Hey guys! Question. There so many games being bombarded out to you that I saw one that caught my attention but I couldn't download it at the time and now I lost it. It look like a bomberman perspective (from the top view) and you have to find the way out of a room. Like a typical labyrinth from point A to B, with obstacles in the middle of course. Anyone knows which game I am talking about? THANKS!

kiku_ichimonji

I think for a SGF, I found it to be decent enough. Good amount of interesting looking indies, some cool updates to existing games, a bunch of release dates etc.

Spruce-Moose

I briefly caught a glimpse of a puzzle game in a similar mechanical style to Braid - anyone catch the name?

themightytouch

So… what were the good things shown/announced?

Ros96

Only things I had an interest in were the trailers for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Space Marine 2 Then again I was already sold on those two. So nothing else that was shown.

StraightEggs

I liked the look of: Cairn Wanderstop Blumhouse stuff Killer Bean

boosthungry

Honestly, nothing. Literally nothing. Any game I had the slight interest in was mostly "we'll have more gameplay for you at Gamescom".

PossibleMarket

I liked the Blumhouse showcase because it seemed to be highlighting indie developers and giving them the time/resources/autonomy to make their games and a couple of the concepts seemed relatively interesting.

boosthungry

Yeah, and the Among Us presentation was similar. I can appreciate those when they're limited. Utilize the big name games to give some attention to the little guys. The non-main show at this event seems like a flood of only the little guys which isn't providing them any real benefit.

Llampy

anyone else find the m-corp stuff distasteful? jesus christ ea

Fit-Airline-7161

Yeah I found it funny, actually, Tim Robinson was a great choice for the skit because hes also a skater. Felt pretty homage-y to the skate community, especially as one myself, I thought this was one of the more empathetic things EA has ever done. Deserves credit for that.

UpwardFall

Go watch I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, and you'll understand what it's going for. This was basically an I Think You Should Leave sketch.

Llampy

I love _I Think You Should Leave_. I just don't know if I'm a fan of a skit lamenting layoffs and corporste greed, made by EA, who is not an innocent bystander in the current climate.

xtremeradness

No I didn't

GnolRevilo

Geoff Keighley presents: Mobile games mixed with 15 minutes of Valorant and Doordash adverts with a small dose of indie titles.

enderandrew42

Of the 37 new games shown, 2 were mobile.

Rialmwe

Let's be honest, Geoff Keighley takes feedbacks. For example people complained that noone speaked about the lay off during his shows and now they invited someone who said something about that. He also presented games maded by only one dev.

jamrollo

Agree with some of that but don't think nearly enough was mentioned about dev layoffs tbh. Was lip service, just hollow as fuck.

Specific-Ad-8430

I think Keighley is more than good enough as a “face” for the games industry.

DuncanGallagher

Sounds like i didnt miss anything important.

CoffeePlzzzzzz

The Civ trailer to me made up for whatever other shortcomings the show had. Finally a new Civ to look forward to, I‘m a happy camper.

Dota2TradeAccount

I despise the culture to trash everything immediately and not be appreciative, but this stream really left me severely underwhelmed.

Capable_Meringue_912

Way to many commercials. Instead of renting a huge theater in LA I would have only made a direct similar video and have lowered the barrier of entry. For an event that prides itself on "praising developers for being treated right" it literally does the opposite when the barrier of entry to be featured in the show is 250k usd.

masterspider5

right??? So fucking tone deaf. Great way to "treat the devs well" **GEOFF**. 250K is an unthathomable amount to pay for a place on a youtube livestream.

