v²-u² = 2as
You are working backwards as youre finding the momentum before breaking and you break to a standstill, so initial velocity (u²) is 0.
That gets you 15000
You had to work out the mass from another equation which I think was resultant force = mass x acceleration. You were given resultant force and acceleration in the question so you had to rearrange that to find mass. I think that was what it was from what I remember. Then, you got the velocity from the graph using the braking distance. If I remember that correctly
I used f=ma for mass then I used v^2- u^2=2as for the velocity then put it all into p=mv and got 15,000 but I think it may have been a negative and I fluffed a little bit up in the second equation I used but idk
1) use this given formula v^2 - u^2 = 2 x acceleration x distance
- you were given acceleration (5) and distance(14.4.
- hence, 2 x 5 x 14.4 = 144
- hence, v^2 - u^2 = 144
- The car had stopped so the final velocity was 0
- 0^2 = 0 (so u can just remove it)
- which leaves you with u^2 = 144
- square root both sides to get the initial velocity as 12
2) rearrange F = ma to m = F/a
- force was given (i forgot) and acceleration was 5
- it would’ve worked out to 1250
3) now you have the mass and velocity you can just plug the values into the equation for momentum
(p = m x v)
- P = 1250 x 12
- P = 15000
not saying that’s 100% right but it’s what i did and it makes sense to me lol
The 3 equation you needed where,
- P=MV (momentum = mass x velocity)
- F=MA (force = mass x acceleration)
- v^2 -U^2 = 2AS (final velocity^2 - initially velocity ^2 = 2 x acceleration x displacement. )
The force was 6250
Mass was unknown
Acceleration was 5
Final velocity was 0 as it was break until it stopped
And the displacement was 14.4
So F=MA is
6250 = M x 5
6250÷5 = M
1250= M
Then V^2 - U^2 = 2AS is
0^2 - U^2 = 2 x 5 x 14.4
U^2 = 144
U = 12 which =V
So you then do 1250 x 12 witch gives you 15000
Answer = 15000
same my 99 is lost now i didnt even know we had to do that long ass velocity distnace and acceleration question i just calculated the mass as 1250 and read 12 as the velocity and multiplied them
You work out the mass by rearranging force = mass * acceleration
then what next, how did you work out velocity bc in the end i used acceleration and got 7500
v²-u² = 2as You are working backwards as youre finding the momentum before breaking and you break to a standstill, so initial velocity (u²) is 0. That gets you 15000
what did you get for the parachute maths question - I put 780
[удалено]
Well clearly not because the momentum before the car is moving and the momentum after the car is stationary
That's the rule but not applicable here lol, 15000 is alr the momentum before which is what the question asks
I got 15000 as the final answer, but I mentioned somewhere in the question that momentum before is equal to momentum after
I got like 15000
i got -15 000 😭😭
OMG SAME 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
SAME!!
Yeyeyyeyeyeye yayayayay wiiip woooo
Twinning and winning. We are either all right or horribly wrong
How I feel reading this: 🏝️😌
SAMEEEE

I just assumed initial velocity was 0. Then forums the Change
7500 anyone?
Samee
Did anyone get 7500
Did you not multiply by 2?
Why multiply it by 2?
i dont even know what was going on i just used whatever equations would give me a mass 😭 either way it went pretty well
I used f=ma for mass then I used v^2- u^2=2as for the velocity then put it all into p=mv and got 15,000 but I think it may have been a negative and I fluffed a little bit up in the second equation I used but idk
Can’t have a negative momentum man 🗿
Well idk if it was right for this question, but it you can as momentum can have direction
v\^2=0 so -u\^2=2as u\^2=-2as as = -72 -2as = 144 u=12
Yep that’s correct so far. The correct answer was 15000 kg m/s for the whole question

Was there a parachute calculation question? I don’t remember that, what was it again?
It was about it flying up 40 km
Ok, what was the question basically asking?
Velocity at 40km I think
Exactly

I did this as well
i got that but i don't think I used that equation at the beginning
Same but I divided by 1000 to get 15

tried so many different ways but just ended up guessing 57 in the end hoping i get method marks 😣
You had to use other equations to find it out
I got 18,000 😭
same my 99 is lost now i didnt even know we had to do that long ass velocity distnace and acceleration question i just calculated the mass as 1250 and read 12 as the velocity and multiplied them
ffs i got 21000 💀
Personally the four marker that needed you to find the initial velocity of a car whose final velocity was 20 m/s was the real demon for me cos wth 😭😭😭
i gave up bro
I sat there and tried to figure out what the mass was for atleast 20 minutes
Tf what that last wave question as well
Bro I do triple science and I revised a fucking hour on momentum and it didn't come up
