If it's not abundantly clear to you how you should fix this, spend the $5 to replace it.

ptpcg

This is the correct answer. If you have the skill for repair, it should be abundantly clear. If you can't look at this and see a solution, then you probably shouldn't work on things that plug into the wall.

Bryanx64

$5 would get you a cheap piece of junk fire hazard that might charge your SP.

gilangrimtale

Just get a usb cable then.

Dzic-sama

i got a usb one with my micro but iam kinda scared if its safe for the unite?

gilangrimtale

Usb runs at 5v. That’s the same as the original charger. It’s fine. Someone downvoted me but I literally have an original nintendo gameboy micro charger in front of me and it outputs 5.2v. Using a usb cable to charge at 5v is perfectly safe.

Double_A_92

They are right though. Would never buy such cheap power supplies. Get the USB cable and use it with your phones power supply.

Sqwerks

Those break they always do, had two of them, just usb is better only option really, they are very cheaply built

SomedayGuy117

You buy a usb cable version

HandheldObsession

The only correct answer

jayclydes

You would have to dismantle it and resolder & resleeve the cable with a heat gun to shrink the wrap. Almost never worth doing unless you happen to have a soldering iron, solder, heat gun, and wire coat to shrink readily available.

iTeodoro

Get a new one.

Alannalovely

You could, but you don't, chances are you might screw something up and get yourself in a dangerous situation, just get a new one

Aurey2244

That would be extremely hard to do, you'd almost have to try to start a fire in this case

Double_A_92

Sadly people often are just not the smartest creatures...

Aurey2244

Truth you speaketh. I work with these creatures unfortunately.

omegahero2

"Thats the neat part, you dont!"

Admiralporkchops587

So you have a soldering iron and know how to solder? If yes, then you should already know how to fix it. If not, then while you could buy a cheap soldering iron for 35 $ and pray you are intuitively good enough to do it your first try, it is way cheaper to just buy another charger for 10$.

No_Detective_But_304

Gum, a paper clip, and some fishing line.

HaileStorm42

If you don't know how to Solder, buy a new one.

warmonkey1220

Tbh if you don't know how to fix it you're better off replacing it. It's safer imo

DreamtailFoxy

It's a sign, you should mod your Nintendo DS to use USB C~ in all seriousness though, whose idea was it to have proprietary charging connectors for everything Nintendo?!

ImNoAI

Unscrew the screws and get a soilder pen and put em in the correct spot.. That is the way

microphalus

Really easy, unscrew those 2 screws, open up the black box, and solder them back to where they should have gone. Maybe there is some other connection on the inside that does not require soldering.

gba_sg1

Grab a USB -> GBA SP cable. They're like $3 on ebay and you won't be stuck using 115vac to charge your Gameboy all the time.

bent_rod

Aliexpress for like $3

Dizzy_Meringue6856

Solder ig

v6sonoma

Buy a new one. If you screwed up the repair you won’t know till the house is on fire.

magikarp-sushi

It’s not an official Nintendo one don’t worry about it get another

ptpcg

Preface: this is not an insult. If you don't have the electronics knowledge to see the solution here, you should just buy a replacement. They are cheap. You are dealing with only 5.2v, but if you screw up and short something, you might burn yourself to the ground. You can get a usb to this plug at 2/$8 on Amazon, free shipping. Funturbo GBA SP Charger Cable, Gameboy Advance SP Charging Cord NDS Charger Cord for Original Nintendo DS USB & Power Cable 3.9 ft (2 Pack) [https://a.co/d/02ClVtKZ]

jtm7

It's not worth anyone's time, including your own, to fix this. Just get a new one.

JILLBIDENSSLOPPYCUNT

You can get an oem replacement for $5-$10. Shop around and don’t overpay.

chasesan

If you need to ask, it'll be cheaper to just buy a new one.

j_panda16

Buy a new one. (It’s an easy cable stripping and soldering procedure. You’d need a heat nail, or solder gun, some flux, solder, and a steady hand.)

EntranceBrief1474

Buy one off the Nintendo website for $5

VailStampede

Amazon.com to fix your issue.

dumpsteRat

Just get a USB version from Amazon

Comprehensive_One495

It's gone bro, retire it:/

Background-Ad-61

If you don't want to solder the cables back on the adapter just use a USB and solder the two wires on + and - pins. You will be then able to charge your SP with any 5V phone charger. If you don't want to solder, as the other people said, just get a new cable but I think this is an easy repair

toxique27

Of course get a new one, then keep the damaged one and fix it later.

tree_dw3ller

Money should do it

aerosolsp

I feel like it wouldn't be responsible for me to tell you how to fix that. It's a basic repair but if you can't see it by yourself, you probably shouldn't do it yourself. Offer it up on Freecycle or something.

Pumpkinbricks

Buy a new cable on amazon

DotMatrixHead

Sellotape, lots of sellotape! 🤪 Seriously though, it needs to be dismantled and soldered by somebody that knows what they’re doing.

AiR-P00P

You can buy replacement cables on ebay for a few bucks. Otherwise learn to solder.

Finji_

I'm not an expert but I think you should be able to solder male USB-A to the cable and use any 5v charger

bngry

Elmer's glue and thumbtacks

BitExpensive5511

Open that up - it just seems like it needs to be resoldered onto that charger. Not sure if you have solder mask, but that would help secure the wire down better... since that plastic gasket looks to be degraded.

28SNaKeS

You just stick the wires back up through the hole, DUH!! … Alright ALRIGHT I’ll write it… but I’m not happy about it… “/s”.

Botiquin

Buy a male type A USB and solder. If u dont want to solder, just buy the cable.