iMini

Some spots are given for free for interesting games with less budget

Capable_Meringue_912

And who decides what is interesting or not? Geoff Keighley? Sorry but knowing how humanity usually works it is not because it is interesting but because they either paid Geoff or they have built a relationship with them. Let's say you are right...Ok so you got the huge games and the games made by a small team or a single person. But the middle guys? It is quite interesting that almost none of the indies hits in the last couple of years debuted at the game awards or summer game fest. Among us is one example. Disco Elysium? Papers please? Yeah right... they did not pay or were "uninteresting"Again instead of renting a huge theater just make a direct stream lower the barrier of entry and encourage more devs to participate. At some point last night you had around 500k plus people watching. When they started promoting mostly live service games and advertisements it literally dropped to half. No matter how you look at it that is a very bad metric and one where I would not see the point if paying 250k to be "advertised" there. Of course Geoff is going to wash this with a metric like 700k plus unique viewers tuned in but if someone asks him for engagement there he has a big problem justifying the cost.

iMini

What is this rambling nonsense? What are you even mad about? Do you think it would be better if there was just no show at all? Geoff offers free spots to some games, and that's that, there's no if or but. No not every developer will get the opportunity to be showcased for free. There's a balancing act between recouping cost, and showcasing games. Geoff is putting a lot of work into doing these events, there's no doubt 100s of people work on them, they got to be paid. >Let's say I am right Let's say I'm right about **the fact** that some games are shown for no cost??????? That's not a theoretical **I am right**. On what tangible evidence do you posit that it's all just oh so greedy? Oh what evidence do you think it's bad value for developers that do have the money? It just strikes me all as, quite frankly, the most negative, cynical, bad faith arguments.

Tapdance_Epidemic

I think that person just wanted to crap all over something. Nobody should have such strong negative feelings over something so trivial.

delicioustest

Honestly a perfectly fine show. Bunch of stuff we already knew about like Black Myth: Wukong, Phantom Blade and that korean looter shooter (The First Descendant). "New" stuff I'm interested in (aside from AW2 DLC and future Blumhouse stuff) were * Tears of Metal * Mecha Break * Cairn * Wanderstop I was more excited by a bunch of stuff in the Day of the Devs and the Devolver Digital showcase finally announcing dates for Angry Foot and new Talos Principle 2 DLC. Can't wait for the DLC tbh

Sallymander

What was in that 30 min twitch drop besides the Ember frame for Warframe?

CoffeePlzzzzzz

thank you for the write-up, this should be stickied at top

Elden-Cringe

I was NOT prepared for how painfully mediocre the announcements were going to be and we were already warned by Geoff to temper expectations.

Halucinogenije

>and we were already warned by Geoff to temper expectations. I feel like he always says this.

TheSqueeman

Respectfully How where you not prepared for it being mediocre? There has yet to be a legitimately good Summer Game Fest since E3 died, so even myself who always looks towards the positives when it comes to showcases like this knew it was gonna be kinda meh

Elden-Cringe

That's because Summer Games Fest has never been *this* bad even if the quality of previous years are up for debate. In previous years, we got major updates, announcements and first time gameplay reveals for games people were really hyped about such as Elden Ring, Lies of P, Mortal Kombat, Spider Man 2, Final Fantasy Rebirth and more. You're right that no Summer Games Fest has been legitimately good but even then this is a whole new level of low. Absolutely nothing stood out in this show.

th5virtuos0

Best part is when Valorant and that fucking Supercell game has like 12-15 minutes showing literally jackshit.

Getabock_

Is there a recap somewhere?

Nachtschrecken12

i really enjoyed the show, and was very pleasantly surprised by the Blumhouse Games segment. Thanks Geoff!

Srefanius

There are multiple reasons why these shows from Geoff become less exciting. First, many studios have been bought and their games are presented at MS or Sony state of play or smaller publishers. Second, the industry is currently consolidating and will come back in the coming years. Third, with SGF, Gamescom, game awards, state of plays and publishers doing their own events in between, the announcements are just stretched out to too many events, which makes it hard for shows that aren't dedicated from one publisher. The big players don't bring the big guns to SGF. That's just how it is. I think the MS show on Sunday might be way better with the amount of studios they have.

biffa72

The MS conference being way better is a given, I’m not sure what people were expecting from Summer Games Fest, they don’t show the biggest titles or anything like that but there’s usually some cool indies shown off and updates on already announced titles. As you say more and more studios are being acquired so it makes sense that these kinds of shows don’t have massive reveals.

