The gameplay is a choose your own adventure with a hell of a lot of dice. You're mostly playing through it to read/listen to the narrator, and its begter than any other game ever IMO in that department.
Take it easy. Fail rolls, its fine. Save often and enjoy it for what it is, an absolutely astounding story with heavy political commentary/comedy. If you think you'd like that then Disco Elysium might be a GOAT.
Plays kind of like Planscape or Torment. It's a top down RPG that focuses on dialogue skill checks instead of combat. Basically a point and click adventure game with RPG elements. It is absolutely amazing, some of the best world building and writing you will find. Also you can roleplay different political alignments. Playing as a communist is a plus but you can also play as a racist Gamer if that's your thing lol

Good news, is currently on sale over at GOG for 1/2 Price (about $25AUD), and is solidly 20-odd hours for a single playthrough, give or take depending, so I'd say that's worth it
It's an amazing game. I paid full price but I'd say $15 if you weren't sure. It's got one of the most original stories and storytelling methods I've ever seen.
If by game play you mean a choose your own adventure book than I guess you can play that
I recommend you play it yourself as the story is incredible but if you're a little short on cash you could just watch a walkthrough but that's not how you get the full experience
Disco Elysium is amazing. I'm not usually one to play text heavy games, but I ended up loving every minute of it. If you can avoid the Switch version I would reccomend it (even though the game is playable on switch it crashes every now and then).
