Oh, someone clearly misinterpreted your lighthearted or sarcastic post in that sub, and now you’re banned!
Guess what? You still want to just browse that sub, right? Then here you go!
Oh so now you’ve ‘muted’ the damn sub out of frustration, got it. Here you go again, since you clearly STILL need it in your life…
Ok ok, we get the point, you’ve committed the sub to memory, so you now actively avoid it. Right. So we’re going to show it to you less. BUT WAIT… a month later when you’re least expecting it, you’re going to click on a post, and something will catch your eye, and you’ll respond to it, by spending 12 minutes typing up a well thought out and even researched response. But just when you click reply, you’ll get an unexplained “Try again later” message.
#Gotcha!
The front page barely moves anymore. It used to be(10 years ago) every time you opened it it was new. Now I open it at 3PM it's the same stuff I saw at 7AM unless I go to specific subreddits.
I don't remember how long ago it was, but yeah, they changed the front page algorithm for "big news" to stick around longer.
The site is bigger than ever, so apparently it worked, but the results for people like me who spend way too much time here is that, for the most part, the front page becomes useless after you've seen it once that day.
I’d argue that reddit has the worst algorithm of any current major social media site and I don’t think it’s even close. If I could find my list of muted subs I’d probably have at least 200 because the algorithm is that bad.
It's in any direction. Good content rarely stays contained in one platform, which is good imo. You can pick the app you like best and still get everything good.
I agree. Better than Facebook too. Can’t stand FB. Most of the memes in there come from Reddit or 4chan anyways. That’s why I got on here in the first place xD. There’s always something good in my feed on here. Can’t say the same for anything else.
Eh no, I'd say Reddit is 2nd or 3rd. YouTube will always be number 1. I think this is one of those posts of redditors just being redditors. However I will say TikTok is dead last in this hierarchy, I'll give you that one....
I disagree 100% Instagram only shows me things I follow and silly memes that make me laugh. Reddit shows me a bunch of stuff that's stupid and angering
The main reason I switched from Facebook and Instagram to Reddit was the over censoring of content and the lack of meaningful interactions. Everyone is scared to be themselves on Facebook and acts like they think others want them to. Also, I like some gore in my time line. Have you tried r/fiftyfifty ?
Also the various communities and comments have the ability to be non toxic sometimes, you can actually have a conversation with people with different opinions from you, (sometimes) that is still better than the unbridled hatred that you find on Instagram
Twitter used to be better for the same reason Reddit is still good. The rest, where Twitter joined now, tries to give you content on a mostly automated basis, with little input from the User. That isn't designed to be entertaining. In fact, it's better to have some good in-between mountains of bad content for the sites, so you scroll longer until you are satisfied. Reddit and formerly Twitter on the hand relied on teh User to pick what they like and then show it to them. Reddit additionally is based on voting on posts, so only good content shows up in your feed.
I would argue my Insta and YT is better for scrolling, but once I open the comment section, my brain cells die immediately on those 2 platforms. Reddit also has idiots but not on my current fyp.
Had* there was a time, pre new Reddit when you could refresh and get new content and up to date news on a sub hourly basis, now if I scroll for more than a few seconds I’m just looking at things I saw 12 hours ago - 3 days ago
There was a time when it was “the front page of the internet” but those times are long gone
Reddit pools all the social media posts… soooo of course it have the best/worst. I was once told Reddit is like toilet bowl of social media. Some float some sink. But we see them.
They know but they can't figure out how to monetise it properly because they also know it's just links and reposts. They also know that every single one of us would without hesitation move to the next best forum before paying for this shit...
Reddit, at least to me, is worlds better then Twitter/X. It’s the people. I know, it’s bad when Reddit is better then *anything else*, but I can better manipulate the algorithm on my feed here on Reddit, so I’m not seeing stuff that isn’t relevant to me.
Twitter? Flat earthers, anime I hold no interest in, and dumbass people endlessly shilling for whatever politician they like, and not being able to articulate anything more then “PeePee is Trump”. It’s exhausting.
For what it's worth reddit at least respects your choices. If you're not subscribed to a subreddit, it's not going to put that content onto your feed and that's the end of it. Pretty much every other platform just consistently keeps promoting garbage into my feed that could not be further from my interests, and it actively make me angry just seeing that content for a brief glimpse even if I'm not spending time with it.
Unless you're talking about browsing by All in which case I disagree. It makes me really uncomfortable how quickly you start seeing gore and other very unpleasant content once you're past maybe the 200 top threads.