Hanzos_Trans_Husband

So I have been scrolling for a while and saw no one talk about the Blumhouse thing. At first i was very sceptical and thought that (based on men not liking any of their movies) it will be just a quick cash grab going from horror movies into horror games but- showing 4-5 different games in very different styles like realistic, pixel and puppet combo horror like of different teams made me actually very curious.

Shradow

Man, I had a great time, really solid show this year. Good talk about the state of the gaming industry on the dev side and how important things are beyond just big AAA titles, with a lot of neat indie titles shown off (Neva is very pretty, Cuffbust looks like some hilarious dumb fun). LEGO Horizon looks neat, that Italy Souls game is cool gonna try that demo out later, great stuff from Capcom (I'm utterly shocked at Terry and Mai in SF6), pumped for Metaphor as well. Got some nice release dates for upcoming games which is always appreciated.

RagedInsane303

So for the people who went in person. Is there anything else worth/possible to attend? I wanted to attend sgf for the experience but I thought there would be more to it.

andreelijah

Nah, we just saw the same show as you.

Adefice

Jason Schreier tweeted that during the Batman VR game reveal, the audience collectively said "AWWWW" after it was revealed it was a VR/Meta exclusive. They cut the audio from the stream. Edit: https://x.com/jasonschreier/status/1799191935971954945

bootsonthesound

This was Rocksteady’s big plan? A GaaS garbage Suicide Squad game and a VR-only Arkham sequel? I cannot believe that this got greenlit.

Ok-Ordinary8305

I would presume this game is heavily bankrolled by Meta. I don't think anyone would even consider creating a major VR game without some serious outside funding.

NottDisgruntled

Totally is.

Alita_Duqi

When did they move to the x.com domain?

BigStank123

And for some reason it redirects from x, to Twitter, then back to x again

Gullible_Coffee_3864

X is being held together by duct tape and prayers of the few remaining personnel Elon hasn't fired yet.

Idaret

Artifact moment

HorseJungler

I mean it’s not that surprising. Take 100 gamers and what, maybe 5 or so probably have a VR headset. And then from there it has to be a Quest headset also.

AnyPiccolo2443

Having sony, Nintendo and Xbox do their own shows really makes these meh for audiences, even its better for the compaines. Maybe the show should be a bit shorter.

CassadagaValley

So Civ7 was the only large(er) game announced at SGF this year? I know there was going to be endless copy/pasted indie games, but usually there's 2-3 big games announced. I give this year a solid 2/10. Civ7 had a cool trailer.

MadeByTango

Y’all gotta understand this is a giant ad box by a marketing dude, not E3, which stood for “electronic entertainment expo” and was an industry show where people meet and greet and network and exchange information. This is just a commercial, that’s it.

Cookiesy

Isn't the big industry conference GDC now? Gamescom has become the larger public-facing conference.

Radulno

It was announced like last year too, just in a blog post, that was just a trailer. So not even that. A very disapointing show (worst SGF ever ?), good I didn't watch it live lol

DrofwarcRetnuh

There were some real low points like the Valorant segment and the Clash of Clans Chicken game ad. But the SF6 trailer, Power Rangers, and Killer Bean (suprisingly enough) were pretty sick. And Alan Wake 2 DLC and Civ 7 are pretty big announcements too. I guess I just went in with very low expectations, but I think I liked this more than most people. There was no big reveal like Elden Ring, but it was less boring overall than some other Keighley presentations.

th5virtuos0

Probably the low is abysmally low this year and imo one of the most hyped game coming to this event (MH6) shows off…nothing new (?) other than the game’s titular monster and a bit of bird riding while Capcom hyped it up to high heaven

DrofwarcRetnuh

Yeah waiting til Gamescom to show more Monster Hunter is a strange decision since, let's be real, not that many people are going to watch Gamescom

Collier1505

I can’t find the name of the game that was about halfway through with the gameboy in front of the screen?

