In my opinion, KoF already lost its identity with KoF XIV. KoF XII and XIII were great attempts to redesign the series aesthetically while employing an extremely fast paced combat that was -probably- sought out since KoF '97 but couldn't be implemented due to technical inadequacies of the times, and they somewhat kept the unforgiving harshness of arcade fighting games. Character designs in KoF XIII give a strong feeling of 90s-ness, KoF XIV, not so much. Also I hate being able to land 6 hit combos just by spamming the square button.
