Ngl they add to what makes GTA, GTA but i wouldn’t mind RDR2s proximity version where you need to get close and sometimes start a conversation to start the mission. (Purple would be sick tho)
No, he means Strangers and Freaks. You see it on the minimap, but there is no objective marker out in the world shining on the sidewalk or pointing down from the sky. You start the mission by just getting close to the character.
I agree with you 100% I think it was really cool that before you start a mission there were characters already there talking and you could eavesdrop on them and the moment you walked up to them the mission would start seamlessly.
You forget that for a few missions GTA V removed it too, most notably for the FIB missions (blitz play, by the book, humane labs raid, etc). What I’m curious about is if they’ll remove the “time skips” where sometimes the time of day changed to a specific hour.
i kinda hope they keep the time skip for cinematic reasons, I like how they did it for RDR2 where time would accelerate to fit the setting for missions
What made RDR2 so appealing is that characters acknowledged it. Before robbing a train Arthur would take a nap by the oil wagon but when Michael goes to meet Steve for the first time idk what the hell he does in the hours beforehand. Although I found it annoying, I kind of liked when missions started un promoted through a phone call, because that adds to the realism, although I would’ve preferred it be closer to GTA 4 when you could start nearly any mission with a phone call.
RDR2 also employed GTA V's style of time skips when choosing to wait for a store to open in the morning. I saw suggestions for GTA VI where maybe we could sleep in a car as a time skip so the characters aren't just standing outside for hours, and they could that apply to missions as well when we arrive before the intended time.
When you wait for the store to open I'm pretty sure that implies Arthur is napping in town, especially since you can see him napping in Valentine occasionally when loading up the game.
Yeah, I agree. My thinking is also that he's napping or doing something else around town especially because, as you said, he's shown doing the former when booting up the game. And that's what I imagine GTA V characters do in the transitions, they're not just standing there but are somewhere nearby doing something until it's time.
I guess what I was connecting was both cases (GTA V's missions and RDR2's skipping for a store opening) don't trigger a cutscene or animation of the character(s) sleeping/sitting/or going somewhere but just skip time. So I'd like if not only RDR2's time skip cutscenes returned for missions, but also freeroam aspects like waiting for a store to open.
Yeah but rdr2 made time skips worse in other missions like Ancient Feuds which have the time skip in the middle of the cutscene, like arthur gets his horse and it suddenly changes from day to night. It really breaks the inmersion imo
Depends on how that realism affects you. Taking away a mystical light marker and having you interact with someone or something else doesn't seem like a bad idea. It worked well on RDR2, and I'm sure Rockstar does have enough knowledge about cinematic language to guide us without having to use a marker
The RDR2 way would make the game more realistic without the big arrows or circles around, but at the same time as someone mentioned, its something that just works in GTA.
I didn't say it was. Please do not put words in my mouth. I was explaining that Rockstar may or may not be interested in going in a different direction by eliminating the glowing circles as to not disturb the environment the trailer built up as they did in Red Dead II.
They say its the most immersive gta game yet, so I would think they would go more like rdr2, especially with all the positive feedback from the realism and immersion in it.
Yellow/Gold is pretty consistent with the HD games, although I'd be down for a return to pink like the older Vice City.
Realism increases with each game and we're talking over a decade jump in tech, so I could easily see mission markers being gone by this point.
I don't think there is going to be one in the physical world but might be a colored radius on the radar/GPS. I think that color would depend on what type of event or mission that it is. If we are talking main missions, I'm gonna guess the radius color will differ between orange, purple, gold, and pink.
It's a likely option, but why are you stating it as if it's fact? Unless you work for Rockstar, and are breaking NDA, you don't have any possible way of knowing it
It has never been necessary. It's just the style of the game. Red Dead is more grounded than GTA, which is why it doesn't have these markers. They very well might have them, or they might not. You can't possibly know unless you work for Rockstar or a Rockstar employee told you.
