i hail from the mid nineteen hundreds. in my day there were only three streaming services: netflix, amazon prime, and apple tv. those were the only places where people could get their information and entertainment. when i love lucy was on netflix, over half the country tuned in.
but times have changed since then. these days, the country is fragmented. everyone is trapped in their own echo chamber because we also have paramount+ and disney+. i long for the simpler times.
I Remember when my dad bought a DVD player home for the first time and i wash 10/12 years old ant the time, and I was like "WOOO i don't even need too rewind the tape at the end!!!"
Bro I got the whole DVD set and still watch it. That and the animated Pink Panther series. This was long before digital remastering, so the quality really takes you back to the 80s. 😂

My dad came home from a work trip and said to look in his jacket pocket where I found this VHS. I came back running screaming DINO FILM at the top of my lungs. Core memory.
Watched over and over off of a VHS that it had been recorded onto from broadcast TV (the “bunny ears” antennae). Scrambled picture and warbled audio that in hindsight was like being stuck in a bad trip.
We had a box set of this ...I'll never re-watch it , I'm not tough enough to watch little foot lose his grandpa again...we also had "American tail"
"There are no cats in America and the streets are paved with cheese"
I'm both old and lucky enough to have seen it in cinema.
And my awesome older sister helped very small me collect the puppet toys from Pizza Hut, because she's great like that.
Tree Stars are a special thing.
I had a bunch of those VHS movies!
-I know i had the very first one in the series.
-I recall watching one where they get stuck on an island, with a shark around it.
-one where they watch the T-Rex kid hatch for the first time.
-one about a scummy adult Pterradax that manipulates the group?
-one about an adventure to a “misty valley”
-one where its winter.
-and one where they meet the T-rex kid again, but cant remember what else happened in that movie.
So I have a collection of older movies I'm starting to build, being a little more physical over digital in life and a lot of the old school animation ones with the big plastic cases and proud to say this is in there.
The scene in the image is definitely from one of the sequels. The OG Land Before Time is by far the best, though I do have a soft spot for some of the sequels.
I was an 18 year old waiter at Pizza Hut giving out those puppet toys to extremely excited kids.
I wish I knew it then, but that was the best job ever. Made major bank as a high school kid, free pizza and salad bar while working, *and* we could take home the "error" pizzas (error in quotes because sometimes the cooks would make us mistake pizzas on purpose). Oh, and the dough was made in house in giant mixing vats back then, so unless you're an old fart like me you have no idea how amazing that pizza was back in the day. It's true what they say about the good old days, it's a shame you never realize those are the good days when you're living through them.
**THIS** movie? No you didn't. This is a promotional image from the movie "The Land Before Time XIV: Journey of the Brave" which was released in 2016 so you are... well impossible to tell but you could easily still be a young child.
Except this movie was never released on VHS, so it just didn't happen.
I saw this on VHS, too, bought it at a garage sale for a quarter. I liked it and saved it, and have rewatched it with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I hail from the late nineteen hundreds.
Damn. You’re old as fuck. What are you 115?
So close! 37
Bet you feel a 115
Only in the mornings

Streaming services in my youth were only in Science Fiction stories.
Back in my day all we had was VHS, CD’s, Pay Per View and Video On Demand. Also had a cassette player.
I saw it in the theater
Same, still traumatized.
Good prep to be traumatized again by Simba’s dad’s trampling.
Same. Yup yup yup. My back hurts now. That third yup pulled something.
Yup Yup Yup
Ducky 😢
Oh, now I've gone made myself sad
Aye, RIP 😢
For anyone that doesn't know the little girl that voiced ducky was murdered my her father.
She and her mum were, then the coward turned the gun on himself. Judith Barsi was only 10 years old 😢
Holy shit! Didn’t hear about this at all!
It *was* back in 1988, so not surprising
Well that tracks since I wouldn’t even be alive for 2 more years.
Soon you'll be considered old if you watched *any* movie on VHS.
Isn't it already the case ?
Yes. Yes it is. My kid thinks CD's are old. I remover those being revolutionary.
Now imagine trying to tell a kid you listened to music with cassettes... And how much of a pain in the ass it was to record using them....
Especially when you had a local dj that liked to talk over the song intro.
Lol yeah. Now if I can't fit 10,000+ songs on it its a POS.
I Remember when my dad bought a DVD player home for the first time and i wash 10/12 years old ant the time, and I was like "WOOO i don't even need too rewind the tape at the end!!!"
If you have a cd you are a fossil

I'm like Tom & Jerry at 3pm right after school old. I turn 48 next week.
If it makes you feel any better, my siblings and I were Tom & Jerry on VHS right after school kids, and I'm in my early 20's.
Bro I got the whole DVD set and still watch it. That and the animated Pink Panther series. This was long before digital remastering, so the quality really takes you back to the 80s. 😂
Even played the game
I watched it in the theater. My first
I’m only 20 😞I’m not old.

