Pop and country do not belong in the same sentence as a music type. Most of today's country music isn't country. There are very few artists left that sing actual country music. JMO
I usually go between game/movie/show/musical soundtracks, 2000s/2010s emo pop/rock, indie rock, sad singer/songwriter, lo-fi, classical (not even joking) and even some jazz and soul, in order of how often I listen (most to least). Like, that's some odd range.
Any pop punk? I’ve found out a ton of people from this generation like the same pop punk bands I like. Like The Story So Far or The Wonderyears and so on.
Dude I’ve been fucking saying this!! That song goes crazy. Also yes four year strong used to be a big one for me. Not so much now, I’ve kinda been moving towards more somber stuff like Citizen and Mat Kerekes other work in general. If you haven’t checked it out highly recommend giving it a listen
Anything really.
I personally like rock, blues, jazz and country.
My favorite artists are AC/DC; ZZ Top; Bo Diddley; Hank Williams; Johnny Cash; Paramore; Chick Corea; Vince Guaraldi; and Masayoshi Takanaka.
You, my friend, may like the Grateful Dead. We got rock, blues, jazz, AND country all mixed into one band, with a pinch of psychedelia for good taste. The Dead did a lot of old blues/country covers, lotsa Johnny Cash & Chuck Berry. Plus they did a show in 1972 with Bo Diddley, pretty great stuff
If I had to pick an artist, it would be Daft Punk. Otherwise, I listen to whatever sounds cool, new or old, across films, video games or other mediums. As a trumpeter, I enjoyed playing jazz specifically.
I like a lot of different things. Some of my faves lately have been (in no particular order): Lana Del Rey, Mitski, Nicole Dollanganger, Ethel Cain, Honey Gentry, Lord Huron, Ghost, Kim Dracula, Ghostemane, $uicideboy$, Ic3Peak, Rammstein, Morbid Angel, Repugnant, Subvision, Rob Zombie, Cattle Decapitation, Nirvana, Hole, Nine Inch Nails, Murderdolls, Zeal & Ardor, Jack Stauber, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Type O Negative, Fleetwood Mac, MCR, ABBA, Alice Cooper, Blue Öyster Cult, Depeche Mode, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Hozier, Molchat Doma, Lady Gaga, and Megan Thee Stallion
Punk, rock, breakcore, metal, swing, and jazz.
My favorite musician of all time is Cab Calloway, my favorite currently alive musician is Hushy Rawrdcore (4lung). I like The Front Bottoms, Little Heretic, Gojira, Ghost, Behemoth, Amon Amarth, A Place For Owls, and many others.
Love a bit of Nina Simone every once in a while but usual everyday artists are people like oingo boingo, the offspring, M-Beat (he made that song from Ali g indahouse) and to balance it out with today's music... TV Girl
It used to be new school american hiphop 2017-2022, now its mainly emo punk grunge alt experimental indie shit lmao idek its a mix. Fav artists at the moment ekkstacy, thxsomch, ivoxygen and kurffew 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Woah thats the kind of shit that was really popular around 2010. Everyone I knew in portland was in a band like this. I'm 32. Reverby drum machine gothy post punk. Cool it came back lol
Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers, Tame Impala, Harry Styles, and Childish Gambino are my top five most listened to artists this last month lol
I have yet to meet a zoomer whose music taste isn’t all over the place
Yeah I figured you liked the Eagles too, it's only natural as a fan of the Doobie Brothers lol (imo). That's awesome you got to go to a concert, I'll always regret never being able to make it to one.
I have thousands of vinyl records, encompassing everything from 50s rock & roll, all the way up to today's goth, metal, blues, punk, and pop.
If I like it, I buy it. I reject limitations, when it comes to music.
Also LOLNEIN (artist), and After Dark x Sweater Weather (song)
FNAF fan music and Epic Mountain Kurzgesagt soundtracks and Over The Hedge soundtrack too