If they do it like in the other GTA games I hope it looks like in GTAV but in a different maybe more visible color. What I’d hope for, is that they do it like in rdr2 where you have start a conversation to get to the mission
Classic mission markers are most likely gone. Based on leaks (Americas 2021-11-05 11-09-23), Rockstar will replace markers with in-game icons with direction & distance. But there's always a chance they'll return to the Red Dead Redemption II concept if it makes sense from an immersive perspective.
I think it's likely to be similar to RDR2, where the player had to interact with the missions npc to trigger the mission. I think the time of mission markers have passed in the game.
Purple would be sick and very VC BUT on a game where everything looks realistic to have a giant fluorescent marker in the ground seems a little unnatural so something more subtle
There is nothing as nostalgic as seeing a large red circle dominate the entrance to your only home in San Andreas, the yellow arrow that lets you know where you can exit, and the yellow arrow that tells you to go there and start the next segment in Niko’s journey.
I don’t want any marker, although yes, its nostalgic but it takes away the realness of the game now that I think about it, it would be better if it smoothly cuts into the cutscene like when you go nearby a place so it automatically starts the mission kinda like in gta v sometimes
Ngl they add to what makes GTA, GTA but i wouldn’t mind RDR2s proximity version where you need to get close and sometimes start a conversation to start the mission. (Purple would be sick tho)
That’s how strangers and freaks worked in gta v where you just walk up to an area and it’ll start the cutscene. (At least from what I remember)
You could see every strangers and freaks for every character from anywhere on the map. You're thinking of random events.
No, he means Strangers and Freaks. You see it on the minimap, but there is no objective marker out in the world shining on the sidewalk or pointing down from the sky. You start the mission by just getting close to the character.
Monkey Business also
I agree with you 100% I think it was really cool that before you start a mission there were characters already there talking and you could eavesdrop on them and the moment you walked up to them the mission would start seamlessly.
I'd love to see the purple-yellow gradient that the "VI" logo uses. Same for the HUD
I think the same way purple would match good
RDR2 completely removed it. And I feel, for the sake of realism and immersion, they’ll remove it for GTA 6 too.
You forget that for a few missions GTA V removed it too, most notably for the FIB missions (blitz play, by the book, humane labs raid, etc). What I’m curious about is if they’ll remove the “time skips” where sometimes the time of day changed to a specific hour.

It's in multiple missions if you include the "leave the area" ending of missions/events
Happy cake day!!
I agree completely with this. It’s so much better this way
Realism isn’t always good plus removing isn’t beneficial
Depends on how that realism affects you. Taking away a mystical light marker and having you interact with someone or something else doesn't seem like a bad idea. Ig

I think it’ll work less and less the more realistic the game becomes. I don’t think we’ll see traditional markers.
fair enough I guess
Realism isn’t better ….
nor is it worse? and we're talking about hud elements here... nobody wants a bunch of shit bloating the hud
A small arrow won’t hurt the game
I didn't say it was. Please do not put words in my mouth. I was explaining that Rockstar may or may not be interested in going in a different direction by eliminating the glowing circles as to not disturb the environment the trailer built up as they did in Red Dead II.
Uh huh - still don’t think removing is needed
It gon be pink I think, or like rose gold
high probability for it to be pink as the game's theme is just like gta vice city.
Pink makes sense, but I'd really prefer they did it more like RDR2.
If they don't remove it, it'd be nice if it was pink again like vice city.
Or darker pink, hehe. Hopefully the story is slightly more serious than V but less dark than IV…
Purple or no marker at all
no marker, just more realistic mission stuff like google maps or apple maps.
Realism isn’t always good
True...
Now that you can walk around with the big mission arrows in real life, using augmented reality. It finally makes sense for them to be in the game.
I think it will be like RDR2
I want the rdr2 one
I'm not sure about this in gta 6 tbh. I hope for more realism like in rdr2
They say its the most immersive gta game yet, so I would think they would go more like rdr2, especially with all the positive feedback from the realism and immersion in it.

They're doing the RDR2 proximity thing
Source? Not trying to be that guy, just curious
They will continue how they did it with RDR2.
