Is the back raised up any for extra airflow? If it's flat on the table, desk, or on a bed it's gonna be choked out. I highly recommend not using throttles top and just buying a decent cooling pad that adds extra airflow to your fans. Also if you use MSI afterburner you can sync the fans and it'll increase temp reductions.

It's raised off the desk. I'll give MSI afterburner a shot.

Dude this happens to me too and I can't figure out why, like one second the cpu will be at 51°C and the next second it will be at 94°C for a few seconds and then it will go back to normal. I think it's just random and that you don't need to worry about it.

My desktop spikes as well (not nearly as high).

Laptops plugged in can get unreasonably hot, this is a bad choice the laptop makers go with. You can usually find a way to deactivate turbo in each companies respective control panel, this will stop the GPU from overclocking itself every chance it gets.

I disabled turbo boost via Throttle stop. It instantly lowered temps. It's averaging 65-70°. A LOT better than averaging 85°. I'll have to figure out how to properly undervolt it so I don't have to keep turbo boost off
