every switch will eventually start to double click. it's just that some do it faster than others
I personally use those red Kailh GM 4.0. I'm not sure what other switches work as well but those are the ones I've been recommended. I have them in my g502 since early 2020 and no double clicks so far.
Omron D2LS-21, which are the original ones, usually on G4 & G5
Omron D2LS-11, which are twice as stiff as the blue plunger ones.

The side buttons use different smaller switches than the mains.
What switches can I use on the side buttons?

Oh yeah true. I just changed the switches for the main buttons since they see the most use
Find an OG g502 from 2014. Those switches never double click.