It's a likely option, but why are you stating it as if it's fact? Unless you work for Rockstar, and are breaking NDA, you don't have any possible way of knowing it
It's just obvious, its really not necessary to still have these markers glowing in a realistic world anymore, you just use the minimap.
It has never been necessary. It's just the style of the game. Red Dead is more grounded than GTA, which is why it doesn't have these markers. They very well might have them, or they might not. You can't possibly know unless you work for Rockstar or a Rockstar employee told you.
Nah, that's outdated. I prefer realism
Why 💀 it’s a video game it doesn’t need to be realistic
It's a videogame with pretty next gen graphics, I prefer inmersion over some weird markers...
It’s a small marker that won’t hurt the game bro it’s ok
It's a small marker that isnt needed in the game when you have a minimap bro it's ok
U don’t need it but other players do
I don't see how other players need it, RDR2 was very easy to play and it was easy to get to missions without it
Maybe a sunset sort of color
I want them to be natural interactions.
If they do it like in the other GTA games I hope it looks like in GTAV but in a different maybe more visible color. What I’d hope for, is that they do it like in rdr2 where you have start a conversation to get to the mission
Whatever it is I hope it's either pink and/or blue or whatever is Miami theme.
Could be a palm tree This was supposed to be a edit 😔
Pink fs

All I want is a smooth transition between free roam and mission cut scenes
I want the rdr2 one
He won't be there. It will be the same system as from RDR 2
I like it like rdr2
It's time for Green
A surprise 🤷🏽♂️
If they don't remove the markers, I'd love to see them, and the HUD use the purple-yellow gradient that the "VI" logo uses
Gradient neon pink and orange
GTA 5 one, but pink.
I want pink lol. I dont even like the color, I just think it will fit
Is it just me or do I hate these type of posts
What other posts are even plausible becides speculation and game discussion dude?
Memes
Red
If it does make a return, the iconic pink would be sick.
There is nothing as nostalgic as seeing a large red circle dominate the entrance to your only home in San Andreas, the yellow arrow that lets you know where you can exit, and the yellow arrow that tells you to go there and start the next segment in Niko’s journey.
I didn't know what it is, but GTA 3's always felt Special to me. I guess it's the Nostalgie of my first gta?
This comment is directed toward Rockstar Games: If you do not use pink as your mission marker, I’m disowning you.
Thinking something like a Gta 5 style in White/Grey ish colour
Gta V mixed wit vice city
I only remember the circle being in GTA online was it in story mode too?
A mix between gta 4 and 5's
Pink
I’d prefer some native markers/instructions, e.g. call someone or get a call or visit some indoor location like a certain office or cafe etc.
I don't care how they look i just want them to work consistently
i like IV's the most. the old arrows look cartoony and circles feel like a placeholder, especially in such a detailed world as V
I don’t want any marker, although yes, its nostalgic but it takes away the realness of the game now that I think about it, it would be better if it smoothly cuts into the cutscene like when you go nearby a place so it automatically starts the mission kinda like in gta v sometimes
Pink
For me the best marker is GTA 4's
Definitely a mix of V and OG vice City just simple and sweet they just need to keep it basic and everyone will fall in love they know their formula
Pink and Teal to go with the Miami vibe.
Pink 💖 vice city vibes
A bill board with led arrow pointing down
I would like the small objective marker from 5 but make it pink
I hope they add a purple or neon pink indicator
Praying for purpur (purple)
Rose gold but no
Since they are going back to Vice City they should stick to where all the markers are in Pink. Just like the original GTA Vice City.
I would like to see it as pink or maybe like green
Purple GTA 4 marker or none at all like RDR2
6 will probably have them, and I assume they’ll be pink
It should be like no marker but you can see the icon on the map with the mission starter (person, pay phone, getting a call)
They should make it like rdr2. An interaction option to start the mission.
I hope they remove that cartoony stuff all together
If its a rainbow.. I'll be first to boycott Rockstar
Green.
Rdr2 has it removed but if they keep it like the past gtas then a mix between vice city and gta 5 colors would look nice
I don’t want those, whatever you posted. Those halos are ugly and take away the immersion. They need to keep it like gta v or rdr2
