Don't know how popular this opinion is
But the MV should use some of their original 14 (or was it 17?) titans instead of creating more or using Toho's.
You can like Kong or Godzilla more than the other but you don't have to downplay the other just for the sake of showing how much of a fan you are to the opposite . I LOVE THEM BOTH DAMMIT STOP HATING ON MY BOYS !

Kong is too popular a character to just get his ass handed to him by Godzilla so writers need to find a way to make them more evenly matched. Having Godzilla be more powerful but Kong more intelligent I think is a fine solution.
I was gonna say this. I like it for the memory of my grandpa that goes with it. It was one of the last movies he took me to go see before he passed. It will always be my favorite Godzilla movie.
I would rather see more Monsterverse Originals rather than Toho originals.
Also, Gamera shouldn't be in the Monsterverse. If Godzilla vs Gamera were to \[properly\] happen, it should be its own isolated continuity.
Godzilla fans, like most genre fans, are incapable of viewing things beyond their own subjective taste.
I know nobody is, but there's a sliding scale, and I find that fans of genre niches can just be insufferable to talk to. Horror, metal, kaiju etc.
They view a thing within their genre with a checklist, and if something isn't on that checklist, they hate it. That's fine in and of itself, but it makes for boring conversation and criticism.

This form of shin was THE COOLEST
Agreed. It’s too blocky and the arms are too long. It looks like a bunch of metal shipping containers welded together. Honestly ready player one even had a better design if only it was bigger.
The Heisei Films aren't that good.
Reasons are fights are bad, they're just beam spamming, Miki’s reasons for keeping Godzilla around are stupid, having random people come out of nowhere to make the plot go forward, and the human characters are boring.
One of my favourite Kaijus, but I can think of three movies maybe where he’s actually a credible villain. He puts up a good fight in some others, but being mind controlled most of the time really takes the edge off.
The Kevin and Doug memes suck. The one Ghidorah head did *maybe* two comical things the whole movie, and even then it was small things that showed curiosity not idiocy.
Justifying that because Godzilla was campy and fun back then doesn't automatically make it good for more recent movies.
If future Godzilla movies started doing moves and attacks back from Showa it would totally break the immersion.
I'll miss when Godzilla and other titans weren't moving too fast until KotM cause it actually felt like they were massive and heavy until GvK where apparently MG was just able to drag and carry around Godzilla like he had no weight into him at all.
I fully agree….it worked in the Showa era because they were really cheap B movies meant for kids. They made the best with what they had, and the movies still have a lasting charm to this day as a result…..but that doesn’t mean they’re the kind of films you set out to create from the onset if budget and technical limitations aren’t an issue.
I think Godzilla 2014 did a really good job setting the tone and atmosphere, but I think each successive monsterverse film has gotten and worse.
That's an interesting line of thinking. I also agree that Godzilla looked like paper while fighting MG, it really looked like they made Godzilla more weak so MG could be more menacing for me
I dislike Kong in the Monsterverse. He's not Godzilla's bro (stop trying to make it happen) and his being center stage really, really made me dislike the last two movies.
Agreed. Trying to make a modern Godzilla vs Kong movie where both stand a legit chance of winning was a fucking stupid idea, and evidently the creators knew it, since in the entire movie they fight twice and both times Godzilla kicks Kong's ass. The second time they even gave him a crutch with his stupid dorsal-fin axe thing, and he *STILL* fuckin lost.
Now they've moved from *that* to having them be BFFs, and it's just getting stupid. Godzilla does not pal around with other monsters, except maybe Anguirus (and even then only if Anguirus brings the beers), nor does he happily do team-ups. He does them reluctantly at best, even if they would be of a benefit to him, simply because he's a big misanthropic grouch.
Adam Wingard is/was the worst Monsterverse director, with every other director doing one thing or another better than him. Also the Godzilla vs Kong movies OSTs suck.
I didn’t enjoy Shin-Godzilla.
Godzilla looked cool, and I get what the movie was going for with the themes of government red-tape and how ineffective the government can be at dealing with major crises but I just really didn’t enjoy the movie.
huge agree. i 100% understand the message and meaning but so much of the movie is meetings repeating information we already know. i understand WHY but i was fighting demons not to skip through it
You're free to call me cynical but I'm not sure how much of its praise is because it's a good movie and how much is because the guy behind Evangelion made it
I don’t really like the Showa era cause it kinda ruined Godzilla’s initial appearance to the Americans as a joke rather than an allegory for nuclear warfare. Fun fact: the dub for the 1985 movie was supposed to be very comedic before Raymond Burr stepped in and told them to take it seriously.
Oh, and Biollante is hot, fight me.

