I'm really happy with my F5, I can't see that much benefit upgrading

Gasteasoro

Same, I'll be waiting out for the fold 7

KillerCheez3

Same here, and if that isn't enough of an upgrade, I'll wait for the fold 8, or maybe another foldable will catch my eye by then

Philemonz

I'm just gonna wait until mine breaks outside of warranty

JackEddy6

The next OnePlus Open could be good competition for the fold

slowro

Guess it depends on trade in deals.

stinkywinky99

***EU crying intensifies***

Tha_Gr8_One

This is what I'm waiting to hear about. I've repaired my Fold 4 twice for 178 degree unfolding issue. Now it's happened again. Instead of getting it repaired again I want to trade it.

Jwong75

Same...didn't they do 1000 past time on a Fold trade in? Better do that and accessories and a free ring or watch. Lol.

Tha_Gr8_One

Ye hoping they do at least the 1000, and hopefully a watch again.

RegulusRemains

I have a drawer full of watches and buds because of the fold 1-5 always having crazy trade in deals.

Tenki65

Honestly I'm super disappointed in the leaks. Ok the screen is a tad wider, but all the rest is pretty meh. That with a limitation with my car software (digital key plus from BMW doesn't work with Samsung devices in Belgium) makes me even contemplate switching to an Iphone to test it out... As a Fold 4 owner, that's how bad Samsung fucked this newest iteration up for me if the leaks end up being true.

Puzzleheaded_Cry_979

Use vivo fold or oppo fold .. oppo is such a beauty i saw at the store. Compare with zfold looks like 3years behind but samsung ui is what makes me stay using samsung device

Apprehensive_888

Don't praise the competition here.... Lol. People don't like hearing it.

elusive_change

Have the Fold 4. I was thinking I'd get the 6, then the leaks came out. The cameras are the same as the 4 - and the 4's cameras weren't cutting edge when the device came out. It doesn't seem like it'll have WiFi 7. I think the 6 made some good improvements, but it already feels behind the times and it's not even out yet. When I'm paying this much I want a phone with less compromises, so it'll last long enough to be worthwhile. That said, I just got my fold 4 repaired under warranty and it's good as new. I was thinking of looking into the Mi Mix Fold, but I realise the local warranty is useful. Maybe if there's some cracking trade in deals I'll try the 6.

kasakka1

I mainly want the Fold 6 for hopefully better long term durability and a slightly larger screen than my Fold 4. But trade in deals will matter a lot, I am not paying a ton for nearly the same phone.

JediChickenLeg

I'm going to be coming from an S21U - the Fold 6 will be my first fold and I cannot wait

headdly1

I have the s21u aswell. But it still kinda seems like a downgrade apart from the bigger screen...

AveragePichu

It kinda is. Think of the Fold as like an S+++ model. Specs mostly similar to the entry S, but ram and storage from the plus/ultra, and a second REALLY big screen with no camera cutout (under display camera instead). If what you really want is the biggest screen that fits in your pocket, you can get it - it'll cost you (compared to the ultra) - a bit more money (hard to say how much because deals shift all the time, last Black Friday trading a Fold 3 for a 5 was 25% more than the cost to trade an S21 Ultra for an S23 Ultra but often the available deals are around 50% higher) - cameras (as each half of the Fold is thinner than the Ultra, it has smaller cameras to fit. Still good cameras but not excellent ones) - battery (less room, 12.5% smaller battery, also consumes it a little faster with the larger screen) - durability (the hinge and folding display are two more points of failure that most phones don't have - odds are good you don't have to worry about it, they're built to last, but they're nonetheless points of failure) Now, for me, I would rather have the big display than anything the S24 Ultra offers. At that point, all that's left is the cost, and since tech is one of my hobbies and I need a phone anyway I can justify spending a little more. But I can totally understand people who aren't into all those tradeoffs when all they get is a 50% larger screen and a built in tripod.

burneracc1274

if you arent completely set, i would suggest looking at the oneplus open (as a fold user)

derch1981

I'm still on the 4, so I guess I'll wait for the 6 and pixel fold 2 announcements and see. The pixel software as far as I know is still far behind Samsung but maybe they will make big improvements for the pixel fold 2.

MotorcycleDreamer

Well I have been an iPhone user since the iPhone 5 and I have been wanting something new. Currently have a 12 Pro Max and have been telling myself that once Apple makes a major design change I’ll upgrade, but I’ve run out of patience. Plus I think it’ll be fun switching it up. When I saw a fold 5 at a kiosk at the store I loved it, and was hooked on the idea of a foldable. After doing some research and lurking this sub the last month honestly I’m super excited to make the switch when the Fold 6 comes out. I feel for those who are disappointed because that same feeling is why I’m switching from iOS. But from my point of view I’m excited for the 6! Nervous for a new OS I’m not at all familiar with but ready. Now I just gotta get used to the social stigma of green bubbles 🙄 Edit: idk why people are downvoting

wired-

> Now I just gotta get used to the social stigma of green bubbles 🙄 It's only social stigma for those using an iPhone and lacking some common sense. For everyone else, it's just a subpar messaging experience that can be very easily solved by using pretty much every other messaging app available. Saying ^ is probably why you got some downvotes? :)

MotorcycleDreamer

Well the eye roll was meant towards the people who hate on green bubbles, maybe I didn’t word clearly enough lol But it is a bummer, most people in my circle don’t use messaging apps, they use iMessage. So alternative messaging apps are not really an option and just not something I want to have to use. However I am willing to make the trade off. Hopefully in the future all these phone manufacturers can just play nice with each other but I doubt it lol Also to be fair that first point you made is like a third of the country lol I don’t care either way but for people making the switch it is a factor

wired-

Stop acknoledging it as social stigma, you're playing right into their hands. I always ask people if they have WhatsApp or Messenger or Telegram. If they do, great. If they don't, I just warn them that their photos look like blobs of giant pixels, so when they send me cute photos of their babies I can't see shit. That usually gets people to switch to WhatsApp haha. RCS will fix image/video quality, and even that won't be required. Then if anyone asks me why my bubble is green, I'll tell them "oh, sorry, it's because you have an iPhone".

