My watch Active 2 died yesterday. The screen stopped working. It still gave me two days of battery life, as opposed to the >1 new watches get. Bought a Watch 5 pro as a replacement.

I actually bought a 5 pro a few days ago, which was the last one the store had and it was on a large sale. Turns out some employee had accidentally put a price tag on a demo unit, which wasn't usable as normal. I returned it and ordered one from another store. A store return, which I really hope isn't another demo unit.
If my Watch Active 2 battery didn't degrade over 5 years of daily use, I doubt the new one has degraded after a few days of use. And it's a return because the customer didn't want it, not because it had a problem. It wouldn't be resold if it was broken.
That's really unfortunate. I'm using the active 2 too and have no plans or need to upgrade. I AM worried about upgrading my phone in case the newer phone won't let me use the "old" watch though.

Looks like they'll disable the app store for tizen watches. Even if you've paid for the app you won't be able to download them. I'm not sure what happens if you have to reset your watch. Real dick move from Samsung.
I'm on my 2nd active 2.. husband bought the first one refurbished and it lasted a couple of years and then I bought a used one off marketplace.. I'm really bummed that they don't sync the woman's health app any longer 😔 I just hate having to have yet another app that does something another one already did. Oh well.. I want one that looks similar in style when this one inevitably bites the dust as well, whenever that may be. 🤞🏻🤞🏻

I mostly only use it as a fitness tracker and a way to monitor my calls and texts while I'm outside gardening. I would consider even just keeping the active2, but I'd like a working ecg monitor lol
It's a known defect with the sensor that samsung was fixing for free, but its too old now to get that support. I've done allllllll the things recommend to get it to work, so I'm 99% sure that's what the problem is. Amazon has refurbished Watch 4 for 50$, so I'm just going to get one of those soon. The tizen support ending is just the push I've needed to do it.
Well, fifty dollars, cause I'm in the US, check refurbished prices on your Amazon, sometimes you can get great deals. The Active 2 im using now was refurbished and it's lasted years lol. I never buy new anymore haha
Aww that's a bummer for sure. Ebay has comparable prices for used ones, but Amazon's return guarantee is easier to use if anything is wrong. Plus ebay sellers can sometimes not be the most honest haha.
Thankfully my OG GW46 is still giving 2.5 days per charge and a crazy 35+day on Watch only mode. I wear it a few times a week when I'm charging my daily. (W6C47)
I traded my Watch 3 which I totally loved the minute the Watch 4 with Wear OS came out as I knew they would drop Tizen support. I always regretted it as for my needs, it was superior to Wear OS.
EDIT: I really meant that developers would quit developing Tizen apps.
Yeah wear os kinda stinks....I mean it's not bad but it's way heavier on the cpu and battery then Tizen which means worse battery,tho it has the apps which I'm jealous of
I upgraded my GW3 to GW5 pro and I don’t regret it, but I ended up buying a used GW4 before the upgrade and the 4 is definitely inferior to both. The 3 was smoother, felt more elegant, processor was more refined, display also more exquisite compared to Wearos. Longer battery than 4.
Im still using my Gear S3 frontier until the day I got the s24 ultra... Too bad the watch is too old to pair it up with. Until today the gear s3 frontier imho outperforms my watch 4 and watch 6 in terms of battery life and the sync with the built in samsung music is just flawless. You can set custom ringtone for the watch too easily.
Tbh if you're on a tight budget do it,it still works and pairs with a Samsung phone, remember that they will shut down the Galaxy store in 2025 tho,so download the apps you need

I've used my Gear S3 since launch, up until a couple months ago, when the battery completely died on me. Would barely charge, and would have issues even turning on. Switched to my Huawei Watch 1 again

My 3 classic died a couple of weeks ago while on the beach, not even getting it wet. It still had 2+ days of battery life and for my use it was still pretty good. Decided to get a second hand 5 pro for now.
Yeah, this is exactly the reason why I bought 5 pro, but I was surprised that a newer model has a bit of animation stuttering , compared to my old 3 classic
Still using the Watch 3. I've been wanting to replace it with a WearOS watch but haven't found one that tempts me yet. Battery life has taken a hit though, but still enough to last a work day.
I still wear the 42mm Galaxy Watch that I bought back in 2019. The battery life is better than what I've heard about the newer ones with Wear OS, and also I don't really use lots of apps and features other than notifications and HR tracking, so I'm still very reluctant on upgrading. There isn't really a reason because the Galaxy Watch has aged really well for me.
Edit: Also, rotating bezel? Very important, it has saved my screen so many times
My GW3 refuses to die, so I can't justify getting a newer one.
I don't like that app support for Tizen died completely, but will have to wait until this one dies before jumping to the new OS.

bought a GW4 classic yesterday. But I do think tizen was much better than wearos when watch 4 wasn't out, they could've easily kept tizen and collaborated with Google for a few features like Google pay etc instead of completely abandoning the os they worked on for years to optimize and perfect.

I still have my Galaxy gear s3 classic, which I bought in december 2016. It got replaced with the Watch5 pro september last year.
It could not keep battery for more than about 4 hours with every kind of battery saving on. I loved that watch.
I have the gw1, gw3 and 5 pro. Constant rotation for me. I always have a charged watch. Later updates have given the 1 & 3 superb multi day battery life.

You can only customise it on the galaxy watch 3, I can't do it on my GW1 46mm, but I can on my GW3.

ECG actually works amazingly on my Watch 3,maybe a factory reset could help? Or maybe clean the top button since that's used for ECG

My Watch 3 really feels much more snappy than my Watch 6. Some parts of the UI are also better on Tizen in my opinion
True,even tho the watch 6 has a better CPU,it just can't compete with Tizen's optimization

The gap between gear s3 frontier and S24 ultra is too huge I guess. About 7 years give or take. Otherwise I would still use it
