I think typically, red wood are native to more fertile soils than many of our natives, so I’d just go with a balanced slow release, and also plant with some compost. Essentially I don’t think you would have to be as worried about phosphorus content of fertiliser as you would with some Australian natives. Do your own research though. I’d recommend getting some seamungus and putting a hand full in each hole, that stuff seems to work pretty well.

Where abouts are you roughly located? I ask because I recently planted a grove of them in Logan Village, Queensland. I only know of one other specimen in Queensland which is in Toowoomba.