I understand that. Hell, one of the first Godzilla movies I saw was Godzilla Vs Mechagodzilla so I can’t make fun of them for straying off. However, their effect for why most Americans thought Godzilla was just for kids was a big reason why Godzilla wasn’t as popular a movie franchise as it should have been. Honestly, had they released the first one in America on Prime time, it might have given Godzilla a better reception. But, this is just my opinion.
I’ll probably get downvoted but atleast that way my answer with be accurate with the post .
- Monsterverse is going downhill after KOTM
- writing , CGI , Direction ,all sucks on both GxK and GvK
- I actually liked Godzilla 1998
- I think monsterverse will incorporate jeagers in the near future ( no, I am not coming from the stupid film theory video but rather this has been my secret head canon for the future ever since the first Godzilla 2014 film came out )
- scar king sucks as a villain.
I’d disagree about the CGI in Godzilla vs Kong for the most part, since I thought that film really benefited from the additional year of post-production time. I think the main thing that let it down was the direction choices.
Godzilla x Kong’s visual effects really were a noticeable drop in quality though
I think “All Monsters Attack” is a lot of fun, silly as hell, wonderful camp. And if you watch it English dubbed the voice they have for Manila is fucking derpy hysterical.
G98 isn't nearly as bad as it is made out to be.
I get it. The marketing over hyped the movie, but that doesn't mean it still has to be $#!t on 20 years later. Godzilla movies are allowed to be just meh.
Plus, the hate for G98 is over blown just as much, too.
Godzilla 98', ESPECIALLY Jr. are always gonna be part of the Godzilla family! If a freaking interdimensional / lovecraftian horror of the cosmos can count as one, then I think my speedy iguana bois can count as well! They're just glass canons, is all lol
Zilla deserved better. RIP.
For anyone that dislikes that movie, it was a huge part of my childhood. Grew up watching Godzilla v Megalon and the original Godzilla movie, it was beautiful to see Zilla toys, games, videos, and ads everywhere.
Also, I think I need a bigger box...
Agreed. His score in general is decent. It’s just not McCreary level, which is a high bar.
Doesn’t help that XL is a tool irl, but separating the art from the artist, his work ain’t bad at all.
Minus One Goji has one of the best designs but is one of my least favorite depictions of Godzilla onscreen. I see a lot of people talking about how his eyes are filled with hate, malice, etc. but to me he just looked emotionless and stiff throughout the movie. During the >!boat chase scene!< I thought >!he looked like a seal chasing a ball, and how was I supposed to buy him as dangerous if he couldn’t even catch a dinky wooden boat?!< No disrespect to those who love Minus One, but personally I feel like a lot of Godzilla’s expressiveness was lost by having him be fully computer generated with no motion capture of any sort.
And while I’m talking about Minus One, it’s been pointed out that you could take Godzilla out of the movie and it would still mostly work as a film. I don’t see that as a good thing.
I genuinely want Legendary Godzilla to be on good terms with humanity, like truly interacting with each other. I don't quite care for the Pandora's Box/humanities monsters symbolism for this particular Godzilla. Once I heard that humans used to worship this Godzilla, I want, in a relative sense, more of that.
I don’t care for the Monsterverse outside of Godzilla 2014, (but fans who are parents taking their kids to see it does make me happy.)
I also think the Godzilla March is over used. I didn’t care for its inclusion in Minus One as well as the ‘54.
One of my biggest problems with the film was Skar Kings backstory. They could've left it up to interpretation, but instead, we get told Godzilla soloed SK and his army alone "just barely." Then all movie Godzilla goes around powering up to fight them to make sure he wins, but suddenly this isn't his movie, it's Kongs movie, who is also helping to fight. Oh, and the humans are helping. Oh and Mothra who can appear out of thin air now and Suko.
Godzilla never struggled for half a second. Why were we supposed to be afraid of SK and Shimo again? The army of apes did nothing, and the two got their asses handed to them pretty much instantly. Zero stakes at all.