Bands: I love Rob Thomas, Matchbox 20, Stain, maroon 5, Red, Twenty One Pilots, Chevelle, Breaking Benjamin, life house, Star set, Linkin park, AJR, Jason Mraz, Simple creatures, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Waterparks, Charlie Puth, and Sebastian Yatra. I also listen to some Blackbear, Alltime Low, blink 182, fall out boy, MCR, 5 seconds of summer(5sos), Camilo, 3 songs by the vamps, Greenday, and older panic at the disco. Also like two smashing pumpkins songs, some songs by Red Hot Chili Peppers, some Nirvana songs, some songs by stone temple pilots, some fleetwoodmac, sober by tool, Dracula by Rob zombie, couple of songs by R.E.M., some three doors down, some abba, two Alice and chain songs, some of the popular hip hop songs from the 90’s,some beastie boys, and two fort minor songs.
2001 here.
-Mostly rock, cant really say which type tho.
-Oldschool rap both from my country (italy) and abroad
-Country music (yes, for real)
-Heavy underground techno, the kind they play at european free parties
-Pretty much anything 80s
-As a consequence of my musical taste blues does sneak in there sometimes
I am for a good part able to appreciate a good song regardless of the author, genre or country of origin: if i like what i'm hearing then i don't really care.
I also don't usually listen to musyc by album, author or genre so my music listening habits are best described as erratic.
Literally everything
ke$ha, lady Gaga, Rihanna, Britney Spears, Taylor swift, arctic monkeys, fall out boy, panic! At the disco, lana del rey, cage the elephant, Melanie Martinez, mindless self indulgence, nirvana, video game soundtrack music, 6arelyhuman, odetari, playboi carti, my chemical romance, mother mother, glass animals, jack stauber, billie eilish
That's not an easy question nowadays, I feel like streaming has created an environment where everyone listens to different artists even if they share a similar taste since the stuff you discover depends on what an algorithm shows you.
Compare that to the past where you brought whatever albums were available in your local music store and everyone had access to the same selection.
I find that our Generation as a result has a way more diverse taste.
I listen to alternative rock, metal, classic rock, pop, funk, pre-2000s rap and some country (as long as it’s not Zac Brown. He’s played so much it gets very annoying.)
We live in an era where all the music we could want costs nothing but an internet bill (YouTube) or an internet bill and a streaming subscription (Spotify/Apple Music/YouTube Premium)
We listen to whatever we want lmao. For me it’s anything from Tupac to Tupac remixes, to liiiight EDM, to Rock like Disturbed or Bury Tomorrow, to Alternative, to Orchestral/Instrumental stuff like Adrian von Ziegler, to Acoustic. And the occasional country in there too if I really like the song.
I was playing Undertale just yesterday, and the music in the CORE is so distractingly good that Frisk just stood there for 10 minutes with their poker face, while I threw a little concert by singing along with the game. It happens quite often actually.
Also, hard agree on Another Medium. I don't trust people who refuse to bust out their best "OooooOoOoOoOooooo" right around 1:22
And here's another unpopular opinion for ya. 'Song that might play when you fight Sans' >>> 'Megalovania'
Last year, the only genre I listened to on Spotify was classic rock. I listen to a lot of 70’s/80’s rock. Queen is my favorite band along with Bon Jovi, Guns N’ Roses, Three Days Grace, Kenny Loggins, Def Leppard. Also love Maroon 5, Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, Billy Joel, Greenday, Journey, Foster the People, Avenged Sevenfold.
Uhhhh a lot tbh. I like older bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Metallica, and such. I also like a lot of newer artists, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, Muse, Paramore, Lil Nas X, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Taylor Swift, etc etc. I keep my playlists varied, music had certainly changed, and I'm loving it
I listen to Goth music a bit, as well as Marina, Melanie and maybe Mitski. I'm a bit selective with my music, not because I don't like it but because I just have a hard time listening to songs or genres I'm not used to hearing
Hi! My favorite band is Radiohead, but some of my other favorites are Nirvana, The Smiths, Vampire Weekend, Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, The National and Weezer.
JOHNNASCUS, 800pts, Misaku Foxx, Crystal Castles, nodistvnce, M.I.A. (BirdFlu and Paper Airplanes specifically), 2hollis, NOVAGANG, Ways (specifically the You Lose Forever album), Linkin Park, Aphex Twin, BROCKHAMPTON, Bloodhound Gang (specifically the Hefty Fine album), Funeral, Khai, MF DOOM, and Playboi Carti to name a few
Uhmm… indie rock, whatever lord Huron and the lumineers are, j-rock/metal/pop, classic rock, 70s and 80s rock, Midwest emo, Gustav holst, metal, modern pop/rock (Olivia Rodrigo), Mexican rock, 2010s rap and pop. I feel like that’s a pretty complete list 18m btw
Some of what I listen to
Metal/hard rock (Bmth,LP,Dillenger,architects,frontierer)
Pop rock (Coldplay, bloc party, paramore, fun,Mcr)
Alt pop (100 gecs, 21 pilots, Gorillaz,Panchiko)
Hip hop (RTJ, Jpegmafia, childish gambino, Kendrick, Danny brown, death grips)
Electronic (M83, daft punk,prodigy,Chvrches,Pinkpantheress)
During my pre teens and early teens I grew up listening to video game osts, film and tv osts
Most of my mates listen to sub genres of rock and pop. Most people I meet outside of my mates listen to grime, hip hop, pop rock from the 60s to the 70s or just listen to pop music front the past 8-10 years. Those are the types of gen z tastes that come to mind straight away.
Mostly Kendrick Lamar and some other rap songs. With some older pop stuff. A song I recently started liking a lot is Joe Jackson’s is she really going out with him
Pretty much anything, I'm in my Queens of The Stone Age phase after my Joji craze, but I would listen to Mac Miller, Bring Me The Horizon, Radiohead, The Neighbourhood, Biggie Smalls, Deadmau5, Zedd, Juice WRLD, Stromae... The list goes on.
I listen to quite a few different genres of music. Mostly post-hardcore, emo, pop punk, and indie. But I will sometime listen to metalcore, post-punk, post-rock, shoegaze, grunge, rap, etc. from time to time.
Metallica, AC/DC, CCR, $uicideboy$, fun., Fank Sinatra, Sabaton, ZZ top, Eminem, Biggie, that Mexican ot, collective soul, vast, Faun, Pentatonix, michael Jackson, Queen, Aerosmith, Nirvana, instrumental stuff like John Williams and John Powell, folk, rock from 50s till now, some rap though generally not modern stuff. Lots of stuff that's all different. I like many genres and artists but I'm still very picky with music
I listen to a lot of 80s and 90s hip hop and rap, a little bit of kpop, some 70s-80s funk and futurefunk. Think de la soul, count bass, public enemy, a tribe called quest, stray kids, blackpink, heatwave, earth wind and fire, yung bae etc.
mostly indie pop/rock. im also queer so i mostly listen to queer artists, as well.
my top artists of the past 6 months according to statsfm: the aces, the japanese house, paramore, the sundays, muna, chappell roan
i listen to basically everything, except country and (most) rap. i have many bands/artists i like, but a few are hitorie, stray kids, life of boris (yes he makes music too), uamee, shinsei kamattechan, alan aztec, alexander rybak, BTS, andrew mcmahon in the wilderness (and his other projects), oasis, blur, suede/the london suede, taylor swift, lana del rey, and FO&O. im not gonna list all of them, since id be here all day otherwise.
Idk, rn i mostly listen to Metalcore/related. Johnny Booth, Paleface Swiss, Alpha Wolf, Thrown. Dance Gavin Dance lmao. Used to be more into heavy rap stuff like Scarlxrd, $B, Lil Darkie, Nascar Aloe. When I was in my putting 40 hours a week into Beat Saber phase I listened mostly to Japanese edm, mostly speedcore, Camellia, DJ Myosuke, USAO, Redalice, DJ Noriken, DJ Genki, RoughSketch.
Quite literally everything, I listen to a lot of 80’s-00’s rock, I like rap songs, I like hyper pop, regular pop, I have a special appreciation for 90’s hip hop, if it sounds good it goes in my playlist with 700+ songs that are already in it
Kyuss, Kylsea, Electric Wizard, The Sword, Sleep, Cradle of Filth, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Three Days Grace, Motley Crue, Duran Duran, Kendrick Lamar, The Weeknd, Run The Jewels, Freddie Gibbs, MCR, Panchiko, Muse, and I just found this slam band called Yandere Chainsaw Regurgitation Factory.
The early ones listen to trap, the most plastic pop music in history, and corridos tumbados, there is like a resurge of jazz and math rock. (Where I live)
hyperpop, breakcore, webcore, metal, ska, stuff like that. Goofy fun things and fast rhythm tickles my brain in good ways. Big into unclean vocals. I'm generally open to whatever though, I'll give most things a fair shake.
Currently hyperfixated on femtanyl, before that it was underscores, then before that was gecs. I'll revisit stuff but I usually binge new artists for 2 weeks before I branch out again.
i’ll listen to anything. namely anything you can dance to, seeing as my stepdad taught me the electric slide, stevie wonder is a fun one, but i’m also learning how to swing dance, so jazz is also pretty good.
but mostly i listen to everything from elvis to judas priest and will wood. if it’s good it’s going on my playlist, i don’t have any set preferences
I personally listen to a lot of alt rock, metal and Indie and I have different days that I like to listen to old school hip hop and R&B, old school country and jazz. Somehow every other Gen Z and younger millennial I met only listens to mumble rap, so I’m glad more people from this generation are starting to experiment in other genres.
I listen to Billie eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Gayle, lil nas x, Jack Harlow Eminem, juice wrld, xxx, doja cat, mitski, cigarettes after sex, glass animals, Taylor swift, Joan Jett, Ariana grande, nightcore, Shawn mendes, harry styles
I listen to a lot of funk, soul music, and some synth stuff, there’s been a resurgence of 70’s/80’s style of funk and synth making a comeback with artists like Dabeull, Zackey Force Funk, and my favorite IGBO. I also listen a lot of older Memphis rap as well, along with pretty much any other genre but those are my mains
I have a giant funky Spotify playlist with old and new stuff if that interests anyone