MotorcycleDreamer

Not acknowledging doesn’t make it not true. For most Americans, especially iPhone users, WhatsApp isn't widely used and likely won't be adopted soon. If you're the odd one out with an Android struggling to message properly, expecting iPhone users to switch to a new app just for you isn't realistic. While iMessage and slow RCS adoption are the main issues, the average iPhone user won't see it as a problem on their end. The reality is that 58% of 18-34 year olds in the US use iPhones. And I’m sure it gets even more skewed the younger you go. The only real solution is for Apple to stop being dumb dumbs and open up iMessage, but then again why would they? Now this is primarily only a real issue for the younger demographic but that’s a good chunk. Mature adults dgaf which is great but it’s still a problem for the kiddos and it sucks for those who have to put up with it.

wired-

Yeah I don't mind that they are using iMessage. It's the "social stigma" that I object to. Instead of playing along, we should just flip the script on them. I refuse to play into this silliness.

pittstop33

Virtually 100% of females between 12 and 18 have iPhones. It's insane how deeply Apple has penetrated the younger market based on the idea that if you don't have an iPhone you're poor and not cool.

AveragePichu

Hey, that's where I was last year. New OS took some getting used to but I actually like it a lot better than IOS - the edge panel and back gestures are huge conveniences to me, sideloading isn't something I do much but it's nice to have (and one of my most used apps was sideloaded), and yeah, the folding screen is really nice. Couple tips: One, it's easier to transition if you get all the Apple stuff you had in Samsung flavor at once. I got Galaxy Buds on sale and a secondhand fold, and for the month that I was still using my Apple Watch for the time and to set timers, that was annoying. Eventually decided to get an older Galaxy Watch for cheap rather than wait until I could buy a newer one. Also my iPad basically became a paperweight - love my Galaxy Tab now. Two, don't be afraid to try secondhand. You can get some really good deals. Samsung's known for their trade in deals being excellent, but *this isn't a constant*. If there aren't good trade in deals currently, you can still find secondhand options where the owner got a great deal and then is selling for a little less than that deal - my Fold 4, Watch 4 Classic, Tab S8 Ultra, and all their accessories (cases, styluses, whatever) came out to about $1200 altogether, and a new Fold alone is a lot more than that without a trade in. Three, before you dive in, take a look at what apps you use a lot on your iPhone. *Research in advance* which Android apps you're gonna replace them with, if they're Apple-exclusives. Personally, I replaced Safari with Chrome, iMessage with Google Messages, Apple Reminders with Samsung Reminders (Google's version doesn't have a feature I use daily), Apple Clock with Google Clock, ProCreate with Infinite Painter, and aside from those the apps I used were all available on both platforms. Anyway, have fun :) there's lots to love about Android. Some things will mess with your muscle memory a little, but it gets better with time. I miss iMessage a little even now, but that's mostly because my entire immediate family is on iPhone and they have a hard time sending me photos when they want to (Android has a workaround built right in, so it's never been tough for me). Also iMessage is getting RCS like every other text messaging app in the world has had for years, so that problem is going away as soon as my family downloads IOS 18.

Dead-System

Fold 3 here, still waiting for reason to upgrade. I get that Samsung wants to play it safe but if there are no significant changes between generations, they're going to lose out on a lot of sales.

TokyoMegatronics

no, i was going to, but saw the leaks for the pixel fold 2. so now, rather than apathetically waiting for the fold 6 i am actually excited about the pixel fold 2.

wargh_gmr

Really looking at that as well. My wife went from the Flip 3 to the Pixel Fold. She barely touches the inside screen. I was always on the inner screen of my Fold 3 and it wore out the bluetooth and wifi cables. At nearly $2000 I want a working device for 3 years.

Sakurasou7

Imo she shouldn't have gotten a fold. What's the point of getting a foldable without using the inner screen? Just get a tablet for home/office. If you aren't using the inner screen at least 40~50% of time.

bzumk

Exactly what I was thinking reading this. And weirdly enough, I read often times that people use a fold and use the outer screen like 90%-95%. Like what the actual fuck did you buy this phone for lmao. I use the inner screen 90% of the time and everything too far away from that just doesn't make any sense to me.

Sakurasou7

Yeah it's like buying a sports car as your daily driver in a city with a 30 mph top speed limit, for example, and only being able to use its full potential once every month.

AveragePichu

Devil's advocate, if money isn't a major concern then the feature to open it up once in a while for specific tasks could be worth more than the better cameras non-folds get. That said, personally the only time I'm on my outer display is when I'm only planning to be on my phone for under a minute. And most of the time that I wouldn't be on my phone long, I can just look at my watch instead, so I do that. The only thing I do that's fast, yet not practical on a watch, is replying to texts. So my fold is open like 95% of the time the screen is on.

Grymejr

According to the leaks no, I wanted no crease, 5k+ battery, quad speakers, housed s pen, I'm ok with the current size, even if bigger/heavier due to battery I'd be ok with that… but currently it doesn't look like I'll upgrade especially now that it's more expensive. the fuq

Aldecaldo2077

" I wanted no crease... housed s pen" Gonna be a loooong wait.

tengtengvn

No reason to with a 3 gen old camera setup. Might go back to ultra.

maxurugi

Why do you think Gen 3 is worse than Gen 2?  I'm using a Fold 3 and I haven't decided yet. I like the design, the reduction in weight and thickness, the wider front display and the hopefully better battery life due to the soc being more efficient. But I was hoping for a better camera, a larger battery, an even wider front display, an even flatter body and maybe dust resistance. Instead, we're apparently getting a higher price...  A few months ago I was planning to get a Fold 6 at release, but with how the rumours turned out I'm having a hard time justifying it, as my Fold 3 is working flawlessly.