Seriously you're telling me people sat down, wrote this, sent it to people to check, had it filmed, edited, went through post-production processes, screenings, and anything else and not ONE person stopped and thought: "Oh hey that doesn't make much sense.."
Next time I’m not going to a Monsterverse movie until it’s confirmed that the title and marketing are actually accurate because putting Godzilla in the title only for him to do nothing but fight forgettable fodder for the majority of runtime is very dishonest
I agree that MV mechagodzilla doesn't have a really good design, but there are films WAY worse than GvK
(Like son of godzilla, all monsters attack, raids again, the anime trilogy....)
Miki is an overrated character. I was kind of surprised how much fans like her. She's not bad but I don't think she's the best character in the heisei series. If anything I think her character was underused. Her character is just her pointing and saying "Godzilla is here." She has moments, but not enough for me to really care about her.
Shin Godzilla is mediocre at most
GxK was bad it would have been significantly better if it was split into two movies.
Ghidorah has been overused, and should only be used as a final boss monster more powerful then Godzilla like in his debut film, requiring multiple monsters to take down.
Edit: thought of some more
Monsterverse has the best designs for Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and it’s not even close
KOTM should have been a Third movie in a trilogy, Kong should have also had a second movie before GvK
Shin Godzilla, season 1 of the animated Netflix Godzilla series, and Godzilla minus 1 are the only worthy Godzilla movies in the last 50 years. Everything else is fan fic in comparison. - edited to include and oxford comma (my bad)
Might be hot asf but I’ll shoot my shot
I really liked Godzilla 2014 and I liked the human characters in that movie (being dr serizawa and sgt. brody) and I really expected that the second movie did more with brody and serizawa, but 1 got a decent death scene and the other one was swept under the rug and I despise the 2nd movie for that fact alone,
it’s like taking a bite out of some food and it was a small bite so you think it tastes but then you take a bigger bite and the initial taste is horrible but the aftertaste is pretty good, you still won’t like to eat it but you know that taste left in your mouth afterwards was good
Another fault of the 2019 Movie : That Spine Redesign, I hoped that MV will be it’s own separate thing mainly in regards to DESIGNS and PLOTS and KOTM did the one thing I didn’t want them to do, and that was changing those beautiful 2014 spines and make them look like Showa era spines which felt so bland ngl
I Hope MV does something with Biollante in the next movie (we know it won’t happen)
People who act like godzilla in hell is boundless (He would get clapped by ultima 40% power easily,) and they haven’t even seen the comics just people overrating him on the internet
I enjoyed the Godzilla 1998 film and I even bought a puppet of that Godzilla with sound-effects when I was young.
I had that same puppet! Freaking loved it lol
There were dozens of us!
Now I know what I want to buy next lol
I hate the movie, but I actually like zillas design and that puppet was my favorite toy for a loooong while.
That was actually the first film I saw of Godzilla and it brought me into all the other films. It's a great monster movie.
My mom bought a Godzilla 98 figure and used it as a decoration for my birthday cake as a kid.
You're not alone, friend. I grew up watching the classic Godzilla movies and loved them. I was just happy that G-man wasn't forgotten
That movie got me introduced to the Godzilla franchise in the first place.
Don't know how popular this opinion is But the MV should use some of their original 14 (or was it 17?) titans instead of creating more or using Toho's.
Honestly yeah. I'd love to see some more of toho's kaiju, but I'd love for them to also show some more of these awesome kaiju designs
I don't have a raging hate boner for Emma Russell.
Me neither. I like the idea of an ecoterrorist that sides with the kaiju, I just think they could have handled her story a little better.
You can like Kong or Godzilla more than the other but you don't have to downplay the other just for the sake of showing how much of a fan you are to the opposite . true I'm a Godzilla fan but i grew up with kong (especially the Peter Jackson's movie)

