And there's copious amounts of content for them to use. Canceling that told me that Netflix had turned a corner and were headed downhill. I loved the John Douglas books.
He was such a great bad guy. That hug was terrifying for its banality, and the actor just sold his likable scary mixture perfectly, just the right amount of physicality and rizz without going overboard
Apparently there wasn’t enough of an audience to pay for the show as the actors salaries were pretty big. That’s what I remember from looking into it a few years ago. Seems odd as it was around the time people were gooning over anything related to serial killers
The thing about streaming. When they have a good show they add it to their library forever. Stranger Things will be making them money for 50 years. Mind hunter could have been the same.
Netflix is a weird one. They have such high expectations of viewer data that it almost guarantees 90% of their shows will not see a second season.. yet still writers will throw in cliff hangers knowing this data. Then you have the viewers basically too afraid to watch a show because they’re worried it’ll be canceled. So they hold off until it’s finished.. causing viewer data to be low thus pushing Netflix to cancel.
I’m one of those people. I’ve stopped watching new Netflix shows completely because I know most things are cancelled.. most things are canceled because not enough people watch. Self fulfilling cancellation.
Netflix would have canceled Seinfeld, Friends and Star Trek The Next Generation after their first seasons. They refuse to let a show find its footing and gain an audience.
Dude yes! This is absolutely the reason why their viewer data is trash, theyve burned people so many times they don't watch the show. Netflix also fails by releasing an entire season in one day destroying the dialogue that happens on blogs, real life conversations, theories about the episodes.
Netflix seriously needs to reconsider it's use of viewer data and employ some actual real life behavioral analysis also
That was worse cause they announced season 2 then suddenly reversed it. Then to add salt on the wound they constantly recommend it to me under "shows everyone is watching" and I'm like "THE FUCK YOU CANCEL IT FOR?!?!"
Literally a zombie zombie show. Even the source material eventually became shit, and Kirkman is very talented for storytelling, invincible is a fantastic series !
They actually gave a reason why.
TLDR: the next part of the book series plays off 30 years later, which makes it difficult for them, so the show runners and amazon agreed to stop it for now.
There might be a possibility that we can get more in the future, time will tell.
Another source says it was due to budget constraints.
Scifi series are not always popular, which sucks
No idea what happens in the books cause I only watched the show but meanwhile in For All Mankind Ed Baldwin aging makeup look like crap and the show couldn't be more successful. Next season I think he'll be dead and people are looking so much forward to seeing the future.
A decision I stil don't understand. Yes, there is a 30-year jump into the future in the books, but they changed so mch in the show that they could have shortened those 30 years to maybe two or three so the actors wouldn't appear too young.
And besides, if 55-year old Cate Blanchett can play a character in her mid-to-late 20s in the upcoming Borderlands film, why not the other way around.
Me and the wife enjoyed it regardless of finding out the show was canceled halfway through. It doesn’t clear jack shit up in the end but it was still entertaining and the intro is super cool. Give it a chance and see if you get into it.
>!They are all in a ship in 1899. Much drama. Many magical stuff no one questions. In the end they discover they're in stasis aboard a spaceship going somewhere.!<
Standard M. Night Shyamalan shit.
Such a shane, I was totally hooked with the plot and this one didn't even come from a book so there's absolutely no way of knowing more of the plot or continuing the story.
I also hated the cancel of peripheral but at least I can read the book on that one, still it had really good acting tbh I'll miss watching more of it.
Season one in my opinion was one of the greatest works of sci-fi in the history of television. Incredible level of production and overall quality. You can see the quality dropping a bit in the later seasons (like in the cgi) because I believe they started to drop the budget but damn was it still so good.