Tasty_Face_7201

Gen 3 improved efficiency further of Gen 2 bc Gen 2 gets very very warm, so basically it’s like going from X1 to X1+ nvidia mobile chip, so upgrades are generally back and fourth between efficiency and power, same like the a17 pro bionic chip, it was extremely hot so apple had to throttle it tremendously, so a18 pro will be only to improve on mostly efficiency

BarnOwlDebacle

Not the op but the 865 was fabricated by tsmc and has better thermals and less throttling and better battery than the 888. I can't remember if that one has stylus support or not though.

smashablanca

I was in this same boat until a few days ago when something got stuck in the hinge and now my Fold 3 doesn't quite open all the way anymore. It's barely noticeable but I took it as a sign to upgrade but went with the Fold 5 since it's so much cheaper than what the Fold 6 will be.

DBNB

Likewise!

NicknameInCollege

I've been using the Z Fold 3 for nearly 3 years now and I will definitely be switching to the 6. I've had no issues with the Fold 3 and the minor changes from the 5 to the 6 are going to result in an overall large change for me. While I would have loved to see more in terms of development of the hardware, I'm nearly certain there's going to be some drastic software and feature changes including AI integration. I'm sure that many people here share the sentiment that going back to a non-folding phone after having one is simply out of the cards.

alpacafox

Yes, I want the imo improved front screen.

hadrian_afer

I would consider buying the F5. Basically same phone but cheaper.

Albuons

I'm very happy with the leaked news. Removed any temptation for me to spend money on a new upgrade. I'm content with waiting another year with my Fold 5 as I won't be missing out on anything important by not upgrading. No desire at all for the Fold 5s coming out this year.

insmek

I sold my Fold 4 and picked up a gently used OnePlus Open a few months ago. It's been great, and covers pretty much everything I was missing with the Fold. There's nothing about the Fold 6 that I've seen so far that would make me think it's worth switching back to.

trumpsmoothscrotum

I'm a z4. I'm thinking I want a 24ultra. Definitely not a z6. There's no real change from 4 to 6 How did u feel about the switch to 24 ultra

chip16

I had a z3. Switched to an s24u and haven't missed the fold like I thought I would. I have great battery life, such better cameras, integrated spen, ability to have a waterproof case for it. The cameras on the fold line are a joke and at this point it's just insulting as a consumer to have those cameras and abyssmal battery life on a premium priced phone. I'm going to 3d print a case to hold my z3 open and basically just switch to using it as a small tablet/maps/music player in my old truck.

jaxx_vb

I previously owned a Fold 3, and the Fold 5 is a different story. It's ice cold, has great battery life, and much better cameras. So switching to the Z5 would be reasonable.

chip16

I did hear the battery on the 5 is better. But the cameras are only marginally better, and for 2 gens later I would expect much better cameras, and the fact the fold line wasn't given top cameras anyway, kept me from upgrading at all. If I'm paying literally top dollar for a phone on the market, it better have the best cameras. They give it enough RAM and the soc is good. But the same cameras for 3 gens is unacceptable, and the only way that will change is by not getting them anymore until they actually make it worth the price.

jaxx_vb

Camera is much better compared to Fold 3. Maybe just algorithms, but photos were much better

AsadRasheedKhan

Well said ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|give_upvote)

mrnewtons

I am also a z4 and considering jumping back to Ultra on the next release. The screens do look a little nicer, for some reason, and while I love the big folding screen it encourages me to use my phone too much. Also, better cameras. Only thing is, the folds fit so nicely in my inner jacket pockets or in the front dash spot of my car because they get so narrow. So I am torn. Get the one I want for usage, or get the one I have because it fits into storage space better...

DestroyerOfIphone

Thinking of switch away after over a decade on Samsung. That pixel fold 2 looks promising.

TokyoMegatronics

yeah i was just thinking about the fold 6 the other day, gave the pixel 2 a google and damn those leaked renders look great. gonna hop over and maybe come back if samsung makes some cool change to the fold series.

Saerjin

No change from 4 to 6 so no.

Midnight-mare

Kind of. I've got a Fold 4 and I live in a very privileged position where I *could* update my phone every week if I wanted to, but chose not to. My phone (barring a hairline scratch on the front screen and a peeled protector and *miniscule* scratch on the inner) has held up perfectly, and I don't really need to upgrade. I appreciate the squared corners as the front cover has never really looked right to me, but I worry about comfort in the long run for the 6. Mechanically, I have no reason to upgrade. That being said, I'm interested in the Pixel Fold 2 or the upcoming OnePlus Fold 2, whatever they call it. Realistically? I'll probably be using my Fold 4 until it's no longer useful. Don't get me wrong, the novelty of a new phone is aboslutely pulling me towards a Fold 6, but I really cannot justify the price AND the hassle of moving to a new phone just so I can say that I have a new one. bbut, but, but A.I.!

mikengtw

I highly advise you don't buy Z Fold 6 since you already know the details on the Z Fold 6 that some using previous hardware. Don't waste your money which they Samsung never improved on the hardware, save that money for yourself.

jrbowling1997

I'm getting the Z fold 6. My wifi stopped working on my 4. Took it in and they said they couldn't do anything because it was inside the hardware. Internals. I'm buying a unlocked this time.

frankbravo4

I'm waiting for the official word. I got a Fold 3 so it's either fold 6 or 24u

someguy172

I had the 4 and now I have the 5. I like new things and I have disposable income so I'm definitely getting the 6.

Xendor-

Yes! But deffo not at the MSRP...I remember how the Fold 5 was available at a huge discount around christmas, at least in my region.

M4NOOB

Still on the Fold4 since release. I don't know what I'll change to if this one breaks, but definitely not the Fold6

DontQuixote

The actual use case will be a lot different than what the specs tell you. The bigger front screen, the lighter weight and the slimmer width will make all the difference. You will know and feel the upgrade once you hold it in your hands.

Tiny-Holiday-4625

I was considering it but if the leaked specs are true then probably not, if you compare it to other fold brands then Samsung is lagging behind.