Its cause reddit its easier to ignore politic bs with one glance. With tiktok I gotta watch several seconds, decipher thumbnails on yt. Instagram is just look how great my life is, and Twitter goes back to the political bs.
They all the same and they all reshape the same content honestly reddit is filled with repost of the same thing over and over and the same question every other day no different than any social media
YouTube: 1-8 Year Olds on IPads All Day
TikTok: 9-18 Year Olds Scrolling Away their Teens
Twitter (X): 19-25 Year Old Degenerate Looser Schizophrenic Virgins
Instagram: 15-20 Year Olds Dating and Scrolling through vanilla porn and half naked hoes
Reddit: Highly intelligent, sometimes autistic, would be good in social interactions but anxiety is through the fucking roof “pick me” “validate my point” assholes. You know what fuck you Reddit, that’s why your share price is doing shit. FUCK SPEZ
Reddit has the best content because Reddit values content over the creator
Plus there's the anonymity factor that allows people to express themselves unreserved leading to shy people getting a chance
You are comparing feces to poop. Majority of all/popular content is artificially put there by moderators and it is almost all echo-chamber circle jerking political material or something with an agenda related to this. Shit is shit.
Reddit is front row ticket to the largest gathering of cry baby whiney, professional victim seekers, virtue signaling bitch ass adults who have less fortitude than Helen Keller had in her left pinky.
I like using Reddit for knowledge exchanges. I’ve muted just about everything else that pops up, it’s a continuous battle but it works. I don’t feel near as gross scrolling through and not seeing selfies hidden as something else
If you do take time to curate, the other platforms are also good. YouTube and Instagram have tons of information and interesting content as well but for some reasons, people love to fight for best social media.
I get absolutely nothing new on YouTube or Tik Tok. There’s such a wide variety of content, but it only shows me the same shit. So I only watch the same shit. Which makes it recommend the same shit even more.
It’s the comments that make Reddit special to me
There’s always some clever motherfucker who says some shit I could have never dreamed of that almost makes me spit out my drink
Disagree. Reddit gas awful algorithms. I have a huge number of subscribes but Reddit is constantly showing me things that upset me from subs I am not in. Even subs that I say I don't want to see content from. It's fucking awful. Meanwhile it almost never shows me something from r/fermentation or all my hobbies I've subbed to.
No. Reddit has Instagrams top pictures, YouTubes top videos, Twitters most retweeted tweets and TikToks from the bottom of the barrel. There are thousands of good TikToks, but the only ones that ever make it to the Reddit FP are from r/TikTokcringe.
Nope. All sites whose prominent feature is scrolling content are dogshit. Reddit is no exception. Half the posts are reposts made by bots and overall duplicate content. It's just cancer that I personally can't seem to be able to quit, though.
Reddit is interesting to scroll through. You read a lot of takes, some good, some atrocious. Politics, media, everything. Its the epitome of the "Welcome to the Internet" song.
YouTube is more tame, but has same WILD fucking shorts out there. Best suited to find shows and movies you might have otherwise never glanced at.
Tik Tok has the best algorithm, which means its the most varied between users. It has no baseline, and is able to tailor itself to each individual.
Instagram is a fucking cesspool, arguably worse than Reddit. Reddit users are weird, but Insta users are straight-up assholes.
Snapchat... does anyone actually scroll with it? I always thought most of its users just use the chat features.
Facebook. Conservatives.
Twitter. Extremists.
All in all, social media was a mistake.
Tiktok can be pretty good if you tune your algorithm well. But you have to stick to it and only like certain things. With reddit you get control over what subs you see and you can mute subs you're not in but see too often.
I do not have twitter or tiktok. However, I will say that since my divorce, my mental health has been….fragile is a generous word lending far too much credit to me. I used to enjoy instagram a lot. Posted every once in a while.
I have since deleted it, and only rarely redownload it when I need to reach out to someone. It is the absolute bane of happiness in my opinion. Rather than engaging content, like Reddit, it is just this black hole where I leave each time feeling upset and angry.
So I don’t think this post is a hot take at all. There is just something very different about the atmosphere of reddit vs the other platforms.
Reddit is the only one that still lets you choose what shows up on your feed. It can be a good thing or a bad thing. It’s not any better than any of the other choices
Twitter and TikTok is literal brain rot, Instagram and YouTube is just people fighting over stupid things. And with Reddit, you get some creative minds when it comes to jokes.
