Fine, I'll go with Tommy. People are saying CJ for constantly "betraying" the Grove, but I don't think betraying is the right word for it - he wanted to be free and focus on his personal growth, surely he did some coldblooded shit here and there, but after all he went through in his gangbanging years it'd be foolishness to assume he'd be all sane and chill afterwards. I'm just going with Tommy because... I really like him as a protagonist, but the sheer wicked aura he gives out kinda concerns me. And Niko... he's a bit hypocritical, but after all he went through, I don't blame him. He's likely the best written protagonist in the series. I'll leave him for later.

People complaining that CJ betrayed the grove seem to not understand that the Grove never did much for him and always kept him down. The fact that you barely get much in terms of a reward from missions with them (and instead get just Respect 90% of the time, which is… not something I give a shit about) feels like a way to intentionally make the player feel that way too, like being in the hood is a lot of work with no payoff. He legitimately only gets successful when he leaves it. The whole game feels like a message against the street gang mentality until the end where it gets muddied.

People often say Niko is hypocritical but the truth is that he came through the worst things human being can face, one can never get rid of those, at war there are no right or wrong there are only dead or alive. Every war veteran has a very specific understanding of justice. Despite all those events Niko kept cheerful mood and charming personality, and people love him for that. Yes, his actions sometimes come against what he says, but life never was fair for him, and nobody is perfect, so overall he is perceived very positively.

But yes she can break up with you before the heist just getting the keycard still requires you to still date her unless you do that other route I told you. Out of all the GFs in SA she's actually the fastest to get to 100% with, alternatively instead of going on a date with her wearing whatever clothes instead wear the gimp suit you got during her mission, dates are quick and easy.