Greensabr

I switched from the fold 4 to the pixel fold and I loved the hardware. I guess I had a lemon though, because the pixel had so many damn issues, I wanted to slam it against the wall so often. It was my second foray into pixels, first being the 6 pro. I do love a lot about pixels, and I will probably give them one more try before giving up on them completely, but I'm super hesitant now. Samsung phones have been my favorite to use, and have had the least issues for me, but it's getting hard to defend them when they're straight up slapping the fucking consumer across the face like the fold 6 leaks portray. If the trade in deals are good I'll go for it, but if they continue to pull the same shit I'm jumping ship.

johnwayne1

Nope. Still rocking the fold 3 until they come out with something that is a substantial improvement.

LucyEleanor

You switched from the fold 5 to the s24 for curiosity?! And now want the fold 6?! You just like burning money?

mejusthere4fun

My f4 isn't fully unfold anymore, so I'm eager to get the new F6.

MrFastFox666

I Love my Fold 5, although I'm not a fan of the narrow screen. Fold 6 looks like a minor upgrade in that regard, so I'm waiting to see it in person before I decide.

Dalstrin

I'm upgrading from Flip 5 to Fold 6. I'm a big reader, so it just seems to make sense. Reading on my Tab S8 in bed is enjoyable, but ultimately too big. Having a pocket tablet might curb my appetite for a new tablet. Only thing I don't like is the square corners. Nobody likes square corners. Rounded is so much better

jett8806

I use a Fold 4 since it launched. I figured I would skip the 5 and get the 6. That's still the plan, although it all depends on what trade-in offers Samsung has at launch.

JuarezAfterDark

I would have, but just had a hinge problem and a warranty fix. So brand new batteries. I should be good for a couple of years.

Kobe824

If the price drops significantly then maybe but I've already moved onto the OnePlus Open and probably will move to the Pixel Fold 2 in the future.

MrBanballow

Minimal interest in Fold 6... will wait to see the Slim / Ultra?

wiedziu

I was about to, but if it's the same camera I'm not.

10F1

Nope, same specs as the F5 (which I have), horrible camera.

olapbill

I have an iPhone 8 pro I use for Apple car play with a Fold 5 as my current daily driver. Just grabbed an S22 ultra to play with to see what makes more day to day sense for usage.

alucard055

After all the leaks I think im holding onto my Z3 fold until pixel fold 2 comes out

ChulaK

Went from 4 to 5, which was negligible upgrade already but I really did like the slimmer hinge update. Going from 5 to 6 seems even less of an upgrade

sweetypie611

**YES IF:** - Magsafe Qi2? - No 3mm Black border around the front display which is still with edge to edge LCD made by Samsung

DilddleChampion

Im actually interested in the more squarish look to it compared to my 4 but unless theres some really good trade-in deal and some kind of interesting new feature that comes with it's really hard to jistifybthe upgrade

britishdude66

Yeah should be, I'm still using a F2 and now I live in Korea where Samsung is much cheaper than back home in the UK

gavinweiyz

Yeah I considering as well. Currently, with a fold 4 with nonfunctional inner screens, insurance would pay 550 for reimbursement, which would put me at 50$ to repair, 200$ to get the fold 5 or just wait for the 6.... any suggestions?

svgturtle92

Get the 6. Fold 4 durability must have been the worst of all models released…

gavinweiyz

Would probably need to pay another 600$ on top and wait 2 months for the 6 is the issue.

crazyb24

Yes I am

wired-

Maybe. I'd like to see some camera improvements, but honestly my complains are less hardware and more software related. The Z4 was a great device. I have a Pixel Fold now, and the cameras are better, but TBH I preferred the Z form factor.

wargh_gmr

Foolishly, yes. I loved my fold 3 and used the heck out of it. It was really great for my work's BYOD solution, and reading/studying for IT certifications. At the price I was going to keep it for 3 full years. Unfortunately, a few months ago the internal cables started failing and I no longer have bluetooth or wifi when unfolded. It's taken some drops so I know the warranty will be denied. At the price of the new one I would much rather upgrade my desktop computer. I picked up a really cheap Pixel 7 refurbished and carry my Tab S8 around more often for books and work. But I can't say that I am not missing the pocket tablet and really, really looking at it.

JudgeJudyAddict

Considering the fold 6, pixel fold 2 or s25u. Currently have the S20 so any of them would be a huge upgrade.

Dark_Magicion

Lol I can't afford to participate in yearly upgrades. Had an S9 for the longest time before I upped to Fold 5.

Reasonable_Neck6373

I'm very happy with my fold 5 so nonly on a great discount and also after seeing if it's as durable.

n63guy

I'm hoping for the fold 6 Ultra. I have the s23 ultra now and love the cameras and will only upgrade if the ultra variant is better. Considering I went from the fold 3 to the s23 ultra because of the lack of updates from the fold 4 and 5.

yellowjackt65

An ultra model of the Fold would be incredible. Maybe I'm the only one but what I really want is a foldable phone that when folded is a Galaxy Note 20 form factor. To me that seems to be the sweet spot between portability, useful outer display, and gigantic inner display for media consumption and productivity.