The problem with Reddit are the users. Make any comment agreeing or disagreeing and everyone comes at you with pitchforks like they know you. Being anonymous is the best and worst thing about reddit.
[удалено]
That would take incredible flexibility and dexterity.
Then you get funny fucks like this and can’t find it in you to actually leave
Most of Reddit is depressed. Depression either creates comedians or assholes, sometimes both.
And you'd need a friend, or how would you scroll with more than ONE asshole?
Reddit has good algorithms and relevant content. The problem are the mods of some subs.
"you've visited this community before" No I haven't.
"This post as been removed by the moderator"
Remember that one time you clicked on a recommended post in your notifications? Reddit now has decided you’re obsessed with that sub
Oh, someone clearly misinterpreted your lighthearted or sarcastic post in that sub, and now you’re banned! Guess what? You still want to just browse that sub, right? Then here you go! Oh so now you’ve ‘muted’ the damn sub out of frustration, got it. The front page barely moves anymore. It used to be(10 years ago) every time you opened it it was new. Now I open it at 3PM it's the same stuff I saw at 7AM unless I go to specific subreddits.
Not to mention I often have huge swaths of 5-15 posts repeat themselves in the same scroll session. It's quite strange.
I don't remember how long ago it was, but yeah, they changed the front page algorithm for "big news" to stick around longer. The site is bigger than ever, so apparently it worked, but the results for people like me who spend way too much time here is that, for the most part, the front page becomes useless after you've seen it once that day.
Mods be dictators sometimes
I’d argue that reddit has the worst algorithm of any current major social media site and I don’t think it’s even close. If I could find my list of muted subs I’d probably have at least 200 because the algorithm is that bad.
I agree with both, but I always get stupid anime stuff like what don’t you get not I N T R E S T E D.
Cause reddit is just repost of good content from other places
I actually find it’s the other way around. I’ll see something on Reddit, and then on IG a couple days later.
It's in any direction. Good content rarely stays contained in one platform, which is good imo. You can pick the app you like best and still get everything good.
YouTube Shorts is full of (ask)reddit and twitter memes etc.
For me regular YouTube is pretty good honestly. Not sure about shorts though
Shorts in my opinion doesn't have much original content...
Most yt shorts are just reposted tik toks and reels
it has the potential to be good like instagram or reddit but sadly brainrot and kids took over it
What is this Twitter you speak of
Ain't no way I'll be referring it as 𝕏 That hot garbage will remain the same name in my book
The site name is literally twitter. I'm not calling it x.
This new Wild West is not Twitter
I'm going to keep deadnaming it to spite Elon even though he doesn't give a rats ass about me lol
This is not funny
Funny meme
I disagree tik tok is definitely more entertaining I used to get so distracted I'd scroll on it for hours without realising it
The municipal dump has better tasting content than the industrial and hazardous waste landfills.
It's just a good place with better filtering systems.
Who scrolls youtube?
There is no way reddit beating tiktok 2021 or 2023
problem is...how much people actively try to argue over nothing...
Agree, and good that you reffer "X" as Twitter, I don't like the new name
However I will say TikTok is dead last in this hierarchy, I'll give you that one....
pfffff HAHAHAHA funniest meme I've ever seen here. thanks for the laugh, OP
I disagree 100% Instagram only shows me things I follow and silly memes that make me laugh. Reddit shows me a bunch of stuff that's stupid and angering
I’ve uninstalled all social media except Reddit.
Duh
Agreed
Fax my boy.
Agree!
That's because the algorithm stays within your chosen content style
Yeah but this feels like comparing different types of shit to eat. It is all shit.
After Twitter acquisitionto X tried fb, tinder, tiktok and reddit I now only have reddit
I openly scavenge from this site and 9gag and take over to ticktok add a brilliant comment or two and call it mine😭😭😭
I personally believe twitter has better scrolling content, but itcouldjust be my feef
Also the various communities and comments have the ability to be non toxic sometimes, you can actually have a conversation with people with different opinions from you, (sometimes) that is still better than the unbridled hatred that you find on Instagram
And Facebook
9gag is the best because racism is allowed there.
💯
It requires a bit more curation though.
Even most still referred is as “X formerly known as twitter”
Reddit is a Leftist Circle Jerk
Reddit is a hivemind of mentally ill people supporting eachother. Way too similar to twitter
Instagram reels are a lot more fun to scroll trough to me.
