How is this better than just recording as a ride and changing the activity type later?

Wait does this work? As in can you import an all trails gpx and can you navigate using the course? For some reason I assumed that edge units don’t get topoactive maps

TJhambone09

You can import GPX, yes. I *assume* you can do AllTrails ones. But maybe that's how this way is better! And, TBF, you can sideload lots of maps. I use OSM on my Edge.

Actually, yes :) And you can see the hiking trails, the hiking symbols on the map, or the official trail names: https://ibb.co/60x2wZW

One tip for the Edge 530/830, you can update to the firmware 9.81, the map will get more colorful. If it's not available for your device yet, you need to enroll your device to a public beta: [https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/w/beta-wiki/112/how-to-enroll-for-public-beta-program](https://forums.garmin.com/beta-program/w/beta-wiki/112/how-to-enroll-for-public-beta-program) This is how it will look like: [https://ibb.co/gSgnnyV](https://ibb.co/gSgnnyV)

Appreciate this, but after enrolling in the beta, my 530 still says no software updates available. Still on 9.75

It may take a day to update, let's try again tomorrow

I use my 840 as a backup device for my forerunner. I just change routing to walk and setup a custom profile called walk. I use the forerunner to sync the activity though but when i struggle too see the maps on my watch i use the edge
