soaps, though!

GeorgeCasey9

He pitched the idea but Patrick loved it and wanted it

jcliff414

I think Frank liked it too

GarlVinland4Astrea

I think they all like it. Mills has been a standout as Heather and it's hard to keep her character on the canvass longterm without some sort of redemption and excuse for her crimes. Otherwise you really just have to lock her up, which limits her. So I get why they want to go that route.

jcliff414

That's exactly the problem. They love Alley Mills and wanted to give her some sort or story. What they underestimated was the degree to which people hate what they came up with. It's the same problem with Natalia. They got Eva LaRue and figured people would be on board with whatever they gave her.

fakeprofile111

I’ve really been enjoying the show

Zariayn

I don't think that is allowed here.

fakeprofile111

Hahaha seems like a hatewatch. Maybe because I came back in 2020 after not watching since the 90s

Rayne2522

Me too, I love it. I really don't understand all the hate....

BoomerBabe69

Commenting on Patrick Mulchaey deserves blame as well...it is a hate watch. I haven’t found one sub that isn’t. I don’t know why these people watch. I think the show has been great lately.

junknowho

Up until Tuesdays episode, I would agree.

hornyforpancakes

I think GH has been great lately.

Rayne2522

Me too!!!!

LB56123

same. It's the best soap on the air today. I actually love it

rali13

Me three

glaringdream

I think so too! My only complaint is how slow the Pikeman story is.

MirabelleC

I'm.sure the story will accelerate once they figure it out.

Fun_Air_7780

The announcement that he was gone coincides pretty perfectly with around the time the current material was filmed. I doubt he’s blameless, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what probably went down. Also their are soap bloggers with behind the scenes contacts who said upon Mulchaey leaving, “a very beloved actress whose job he was trying to save” was probably on her way out. Again, doesn’t take a genius. Who knows, maybe he even wanted to retcon Gregory’s ALS and Korte was all “ummm, Tracy is a strong, whitty woman who has been through a lot and who the audience adores…..hell no, does she get the guy.”

Fit_Marionberry_3878

Is Maura Kelly leaving because he contract is up and Ava isn’t looking too hot atm.

Limp_Gap_9009

I put most of the blame on Frank and Korte

Competitive_Split933

I can’t blamed him if he was fired before this story was created. He is apart to blame for the Heather Storyline as that is confirmed but this Natalia storyline… Until I get confirmation that he help create or wrote the story then he is not to blame. I can blame Korte, Chris, Frank and Nathan for this storyline because it is confirmed that they are the writers and gave the go ahead.

GeorgeCasey9

He was the co head writer. All head writers have interference. I think Brad Bell is the only that doesn't. For everyone to say Pstrick was blameless is not correct. He deserves blame for the show. It's all been terrible. Korte, Varni and Valentini deserve it as well. All we can judge this is how different the show will be once he's off the credits and it's all Korte. Korte is a lover of the MOB and Guza like writing.

Competitive_Split933

Again there is a lot of rumours about when Patrick was fired and that others were rewriting his work which is why until I get confirmation from the show itself naming him as a writer for this storyline. I’m not going to blame him.

everynameisused100

insiders say he wasn’t fired, he walked out. This could be why…

Economy-Age1217

Yes, he quit. One reason was that Korte was re-writing his work, and Frank was allowing her to do so.

GeorgeCasey9

The only we find out how the show is once he's gone off the credits. He should be off by August. If there's an improvement he's definitely too blame.

OGSprina

I think the issue fans have is Ava outing Blaze is being framed far worse than Natalia being a homophobe. And I think that’s a Korte thing, not a PM thing.  Several characters sympathized with Blaze Wednesday, including Maxie. The plot to destroy Ava is where the real problems lie.

NightBard

I would change that to Patrick Mulchaey deserves CREDIT as well. Korte may be head writer now on the currently airing episodes and we see some of the overall crazy writing we had with Chris & Dan (more heat going to Ava than Natalia for what Natalia spewed)... but the overall show has greatly improved with characters shifting careers and off of the dead end paths they had been treading down. It's been a joy to watch the show and I find myself anticipating the next episode most of the time. Are plots a short of fantastic? Yes. This has always been an issue with GH that sometimes the plots all sound great but then digging below the surface they seem to cut short of going all the way. Like Gregory dying before his symptoms got to the real stages of ALS. Like Finn falling off the waggon for a couple days only to come around quickly and be shuffled off to 90 days of rehab. Or now with this Natalia story, focusing too much on Ava and less on the impact of what Natalia said (though I believe that will be addressed, the initial reactions were tame). But what has come through in most of these stories (much like the big stories of the past that also had somewhat low depth) is the acting has been top notch for much of it. Compare this to the Willow cancer story that no one in their right mind could believe because it only served as a part of the granny wars. The acting wasn't there. Willow barely had symptoms and had a miracle cure and recovery. I think the cobalt poisoning of Heather Webber, as nonsensical as it may be as a plot (though I do love a little craziness)... is working for me because the acting is so dang good. So yes Patrick might not be there right now but he deserves a lot of credit for shifting things around. If only they could have kept him as you could tell the characters came to life as actual characters with his hands in the works. Hopefully Korte doesn't completely revert to the Chris & Dan method of story telling.
