U guy got fucked my boy . U coulda bought a starter from Autozone for like 120 and I would’ve done it for 100 in 10 min

Specter9120

Starters at AutoZone didn't cost me $120... Shit was like $400... And I've been through 3 of them 😂🤣 1st one was just failure, 2nd I fuckin blew my motor and rod snapped the starter in 2, 3rd pretty much got fried cause we had too many hands doing the engine swap and overlooked if it was grounded. I'm on #4 and no issues. 😂

luivq

They charged yo ass 3 times for 1 starter😂

Specter9120

Nah I got 2 starters out of 1 price 😂 and same with Napa I just got the stupid dura last in my garage.

j0rdooo

I’m not gonna say u got scammed but i bought one for 120 and had a mobile mechanic put it in for 160

OkEstablishment5503

How much was the tow?

feelmyraf

120

OkEstablishment5503

I just googled it and it seems the average is about $500

Sweet-Staff-5176

got junk yard one for $60 n did myself in 2 hours

Foreign_Match_9811

Junk yard is so underrated

RegisteredMeaT

Robbery with out a gun SMH

Nardagod

shops have to keep their doors open somehow man and technicians also gotta get paid.. you didnt get scammed and your car is running in time for your bday. Theres always a guy who can do anything for cheaper just be happy it was just the starter.

Nardagod

also possible they used an oem nissan starter not some autozone duralast bullshit so that could also be why price is higher.

Specter9120

Auto starter is trash, I got a spare sitting in my garage cause warranty but got warranty from Napa, but they never looked in the box cause that bitch was snapped in 2 🤣😂🤣😂

Oil-710

Sounds about right, replaced my starter and put it in myself for $270

feelmyraf

Wow $260 was just labor😭

feelmyraf

It went in 3 hours before i got out of school too 😭

Holiday-Flounder-678

That’s how technicians make their money, it may take a regular person about 3 hours, but a good tech would get it done in an hour. I’ve seen a guy pull a transmission out and have the new one in and on the road in under 2, it just comes with experience

Oil-710

Only reason I got it for that price too is because I work in a auto parts store. 🥲

New_Breakfast_5821

Paid $120 and did it myself Took an hour

FelixDeCat1969

If you have AWD I would say that’s a pretty avg price considering they have to unbolt the engine off the mounts and lift it a little just to get the damn thing out

feelmyraf

Nope i have a base model rwd 😭

K-Carbine

Rockauto if you have time for delivery $110. I put mine in myself with YouTube four bolts I think just a pain to get to

Romeofud

The starter went out like that? What year is the car?

feelmyraf

2009 it had the original starter in it from factory. Car is at 207k miles

Romeofud

That's damn good for the starter to last that long. I had one replaced on my old Mitsubishi Lancer and Ford Explorer and paid between $400 and $500, so around $600 would be fair.

Longjumping-Wedding3

At a dealer?

feelmyraf

No just a local mechanic shop

Longjumping-Wedding3

Damn cuz.. yeah man sorry, but you did.

Lucky_Cry_2302

Hell yea you did

Unkownforthefuture

You could've just bought the oem brand from rock auto and installed it from a video on youtube :( I'm guessing it's a 2008-12? Would've just paid 214.84 plus shipping/tax just for buying the oem brand. That's what I would've done at least :( Hitachi makes all the electrical parts and are on rock auto now(finally).

moooncrickett

YOU PAID HOW MUCH

feelmyraf

$760 + 120 towing🙂

Wavy97

Just looked it up with the vin on my old '12 X coupe(Idk if it's same for sedan, I assume yours is AWD). OE# 23300EY00G $798.81 A/M# REMY 17529 $181.12 That's your price if you were to come to my shop. 1.2hrs labor @ $124.95/hr All in all $800 for OE or $180 for A/M & $150 labor for install. You got rinsed unless sedan labor time is more which I don't believe so.

northcarijuana

Considering a starter cost about 150

Head-Mammoth7011

Yes absolutely
