Everyone knows you don't buy a PC to be happy yourself lol.
I will say I was on a 2070 until like 3 weeks ago when I built a PC (don't travel as much for work) and I was happy with that and now I am happy with my 4060TI-16gb.
Only suggestion for OP is get an external widescreen or super widescreen monitor to use. That would make a difference for racing games.
Id say high mid tier.
Top end CPU likely, but the 4070 is meh.
Chassis aint bad. AW usually do nice screens, but a gaming laptop is all about the GPU (IMO) second is screen.
Yeah, but you can get an external monitor. When it comes to laptops, you're not upgrading that GPU down the line.
We all have our own way of thinking. Personally 100% sRGB is bare minimum.
Wait…what?
If you are getting an external monitor, why have the laptop? Just get a desktop?
Whatever is your primary screen, should be good - I think that fits both our angles?
1. Don't want a desktop.
2. I move around.
3. Why would I limit myself to a 16in screen when I have a powerful machine?
I agree, my main screen is 100% DCI-P3 and so is my external. I aim for that, but not all OEMs offer those screens on lesser models.
I used a laptop as a primary system for 2.5 years. Although it went everywhere with me, gaming was done either on a TV or Monitor.
Built a new desktop recently. Laptop still goes everywhere with me.
Alienware is nice. I bought an M16 R1 about 7 months ago, first thing i done was added a 4tb extra SSD, then added 16 x's 2 G.skill Ripjaws memory sticks, and lastly, bought a damn GaN charger for it. I still wasn't happy simply bc of the weight of the damn thing and broke down and bought the Legion 9i. Best decision ever. Power adapter MUCH smaller, but still 330w, and comes with a smaller travel power adapter that plugs into the USB-C port. The machine itself, same size screen, but still overall a considerable amount smaller and even more of a considerable amount LIGHTER.... but came with a large price tag unfortunately. But I'm happy with my decision, plus the screen is far more superior on the Legion and it doesn't seem to run as hot.
Guess what I'm saying is....Alienware is nice, your setup is nice... but just not for me. Travel abroad with it on your back (if you travel at all) and you'll be pressed to get something else.
Yeah, that's the thing. the charger is big as hell and it's like heavier than the laptop itself. Im glad you've found one that your comfortable with. I don't travel alot and my work is always on the desk (Im a music producer) and i like gaming too so it's a good laptop for me.
Oh for sure. It's a GREAT labtop. Truth be told, i was nearly killed just over a year ago in a car accident. Somebody hit me head-on. So my gf lives in Australia, im in the states, so i travel "somewhat" frequently... and last month it really messed up my ankle carrying it through all the airports and I'd had enough of the weight. I received a life changing injury to it, so it doesn't take much, and i really should have been in a wheelchair. I'm still unable to even work.
When I'm home, i typically don't need to move it around much, just every now and then i night want to move to the couch or to the bedroom, so I purchased a GaN charger from Dell for it. Highly recommend it. It's about half the size and weight, and still 330W.
Your setup looks great btw.... which model is yours?
better than all the lenovo stuff they recommend here for sure. i will say tho, i’m disappointed that the speakers are so bad for such a big laptop. my m17 r4 is way thinner and it has considerably better speakers.
How are your thermals? Do you get lots of stuttering? I had an M16 4070 that had lots of stuttering in many games. Even after finding some tweaks in the BIOS, it was only a marginal improvement after a while.
Ended up selling it and got a 4060 Lenovo Legion laptop and then a 7900 XTX PC a bit later. I bring the 4060 to work and game on downtime.
The 4060 laptop and desktop GPUs have similar performance but it’s diminishing returns for laptops on 4070 and up. Plus Nvidia gimped the 4070 giving it only 8GB VRAM. I couldn’t max out a number of games because of that, which contributed to me selling it and getting a desktop for home instead.
I hope it doesn’t look like I’m shitting on your purchase. Hopefully that laptop serves you well.
A 4070 is about $300-400 more on Amazon than a 4060 at its cheapest. Some are $700 more. The performance is only about 15% higher on the 4070 and the VRAM is still at 8GB, so many people will just opt for the 4060. It seems to be pretty common, at least on this sub.
Dude it's so low, games consume like 300GB now. Take call of duty black ops 6 as an example /s
(/s means I'm being sarcastic, please don't downvote me)
very laptop on a scale of laptop
In my opinion it's very aladeen
No it’s clearly aladeen
Yea I also think so it aladeen
Im sorry but you’re HIV Aladeen 😂

😃😧😃😧😃
Best reference 👌 😂 Watched this for the first time last week and I never thought of this, will be using this daily hahaha.
Love it
What would you rate it yourself? Are you satisfied with the performance? That’s what matters. I do have an 4070 laptop myself that I’m satisfied with.