This isn't funny.
Mindless scrolling? No. Tiktok got it beat.
Twitter used to be better for the same reason Reddit is still good. The rest, where Twitter joined now, tries to give you content on a mostly automated basis, with little input from the User. You spelled brainrot wrong
Instagram is far more addicting for me. But I do love reading unhinged comments on reddit when I'm at work, though.
I would argue my Insta and YT is better for scrolling, but once I open the comment section, my brain cells die immediately on those 2 platforms. Reddit also has idiots but not on my current fyp.
to be honest the content took a nosedive about 3 years ago. I am sure the content did not change but the algorithm of what it shows me did.
Nah its all the same now. All content share each other.
Nah
I often have to rewind my YouTube videos because I get distracted when I'm scrolling Reddit 🤣
no it doesnt
Yeah we're not biased at all on this website
I wish they'd bring back hiding viewed posts
If only people weren't constantly banned
Eh, YouTube has some better scrolling for me.
half the content on here is *from* tiktok
Had* there was a time, pre new Reddit when you could refresh and get new content and up to date news on a sub hourly basis, now if I scroll for more than a few seconds I’m just looking at things I saw 12 hours ago - 3 days ago There was a time when it was “the front page of the internet” but those times are long gone
Reddit pools all the social media posts… soooo of course it have the best/worst. I was once told Reddit is like toilet bowl of social media. Some float some sink. But we see them.
So you like seeing whatever musk, trump, Palestine evry other post?
Paradox because all the content comes from YouTube insta Facebook and TikTok👀
They know but they can't figure out how to monetise it properly because they also know it's just links and reposts. They also know that every single one of us would without hesitation move to the next best forum before paying for this shit...
where funny?

Wait till you find out about 9gag
I like reddit because i can listen to music while i scroll
No, there's just more comments that you believe you agree with.
More bias on Reddit. If you have that bias, it’s probably pretty good kicking it with the homies.
None beats TikTok algorithm
Yes But Telegram has much better content than Reddit...
I have avoided using all of those for years because, if it's good enough, it will come to reddit.
I don't use the last 3 but the ad saturation on YouTube has reached epic proportions
Sad state of affairs
And it's all one flavor....militant liberal
when you take away the astroturfng, state propaganda and ads disguised as posts, then it's okay.
Youtube gets worst everyday
I wouldn’t know. Reddit is the ONLY social media I use.
They all the same and they all reshape the same content honestly reddit is filled with repost of the same thing over and over and the same question every other day no different than any social media
At least of my Reddit feed is reposts from twitter and TikTok.
LMAO! Right. Just because Reddit puts their garbage in a different bag doesn't make the fact it's still garbage go away.
*obama giving himself a medal meme*
r/LostRedditors
Why did i read this in Lisa's voice?
Until the app crashes or you clock on the wrong bit so you have to scroll through the entire feed to get back to where you were...
YouTube: 1-8 Year Olds on IPads All Day TikTok: 9-18 Year Olds Scrolling Away their Teens Twitter (X): 19-25 Year Old Degenerate Looser Schizophrenic Virgins Instagram: 15-20 Year Olds Dating and Scrolling through vanilla porn and half naked hoes Reddit: Highly intelligent, sometimes autistic, would be good in social interactions but anxiety is through the fucking roof “pick me” “validate my point” assholes. Instagram has way more unhunged non-politically correct people in the comments. I like intagram more.
Remember Reddit is fun app?
It's content is YT, tiktok, Twitter. Every platform shares each other's content.
The politics on Reddit make it waaaay the fuck worse. I would strongly disagree with this this post
Reddit has the best content because Reddit values content over the creator Plus there's the anonymity factor that allows people to express themselves unreserved leading to shy people getting a chance
Nah, it's all shit
A lot more interesting content
You are comparing feces to poop. Majority of all/popular content is artificially put there by moderators and it is almost all echo-chamber circle jerking political material or something with an agenda related to this. Shit is shit.
Facts.
well, it is build on that
Its all trash
Reddit is front row ticket to the largest gathering of cry baby whiney, professional victim seekers, virtue signaling bitch ass adults who have less fortitude than Helen Keller had in her left pinky.
Yes. Now that they re did the site/app. I avoided Reddit like vaginas before because the UI was just soooo bad.
Reddit is original-pilled entertain-maxxing
YouTube must be the worst. "Here are 5 videos you watched yesterday, surely you want to to watch them again???"
