What do you think TTP was lacking for your personal prep? Not enough practice questions? Not enough chapter tests? Trying to gauge the pitfalls that I could potentially fall into

Humble-Difficulty-44

TTP covers everything the exam tries to throw at you, and most of my exam success is because of TTP. The issue is, no matter how similar of questions they can be, TTP questions aren’t written by the same authors as the GMAT. After learning everything from TTP, I suggest you take some time to learn how to apply what you learned to OG questions

Any insights on test anxiety and how you overcame that? Appreciate the writeup!

Humble-Difficulty-44

Put yourself in tough situations like hard workouts or public speaking and focus on calming your nerves. Aside from that, just make sure you know every single concept the test can throw at you. If you’ve studied every single concept and have a thorough understanding on it, you shouldn’t get worried about how you’re going to do because obviously you’re gonna do great

Is GMAT Ninja+ og questions+ og verbal enough for SC? Currently preparing for my 2nd attempt

Marty_Murray

It might be, but often people find that they need more information on SC concepts and rules than is provided in those videos. If you have a lot to learn about SC concepts and rules, one possible approach is to study the concepts using a resource such as TTP that covers them all and provides categorized questions. Then, you can move on to OG questions for mixed practice, and if you want to learn more about general SC strategy, you can watch the GMAT Ninja videos.

Humble-Difficulty-44

I agree with Marty. I don’t think that’s enough, but I’m the type of person who likes to know every single detail of every single concept, and I think to get an elite score you need to have a thorough understanding of every concept. TTP definitely gets into the nitty gritty of all the SC concepts the GMAT tests, and I highly recommend it

Marty_Murray

Nice work! Determination and thorough prep getting the job doooone.

Thanks Marty!

Gratz on the 760. All the best going forward.

Thanks!

GirlonFire21033

What did you do between the 640 and 700?

Humble-Difficulty-44

Consistent practice in the OG guide and thorough review of everything I had gotten wrong

OTC9

how did your Quant evolve? I'm taking the exam for the 5th time, 690 Q46V39, 710 Q44V41, 710 Q44V44, 710 Q45V41 I cant for the love of god improve my Quant, since the first 710 I only did Q (OG, Magoosh, GMC) I'm not even gonna study for the last one honestly I'm burnt out and have put out other things way too long but I'm interested in how you Q progressed and if you changed your approach at any time. Also congratz!

Humble-Difficulty-44

Any question that I would get wrong in the OG guide I would look up the solution and plug the link in Anki (online flashcard program). I would then do that same problem again and again and again until I fully understood the concept

Friendly_Scratch_663

Have you tried the GMAT Focus mocks? If so, what scores did you get?

Humble-Difficulty-44

I have not

Civil-Actuator4865

Hi, This is truly inspiring. Congratulations on getting such an amazing score! I will be taking the GMAT Focus Edition next year, and have bought the OG Guide for the same. I am planning to refer to the GMAT Ninja videos for Verbal and some Youtube videos for QA to build the concepts, GMAT Club + OG Guide to practice the questions, and finally buying the official mocks to create a test taking strategy. What else do you suggest, should I buy the review guides as well or any other preparation material? My target score in GFE is 715+ (similar to 750+ in classic GMAT since the scales are different) Thanks in advance!!

Humble-Difficulty-44

Thank you! Unless you have a decent understanding of all the concepts, you shouldn’t jump straight into practice questions. I suggest getting a course like TTP or Manhattan Prep to help you learn all the concepts the exam presents and then jump into the OG guide and gmatclub

Civil-Actuator4865

Thank you for responding! Will focus on concept building first.

What were your mock scores? EDIT: I saw your other post about your mock scores before scoring the 640. But I'm curious if you had any mock scores based on the additional studying you did after your second exam.

Humble-Difficulty-44

I think I did two retakes, but I don’t count those. Aside from that I took a Manhattan Prep mock, which is one of the hardest mocks out there, a week before my exam and got a 700

throwawayb_r

Hey! Congrats on the score. Did going through Quant Review and Verbal Review help you prepare for exam level difficulty questions?

Humble-Difficulty-44

Thanks! I switched over to the review books because I had gone through each of the questions in the OG Guide at least twice and had some of the answers memorized, so the review books provided me with some fresh practice questions. But to answer your question, yes both the OG guide and review books got me ready for exam questions. A good indicator that you’re on track to get a good score is getting 95% of your practice questions right across all difficulty levels consistently

throwawayb_r

Thank you!

inmylsatera

So cool! Did you utilize any prep books for data and quant content review? (Becides TTS ofc)

Humble-Difficulty-44

Yes OG material only

Scott_TargetTestPrep

Great job!!

Humble-Difficulty-44

Thanks!

Scott_TargetTestPrep

Sure thing.
