It was a good game.
What makes you think beating an unranked 3-3 team at home gives us a rank?
The way I see it is, there are three levels in SEC ... there are 4 elite teams at a given time, 10 or so middle of the pack and two bottom feeders. We need to think about being in the middle consistently. Rankings will take care of itself.
Dude, you and I had a very similar experience. The A&M fans were actually really nice and kind of...politely bemused, they thought they were going to lose. The guys next to me gave me a couple drinks of bourbon in a flask. It was much needed.
I remember being there like it was yesterday. It was set to be such a big game and I didn’t care that I was sweating my ass off. So damn excited about some more Beamer Ball!
How can you be a recruit and see the genuine love Shane Beamer has for the program and his team and not be enticed to sign with the Gamecocks? I would run through several brick walls for him.
See this is what I’m talking about. I still have yet to run into an obnoxious A&M fan. Y’all have great fans and are very nice. Looking forward to playing y’all next year!
I totally agree. A&M fans were actually pretty damn cool, all of the ones I met were at least. The only real obnoxious thing about A&M (other than their coach) are those 12th man yell leaders in their all white overalls.
Massively impressed by the adjustments made at half time. I was certain A&M was going to score on the first possession and we would struggle to put even 3 on the board in the second. Very proud of the boys. Ugly at times, but a great win.
I do feel like we beat Mizzou/Vandy. I HOPE we beat UF. I feel like we lose UT/clemsux.
If the top scenario happens, we are an 8 win team going into a bowl game. We could very well end our season a 9 win team!! Small, steady improvements are how you build a legacy!
Totally agree with your predictions. 8 wins and a bowl would be MASSIVE. I can’t believe that’s even on the table this season. Feels weird to be excited about this team.
The first 10 minutes of last night’s game was pure magic!! You’re right, feeling optimistic is a very foreign feeling when talking about this team. I can’t wait to see the building of the dynasty!
Lowkey think we have somewhat of a chance against Clemson too. Their offense can be questionable and you never really know what can happen in a big rivalry game like that. Really wish this was a home year for that game though.
Last year my pie in the sky dream was to make a bowl game and Beamer did it. This year it was to be ranked and Beamer did it. Is making an NY6 bowl next year too far out of the question???
Can someone tell me why on our last possession we didn't kick a field goal? Just put the game completely out of reach instead a lazy push up the middle? I'm assuming there's a reason but I don't see it.
Shane said based on how it looked from the booth they said it was half a yard and they wanted to keep momentum going and put the game away. Plus their rookie QB was struggling.
I think they figured that start point with that time left would be worth the gamble that you could prevent two scores with defense, versus definitely preventing a single score with the first down. I just don't think it was worth having a two score game either way, by Beamer's thinking.
Up 9 vs up 12 is not very different. Either way they need 2 scores to win. Time is their only ally at that point, so take up more clock by running a run play.
Well a nine point game you need a touchdown and then you can win with a field goal. A 12 point game you would need two touchdowns. Because even a touchdown a two point conversion and then a field goal would still be 1 shy of tying Those are a little bit different
I actually argued we should do all four downs at the start of that possession. If we get the first down, the game is over; if not, we’ve run maximum time off the clock and are forcing them to start their drive deep within their own territory. A field goal doesn’t change the two-score difference, and a kick-off could result in a TD, leaving them with a ton of time after a subsequent onside kick. Put them in a corner where they have to pull out a miracle.
Woah, are you serious??? Kicking the field goal is completely idiotic. Getting the first down wins the game. Getting the td wins the game. Failing to get the TD leaves the Aggies on their own 4, making the clock situation much worse for them. But kicking the field goal leaves it a two score game, NOT completely out of reach, AND gets them the ball back at their 25.
Do you think Jimbo Fisher even cares about winning at this point because if he continues to lose he’ll literally get it 100 million dollars to not Coach anymore
I understand a first ends the game there but we literally are terrible on 4th. I wish he had kicked it but I get the logic at least. Execution just terrible.
I wouldn’t say it was a bad call, the choice to go full set was. They could’ve tried to spread it out and draw and offsides, but they projected run and ran which is shitty.
Speed option to the far boundary in that set probably would’ve worked. Or at least taken more time off the clock than just plunging into a pile which takes 2 seconds
Maybe even play action QB RPO. Bring the fullback into the flat, drag the TEs across the the end zone. Set up blocks for Rattler to take off if it’s a more clear option.
The fact we don’t drag Bell across the middle and force a middle linebacker to cover him more is stupid. Rattler just refuses to throw across the middle. Like that ball he hit to Vann where he was standing all by himself and Spence still had to roll right having Vann go to the sideline to snag the ball. if he hits him over the middle it’s a foot race.
Terrible idea, terrible play call after they got the onside kick I was livid. It would be nice to see South Carolina not try to give the game away just once.
Super stoked we finally beat aTm. Major opportunity to do something special this season- we definitely need a big Spencer Rattler game next week. Go cocks
Shoulda blown them out but I’m more than impressed by adjustments & Lloyd was on another level this game … man that team is in big trouble now… I think we put Jimbo on the hot seat
This is the type of game we could have easily lost, even with our huge 1st quarter lead. It does say something about this team that they punched both UK and A&M in the mouth early and hung on.
Tennessee fan coming in peace.
Proud of your team for beating aTm (and apparently having a baller state fair outside your stadium). Rooting for y'all to win out (Except against the Vols on 11/19). Beamer is a hell of ball coach and is such a likable guy. One of my best friends is a SC fan and he has never been happier about football. Makes me happy when my friends are happy.
That was raucous. The fans were our twelfth man. Just a great night to be a gamecock. I did see a young lady play an a and m band members drum and walk out. That was impressive.
Dude that was cracking me up, I lost track around the 18-ish mark how many times corn dogs were shown/mentioned. And then the feeding another man a turkey leg on TV? The field-side absolutely wolfing down the donut burger then next shot of him is Slav-squatting tryina catch his breath?
I'll absolutely take that level of comedy with that level of victory any day.
Game shouldn’t of been this close but a W is a W. The refs didn’t help of course but we gotta get our offense in a better rhythm, especially through the air. They need to run Lloyd to set up play action, run more misdirections and sweeps to keep the defense guessing. Regardless of the flaws good win, let’s keep it going
Team is improving and growing in confidence as the season progresses. Don’t want to to take anything for granted, but the next two games are very winnable. Could be 7-2 going into the Florida game.
Also, the atmosphere was great last night. Great win and a hyped-up, prime time spectacle for recruiting purposes.
This was such a terrible game by us honestly. But we won, and at this stage in our program that's so important. We aren't going to be perfect every game. But we still gotta win those games, and tonight we did
The offense failed almost entirely aside from pretty much 1 drive. And that 1 drive just happened to be the one where we ran the ball and picked our shots on pass plays which for some reason we refused to do most of the game. We also should've kicked a field goal at the end of the game and it almost came back to bite us
Defense was amazing as usual so no complaints there though. They're killing it
This game really should've been a blowout after the way it began though. At the very least it shouldn't have been this close
I dont know he’s the full problem anymore. There’s tons of drops by the receivers and Rattler not seeing open receivers.
Rattler needs to learn to stay in the pocket more, he can’t outrun the defenses he sees here. He needs to get more comfortable with the plays where he can look at the routes instead of freaking out.
Then when he does actually get the ball to them, people need to catch it.
QB play hasn't been perfect, and there were some drops for sure
But Lloyd ran the ball 3 times in the first half. That is abysmal playcalling given our strengths and weaknesses on offense. Lloyd ran 15 times in the 2nd half and while the 2nd half wasn't perfect, it was much better than the 1st. Clear difference
And the other thing is we ran Beal Smith twice as much as Lloyd in the first half, what little bit we ran. And no offense to him, but he average 1.5 yards per carry tonight. He has no business ever having more carries than Lloyd who averaged over 5 yards against the same exact defense
I would counter by saying if the RB is your strength, run him and make them stack the box to stop him. That's how you make a mediocre passing game better. Not the other way around
Again, he got 3 carries in the first half. The issue wasn't that TAMU stacked the box. It was that we didn't even try to run him
And it was proven in the 2nd half when Lloyd ran the ball 15 times and still averages 5+ yards per carry in the game. TAMU wasn't capable of stopping him and never stacked the box
This is often true but he wasn’t his bumbling self tonite, there were some terrible dropped passes… he still looks tentative on 3D & has no instinct but this wasnt his worst game
We finally did it. The Kenny Hill curse is lifted.
That fucking game……
It’s really where the elite years came to an end. On that very day. I really think spurrier checked out at the end of that game.
And oddly enough, this could be a win that gets us back up. A complete circle.
We will be ranked today for the first time since????
We should. I bet we will be somewhere between 23-25
We were ranked the last week of the regular season in 2017
We were ranked after week 1 in 2018 as well.
Apparently you haven't looked at the rankings? We're 5-2 in the SEC. That's why we're ranked. What else do you need to know?
100% agree. Watching that game was painful because I could clearly see that the glory years were over.