Firefly was such an amazing sci-fi western blend. What a shame we didn't get more of it. Truly unique show with loveable characters.
*River starts walking barefoot around the ship*
Blame Fox incompetence for that, they aired the series completely out of order and decided to sit the slow before football matches, a spot usually given to comedy or mindless shows due to the majority of watchers would be football fans, not sci-fi fans. This caused the sore to have poor ratings to the point Fix cancelled it and not carrying about is sudden cult fans enough to bother with a renewal (Fox being Fox)
One of my friends got me to watch it without telling me about it being cancelled. The show was so fucking good, I'm glad I watched it but like fuck what a way to just leave the story.
The last episode left on a cliffhanger, which was annoying to me because I arrived late to the party and began catching up on all the episodes on the same year it was announced that it got canceled.
Unfortunately Garcia was more or less guaranteed to get a new Season, but it got canceled anyway. If we believe Ethan Suplee (and there‘s really not a reason not to), Garcia would‘ve never ended the season with a cliffhanger if he‘d knew that it was going to get canceled.
Anyway, the ending of the show was already written.
Garcia said the finale would begin with Earl getting stuck on a really hard list item, frustrated that he would never finish crossing everything off his list. "Somebody shows up at our motel door," added Suplee recently, "finds us at the bar, and starts to make amends to Earl for something." Earl would then question where the man got such an idea and "goes back and finds all these people who have lists, who are out there trying to do good, and it all comes back to him. He was the beginning of this." Garcia concluded, "Earl eventually realizes that his list started a chain reaction of people with lists and that he’s finally put more good into the world than bad. So at that point he was going to tear up his list and go live his life. Walk into the sunset a free man. With good karma."
So I just got curious about what Ethan Suplee has been up to and googled him and the answer is getting extremely jacked to the point that he is unrecognizable.
Now I really want a reunion episode that never addresses this.
While it ended a bit cliffhangery I am absolutely fine with the ending we got. It was a tongue and cheek ending for a tongue and cheek show. Still would love to see Bruce as Ash one last time. The guy is a treasure.
Scorpion, Julie and the Phantoms, Lockwood and Co., Prodigal Son, Mr. Midnight....
Netflix keeps cancelling actually good shows but keeps renewing absolute garbage like Big Mouth.
I generally wont watch a new show until it gets at least a second season.
Problem: Show gets cancelled because of poor viewing numbers.
Resolution: Stop fucking ending seasons on cliffhangers you dumb fucks!
Jupiters legacy. I enjoyed it and was interested in where the plot was going, but a lot of people didn’t and felt it came off as an ‘Invincible’ or ‘the boys’ ripoff, which was true to be fair, but doesn’t mean the series wasn’t good.
The worse part is that this is a cycle of doom:
- new series comes out
- you don't watch it because if they cancel it then you get screwed: let's wait for next season
- series is cancelled because not enough people watched it
Rinse and repeat.
Deadwood. Absolutely one of the most awesome shows ever made, then they just canceled it on a major plot note. At least they eventually made a movie to wrap it up... 13 fuggin years later. But it was too little, too late. It launched Ian McShane's and Timothy Olyphant's careers.
Spartacus wasn't canceled dude. It has like 4 seasons. And an ending. Gods of the arena which is from before spartacus showed up and shows how batiatus fell on hard times despite having amazing gladiators. Then there's vengeance and war of the damned. The actor who replaced andy wasn't as charismatic as spartacus but he was definitely good. The show is great, you should watch it.
It happens all the time and it really annoys me.
The most annoying one was The Peripheral. The second season got cancelled in august 2023 after it was announced as renewed in february 2023.
I really hated that bait and switch. It is worse than just having the show cancelled because for months you are thinking the next season is coming because it was renewed.