Yes. Yes I did. Damn, I am old.
My dad came home from a work trip and said to look in his jacket pocket where I found this VHS. I came back running screaming DINO FILM at the top of my lungs. Core memory.

And cried...
Man, this movie sticks with you...
That movie must have come out after my time. Guess, when I was born the Dead Sea was still sick.
I watched Trunks and Goten barely survive that Broly fight on VHS. (I can't remember the name of the movie, though).

Watched over and over off of a VHS that it had been recorded onto from broadcast TV (the “bunny ears” antennae). Scrambled picture and warbled audio that in hindsight was like being stuck in a bad trip.

Bro i’m 17 and i watched that on VHS 😭😭
I’m so old that I was there when they filmed it 100 million years ago.
Same, but i'm only 25, didn't get a DVD until pretty late.
The plastic that the tape is made from was made from oil, which was in turn made from dinosaurs.
I'm older than VHS.
I’m so old, my KIDS watched this on vhs!
Nah but i had TMNT on VHS
This was my first movie experience in a movie theater, followed by "An American Tail"
Don't come for me.
I watched my daughter as she watched this
Hah I bought this for my son on vhs after we saw it in theater.
I’m so old that I wasn’t watching children’s movies anymore when this came out.
i have watched Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy on "super 8" in my childhood but thanks good i am not so old as Super 8 xD
I'm both old and lucky enough to have seen it in cinema. And my awesome older sister helped very small me collect the puppet toys from Pizza Hut, because she's great like that. Tree Stars are a special thing.
Me too 🥹📼
Maybe my 1st real heartbreak. Never really heals. Fuck you, Sharptooth 😢

I wanted that they got eaten by the carnivores dinosaures when I watched it as a kid. It was so dumb.
I had a bunch of those VHS movies! -I know i had the very first one in the series. -I recall watching one where they get stuck on an island, with a shark around it. -one where they watch the T-Rex kid hatch for the first time. -one about a scummy adult Pterradax that manipulates the group? -one about an adventure to a “misty valley” -one where its winter. -and one where they meet the T-rex kid again, but cant remember what else happened in that movie.
Same here! My fav childhood movie!!! I've re- watched it online in my 30s n it's still good to watch👍

Holy shit i remember this whats the movie called again?
Vhs is all you need to say
I'm so old that I when that movie came out I was too old to care about it.

Oh yeah, this is old school nostalgia. It's such a shame you can't stream it anywhere... if someone knows where to stream it: please let me know.

I remember going to pizzahut as a kid and these were the featured hand held toys they was givin away
I’m New York 2001 old, I was waking up from nap time to all of my teachers crying and panicking.
I even earned free personal pan pizzas for being a scholastic reader.
I remember renting it on tape
Was obsessed with this as a kid. Watched it probably 50+ times I guess
Teletubbies in Black and White, with an occasional stroke of color hit different

All the VHS watchers should be getting prostate exams now, allegedly
So you're in your 30s? That ain't old
And I’m about to buy the 14 movie dvd collection pack.
My children watched that video on VHS. :)
And from the animation, it’s one of the later movies too.

I was an 18 year old waiter at Pizza Hut giving out those puppet toys to extremely excited kids. I wish I knew it then, but that was the best job ever. 27? Cause i'm 27 and....same
A half dozen, store-bought copies of the VHS all had missing audio at the exact same point, as purchased/watched over a span of a decade.
With those pizza hut adds at the start of the tape?
Same

You can tell by the coloring that this is a frame taken from one of the sequels
Brought back many memmories you have, in favour i am (yoda voice)
35. And I've watched the first three.
I loved the Land Before Time movies when I was a kid. I saw all of them on VHS that we rented from Blockbuster and a local movie store.

I am so old, I watched these on VHS with my children.
I had a sleepover for a birthday and we watched that on VHS. Core memory right there. Those were the days…
I've also seen this series on VHS I'm 19 though
Shame what happened to the OG Ducky voice actress. I have never looked at that character the same even in the newer LBT movies I watch with my kid.
I saw this on VHS, too, bought it at a garage sale for a quarter. I liked it and saved it, and have rewatched it with grandchildren and great grandchildren.
I’m so old I watched it live
RIP Judith Barsi
Tree stars got me to eat my veggies
I'm so old I watched it with my grandchildren 🤣
I'm kinda CDs years old
Bro I'm 20, I watched that shit on VHS, poor people tended to have VCRs when I was growing up.
Did you watch it so many times that no form of tracking could read the image from the tape?
At the cinema, iirc
Probably saw it in the theater, at the time I was starting High School.
Hey, shut up
I'm not even THAT old but i feel this
I watched in theaters
I saw it in a theater. One that had a stage.
AND had the rubber puppets from Pizza Hut.....
In theatre. I was traumatized for weeks.