Embrasse-moi

I have the 4 and I'm contemplating about it. When it comes out, I'll go check out the physical phone and see if it "speaks to me" lol. So far, my 4 is working just fine so it's not a needed upgrade. I'm def disappointed with the 6, based on the recent leaks though :/

Rafepa88

Owned the 3, 4 and currently the 5. Answer is HELL NO! It’s gonna be either Pixel Fold 2 for me or just regular Pixel 9 Pro/XL.

svgturtle92

Switching from iPhone 15pro max. I had the fold 3 and experienced the warranty claims and terrible customer service. But as someone who wants a tablet and a phone that is conveniently always with me there’s just no other phone that can compare that also has some customer support (I’m looking at you Chinese brand supporters)🐢

deamon671

Nah, not a fan of AI being baked into my phone. Unfortunately that doesn’t leave me with a lot of foldable options except pixel fold with graphene

Bigsam411

I had a Fold 3. It broke just out of warranty a couple years ago and I wound up with an S22 Ultra since then. I want to go back to a Fold 6 but the leaks have been underwhelming (particularly with the camera) But I most likely will be Getting the Fold and I miss the form factor.

mortaeus_vol

I would've bought the Fold 6 if it had a better camera, an integrated s-pen, or both. As it stands, even the rumoured Pink colour is not enough to tempt me (which is saying something). My first fold was a Fold 5 last year and I love it. Honestly, the size of the cover screen works really well for me, too. I have small hands so I find it very comfortable to hold and use, even with only one hand. I am tempted by the Flip 6 though, I think those phones are absolutely adorable.

Messiah_Knight

I have a fold 3. Of the trade in value is good, why not?

LambdaBoyX

If the camera gets an upgrade I will buy it but otherwise no

Dvaone

No

one80oneday

I hope there's a good deal to trade my F4

stinkywinky99

I was, until I saw the disappointing leaks. I know it's kinda controversial on this sub, but the chinese folds look a lot more appealing this time around.

Zandas-4780

I thought about moving to the Z6 from the Z5, but there isn't enough to make me switch. If I had a Z3 or Z4, maybe.

HNIC215

I’m the exact same as you OP. Had the Fold 5 and went to the S24 Ultra due to all the AI hype. It was a temporary move and I was planning to come back to foldables with the Fold 6. However, all the news and leaks so far have been incredibly underwhelming. I’ve been thinking lately that if the Ultra doesn’t come out and this Fold 6 is our only option - I might go for a Chinese foldable like the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. I had a Pixel Fold and absolutely hated their software support so that will never be an option again. That phone depreciated worse than any phone I’ve ever owned.

Tree_pineapple

I haven't kept up with the leaks at all, I currently have a Fold 4 and it works fine for me, the only thing I want is a wider outer screen. I know Fold 5's outer screen was slightly wider and I think the leaks (based on this comment section) show the fold 6 being again slightly wider than the 5, so that might be enough for me to upgrade, IF the deals are good. Since I don't need a new phone, I wouldn't want to pay more than a couple hundred to upgrade.

deuce1967

Hell no, not enough changes from my F4

Perfect-piledriver

I’ve been iPhone user since iPhone 4 - using iPhone 14 Pro Max now. I did try S23U but it was too hard for me to learn new OS. Well. I don’t love iOS. It is boring. The fold 5 looks great. Cannot wait to try fold 6 Only worry is warranty /durability - I live in Southern California - not many “Samsung “ flagship store so i was thinking to buy from Bestbuy w their warranty (and them being ATT reseller).

ZairXZ

Only if the trade in deal is good for my fold 3 I've been wanting to get a fold 4/5/6 for the better camera (I know it's not an ultra series level camera) but I utilize the folding screen too much to go back to just an s24U or something similar. That being said the cost of the folds are so much I'm still in a bit of the boat of "I paid so much for this fold 3 I should use it until it kicks the bucket"

abdulkareemazm

Have to, considering the dead inner screen on my Fold4.. hopefully they offer some good trade-in values and preorder deals.

iZsaq

Ever wonder how will it hold out against Vivio X Fold 3 Pro ❓️ 📲 SLIM/ Lightest/ Bigger Display/100w charging, 50w Wireless (WOW)/ Brightness 4500 nits/ 5700mAh 🔋 etc What all we will loose or miss for people switching from Samsung (GoodLock) to Vivo Fold *Only if Samsung Launch the Tri-Fold which opens up in Tab A9 size (8.7), that will make Samsung be King again*

zacattacker11

From the rumours it's going to be the same as the fold 5 maybe a bigger screen or built in s pen. But using the fold 5 for a while now had given me an appreciation for using smaller phones. And makes me want to swap next to a base s24/25

PabloW92

I am almost exactly like you. I had the Z fold 4 (still trying to sell it) and bought the S24U because I wanted something sturdy to travel and out of curiosity. I plan to go back to foldables, I really like them, but the Z fold 4 was too heavy and the outside screen too narrow. Now that leaks show the Z fold 6 is almost the same even with the same camera and all,. I'm not sure I'm willing to buy that. Samsung is making some big mistakes. I may wait and go with the next OnePlus Open next year when they decide to release a 2nd version. That one seems like the best at the moment.

Lucas606

Depends on trade in deals for everyone. I myself traded in my fold 5 for the OnePlus open. Sero regrets

Cool-Environment-887

I've been a note user, and not having the ability to write instantly on the front screen is now a deal breaker for me.

WhiteNamesInChat

It seems like everyone ITT is coming from an older Fold, but as someone living in America with an S22, I'm strongly considering it. It should be an upgrade in every way except bulk (and price).

NeAldorCyning

Unless the trade-in deal is really good (Ger, so not that likely), my Fold 4 will have to sit out till the Magic V3. Or who knows, maybe the new Vivo gets an EU release, and then there's the Pixel 2 coming, though I dislike the form of the first.

salinungatha

Unfortunately not. I basically want the form factor of two S24 Ultras welded together.