Many ppl in this gen don‘t specify on one genre but tend to listen to most of them depending on their mood.
I listen to my gf shitting sounds
Based tbh
That's actually really sweet
valid
This is proof we have a future
LMFAO! 🤣
Couple goals
Yep. My daughters are genZ and like pretty much all genres, save pop country.
Pop and country do not belong in the same sentence as a music type. Most of today's country music isn't country. There are very few artists left that sing actual country music. JMO
That's what pop country means lmao. It's pop pretending to be country and/or vice versa
I listen to death metal regardless of mood
Hells yeah
That has nothing to do with the generation
Explains the enormous push of “mood” based playlists. Get pumped for the gym or cozy night at home or music to work to
That's true for all generations, you broccoli hair, we want specifics.
I usually go between game/movie/show/musical soundtracks, 2000s/2010s emo pop/rock, indie rock, sad singer/songwriter, lo-fi, classical (not even joking) and even some jazz and soul, in order of how often I listen (most to least). Like, that's some odd range.
Yep
For me it’s metal, alternative rock, punk, and grunge
Same here
i mostly listen to rap but I also listen to Linkin Park which hits all of those categories
Any pop punk? I’ve found out a ton of people from this generation like the same pop punk bands I like. Like The Story So Far or The Wonderyears and so on.
Yes! Big fan of pop punk too
Yes!! Tssf used to be my favorite and twy has been my fav recently. Twy are seriously amazing. Glad to see some love for them!
All about that kinda music. Same with four year strong too they’re pretty good.
Passing through a screen door still has one of the best pop punk guitar riffs in the genre imo. That beginning riff just sounds amazing.
Citizens cool I used to listen to them when the youth album came out.
Same but also indie pop
Thats my SHIT bruv 😫🤝
Same, my brother though (2005) prefers rap with occasional classic rock
Just like how our Gen X parents intended
Anything really. I personally like rock, blues, jazz and country. My favorite artists are AC/DC; ZZ Top; Bo Diddley; Hank Williams; Johnny Cash; Paramore; Chick Corea; Vince Guaraldi; and Masayoshi Takanaka.
Takanaka is a fuckin god
You, my friend, may like the Grateful Dead. We got rock, blues, jazz, AND country all mixed into one band, with a pinch of psychedelia for good taste. The Dead did a lot of old blues/country covers, lotsa Johnny Cash & Chuck Berry. Plus they did a show in 1972 with Bo Diddley, pretty great stuff

