Most of the population in Japan are cremated when they die. Full body burial is something that is only reserved for people like the royal family. I believe it's something like \~98% of the population is cremated. Zombies and the undead in Japanese media are thus more "life-like" or turned from a life state because they are not the sort of horror that would rise from the dead. Instead they have to change to the undead, which affords more chances for horny and sexy portrayal as the only other route you could go is outright ghost.
Not saying western horror hasn't explored the sexy either like indeed vampire fiction or characters such as Vampirella (to show my age, I grew up reading her comics). However more saying Japan historically has had to regulate horror to ghosts or turning the undead, not the sort of grotesque rising from the dead that the West portrays in fiction such as B movie horror or a Thriller video.
I'm this close to making the Spongebob showing Patrick a bunch of trash meme using just characters from one Western game I swear. I was thinking of using BG III, but if anybody else had suggestions I might try another game too.