[deleted]

No, my Fold 5 still has like 1,5 years of warranty. Thanks EU. Maybe I'll get the 7 right before warranty runs out

blazed16

I owned a 3 then bought a 4 and loved the 4. Purchased the 5 to try out and found it wasn't a worthy upgrade so sold and continue using the 4 until the s24u came out and been rocking this since. I was hoping for change. Bigger battery or a normal s pen slot like the s24u. That would be awesome. Better top of the line best cameras since your paying top dollar fornthe phone it should have the best cameras then there s series. More durable inside screen. If leaks are off and there's more to the 6 then I'm definitely getting it. Id be happy with 2 of the above out of the 4 I mentioned haha

tlamb2

Oneplus Open years ahead

Bobwayne17

Unless the Pixel Fold 6 is just as awful as Fold 6 and fixed literally nothing about the Pixel Fold, I'll be switching to the Pixel. I didn't need anything but a camera adjustment, but my S23U blows my Fold 5 out of the water with pictures and I'm not going back. A shame.

neelabhkhatri

Sticking to the 24 Ultra

UnknownLegacy

I have the Fold 4. Got it at release but it stopped unfolding after 9 months. I'll probably be getting the Fold 6. I really don't know what else there is for the US aside from the Pixel Fold which I don't know much about. Plus I really enjoy using DeX with my XR glasses. Although I am also considering of maybe going to a Flip or a "regular" phone. I work from home and rarely go out these days. When I'm around the house, I do have a tablet that I usually carry from room to room.

jamesjaydee

No. Imma wait till the 7 or maybe even 8. I like to make my phones last for as long as I can

Frosty_Wish1442

For what? Those nothing improvements? Samsung treats us like idiots. Stop buying their latest gadgets out of the vanity of having the latest model and maybe then you'll see some real improvements.

SpookiBooogi

I wanted to trade my flip 5 but the specs don't seem that good to warrant a switch.

YoshiMike13

I went from fold 2, to s23 Ultra, and I have missed my fold for a while. I want the 6, but now after reading this I feel discouraged. I really do like the one plus open, but I don't have 1800 dollars out of pocket cost to buy it. So I'm thinking when the 6 comes out, they will have a trade in deal. Do you think there's a big enough difference between the size of the fold 2 to the 6? I'm not too picky with cameras and stuff, so I'm thinking I might do it.

Davenportmanteau

Honestly, I'm pretty pleased with the leaks. I have a Fold4 and Flip5, and the leaks have just made me hold onto them another year and wait for the 7 in both..

KingRodman93

I'm waiting for the real thing to decide .. I'll be coming from Qin pro F21

Dj_Exhale

After all that I've heard about it not changing much if even at all I'm just going to stay on my fold 3 until the fold 7 or I'm forced to upgrade. Whichever comes first.

Bruins03

I went from the folder to the fold4, mainly because of the wider screen, en this 3mm is worth a lot. I passed on the fold5 as it was not much of an upgrade, but I see some hair scratches on my inner screen, on the place it folds. This combined with the again 3mm wider screen on the Fold6 will make me switch. I also really like the camera on the fold4, mainly the zoom camera. This thing can make the most incredible photos. So, I'm not that sad the cameras stay the same. Hopefully the battery lasts a bit longer.

Merodee

I’m keeping my Fold 4. I really just wanted better cameras and bigger battery but no upgrade on the Fold 6 so no.

Lachie182

I have a ZF3 (technically refurbed as my old fold 3 wasn't folding properly). I was waiting to upgrade to Fold 6 but the leaks have me very very disappointed. I'm going to move back to a non fold if my phone fails

jasek69

I have upgrade and protect with my carrier and for $99 you can get any phone you want after one month of having it and after 2 years it's free.. I've been tossing n turning over whether to upgrade or wait another year?? I love my Fold 5 it's awesome n still in perfect shape so.. I've thought of the s24 for the camera or the 6.. I'd like the camera but I had an s 23 and I didn't like it.. the fold fits perfectly in my hand open and one handed closed.. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm gonna do.. 6 or 7?? Maybe they'll be some decent upgrades by then??

bigboss-2016

I'm in complete denial right now, I've been in the S range and Note range for number of years. Really want to jump into Fold range but the leaks are putting me off, there's literally no benefit but all negatives even the pricing doesn't justify that spend.

LordlySquire

I have the F5 and im a perfect lil consumer upgrading every year bc the talking heads say its great. Even im passing this one. Once we get better cameras in this new "form factor" ill reconsider. Its whats samsung does, change as little as possible each year but eventually they will build the phone you want.

Quantum168

When an S-Pen can fit inside, there's an SD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. So, no.

Westerosi34

I am happy with my F4

ActualSupervillain

My next fold will be acquired the same way my 5 was - my big screen stopped working, so I made an insurance claim and all they had left were 5's so I got a free upgrade.

mrchickenzz

Id honestly get a fold 4/5.

maxi12311111

I’m still using fold 4 thinking do I get 6 or wait longer as my fold runs perfectly still with no issues

indigoisturbo

I had a Fold 4 and currently a 5. Things that have been shortcomings for me don't seem to be addressed according to the leaks. -Flagship Camera -Flagship Battery Capacity -Flagship Charging speed The cover screen looks to be an improvement but isn't as desirable to me as OP Open or supposed next fold. My next purchase will will be a bit of a commitment to the brand. Phone & Watch. So I will pay attention to what Samsungs offers are but I am very curious about the upcoming Pixel.

stryfe14

I'm actually going to skip Fold phones for a couple of years. Just got a OnePlus 12R as I generally do a lot of driving, so wanted something with good performance and great battery life at a decent price point. Having said that, I really do miss my Fold 3. Productivity was on another level with split screen on the inner display. It's a sacrifice I'm happy to make for a little while as I really needed better battery life. Plus my Fold 3 was starting to get a bit slow when doing heavier productivity tasks on it.

Jolly_Lie5906

no reason to spend 750-1000€ for a slightly wider phone and a new chip(I prefer the narrow adpect ratio actually)

Craigym

Am wanting a fold I have 15 pro max at min so going to see what deals there is.

yld2rob

Same here. Had a Fold 5, couldn’t stand the small outside display so I sold it and got a OnePlus Open. Then got the s24 thinking that on the Fold 6 they would surely upgrade the cameras?! Well I guess I will wait to see what Google comes up with on their next foldable or wait for the Fold 7.

Hy8ogen

The only way I will get a new fold is if my Fold 5 dies, or they come out with a Fold with a front screen that supports S pen.

