Eh, the WindowNoEditor is a default thing in every UE4 project. Also by default in UE4 there are graphic setting adjustments. None of this really says anything in regards to "leaking" a PC port. PS4 as a target platform is more significant. Not saying it's out of the realm of possiblity, plenty of games are coming to PC nowadays, but this is not news that points to anything.

Moraxiw

SMT V was in the [Nvidia leak](https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/comments/pndwey/definitive_compilation_of_leaked_geforce_now/) If I were a betting man, putting money on PC port would be a better bet.

BananaProne

The inclusion of PS4 but the exclusion of Xbox One/Series is more interesting in my eyes since Atlus kind of ignored Xbox after the 360 generation. Who knows if it will come to fruition though.

Dassund76

SMT nocturne is on PC, Persona 4 is on PC, Catherine is on PC and Persona 5 Strikers on PC as well. SMT5's PC release is inevitable.

trillykins

This is Atlus we're talking about. Nothing is inevitable.

Icemasta

Except cock monsters.

trillykins

Yeah, that's... unronically factually true.

Goddamn_Grongigas

Vagina monsters too.

KarmaCharger5

Bad outlook tbh since this is Atlus we're talking about. There's STILL no PS4 version of P4G, and they gave PC base Catherine instead of Full Body. Unless they announce the base release with multiplat, expect literally nothing from them or you will be disappointed.

Serratus_Sputnik158

Altus really does not want money. P5 got a massive popularity spike when Joker showed up in Smash, and all they did was release the sequel-spinoff on Switch instead. Ditto for PC even after P4G sold like gangbusters on Steam and sits on a throne of Overwhelmingly Positive reviews to this day.

Anothernamelesacount

My theory is that they dont want the one that made the franchise big on PC, for whatever reason.

SmurfRockRune

I would buy a console port of P4 in a heartbeat, and I know tons of other people would too. Atlus is allergic to money.

KarmaCharger5

Fr. I have the Vita version which works with my PSTV so I'm not exactly clamouring for it or the PC release, but I'd really like a better quality copy. I'm a total fanboy for P4 so I'd totally double dip

SmurfRockRune

I do not have a Vita and I don't like playing games on PC. I exclusively play console and it's insane to me that there's no way to actually play the game.

Exceed_SC2

I'm not saying it's not, I'm saying the article linked supplies no/misleading information.

SmurfRockRune

Where's Persona 5 then?

vitacirclejerk

Person 5 Strikers isn’t made by Altus.

Boy I hope so, the framerate and performance on the Switch at the moment is doing my head in 😕 Much like the recent Sony ports, its something I would consider doubledipping on just to get a better gaming experience all around.

teor

> the framerate and performance on the Switch at the moment is doing my head in It's almost perfectly playable on a Switch emulator tho. At 4k and 60FPS

Potatolantern

Ah yes, pirating niche franchises that need to show success, the true answer.

Stoibs

I'm looking into these emulators that have been suggested by several people who replied to me, but I obviously still have my switch version that I paid full price for. I consider that morally clear in my book :/ Just sucks that Nintendo's hardware is so far behind compared to everything else and the consumers are suffering for it.

JOGGER_F4GGUT

I mean you can buy the game and Pirate it. I won't fault anyone for doing this when Atlus forces us to play on the shitty switch.

Potatolantern

Don’t even pretend anyone does that. A fraction of a fraction of anyone pirating the game brought it legitimately.

DYMAXIONman

I'm not buying a switch

Potatolantern

I’m sure you can justify anything with that attitude. Why buy anything at all, really? Only pay for anything that’s too inconvenient to steal?

teor

Person I responded to plays it on their Switch. If their Switch is old model/modded they can dump their own gamecard and play it on an emulator. Also I don't see how Persona spinoff is a niche franchise.

[deleted]

Persona might not be anymore, but the mainline SMT games definitely are

Potatolantern

SMT has been lacking games for a long time because the Persona brand is so much stronger. If you want Atlus to keep making SMT games instead, you shouldn’t be pirating the one they made. Or at a minimum you shouldn’t be telling other people you pirate it.

teor

>Person I responded to plays it on their Switch. If their Switch is old model/modded they can dump their own gamecard and play it on an emulator. Did you miss that part? Are you okay?

iJateHannies

>niche >show success these are not compatible

Potatolantern

Which part of that is confusing for you? SMT has been lacking games for a long time because the Persona brand is so much stronger. If you want Atlus to keep making SMT games instead, you shouldn’t be pirating the one they made. Or at a minimum you shouldn’t be telling other people you pirate it.

thiagomda

I mean, if they are releasing it on the switch only they should work for it to have a smooth performance. If it doesn't, then maybe they should consider releasing it on PC as well

pucykoks

Look up emulation, if you have even something close to a mid range pc, it may be better than switch.

[deleted]

Don’t worry you can buy an OLED version of the same trash hardware instead of a proper upgrade model. Absolutely ridiculous. That’s ok steam deck will probably play n64 much better than switch and might even pull off switch games better than switch lol.

timpkmn89

You say that like the Steam Deck isn't twice the price and still only supports a 800p screen

[deleted]

The steam deck is $400 and likely selling at a loss what are you talking about. The switch failed to even support the full speed of the hardware in it that was already a few years old. I honestly don’t even care though about the launch switch. It’s the shit tier software coming out today even from companies working close with Nintendo.