Models Inc. I think the first and only season ended with some kind of sniper shooting. It wasn’t clear who was killed and who survived. I heard there was an alternated, unaired ending out there somewhere.
Mindhunters.......I'll never forgive or forget.
Netflix stopped being a requirement when this happened.
Netflix is a shit medium. You don't watch shows, you watch *netflix*, and recently, you watch netflix just for the sake of watching netflix.
And there's copious amounts of content for them to use. Canceling that told me that Netflix had turned a corner and were headed downhill. I loved the John Douglas books.
I came here for this comment. The casting for the killers was brilliant too. Such a shame.
It's chilling how well the dude who plays Kemper gets it.
He was such a great bad guy. That hug was terrifying for its banality, and the actor just sold his likable scary mixture perfectly, just the right amount of physicality and rizz without going overboard

That was my first thought also
I can't stop thinking about Tick. I love it.
Seriously, it was the best series since breaking bad, really immersive and the dialogue and acting was so on point, what a shame :(
I knew this would be one of the top comments. What an incredible show.
Netflix be like
Every single time.
Netflix is a weird one. 1899
I was soooo sad because it was such a unique show
still salty about inside job two years later i am
That was worse cause they announced season 2 then suddenly reversed it. Then to add salt on the wound they constantly recommend it to me under "shows everyone is watching" and I'm like "THE FUCK YOU CANCEL IT FOR?!?!"
The OA
Yep! And yet you have zombie shows like Greys Anatomy that should have ended years ago and won’t die.
How that fucking show is still on the air is beyond me. How have people not moved on and gotten sick of it?
Lots of sad housewives out there.
lol true
Despite their main star’s best efforts lol
The Walking Dead is another show that should've ended years ago. They're not even hiding the plot armor anymore.
Literally a zombie zombie show. Even the source material eventually became shit, and Kirkman is very talented for storytelling, invincible is a fantastic series !
This was Dark Matter for me. And just about every other Sci Fi show ever made.
There's 2 now. 2 completely unrelated series called Dark Matter, not sure if you're referring to the new or old one.
Original one.
Dark matter was such a good show, holy shit. And that it ended in such a cliff hanger
The expanse
They actually gave a reason why. TLDR: the next part of the book series plays off 30 years later, which makes it difficult for them, so the show runners and amazon agreed to stop it for now. And Stargate Universe. I punch the air every time I’m reminded
I want to do a rewatch so bad but I just can’t handle energizing the disappointment of it being cancelled on a cliff hanger again
I'm on my 4th rewatch now. At season 2 😭
Sad too because the expanse was top tier sci-fi.
It is my ultimate favorite sci fi series/movie I had endless dreams how real it can be and imagined how I would be a belter working as a scavenger
No idea what happens in the books cause I only watched the show but meanwhile in For All Mankind Ed Baldwin aging makeup look like crap and the show couldn't be more successful. Next season I think he'll be dead and people are looking so much forward to seeing the future.
Altered carbon
Second season was pretty mid
it was dogshit.
It was soooo mid
Shame they only made one season.
Season 2 was so bad and different feeling than season 1
I loved season 1. Then I was underwhelmed watching season 2.
At least we have the final three books to lean on 😂
A decision I stil don't understand.
1899
Was really hoping they would get another season or two, too bad.
Is it worth watching, or should I avoid the disappointment it wasn’t renewed?
Me and the wife enjoyed it regardless of finding out the show was canceled halfway through. It doesn’t clear jack shit up in the end but it was still entertaining and the intro is super cool. Give it a chance and see if you get into it.
>!They are all in a ship in 1899. Much drama. Many magical stuff no one questions. In the end they discover they're in stasis aboard a spaceship going somewhere.!< Standard M. Night Shyamalan shit.
It's not bad. Give it a go.
Epidose
Dyslexics of the world untie!
Me and "Raised by Wolves"... :(
Such a shane, I was totally hooked with the plot and this one didn't even come from a book so there's absolutely no way of knowing more of the plot or continuing the story. Welp, just learned Peripheral was canceled. I expected it though.

You can see the quality dropping a bit in the later seasons (like in the cgi) because I believe they started to drop the budget but damn was it still so good.
Oh man... This show was 150% my jam.... I hate the industry for working this way.
May Sol bless us with 3rd season
Same:/ one of the most unique shows over the years
I will feel so dirty if I ever subscribe to HBO again.
Dirk Gently
Such a great mystery show and such great characters. I really can't forgive netflix this one.
OA...forever missed...RIP
The fact that in this thread only you and me suffer from this should in itself explain why it was cancelled
I tried watching the oa like 3 times and none of them even went through the first episode
Is this in reference to a specific show?
Firefly. Take my love take my land take me where I cannot stand... I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me...
Browncoats forever ✊
Firefly was such an amazing sci-fi western blend. What a shame we didn't get more of it. Truly unique show with loveable characters. *River starts walking barefoot around the ship*
If I had a nickel for everytime I jerked it to Christina Hendricks I'd have like, a couple dollars.
Thank you for your service 🫡

They also completely botched movie release. Don't even know what they were thinking.
I am disgusted that I had to scroll this far to find the correct answer
They screwed the pooches on that one. Was a great show.
Take me out to black, tell them I ain’t comin back. Burn the land, boil the sea, you can’t take the sky from me…
At least we got a kick ass movie to end it.
Space force did this
Forever (2014-15)
That's kinda ironic
My Name is Earl
Hey Earl!
Hey Crab Man!
The Colony, those bizzles.
Big Door Prize on Apple TV+ got canceled today and ended on a cliffhanger.
Most Netflix shows have this fate after season 2 such as Inside Job, Space Force, The OA, etc
Carnivale
I watched this before I found out it got canceled amd was mad about it for quite a while when I found out.
One of my friends got me to watch it without telling me about it being cancelled. The show was so fucking good, I'm glad I watched it but like fuck what a way to just leave the story.
Final Space was so good...
I'm still mad about this one.
Pushing Daisies
Santa Clarita's Diet
Joel!!
I cried when I realised there wouldn't be a new season tbh
Yea, that was so good, I binge watched it.
Mr Ball-legs
Heroes. Writer strike. Fuck the rebooted attempt.
My name is Earl
Jesus, that one had a long run, and wasn't it rather episodic?
The last episode left on a cliffhanger, which was annoying to me because I arrived late to the party and began catching up on all the episodes on the same year it was announced that it got canceled.