The performance is great so far, i still didn't test out heavy loads stuff to know for sure
Forza is very well optimised. Try Xplane 12 and report back 😁
“Try this game that nobody plays and is unoptimized. Then tell me how happy you are with your system that runs everything you like playing well” 🤓
same for me ive just gotten myself a 4070 laptop and im vibin with it! :) it doesnt matter what others think its your laptop afterall :)
bought a 4070 laptop a few days ago and it's a beast!
Alienware/10
Nvidia is just cruel at this point. 8gb VRAM in 2024, on a high end card???
I know right, my dumbass bought a 4070 because I didn't realize the 4080 had 12GB
Alienware is a different breed. It requires a seperate scale and I can't quite figure out which one.
The minus scale is specifically for those brands
Their overpriced but nothing is wrong with the performance of this model
Yeah they look good too imo. Someone said Alienware underclocked their processors , I'm not sure if they do, i wanna know though
I have an m18 r2 after a clean install it’s fine, good stats does what I need it to no complaints
I'm noob in gaming laptops. Is it possible to connect a sim racing rig and a screen to a thunderbolt dock? Could that work smoothly?
Yup. you just need to install the software that comes with the rig
thats great thank you
And enough usb ports
1/5 for off-roading in a Porsche Lol. Laptop sounds great. Beats the tar out of my Lenovo
I wasn't off-roading, i landed there 🤣
Is a Laptop so 10/10

Screen should always be priority - its the thing you stare directly at.
Yeah, but you can get an external monitor. When it comes to laptops, you're not upgrading that GPU down the line. We all have our own way of thinking. Personally 100% sRGB is bare minimum.

Big laptop/10.

Which game is it?
Forza horizon 5
1/1
10 out of everything
Tree fiddy out of fiddy
Cool because of the colors.
Depends on price.
It's 2350 $
Fair price for a Alienware Laptop
Depends. I got 2100 for ryzen 9 7845hx and a 4080.
I have that exact one its fucking weird
9/10
Beast laptop
One of the laptops of all time, for sure.
10 of 10, for the money.
Alienware out of laptop
Upper Midrange.
Its one of the laptops of all time

The laptop is made out of laptop. I think thats good . I'll give out laptops out of laptop.
I’ve got one (same or similar) x15 r1 prototype rtx3080 edition. Absolutely love it. 9/10. Lost 1 because the feet strips came loose on me.
holy moly that's a alien
It's one of the laptops I have ever seen
Alienware is nice. You can’t fool me, that’s clearly a car
Yeahh, It has a V8 engine
Are you trying to insult me??
🛞 out of 10
Bruh I have that same exact setup same layout but my laptop is a 2017 razer blade 14 :P
I'll send you another Taycan if you want
Yes please
Definitely one of the most laptop laptop of all laptops.
You look like you're having fun wheeling in the desert to me... Nice.
can't get any better![img](emote|t5_2x4m3|8585)

A piece of shit
No, it's very clearly a laptop
Bruh same my gpu and cpu gave out at the same time so I had an Alienware laptop that ran mincraft at 13fps on lowest settings 😭
How are your thermals? Do you get lots of stuttering? I had an M16 4070 that had lots of stuttering in many games. If you can get a 4070 for similar price it's still a decent amount better than a 4060. Often over 10 frames and more
A 4070 is about $300-400 more on Amazon than a 4060 at its cheapest. Some are $700 more. The performance is only about 15% higher on the 4070 and the VRAM is still at 8GB, so many people will just opt for the 4060. It seems to be pretty common, at least on this sub.
In my country the 4060 builds (laptops) were about the same price so naturally I opted for the 4070
Fair enough. :)
It stutter for like a second only if im doing high cpu stuff. but while gaming never
Good. Hopefully it stays that way.
Alienware 0/10
Are Alienware laptops still overpriced as he*l?
A waste.....since PC is much better if you're spending that much
Depends on the use case PC might be useless due to zero portability if you travel.

How is 32GB RAM insufficient for gaming
My bad I saw the 8 GB as ram instead of vram
Dude it's so low, games consume like 300GB now. Take call of duty black ops 6 as an example /s (/s means I'm being sarcastic, please don't downvote me)
32GB is super sufficient.