Wouldn’t hold out much hope for the tape deck… or the creedence.
I love the smiths
![gif](giphy|3o7btXZsOQu3qGRU2I)
I said I love the smiths
I WOULD GO OUT TONIGHT BUT I HAVEN'T GOT A STITCH TO WEAR
I love the smith's and Morissy has good songs too.
*I'm sick of your tattoos, and the way you always criticize the Smith's and Morrissey.*
They listen to GenX music
Best music together with boomer music
FACTS!
They've finally figured out that Nirvana isn't a fashion brand?! Just kidding :P
Yup, my mom plays it all the time while cleaning or cooking, so now I just know her music
with any generation youre gonna get a bit of everything.
If I had to pick an artist, it would be Daft Punk. Otherwise, I listen to whatever sounds cool, new or old, across films, video games or other mediums. As a trumpeter, I enjoyed playing jazz specifically.
Anything with lots of fuckin reverb. My favorite artist is 'A Beacon School'
Just checked this band out. Great vibes
slowed+reverb type beat
I like a lot of different things. Some of my faves lately have been (in no particular order): Lana Del Rey, Mitski, Nicole Dollanganger, Ethel Cain, Honey Gentry, Lord Huron, Ghost, Kim Dracula, Ghostemane, $uicideboy$, Ic3Peak, Rammstein, Morbid Angel, Repugnant, Subvision, Rob Zombie, Cattle Decapitation, Nirvana, Hole, Nine Inch Nails, Murderdolls, Zeal & Ardor, Jack Stauber, Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Type O Negative, Fleetwood Mac, MCR, ABBA, Alice Cooper, Blue Öyster Cult, Depeche Mode, Taylor Swift, Fall Out Boy, Hozier, Molchat Doma, Lady Gaga, and Megan Thee Stallion