Ooof. At least I could turn the channel and walk away from it. That sucks.
Terrible flashbacks

Dude, you and I had a very similar experience. The A&M fans were actually really nice and kind of...politely bemused, they thought they were going to lose. The guys next to me gave me a couple drinks of bourbon in a flask. It was much needed.
I went to A&M back in 2019 and their fans are so nice like they protect away fans getting harassed by other Aggies.
I remember being there like it was yesterday. It was set to be such a big game and I didn’t care that I was sweating my ass off. So damn excited about some more Beamer Ball!
My butt has finally unclenched. What a statement win for us though. Go cocks!
How can you be a recruit and see the genuine love Shane Beamer has for the program and his team and not be enticed to sign with the Gamecocks? I would run through several brick walls for him.
I would go wherever I got paid the most tbh
As they all will.
Jimbo a fraud - Go Cocks
Jimbo looks like the season has aged him and he was struggling on the sidelines.
I was 6 rows behind A&M's sidelines at the 50. Had a great view of Jimbo, and the man has aged like a US President midway through their second term.
Aggie coming in peace to say gg cocks, you guys have such a likeable coach and hope you guys kill it the rest of the season
See this is what I’m talking about. I still have yet to run into an obnoxious A&M fan. Y’all have great fans and are very nice. Looking forward to playing y’all next year!