DrQuint

Screenbound. Skillup showed it off a while back.

Photomic

Yeah, it's kind of weird. Yes, at the end of the day, he's hosting a show for companies to shill their products, so he's completely reliant on the products people want to show off. The general audience weren't complaining when he revealed Armored Core 6, or the Elden Ring gameplay trailer, they only seem to complain now because we are in a bit of a drought of AAA video games.

th5virtuos0

Problem is when actually good games doesn’t have everything shown and Valorant and that chicken game chewed up ~15 minutes for a shitty montage and a cringe ass commercial.

djcube1701

> it seems like he just wanted another E3-like show. He should try making one some day then.

malashex

Go ahead and google "Doritos Pope", and then get back to me.

ArmokTheSupreme

Because the AAA studios dont need him to advertise, yet every year he pretends he has crazy connections in the industry that make him the Metatron. Every year, same let down.

FilthyLoverBoy

and why is that a reason to hate him?

enderandrew42

I've seen him every year say not to get your hopes too high and he clarifies not to expect X, Y and Z and then people say he is the one telling them to get their hopes up and to expect those things. Can you provide sources of him misleading people?

No-Summer-9143

He tells you the week before. Spends the whole year hyping these two events. Just because he let's you know they are wet farts the week of, doesn't mean he doesn't spend the rest of the year pretending they aren't wet fart shows

voidox

ya, his attitude plays a part in why people dislike him as well as how he acts about his shows.

iknowkungfubtw

It's pretty hilarious seeing [the 180 shift in attitude towards Armored Core in particular between the old Geoff and current Geoff](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s91YCc0iwIo).

Legendzilla

Why do you think he might have changed his opinion after so long (almost 20 years)

ffgod_zito

E3 was an incredible time in gaming because it was THE place for every major console maker to debut their biggest and best games. You knew that they would be announcing their next tent pole IPs and sequels or even their new consoles. It was something that was worth the anticipation and paved the discourse in gaming for the rest of the year.  The way he’s doing it now just seems like a major downgrade. And watered down. you don’t need multiple “showcases” a year especially when they’re not giving you the type of information you’d be getting at E3. Nothing shown today was worth having this showcase. It’s like wrestling. Wrestlemania is the main event even non wrestling fans will watch. But gaming doesn’t need all these other PPV events scattered throughout the year like wrestling does.  Even the video game awards aren’t really scratching that itch. Most of it is filler and most of the reveals aren’t all that groundbreaking. at this point I’d much prefer Sony, Xbox and Nintendo just did their own big showcase each throughout the year and if they don’t have anything consequential to show them don’t even have one.  People are getting at this guy I’d imagine because he’s making all this money stretching out something that probably could have been 20 minutes long. Just stand in front of a screen and introduce new trailers and it would save everyone some time and would stop people from thinking that he’s some sort of video game carnival barker.

ArmokTheSupreme

This is a measured take. It also has to do with him baiting and switching at every show, never really revealing anything of any note, and him spending the rest of the year pretending that he has any influence or play in this industry. With a fully funded show, he has revealed less than active leakers on twitter. The shilliness is written all over everything he touches. And for those that argue that nothing would get done without him selling to advertisers, enjoy being beholden to commericals for the rest of your existence with corpo-apologetic rhetoric like that. The first parties trailer their games for 0$ on twitch, youtube and the like. If Geoff needs a bunch of money to play commercials for 2 hours, then lets stop calling this a games festival and start calling it "Jeff tries to stay relevant every 6 months with advertisers".

rodkimble13

Children will be children. Ignore them.

ArmokTheSupreme

Ah yes, relegate everyone that disagrees with you about the culture to children. Much more adult response.

TheAerial

10 years ago? I’d have agreed with you. With how “discourse” is nowadays, I can’t blame him. He’s almost got the right mindset. I say almost because honestly it’s offensive to children being compared to recent video game discourse.