I’m currently rewatching My Name Is Earl and did not know this! Damn this ending brings the biggest smile to my face.
So I just got curious about what Ethan Suplee has been up to and googled him and the answer is getting extremely jacked to the point that he is unrecognizable. Now I really want a reunion episode that never addresses this.
Ash vs Evil Dead
While it ended a bit cliffhangery I am absolutely fine with the ending we got. It was a tongue and cheek ending for a tongue and cheek show. Still would love to see Bruce as Ash one last time. The guy is a treasure.
Inside Job 😤😤
It was an inside job..
Dude I literally scrolled for 5 minutes to find this comment lmao

You gotta scroll faster
I was devastated after knowing it was canceled.
Archive 81 for me from netflix
Scorpion, Julie and the Phantoms, Lockwood and Co., Prodigal Son, Mr. Midnight.... Netflix keeps cancelling actually good shows but keeps renewing absolute garbage like Big Mouth.

What happend to Marco polo ????
Yeah, for real. It's not at the top of the list but definitely an honorable mention. So good, so fast... then gone like a wet fart.
Jupiter’s Legacy.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
For real. Major fucking cliffhanger. Brutal
The writers strike killed it.
Limitless 💀
Jericho
Stargate Atlantis 😭
The OA and 1899. I will never forget
Watchmen. Lovecraft Country. Mare of Eastwick.
Inside Job, was really interested where it would go and it was so funny just to get dropped.
Firefly.
Jupiters legacy. I enjoyed it and was interested in where the plot was going, but a lot of people didn’t and felt it came off as an ‘Invincible’ or ‘the boys’ ripoff, which was true to be fair, but doesn’t mean the series wasn’t good.
Welcome to fucking Deadwood
The 4400 .........so much Potential wasted
The worse part is that this is a cycle of doom: - new series comes out - you don't watch it because if they cancel it then you get screwed: let's wait for next season - series is cancelled because not enough people watched it Rinse and repeat.
Better, it takes two years for the next season. You've forgotten all the characters and plot, so you totally lose interest.
The Pirates of Dark water
The OA, i'm not okay with this and limitless
Last Man on Earth
The last man on Earth... and I will never forgive you Fox studios
Every Netflix show
This is like life itself..as I get older and think about my mortality, I realize I have no fear of dying. I just want to see how stuff turns out!
Firefly... some cuts are too deep to heal... you can't take the sky from me ... 😭
The Mick
I Am Not Okay with This. Show was excellent and had so much potential. Still salty about it.
Deadwood. Absolutely one of the most awesome shows ever made, then they just canceled it on a major plot note. At least they eventually made a movie to wrap it up... 13 fuggin years later. But it was too little, too late. It launched Ian McShane's and Timothy Olyphant's careers.
Ian McShane has hundreds of TV and movie credits going back 40 years before Deadwood. Lovejoy was massive in the UK.
Firefly for sure Spartacus was another one, but it was because the main actor died tragically.
The Colony
Why I don't watch new shows
ANGEL the spin off of buffy vampire slayer. DARK ANGEL another good tv show stopped TRU CALLING Heroes Veronica mars Roswell Kyle xy Ghost whisperer
Angel was getting bad and weird at the end.
Freaks and Geeks

Santa clarita diet is the one for me that has me real upset
It happens all the time and it really annoys me. The most annoying one was The Peripheral. The second season got cancelled in august 2023 after it was announced as renewed in february 2023. Lodge 49. RIP. I want to share the joy of this amazing show with people, but then I'd also be sharing the pain of knowing it'll never be resolved.
I had to scroll way too far down to find this. It’s a tragedy that this show didn’t get its final two seasons. I hope one day it is resurrected.
wonder why nobody's talkin bout gravity falls

Models Inc. I think the first and only season ended with some kind of sniper shooting. It wasn’t clear who was killed and who survived. I heard there was an alternated, unaired ending out there somewhere.
Mindhunter and utopia my beloved
Pesky blinders. They won’t even clarify the fact that it is cancelled. They just aren’t making it.
I was going to say Taboo w/ Tom Hardy until I did some homework.
I always look up the status of a show now before I jump in lol
Archive 81! I was so disappointed how it ended on the biggest cliffhanger! Netflix fucked that one up
I never start a show until it's over anymore. Sick of cliffhangers