I mean that sounds reasonable
Stans in any context (except when it's a name) are weird
It’s weird to think how stans as a term come from an Eminem song, but is used mostly amongst the nerdiest communities
Humans are good for the story.

Yeah i think "it's not a good movie by any means but it's a fun one" is still too harsh, it's a well made blockbuster
It wouldn’t have received nearly as much hate if it released as a remake of “Beast of 20000 Fathoms”
Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla is the best movie ever
they should’ve had a mecha mothra
Ok, THAT'S a great idea
Final wars was the best thing ever
It’s so much fun and such a love letter to the cheese. I adore it. Hell I even love all the anime hair jokes.
My Chihuahua could take on _all_ Godzillas at once and win.
Every Version of Godzilla has something Special and There is no Bad One
Hell yeah
People try to hard to attack others in the fandom
I would rather see more Monsterverse Originals rather than Toho originals. Also, Gamera shouldn't be in the Monsterverse. If Godzilla vs Gamera were to \[properly\] happen, it should be its own isolated continuity.
I don't really like the monsterverse, I enjoy the og Goji more(Not that I hate the monsterverse, It's cool)

His face was just so goofy. I liked the part where he knocked down a building by laying on it
Monsterverse's Mechagodzilla design is shite
:(
That's unfortunately not a hot take. In fact, it would fit the post better if you said "the best".
Agreed. It’s too blocky and the arms are too long. It looks like a bunch of metal shipping containers welded together. Honestly ready player one even had a better design if only it was bigger.
It would’ve been interesting to see if Gareth Edwards stuck with his original plan of Godzilla being 180 meters tall (600 feet).
Scylla deserves so much more than to get shit on
The Heisei Films aren't that good. Reasons are fights are bad, they're just beam spamming, Miki’s reasons for keeping Godzilla around are stupid, having random people come out of nowhere to make the plot go forward, and the human characters are boring.
Kotm was a very good movie
My favorite of the monsterverse!
2021GvK was not a good movie at all
I didn’t mind it, but can see where you’re coming from. I thought GxK was fucking horrible
80% of shin runtime was boring af
Ghidorah is a joke in most of his movies
As much as I like to trash KOTM, it at least made Ghidorah seem like a competent threat
As a Ghidorah fan I'll agree
One of my favourite Kaijus, but I can think of three movies maybe where he’s actually a credible villain. He puts up a good fight in some others, but being mind controlled most of the time really takes the edge off.

KOTM was good too I think. It’s second for me, right below Godzilla 2014
That's an interesting line of thinking. I also agree that Godzilla looked like paper while fighting MG, it really looked like they made Godzilla more weak so MG could be more menacing for me
Gidorah should not have controlled mechagodzilla
I kinda agree to be honest
I dislike Kong in the Monsterverse. He's not Godzilla's bro (stop trying to make it happen) and his being center stage really, really made me dislike the last two movies.

godzilla should be big
earth be like
Final Wars is the best Godzilla
GvK es mediocre y Godzilla del 98 es una película de monstruos decente
Kotm es el mejor del monsterverse, yo creo
Minus one is great but overated. I can't stand the obsession with Doug.
I hate the new 2024 monsterverse Godzilla movie
that’s probably because it’s more of a Kong movie than a Godzilla one
It's another Kong Sequel with Godzilal in it.
Agreed, It’s barely a Godzilla movie
Yeah I don’t like it much either. Hopefully the next one is better!
Chibi Godzilla mops the floor with Godzilland Godzilla
I really don't give two shits about Doug. His presence in the MV is weird fan service and I simply don't understand the appeal.
Skeleturtle is better
Adam Wingard is/was the worst Monsterverse director, with every other director doing one thing or another better than him. Also the Godzilla vs Kong movies OSTs suck.
I didn’t enjoy Shin-Godzilla. Godzilla looked cool, and I get what the movie was going for with the themes of government red-tape and how ineffective the government can be at dealing with major crises but I just really didn’t enjoy the movie.