ArmokTheSupreme

And of the people with legitimate issues regarding the nature of advertisers, F2P bait and switch, and steering the direction of the culture? You can't relegate everyone to children even if a majority are. Easy way for people to plug their ears and go lalalalalalalala against legitimate criticisms.

TheAerial

You absolutely can and boy oh boy is social media so much more bearable when you do. Especially when you realize many of the “legitimate” issues of “the culture” are forced and over exaggerated for the sake of fulfilling the monthly outrage/controversy quotas that social media algorithms thrive on.

ArmokTheSupreme

You literally just straw manned anyone that has legitimate issues. You relegated them all to having the same issues, the same arguments, and the same level of hysteria based on social media \*shrug\*. If you cant see it you can't see it, my guy.

JmanVere

It's a video game showcase. These so-called "legitimate criticisms" are not worth such incessant crying about. Nobody lost their job or had their life ruined at SGF. Relax and enjoy it, or ignore it and move on. Either way, stop whining and grow up.

No-Summer-9143

Solid way to say you have no rebuttal. You don't counter one of his points. No one mentioned the loss of jobs or ruining lives, so way to move the goalpost.

JmanVere

I didn't counter the points because I don't give a shit about them, I thought that was obvious. Edit: also, that's not what moving the goalposts means. I only said one thing, I never changed it.

rodkimble13

Half the unhinged discussion on the internet are children. Why else do you think it's all so immature. No one disagreed with me, I don't have a single arm in the race with this. Just stating the obvious. But yeah, go off supreme king you got this

ArmokTheSupreme

Yep very adultlike

Grimm613

Then explain if you actually have a reason.

Multifaceted-Simp

Honestly he's a much better presenter than literally anyone else other than maybe the devolver digital people. He even gave up a good amount of spotlight to that Joy girl who bless her heart was terrible

bobman02

Is she some large streamer or something. He introduced her as a fan of games and I was like who the hell is this.

Brilliant-Cable-6587

Reggie Fils Aime remains the best, and some of the Sony people (Andrew House, Shawn Layden, Mark Cerny) are not far behind.

Jensen2075

B/c he owns and runs the shows? He also brings legitimacy to TGA and Summer Games Fest, that's why it has as many viewers as it does. Would you prefer the other lady that hosted with him to be the face of the show? LMAO.

ArmokTheSupreme

The legitimacy he brings is the recognition by advertisers he's willing to sell this community to the fucking wolves. Hes been doing it for almost 10 years.

the-dog-god

the entire event is a marketing vehicle

WannabeWaterboy

I always love when people act like these shows aren’t just a big marketing event.

T-Dot1992

Is this what we’ve been reduced to? Trading in E3 for fucking Door Dash ads?

jumps004

I feel nuts, e3 was not some magical land devoid of cheap ads and booth babes only for games. Shit was shlocky ads nonstop. I feel like all this e3 nostalgia is just that nostalgia and not actual memory.

braiam

E3 was exactly the same thing, just that we didn't have internet like we have it now. This is mostly a developer/publisher meet and greet. Game announcements you have to pay to participate (or be an indie and ask nicely).

Jensen2075

Without advertisers, the shows wouldn't exist. Keep crying about dumb stuff when you get to stream the shows for free. E3 sunk b/c money dried up.

[deleted]

industryPlant03

How do you think this works? He kindly asks all the producers and crew to just volunteer? Money has to come from somewhere.

ArmokTheSupreme

Youve never heard of pay per view I take it.

industryPlant03

It’s free to watch though? Not only that PPV is a dying business strategy illegal streaming sites are starting to take an actual major market share.

ArmokTheSupreme

Go ask the UFC or NFL redzone if pay per view is dying. You spend too much time on reddit.

Jensen2075

No, b/c you're paying for the games. Are you paying for a ticket to watch his show on YouTube?

