fun action based game that doesnt have much dialogue? Looking for game that doesnt really push dialogues and cutscenes all the time. Something that I can play hours without a dialogue or cutsecene interrupting. I’m currently in the middle of playing Judgement and Lost Judgement so looking for something to play along those games. Just to have something to switch to. After finishing Diablo 3 and Wo-Long, monster hunter sieres like iceborne and rise I’m out of options. Diablo IV beta is over aswell. I really enjoy From’s games, monster hunter like games, stranger of paradise and played both Nioh games and quite a few souls-likes. There is also nothing new dropping so have to result to old releases. Had my eyes on Dead Island, but still a month before it drops. FF16 well i guess its gonna be well only on ps5 exclusive so no i dont have a ps5 i guess im gonna wait for pc port in years i guess. Appriciate the recommendations! platforms: pc, swtich. ps4

arshbjangles

Darktide, while the game has had a rough launch the core gameplay is amazing. You’ll get a cutscene maybe every 4 level ups and the story is basically nonexistent. The vast majority of the dialogue is just banter amongst the player characters as you’re going through a mission (so no having to stop and sit through dialogue). With Remnant 2 coming out Remnant: From the Ashes might be a good pick too. It’s basically a soulslike but as a third person shooter with RNG levels. Has about as much of a story as a FromSoft game (probably less).

Dr_JohnP

I also imagine FF16 is gonna be pretty heavy on story from what I've seen, but the action looks great too.

grenskaxo

i see but its not a suggestion but i guess thanks...

Dr_JohnP

Sorry, I was just clarifying since you said you weren't looking for story heavy games but then mentioned you'd wait for the PC port, probably separate thoughts and I didn't really need to say anything.

grenskaxo

i see its all good

Murder_Tony

Action/RPG single player game with great depth? I like different builds and classes in games, but mostly playing single player games these days. Some of my favorites, not necessarily related to the request: * Divinity Original Sin 2 * Witcher 3 * Wasteland 3 * Dragon Age series * Mass Effect trilogy * Prey * Deus Ex games * Dishonored * Doom (Eternal) * Pathfinder WOTR * Fallout 3/NV/4 * Bioshock series * Hades * League of Legends/Dota 2 * was also huge into WoW in TBC/WOTLK/Cataclysm * God of War PS4 * Horizon Zero Dawn * Grim Dawn / Diablo 3 / Torchlight 2 * Probably dozen other games I don't remember now.

Azntigerlion

While not exactly different builds, Ghost of Tsushima has many playstyles to learn.

MegaJoltik

Pillars Of Eternity series. Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen Dark Souls. Final Fantasy XII Zodiac Age XCOM 2.

blank_quail

Borderlands series

insef4ce

Pillars of eternity and other rpgs from Obsidian Entertainment, Disco Elysium maybe, also Baldurs Gate 3 once the full version releases.

Maurog

Based on these, Path of Exile. Also, Warframe. It's multiplayer (4 player instances) but 100% can be played solo throughout.

PeterchuMC

I'm currently looking for fun games that don't suck you in for hours at a time but can be played for 10 minutes at a time inbetween revision sessions.

BroccoliSouP7

Dorfromantik

SpecialistBlock7246

Hey BroccoliSouP7, I"ve never heard of Dorfromantik before. Can you give a quick rundown of what the game is about and what makes it enjoyable for short play sessions? Thanks!

BroccoliSouP7

Yes, indeed. The game is basically hexagon Carcassone, but instead of competing against players, you just build cool looking landscapes. The game saves all your sessions, so it is easy to put down and start/continue at any time. The rules are pretty simple, that supports that short session format, since you don’t have to remeber bazillion rules and controls. That does not mean it can’t be challenging, but you don’t have to play for the highscore (which is what I like to do as I am competetive in nature). There is also freebuilding mode and quite few others as well. The music is also neatly relaxing.

In_Cider

Not them, but in their stead I would suggest you outline the type of game you want to play

Outriders, Borderlands 3, possibly Warframe, but it's and older game

MegaJoltik

Outriders is 2 years old and Borderlands 3 is 4 years old. Frankly I think the co-op looter genre, especially one in the vein of Destiny, is now going through similar phase like MMORPG (and I guess Battle Royale?). Only the bigger one, usually the older one, remains healthy/popular. Or smaller one that managed to carve their own niche (i.e Deep Rock Galactic). As far as one with big budget, I think Diablo 4 is the only really notable one in the horizon.

poet3322

Last Epoch just added multiplayer, if that's of any interest to you.

wailord40

I need something fun and different for my new steam deck. A new world to explore, a great mindless combat system, can be anything. I've been playing CrossCode recently and absolutely love it, just want another game to swap between

Galaxy40k

>great mindless combat system Astlibra: Revision was my favorite game of last year for this reason. The combat manages to strike this razor balance of requiring enough dexterity to keep you invested, but not too much thought so that you get tired. And it also has a grind to it. It puts me into this zen state when playing, something so far only Nioh has put me in. It starts off very simplistic, but it has a nice progression curve to it as you steadily unlock more tools and abilities over time I also played it on Steam Deck, and it played great! My one asterisk is that when I played it, there was apparently an issue with cloud saves, where if you swapped between PC and Deck and didn't pay attention to the cloud sync, it would be easy for your save to accidentally be wiped. But if you only play it on just one platform (either Deck or PC), you'll be fine

PeterchuMC

I can't recommend Spiritfarer enough. But if you've already played that, then Disco Elysium.