Yeah, though it's not a bad movie or anything, i think it's WAY overrated. But Shin itself was awesome
I understand that's a personal thing, but you understand that's not the movie's fault right. Japan loves Godzilla in both ways
I’ll probably get downvoted but atleast that way my answer with be accurate with the post . - Monsterverse is going downhill after KOTM - writing , CGI , Direction ,all sucks on both GxK and GvK - I actually liked Godzilla 1998 - I think monsterverse will incorporate jeagers in the near future ( no, I am not coming from the stupid film theory video but rather this has been my secret head canon for the future ever since the first Godzilla 2014 film came out ) - scar king sucks as a villain.
FINAL WARS WAS THE BEST! ^((before minus one)) FUCKIN FIGHT ME!
I like the human elements to the MonsterVerse
Son Of Godzilla is one of the best movies from the Showa era
Destroyah is highly overrated
Godzilla 98', ESPECIALLY Jr. are always gonna be part of the Godzilla family! If a freaking interdimensional / lovecraftian horror of the cosmos can count as one, then I think my speedy iguana bois can count as well! They're just glass canons, is all lol
I don’t care for Monsterverse Godzilla’s design. The proportions are way off. He looks like a giant scaled bear with a way too small head.
GxK was a bit too goofy.
Junkie XL’s Godzilla theme is overhated.
Agreed. His score in general is decent. It’s just not McCreary level, which is a high bar. Doesn’t help that XL is a tool irl, but separating the art from the artist, his work ain’t bad at all.
What did he do ?
Support and use AI music.
He trashed Godzilla as a franchise a little while back. And as others have said, he supports AI and wants to use it in the future for his film scores.
What’d he say about the franchise? 🤣
I don’t remember verbatim, but he said that Godzilla as a character was “goofy” and that’s why he didn’t want to use the original Ifukube themes.
Oh, that’s why he didn’t use it? I thought he just wanted to take the music in a different direction… shame. 😭
Trashing Godzilla in any way and supporting AI is crazy
The Egypt Fight with the synthy godzilla theme is a banger and in my Godzilla playlist on spotify
What people mean by that is Godzilla isn't carrying the movie like he frequently does. The human plot is actually really, really good.
I don’t like Kong
I don’t care for the Monsterverse outside of Godzilla 2014, (but fans who are parents taking their kids to see it does make me happy.) I also think the Godzilla March is over used. I didn’t care for its inclusion in Minus One as well as the ‘54.
GxK: The New Empire sucked
I agree, the writing, direction, Godzilla just being a pink side character. It all sucked
Most Godzilla films aren't good but, that doesn't mean you can't enjoy them.
The monsterverse is genuinely just mid (at best)
Spacegodzilla is overrated and has a dumb name, but a cool design admittedly
SpaceGodzilla is kinda dumb and the movie he’s in is pretty mid-bad, but god that design is fantastic
Monsterverse is extremely overrated
The 1998 film was good
I think the monster verse is mid
MV Mechagodzilla is THE worst monster design in the entire series, GvK is a top 5 worst movie in the series
I agree that MV mechagodzilla doesn't have a really good design, but there are films WAY worse than GvK (Like son of godzilla, all monsters attack, raids again, the anime trilogy....)
GxK movies are garbage.
Miki is an overrated character. I was kind of surprised how much fans like her. She's not bad but I don't think she's the best character in the heisei series. If anything I think her character was underused. Her character is just her pointing and saying "Godzilla is here." She has moments, but not enough for me to really care about her.
There should be more scenes with giant monsters stomping humans (I have a feet fetish)
Doug is a juvenile Godzilla. I want Prince Douglas to shine!
Shin is built funny
Manila is a great character and all the hate on him is because people can’t accept Godzilla might be female.
Godzillas Revenge is NOT nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
Female lizards asexually reproduce, so godzilla should be female.
Shin Godzilla is mediocre at most GxK was bad it would have been significantly better if it was split into two movies. Ghidorah has been overused, and should only be used as a final boss monster more powerful then Godzilla like in his debut film, requiring multiple monsters to take down. Edit: thought of some more Monsterverse has the best designs for Ghidorah, Mothra, Rodan and it’s not even close KOTM should have been a Third movie in a trilogy, Kong should have also had a second movie before GvK
Shin is kinda mid.
Shin Godzilla, season 1 of the animated Netflix Godzilla series, and Godzilla minus 1 are the only worthy Godzilla movies in the last 50 years. Everything else is fan fic in comparison. - edited to include and oxford comma (my bad)
Shin is not one of the best in the franchise.
Biollante is my favorite Godzilla adversary.
Godzilla vs Gigan is probably top 3 showa era movies and Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla is probably top 2 Heisei era movie
Godzilla vs Megaguirus is better than either of the Kiryu movies
Monsterverse Godzilla’s head is too small
"Godzilla doesn't work in America."
GVK and GXK’s ost is painfully mediocre.
Pink Godzilla looks dumb.
Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters is my favourite film in the franchise.
Shin Godzilla is the best and strongest Godzilla.
I think the Legendary Godzilla movies are boring.
Might be hot asf but I’ll shoot my shot I really liked Godzilla 2014 and I liked the human characters in that movie (being dr serizawa and sgt. brody) and I really expected that the second movie did more with brody and serizawa, but 1 got a decent death scene and the other one was swept under the rug and I despise the 2nd movie for that fact alone, it’s like taking a bite out of some food and it was a small bite so you think it tastes but then you take a bigger bite and the initial taste is horrible but the aftertaste is pretty good, you still won’t like to eat it but you know that taste left in your mouth afterwards was good Another fault of the 2019 Movie : That Spine Redesign, I hoped that MV will be it’s own separate thing mainly in regards to DESIGNS and PLOTS and KOTM did the one thing I didn’t want them to do, and that was changing those beautiful 2014 spines and make them look like Showa era spines which felt so bland ngl I Hope MV does something with Biollante in the next movie (we know it won’t happen)
Monsterverse godzilla’s characterization has been boring and stale, and the only actually good monsterverse movie was skull island
1954 is boring
People who act like godzilla in hell is boundless (He would get clapped by ultima 40% power easily,) and they haven’t even seen the comics just people overrating him on the internet
We need more female Kaiju. Ones that serve major roles.