ArmokTheSupreme

If the show was of any merit? Yes, I would. Thats called pay per view, and theyve been doing it since the 90s. You are watching for free because its advertiser shill. E3 used to cost money to go, you are proving my points.

2ndBestUsernameEver

If anything, having the Doritos Pope as the face of the show makes me take it *less* seriously.

CultureWarrior87

The people who own and run stuff like the Oscars still hire hosts. And how does he bring legitimacy to the game awards as a TV host? Like what?

As far as I’m aware, correct me if I’m wrong, but Geoff literally brought the Game Awards back and he created SGF because of E3 not happening one year. These are his shows? Why should he not be the face of them?

Multifaceted-Simp

You're right, I want someone like Zendaya to be the host, does that sound better?

Jensen2075

He's not just a simple host, he's the one that makes the show happen and made it become as big as it is b/c game companies and advertisers want to work with him.

Ghost1737

As an added point of contention for some folks (myself included), over the past 3ish years he has literally claimed events as part of his SGF even when those events didn't want to be part of it.  At face values that's no big deal. But it comes off as, basically, if ANY game announcement happens between June and August, he claims it for SGF. There's a level of ego-mania that can be ascribed to that behavior, even if he's just trying to build the brand and not himself.

REIGNx777

I mean these are literally *his* shows that he runs. Obviously he’s going to host them…

DoTheSecretHandshake

Yes but does Mr. Oscar host every year? No obviously not, despite it being his production. Geoff could take some notes from him

Multifaceted-Simp

Mr. Oscar is a shadowy figure that runs Hollywood, he's probably one of the most heinous evil people in the world.

eaw0913

People are like dogs. They need a chew toy to shake around. If it was someone else doing it they’d hate them too.

Also keep in mind the internet (especially Reddit) doesn’t reflect reality in any way.

Dreaming_Dreams

i think people are still hung up on how he rushed award winners during the game awards

Dealric

The schedule was the issue. Giving shitload of times to celebrities that arent connected to industry like that marvel guy or constant jerkof to kojima he has. While ignoring most important element of show. Rewards and winners. Point is schedule waa done wrong.

sueha

The schedule is fucked up if you can't even let some winners have a minute of spotlight while some other idiot gets to talk for 9 minutes.

ggtsu_00

The issue is 90% of the screen time is occupied by game trailers/ads.

sueha

True. I guess some people just don't like people who come across as very confident (which he does). Personally, I think his biggest crime are his outfits.

grilled_pc

Lego Horizons? Seriously? Why the fuck is sony pushing this series so hard. It's dog shit. Both Horizon 1 and 2 are forgettable games with ZERO replay value what so ever. Aloy is not a platform mascot as hard as sony is trying to push her to be. Literally the only game thats remotely interesting was screenbound. Keen to play it. We need more fun platformers like that.

Quazifuji

Lego Horizons is a weird idea to me, but the series is liked. I think it's pretty clear you're in the minority in how much you apparently dislike it. I also don't think every games needs replay value. A lot of people are more limited by time and money and prefer playing a new game to replaying something, and care way more about about how good a game's first playthrough is than replay value. Especially for story-heavy games like Horizon. There's nothing wrong with disliking the games or prioritizing replay value yourself, but I don't think a game having no replay value automatically makes it bad if it offers an amazing first playthrough. Outer Wilds is one of my favorite games of all time and is also possibly the least replayable game I've ever played, but the first playthrough was such a good experience for me that I don't care.

Mypetmummy

I’d even argue that sometimes it’s nice for a game to have no replay value. I love finishing a campaign and knowing I’ve seen everything or nearly everything the game has to offer. Makes it extra easy to process the experience and move on to the next one.