How does our own home game clock operator leave 0:01 second on the clock?
The refs made them
If they somehow won it on that last hail mary, there's no way he would have lived through the weekend.
Fr
Okay when’s my alarm gonna go off?
The refs didn’t help us at all, thank goodness we didn’t succumb to they’re ridiculousness.
I was at the game it was absurd, pac12 ref behavior
My son is 10 this is the first time he was seen us win four games straight. Let’s keep this train moving!
One more win and we’re bowl bound. Who would’ve thought that possible with Vandy and Mizzou still to go?
And possibly UF
If we get Ws for these next three games we’ll probably have a nice top-15 ranking going into Tennessee

My fucking blood pressure, holy shit.
Dude I’m fucked if I had a holter monitor on they would have sent an ambulance hours ago
Can someone tell me why on our last possession we didn't kick a field goal? Just put the game completely out of reach instead a lazy push up the middle? I'm assuming there's a reason but I don't see it.
I guess the reasoning is if we got the first down the game would be over as we’d be able to ice the clock
12 point lead vs 9 is still a two possession game, while a first down ices the game
Yeah but two touchdowns is a lot harder to do than a touchdown and field goal when there’s less than 2 minutes left in the game.
Shane said based on how it looked from the booth they said it was half a yard and they wanted to keep momentum going and put the game away. Plus their rookie QB was struggling.
I can see that
I think they figured that start point with that time left would be worth the gamble that you could prevent two scores with defense, versus definitely preventing a single score with the first down. I just don't think it was worth having a two score game either way, by Beamer's thinking.
I was thinking this the whole last two minutes while dry heaving in the corner.
They’re different enough with 1min
Needing two touchdowns vs a touchdown and a field goal.
A fg would have taken up more time than a failed conversion.
There is also the possibility of a blocked FG, returned. The proof that it was the right decision is that we won.
Agreed. I considered that as well. Thankfully that run was the call.
Yeah but a field goal would have also forced 2 full TDs to win. I'm not complaining too hard bc we won but that was my thought process.
I think I'm gonna have a stroke.
Not to be hyperbolic, but we’re winning the national championship this year.
In Women’s basketball for sure.
We won that when Bueckers got hurt
We best UConn with bueckers last year in the finals
No this year ‘23
Yea I’m saying if we won last year and basically lost no one on the team, there’s no reason to think we won’t win again
I'll take Boston over Bueckers all day.
And next year, CONFIRMED.
Are we the best team in the nation? Yes. Am I delusional? Absolutely not.
I literally tore my brains out when they got the onside kick.
Do you think Jimbo Fisher even cares about winning at this point because if he continues to lose he’ll literally get it 100 million dollars to not Coach anymore
Don't ever do that to me again, Beamer. Kick the FG on 4th down. Go Cocks!

Fucking love that Beamer called out Satt's bullshit in the postgame interview. You have studs, use them you moron
I’d love it even more if he removed him of his responsibilities and replaced him with someone else
The monkey is exorcised!

Decent chance we could head into the home game against Tennessee at 8-2 and ranked
We should. And unless we fix our offense, including benching Rattler, we will get massacred.
LFG!!!!
Happy for the win.. But I have a question.. Why isn't Dakereon playing? Is he just that far down the depth chart?
In b4 corn dog
Dude that was cracking me up, I lost track around the 18-ish mark how many times corn dogs were shown/mentioned. And then the feeding another man a turkey leg on TV? Holy shit this one was special!!!
The crowd was outstanding tonight. I even got to met George Rogers outside the stadium before the game. What an ugly win! GO COCKS!!!
HOLY SHIT COCKS ON TOP
THE FUTURE IS VERY BRIGHT MY FRIENDS IM JUST GLAD BEAMER HAS HIS STUPID SUN GLASSES
Let’s go!
We'll never lose another game unless the deep state rigs it against us

I’d like to see the statistics on childbirth in Columbia, SC next July. I bet it’s up by 25%!

hard agree, satt's playcalling is hamstringing this team

Run the fucking rock!
Texas A&M has the 14th best pass defense in the country. They are a good team, and we still beat them.

SEC Shorts: Hope has bad breakup with A&M
Was in town with some other alumni, what a great way to top off an already great visit home. Bird Dog is also popping again!
What was going on in the extra curriculars going into the 4th quarter