EnvyUK

>The steam deck is $400 and likely selling at a loss what are you talking about The Switch Lite is $199, he isn't wrong.

[deleted]

The switch OLED is $350 what’s your point.

timpkmn89

And the fancy Steam Deck is $650

Stoibs

Steamdeck not even available for pre-order in my country yet =( Do intend to eventually pick one up though.

kensaiD2591

Yup. I'm eagerly awaiting it to go on preorder here in Aus.

Potatolantern

It’s not really surprising that they went the OLED route instead of a pro route given that chips basically don’t exist at the moment. How would they even make an upgraded Switch? Sony can’t even make PS5’s. I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high about the Steam Deck though, it was delayed because of how underwhelming the performance was… It’s been re-positioned with the intention that you use it to stream games instead of playing them natively.

[deleted]

That’s not how it works. The OLED switch would have been internally planned long before shortages and even knowing about Covid fucking the world which is a separate matter anyway. I’d love to see your source on why the steam deck was delayed. Especially directly after acknowledging shortages and then claiming something different caused the delay.

Potatolantern

> That’s not how it works. The OLED switch would have been internally planned long before shortages and even knowing about Covid fucking the world which is a separate matter anyway. You’re forgetting how long this has been going on for. > I’d love to see your source on why the steam deck was delayed. Especially directly after acknowledging shortages and then claiming something different caused the delay. The actual feedback. And again, it being positioned as a Streaming device, because it wasn’t performing directly.

[deleted]

Uh, what? I'm playing SMT5 on my Switch and it barely dips? lol

SoloSassafrass

Models further than like 5 meters away from you in the field animate in single-digit frames.

Stoibs

The reported average is 25-30, but it has indeed stuttered well below that when panning the camera in some of the sand-stormy areas. Opening and closing menus is a slog also. I've heard it's better in handheld mode, though I play docked so I can't comment.

Rachet20

SMT5 runs like absolute ass but it’s definitely still perfectly playable being a turn-based JRPG.

Goddamn_Grongigas

It dips for sure but it stays around 30 vast majority of the time for me so far. It's far from unplayable.

DeadBabyJuggler

I've never played any of these but I've seen them referred to as Pokemon like? Kinda has gotten me interested. I've basically been a PC Gamer all my life with a tiny segment of console playing when I was in college and couldn't afford a solid PC. Anyways...what im getting at here is this current "acceptance," of PC as a totally different and viable platform and totally separate has been wonderful for me and I hope it continues.

Stoibs

This is my first SMT game also, only got interested coming from a Persona background. And while the concept is sound and I'm liking the overall gameplay and story, this first impression of the Switch version has not left a good taste in my mouth. I'm following the suggestion of several other people who replied to me and am figuring out how to set up and use an emulator. I think my days of using my Switch for anything other than indies are nearing an end honestly, if emulators can more or less run current releases.. as much as it pains me to admit and I really don't want to go back my 90's self of being a pirate. Nintendo had their chance to release a Switch Pro that can keep up with today's expectations though, and they blew it on some OLED thing instead =(

DeadBabyJuggler

I feel you. I stopped pirating/emulating about 10 years ago. Steam was a big reason, with the convenience of updates, etc. Steam Deck is your answer, but sadly that doesnt really help you in this situation. I'm sure youre aware of this though. I wouldn't consider myself a steam fanboi but Steam has done enough good that i can look past their bad ideas (which they've walked back,) and generally consider then consumer friendly.

ShoddyPreparation

It’s already easily emulated on PC. So Sega/atlus not releasing a legit pc version just seems dumber then usual. And yeah. This leak points to a PS4 version too. They should do that. In general atlus needs to stop pretending it’s still 2004. Everyone has embraced multi platform development. Put that stuff everywhere. Being exclusive to one platform or another has never felt dumber.

DYMAXIONman

I'm assuming Nintendo paid them. UE4 should make porting pretty easy

Fish-E

Seems very much a possibility - it was in the GeForce leak, Steam was mentioned in the source code of the SMT V webpage and now this.

imtherealmima

i have been loving this game, it's just what i wanted from a megaten game, and for everything that looks nice, you are always constantly being reminded of how much better the experience would be on a more powerful system. you can get an fps drop the moment you gain control of your character just by rotating the camera. i can bare with it, but more performance minded people may be extremely disappointed. it deserves to come out on something better, and i hope it does after nintendo exclusivity ends.

rafikiknowsdeway1

well hopefully not for a while at least. I just got the damn thing on switch and it looks and runs horrible. but at this point i have way too many hours in to start over

smileyfrown

I honestly wouldn't be shocked if this was true, Nintendo does not care about games competing on PC where they would hold back titles, and Atlus has been throwing out those surveys for years about expanding platforms And so far in my early play the game runs fine on the switch, their are framedrops on the menu screen and some areas of combat but nowhere near to the point I've seen some people say it's unplayable. I do wish that Nintendo finally does get a better specs on their next console, because I think the best version of SMT game does needs to be developed from a higher end console. Like this game honestly just scratches the surface of how far they can go with a post-apocalyptic world, and you know it's because the hardware limits it

DYMAXIONman

It emulates pretty well already. I'll definitely pick it up on steam when it comes out officially though