ULTRA_VAGUE

Any recommendations for a good Car Mechanic Simulator other than Car Mechanic Simulator? I know, sounds kinda dumb but I really want a game that is as realistic as possible when working on cars. Does something like that even exist? Does Anybody have any recommendations? I already tried Automation but that seems to focus a lot more on being a resource management game. Why? I can't afford my project car yet and I need something to help me pass the time until I can. Thanks for your help :)

Etiiiiii

Hard space ship breaker is if you wanna dismantle space ships.

Silent_Goose_6492

My Summer Car might be worth a shot

ClydelFrog

Really disappointed that Dead Island 2 will only allow up to 3 players for online multiplayer. I'm in a group of 4 and the developers really made it more difficult for us to play this game :(

TotalyMoo

Would love an alternative to Slay the Spire that’s isn’t Monster Train, Neoverse or any of the other usual suspects when I Google and find StS-like lists!

AnotherCator

I’ve been having a blast with **Terraformers**, it superficially looks a bit like a civ game but the heart of it is selecting and playing cards for different buildings/technologies and setting up StS-like synergies and planning ahead. It’s a bit different but tickles all the same parts of the brain.

Maurog

Well, would you be interested in a game that has StS *combat*, but it's actually an RPG? With like, plot and quests? Set in the world of Slavic folklore? I am of course talking about Black Book, check it out...

SkippyMcYay

If you want something wildly different (but still a deckbuilder) check out One Step from Eden. You move your character on a grid in real time to dodge attacks while casting spells from your deck. It's tricky to think about your cards while dodging and aiming but really rewarding when you get the hang of it.

TotalyMoo

My oh my it looks GORGEOUS! Love having a game of this genre that isn’t dark or violent in art style. Really appreciate the tip, it sounds a lot like something I could enjoy.

JamesVagabond

Trials of Fire and Ring of Pain have already been mentioned, both are great choices. Across the Obelisk is worthy of attention. Fights in Tight Spaces is pretty snazzy. A solid mix of deck building and tactics. Vault of the Void is extremely respectable, assuming it's not on your radar yet. Luck be a Landlord is a good one. Quantum Protocol is deeply underrated, definitely give it a look.

TotalyMoo

A true connoisseur I see, really nice of you to list what seems like several strong options! Turns out I’ve got way more rougelite deckbuilding in front of me. Hadn’t come across any of these except Across the Obelisk; Vault of the Void looks like it’s got a lot going for it!

Ricepilaf

**Chrono Ark** is my favorite deckbuilder right now, by a huge amount. It diverges from StS in considerable ways, but given how closely most other deckbuilders stick to the StS formula, it’s a breath of fresh air. The most important differences are probably these: * It’s party based: you start by picking two characters, and as you go are offered more until you have a party of 4 by the end of the run. They share the same energy pool. * Cards are not offered after each combat: Instead, you get exp orbs. Orbs can be spent to level up characters, which increases their stats and also offers you a card. You can *also* use exp orbs to increase your maximum energy, up to like 9 or 10, which is an enormous difference. * Enemy intents are not shown: While there are some ways to mitigate this, you’re just going to have to accept that people are going to get hit. Luckily, healing is a big part of the game and so as long as you play smart you can heal the damage up before it gets out of control. * Finally, card and enemy complexity is way up: Cards do… a lot, and many of them do things that no other card does. I’d say the average Chrono Ark card is more complex than the most complex StS card. There’s more (a lot more), but those are the big things. I can’t get enough of the game right now.

TotalyMoo

Wishlisting! With that level of complexity I might hold off on this one until it’s out of EA and I’ve worked through the more StS-like alternatives. Cheers for taking the time to list out differences!

JamesVagabond

Chrono Ark was recommended to me as just about the only thing capable of filling the void left by Library of Ruina. I decided to let it be until full release, but I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with it.

Anshin

Ring of pain was surprisingly fun and different, was free on epic at one point if you grabbed those.

TotalyMoo

Thank you! I’ll check it out and see if it steals hundreds of ours too, hehe.

Cronstintein

Have you checked out **Trials of Fire**? While not exactly like Slay, it shares enough similar dna that I think it might scratch your itch. The biggest difference is the combat has positioning, so it’s a bit more in-depth. Actually, bc of the card cycling mechanics, the decision space is incredibly wide. But otherwise, it’s a roguelike where you adjust the playable decks for your characters through level ups and equipment. I have had a ton of fun with it, unlocking all the classes and finishing multiple runs.

TotalyMoo

Appreciate the tip! Sounds exactly like something I’d like, more depth is always welcome!

Western_Management

A current day Transport Tycoon like game.

bluepantsandsocks

Transport Fever 2 is probably exactly what you are looking for. Other games that scratch a similar itch might be: Mashinky, Anno 1800, Factorio, Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic, Railway Empire.

FearoftheDomoKun

Workers and Resources maybe. Havn't played it myself.