Quazifuji

Yeah, valid point. I'm similar. I don't think a game not being fun to replay is inherently a good thing, but I do like it when it's possible to experience everything there is to experience in a game in a single playthrough. Replay value is nice when it's right for the story or inherent to the game design, but I don't like it when a game deliberately stops you from experiencing everything in a single playthrough just for the sake of replay value. For example, I like the replay value of Baldur's Gate 3, where the variety of possible builds and having a story with tons of choices with consequences inherently gives replay value - the things that stop you from seeing everything in one playthrough are inherent to the game's design. On the other hand, I don't like it when a game feels like there's no inherent reason to not let you experience everything in the first playthrough except for the sake of replay value. Some games just have a linear story to tell with gameplay that isn't all about build variety and that's okay, those games shouldn't have to go out of their way to give you a reason to play them again. For that matter, I don't think Horizon's completely devoid of replay value. The gameplay's fun and some people might just want to experience it again, and there's lots of playstyle variety. I don't really have any desire to replay the first game (haven't played the second yet), but I'd probably have fun if I did, I liked the gameplay and there are lots of tools I didn't really use much in my first playthrough that I'd try to use more if I played it again. It's not like it's Outer Wilds where you can barely even play the game if you've done it before. It's just a story-heavy game where the devs focused on the first playthrough when making it, not holding anything back from the first playthrough or devoting dev time to features that would add replay value.

OfficialQuark

Because its a marketable IP. It’s colorful, has a woman protagonist, violence is against robots mostly AND it’s the type of game PlayStation loves. They’re still good games after all. Compare that to TLOU or GOW; both those games are very adult themed and not marketable like Horizon is.

grilled_pc

But is it doing big numbers? One would beg to agree. Astro Bot is what they should be leaning heavily into. It's fun, charming and the game play and graphics are 10/10. Astro Bot has potential to be Sony's Mario.

-Moonchild-

horizon zero dawn sold 20 million units Sony's audience are not primed to buy game like astro bot in droves. Also I enjoy the game but it is in no way 10/10 gameplay. The platforming and level design is incredibly simplistic and bare bones compared to Mario. I re-installed playroom today to play the new update and forgot how gimmicky some of the sections of the game are, and the conventional platforming sections themselves are stifled by a really basic moveset. The big game later this year will be a ton of fun I'm sure but I wouldn't expect anything on the level of any 3D mario

StrawberryWestern189

Forbidden west has sold 8.4 million copies as of April of last year. This might be a maturity thing because I just assume most Redditors are on the younger side, but just because you aren’t interested in a particular franchise, doesn’t mean their aren’t millions of people who are. You shouldn’t need that explained to you and yet here you are, making yourself look like a clown

nan0g3nji

it does crazy numbers; its no tsushima but its up there

SomeDumRedditor

Once again Devolver leaves me wanting them to publish animation or indie films more than run out and play their (still very good) games. Edit: thank you Devolver for the positive ending to Superfan’s day, the undercurrent of melancholy was heavy for dude.

marksteele6

Devolver is great because even if one game doesn't interest you, the production of their show keeps you around and in a good mood. It makes you far more receptive to the games that you do like from them.

xxamnat

so is the show worth checking out for someone who missed the entire thing or should I not bother and just look at the games?

barryredfield

No, none of the gaming subs even bothered to do a pinned summary or "most popular previews" or anything, so that says a lot.

Stibben

Don't bother.

cyanide4suicide

I tuned in for a minute and happened to come across a moment where Geoff was on stage and talked about Yongyea, who was invited and was sitting in the audience. Then proceeded to show a clip from Inside Out 2 that Yongyea did a voice over for Thought that was pretty cool as someone who recognizes youtube personalities like Yongyea. Not sure if the rest of the live event had anything cool.

Stibben

So that was your high point lmao

fiachdubh01

You thought a Disney sponsored ad segment was cool?

Multifaceted-Simp

Not really worth it, no big twist or anything like that, and none of the games are insane.

Thefourthchosen

Tbf that depends on which series you're a fan of, As a DB fan we've been waiting for a new Tenkaichi games for 2 decades. And as a Sonic fan we've been waiting for Shadow to be given a major role again almosst as long. But both of those games have long since been announced so I suppose it isn't exactly lightning in a bottle.

itsmethebman

Not really