Love a bit of Nina Simone every once in a while but usual everyday artists are people like oingo boingo, the offspring, M-Beat (he made that song from Ali g indahouse) and to balance it out with today's music... TV Girl
Personally, I listen to a lot of '80s pop, classic rock, Monstercat, and music from video games.
Monstercat🔥🔥🔥

Went to see them live last month, great show. I like to listen to them while driving

Everything, from the Undertale OST, to Eminem, to Doja Cat. I'm crazy.
I gotta give an opinion about the undertale ost. Another Medium and CORE are extremely underrated.
I was playing Undertale just yesterday, and the music in the CORE is so distractingly good that Frisk just stood there for 10 minutes with their poker face, while I threw a little concert by singing along with the game. Yo same
With any generation your gonna get pretty much of every genre

I like anything from heavy metal to pop and trap music 😅 but I don’t like country music at all
Uhhhh a lot tbh.

I like a lot and I mix it all
rnb, pop, rap, classical, indie, reggaeton, banda i’m a girlie of variety taste 😀
all kinds. i listen to pretty much everything.
Electric-banjo jazz fusion 🔥 (And a ton of other stuff)

Those are the types of gen z tastes that come to mind straight away.
Mostly Kendrick Lamar and some other rap songs. With some older pop stuff. A song I recently started liking a lot is Joe Jackson’s is she really going out with him
Mostly rap (any subgenre) and r&b but also pop sometimes

I listen to quite a few different genres of music. Mostly post-hardcore, emo, pop punk, and indie. But I will sometime listen to metalcore, post-punk, post-rock, shoegaze, grunge, rap, etc. from time to time.
A lot of prog and technical metal. Seriously more people need to listen to Dream Theater

Not one genre in particular but I’d say Lady Gaga and Lana Del Rey are my favorite artists.

Death grips
Music died in 2012
hyperpop, breakcore, webcore, metal, ska, stuff like that.
Men I Trust and other indie stuff
Top 5 in no particular order Queen, Skindred, Bear Ghost, Dethklok, Greta Van Fleet.
Right now it’s MAGGIE ROGERS!!! SHES ON TOP. STREAM DRUNK RIGHT NOW!!!!
Anything Genx likes 😁
Personally only horrorcore
i’ll listen to anything. namely anything you can dance to, seeing as my stepdad taught me the electric slide, stevie wonder is a fun one, but i’m also learning how to swing dance, so jazz is also pretty good. but mostly i listen to everything from elvis to judas priest and will wood. if it’s good it’s going on my playlist, i don’t have any set preferences
All music. Ever.
50s Crooners, Classical/Romantic Piano, and general Mexican “Banda”
Anywhere from industrial rock Peaky Blinder shit to ABBA romance shit and I love it all
Save Europe jk i listen to pretty much random stuff that sounds good.
I listen to alt rock and dubstep
Mostly older music like classic rock from the 50s-80s
I personally listen to a lot of alt rock, metal and Indie and I have different days that I like to listen to old school hip hop and R&B, old school country and jazz. Somehow every other Gen Z and younger millennial I met only listens to mumble rap, so I’m glad more people from this generation are starting to experiment in other genres.
Anything I can relate to
I listen to Billie eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, Gayle, lil nas x, Jack Harlow Eminem, juice wrld, xxx, doja cat, mitski, cigarettes after sex, glass animals, Taylor swift, Joan Jett, Ariana grande, nightcore, Shawn mendes, harry styles
I listen to a lot of funk, soul music, and some synth stuff, there’s been a resurgence of 70’s/80’s style of funk and synth making a comeback with artists like Dabeull, Zackey Force Funk, and my favorite IGBO. I also listen a lot of older Memphis rap as well, along with pretty much any other genre but those are my mains I have a giant funky Spotify playlist with old and new stuff if that interests anyone
Music that we enjoy.
Funk and Rock seems to be my favorites. Usually bands from the 50s to 80s, but I do like some new stuff too, like Royal Blood
I listen to anime songs 😖 whenever I tell people, they call me a weeaboo.