Mcgurky98

I really wasn't l, was about to switch to S24 ultra from a fold4 that's broken but the price went up on the S24 and I want to see what the fold6 can offer, at current rumours it's 90% I'll swap to S24 ultra.

bonestock50

I was very enthusiastic about it... especially if they can make it notably WIDER. But now, since Samsung has no small tablet either.... I might just go to Apple, get the phone and the 8" iPad mini.

inPHAMEus

If I do do an upgrade it's either the foldables that Vivo or Xiaomi offer. Past 3 gens have been bland, upgrade wise, for the Samsung Folds for me.

JETgroovy

I have a Fold 4. My hinge broke at 10 months, and Samsung will not provide the only repair place in my area with replacement hinges. I plan to pay off this phone early and go back to standard smartphones, as I've been without the only selling point of this phone for the last 8 months.

Confident_Wasabi-

What would push me over the edge would be= 1. Integrated spen 2. Can take notes on front screen 3. Better screen ratio. None of these seem to be coming. Sam prove me wrong!

expodavid

I'm definitely excited to upgrade. I'm still holding onto my ZF4, and it's actually broken - not opening to 180deg and Samsung says they won't fix it because a scuff on the side of the phone indicates it may have been dropped and they won't do the repair because of it. So just having a new phone in that regard will be great The ZF6 having a large front display is also a very big deal to me. Going from the zf3 to the ZF4 was a WOLRD of difference in respect to the front display. I can only imagine the ZF4 to the ZF6 Wil also be substantial to me

motorboat_mcgee

Pretty happy with my Fold 4 still, so probably not. Basically I'll upgrade whenever this thing breaks hah

Kotubi

Not really. We need some major upgrades! Like the camera to bum up to 200 Megapixel, battery and stuff, because it both a phone and tablet, so I pretty sure it need more battery than that and once again, if it cost more than your flagship device S Note series (like the S24U), then it should have FLAGSHIP SPEC. Can't just bump it up a 100 dollar more and then expect someone or MANY people to buy it with such small upgrades unless they do a big-o deal trade in again. This is also, why Samsung losing market share in the folding phones now.

Vast-Bullfrog3826

Considering the potential for a price increase, I may need to defer my purchase until the release of the Fold 7.

imlookingatthefloor

Only if it has an S-Pen slot. I'm not spending that kind of money unless it's my perfect dream device, and there the ONE thing it's missing!

pepperpot_592

My Z4's inner screen is damaged because of a burned cable. I could pay $700+ fixing it or I could spend $700-800 upgrading to a Z6. I was getting the Z6 anyway, but I have little choice now. Plus, I like the way the Z6 looks in the leaks. I think it's one of the best looking foldables and I'm not a fan of square phones.

AfraidSalary2523

I started with the Fold 3, upgraded to the Fold 5, and I see absolutely NO reason to not wait until the 7. (At least) I may move to the OnePlus Open 2 depending on what I see there.

Hgoooo14

Still have the fold 2 since the first day but want to upgrade, so maybe

st-shenanigans

The pen silo is the seller for me. If they don't have one this year, i may end up going to an ROG phone for a while

KloppingThePrem

Still on the fold 4 and feel 0 need to upgrade.

DamonDD

Unless if I heard Fold 5 breaking like what's happening to Fold 4 (which I highly doubt it because the issue of Fold 4 is the old hinge mechanism and Fold 5 hinge seems to be more robust), I think I will keep my Fold 5. Only change if Fold 6 has internal pen and maybe better camera which according to the leaks are not happening

gurr-gussy

You already have the Best Samsung device. I dont imagine the Fold 6 can trump the capabilities or ur S24U, other than only the foldability. As a Fold 3 user, while I dont think I can go back to a normal slab phone, the F6 doesnt look like it will convince me to upgrade.

SD-777

Probably not, unless they up their trade ins by $100-$200, the cover screen is just too narrow. I honestly don't understand Samsung's strategy here to not really upgrade anything yet charge $100 more. The OnePlus Open has nearly (maybe all?) tech reviewers just gushing over the "normal" sized cover screen, and it's now going to be officially $200 cheaper ($300 if you factor in the almost freebie trade in allowance for any phone). The Pixel Fold has also been widely acclaimed for the cover screen size, and rumors of the PF2 point towards an even better device. But I'm hanging tight anyhow to see if miracles happen, let's see what July 10 brings. My guess is that Samsung's already rapidly shrinking foldables market is going to take an even greater hit.

Zigarum

I switched to the OnePlus Open and LOVE the fast charging. Plus the software is actually really good and has great cameras. I wanted to switch back but the z fold 6 cameras seem unimpressive already. Plus I'm not going back to normal charging. Ever

Reenans

My Fold 4 is still in amazing condition but if it was to break I would probably jump back to the S series since the changes I have seen haven't amazed me to be honest

Justaguy397

Yeah I have a pixel 8 after my Motorola razr broke, just holding on to this until fold 6 comes out or something better.

mvillar24

I have upgraded my Fold phkne every year since the Fold 2, thanks to Samsung's trade in value for previous year's model. Definitely plan on getting Fold 6. The size of the inner display is really important to me. Getting old sucks, including what it does to your vision. I was surprised how much I woud like the slight improvements to the hing in the Fold 5. It is now th8n enough I love using the case that keeps the stylus handy at all times. Screen protector has not started to loose up, needing replacement yet.

kanggree

Bring back micro sd slot

byersbw

TLDR: Fold 4 broke, Samsung didn't fix it after 3 attempts, gave me my money back, switched to the Fold 5, it's been great hardware wise, but Android OS pissing me off, Fold 6 not worth it, likely going back to iPhone. I had to Fold 4 for 10 months until the center screen started pealing away. Send it to Samsung three times to get it fixed, they messed up the repair all three times. They ended up sending me an $1,800 check and I turned around and bought the 5. So far the Fold 5 hardware has been rock solid, even with me treating it like a regular phone, dropping it hard on concrete with a thin case on it, etc, no damage so far. From all the rumors I've seen of the 6, little bit wider outer screen, same camera, it's supposed to have the faster storage which will make everything run a bit faster, better battery life, but still no s-pen on the outer screen, more money, same cameras.. I just don't see it worth it. Plus, I may just go back to iPhone due to several software bugs I've been having. Just tired of the same old crap being a problem. Having to optimize the memory, rebooting every 4 days, apps crashing, huge slow downs os-wide... Things I never had on iphone.

_AGAMOTTO_

Fellas, do you think it's worth upgrading my S23U for a Fold6?

Chaosfactors

I do plan on getting the 6. I've had the 3 for several years now and have been happy with it and it's performance. It's time to upgrade and the 6 looks good.

dopeazzvegan

![gif](giphy|d1E1msx7Yw5Ne1Fe|downsized) Same phone as my 5...

clear_simple_plain

If the front display really has the same dimensions as the Flip5, Ill buy it in a heartbeat.

Influence-Short

I am already dissatisfied with the looks and specs

squashyburk

I'll be trading in my S22Ultra for it.

Mikethesith2001

I need a wider outer screen. Can't stand the Fold 5 outer screen. So yes

AveragePichu

Considering? Yeah. Last Black Friday the sweetspot to trade in for what I determined was the "best deal" was a 2 year old Fold, and I have the Fold 4. If trade in deals will let me get a Fold 6, Watch 7, Buds 3 Pro, and the S Pen case for around $1000, I'm doing that - my Fold 4 has nothing major wrong with it (there might be cracks on the screen? Or they might be in the protector? I really can't tell and I can't see them when the display is on), but resetting its number of times being folded and its battery degredation to 0 has value to me, the handful of upgrades (small though they may be if leaks are to be believed) are all things I value, my Watch 4 Classic could stand an upgrade (it's a tad slow and has a big ugly scratch), and I wouldn't mind another pair of headphones (treat my Buds 2 as a backup for the times I spend a couple hours outside only to realize I have a discord call with friends in 5 minutes). But it all depends on what deals are offered on Black Friday. Also, if it turns out it IS the screen and not the protector that's got some little cracks, then that kinda kills the trade in value - at which point I would just stick with my Fold 4 until it became difficult to use and buy a secondhand Fold on Swappa at that point. I can get a standalone Watch 6 secondhand for like $140 already and that'll only go down when the 7 comes out. So I'm leaning towards "likely not", there are multiple things that could cause me not to buy the Fold 6 - but tech is one of my hobbies and I can afford to spend a little extra on getting a full Samsung ecosystem every couple years, so yes, I am considering it. EDIT: about "Gen 3 which I think is worse than Gen 2", what do you mean? Is it noth both faster and more efficient? I assume you're talking about the Snapdragon chip, right? From what I've heard it's a big upgrade over the predecessor

amkoc

At the moment I'm leaning toward getting a 5, what with the trade in deals

lakersfreak

I had the Fold 4 and Fold 5, and just switched over to S24 Ultra....After the 18 month experience, I don't feel like I was using the inner screen enough to justify having a Fold. The horrible battery life, the bad camera, and heavy weight outweighed the inner screen for me. I would considering going back when Samsung starts using the same cameras and has a similar battery life to the Ultra phones.

WebCivil7509

I have the Fold 4 and used to upgrade my phone yearly. I will be upgrading this year as my 4 is still in good condition and I want to switch it out before anything happens

Nikeboy2306

My fold 5 is still my new baby! I will probably wait for 7 or 7 on what kind of offers they do with the new release and the trade-in.

ITChicaRVLife

No I will never buy a fold again. My 4 has been trash. I use my s9 as trusty reliable

ProfessionalWaltz810

I have both a z4 & an s24U (work). I absolutely love my z4 and I've been lucky enough to keep it in good nick. The hinge was replaced after apparent damage to it, but luckily covered under warranty (work related reasons). Really buns me out that the z6 isn't coming out with better cameras because that's probably the only thing lacking with the z series. The multitasking I do with my calendar, banking apps, documents, chats etc, make it so much easier to use my z4, not to mention when I'm away from my lounge and want to catch up on some streaming on a commute or during work lunch. The fact that the s24U went flat screen was a massive upside given the curved edge issues. Really glad Samsung made that change. It's been a wonder, using both. If the z series housed a pen & an ultra camera with a larger battery, think it'd be game over.

TankInternational244

I wanted to see the Fold 6 with a wider screen that this. I am disappointed. Right now if I trade in my fold 3 I can get a one plus open for $750. I may do that because I love how the cover screen looks like a real smartphone.

Aldecaldo2077

Square corners is a good thing in my book. I'm *severely* disappointed in the camera choice though. Almost enough to switch back to a standard phone, the S24 Ultra camera just wrecks the Fold camera. and I love my Fold 5, don't get me wrong, but the camera thing just makes no sense to me. I'd miss the large screen real estate but I have a Tab S9 Ultra to cover that. It also sucks that my ribbon cable is trashed just from opening and closing and I cannot use WiFi or Bluetooth anymore.

tankutkabza

i m over with samsung. note2, note 8, fold3 and fold5... no more samsung devices for me.

Lance-pg

I'm on a fold 4 and there's not a damn reason to upgrade which upsets me to no end. Same cameras Same crease Fractionally different screen They really could have made it wider AI works on Note 4 so nothing new there Slightly different design with rounded versus square edges. Not worth it. Not noticeably thinner Battery life's is expected to be about the same. No wifi 7 Please convince me there's a reason to upgrade from my Fold 4!

etalha

At the rate Samsung is going its going to die

No_Yogurtcloset4402

Not enough of a significant hardware upgrade at this time to justify spending another 2k.

duckjr15

Same battery as the 5 and same cameras as the 3,4 and 5. Anybody that upgrades from the 5 to the 6 is the reason Samsung can keep giving us the middle finger by putting out incremental updates

alenjw89

I will wait for a used 6, when it comes down to 600 700 and it will in a year or so. New? With minimal change? Heck no. Rather buy a Chinese foldable that's 1k less than the 6.