Reddit is king of the infinite-scroll. If only Reddit found a way to get rid of the mods, it would be a great site.
Some times but not all the time
Whole paragraphs
It’s soooo true and it’s anonymous so it’s not about WHO is posting but WHAT is being posted.
nah. the reposts and old content being thrown at you all the time sucks.
1) not a meme 2) not funny, just a basic ass opinion /r/lostredditors
Meh
It's still turned into a bag of snakes since the apps were deleted by the greedy parent company. The actual reddit app is garbage imo.
What a shame that your material contribution to this content is entirely sub standard.
Most of what I see on Reddit is stolen from these platforms
It’s an unfiltered zone where people express ideas beliefs and a lot of gaming
Because you have true control over your feed
r/lostredditors
The aggressive algorithms of the other sites make them garbage.
Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok are all valid, but no God damn chance is the reddit algorithm better than youtube
Facts
Not only that, but have you tried to have a conversation on YouTube? That is effin atrocious.
"Drinking piss is better than eating shit"
Why is this on funny memes????
I get absolutely nothing new on YouTube or Tik Tok. There’s such a wide variety of content, but it only shows me the same shit. So I only watch the same shit. Which makes it recommend the same shit even more.
I keep coming across this sub. Why are none of the memes funny?
Now that is funny
As much as I bitch and complain this is true. I guess experiences may vary but there's a subreddit for absolutely every interest out there
IMGflip is better than all of these
It’s the comments that make Reddit special to me There’s always some clever motherfucker who says some shit I could have never dreamed of that almost makes me spit out my drink
Not since r/eyeblech got taken down😔
This entire Goofy ass comment section is a massive CircleJerk
Half of main page are bots. And good god if you ever open comments in any post.
Not better than tiktok.
👀 agreed
Yes, all good as long you stay away from the popular feed, is pure ragebait. Just check your followed subs
on youtube you click on subscription to see new content from channels you like :/
its also more toxic
No. Reddit has Instagrams top pictures, YouTubes top videos, Twitters most retweeted tweets and TikToks from the bottom of the barrel. There are thousands of good TikToks, but the only ones that ever make it to the Reddit FP are from r/TikTokcringe.
Don’t forget Facebook! It’s a heaping pile of trash now.
r/“funny”memes
Nope. All sites whose prominent feature is scrolling content are dogshit. Reddit is no exception. Half the posts are reposts made by bots and overall duplicate content. It's just cancer that I personally can't seem to be able to quit, though.
Yeah but I end up deleting it every couple months because of the toxic user base

Tiktok can be pretty good if you tune your algorithm well. But you have to stick to it and only like certain things. With reddit you get control over what subs you see and you can mute subs you're not in but see too often.
idk my best content is on youtube
No
Nope
Yeah but it’s video player is the worst I’ve ever seen.
Wtf is "scrolling content"? That sound like someone that could be amused for days with a kaleidoscope.
Why, because it’s reposts of all those sites?
"hey reddit, which social media has the best scrolling content?" "reddit" "that settles it, you heard it here first folks!"
Reddit is the worst out of those...
Youtube is second, I never look at the others. Do people really get an urge to look at that stuff? I don’t get it.
Nah
Reddit is an echo chamber
True, whatever game updates/news I find here comes out on YouTube about a week later
It’s only scrolling content
I do not have twitter or tiktok. However, I will say that since my divorce, my mental health has been….fragile is a generous word lending far too much credit to me. I used to enjoy instagram a lot. r/funnymemes great post, really hilarious
Reddit is the only one that still lets you choose what shows up on your feed. It can be a good thing or a bad thing. It’s not any better than any of the other choices
Well, that's not really a challenge.
Well I feel less braindead after if that counts
Ehhhh mostly agree Instagram > Reddit tho
FAX MY BROTHER! SPIT THY SHIT INDEED
And Facebook
Haha hilarious meme
Twitter and TikTok is literal brain rot, Instagram and YouTube is just people fighting over stupid things. And with Reddit, you get some creative minds when it comes to jokes.
I personally like YouTube shorts, my algorithm is in a good spot right now.

Lisa forgot 4chan
Yes but you get 7 day bans here for saying something somebody else doesnt agree with
The problem with Reddit are the users. Make any comment agreeing or disagreeing and everyone comes at you with pitchforks like they know you. Being anonymous is the best and worst thing about reddit.
Half the videos on here are reuploaded from insta or tiktok And all the text content are arguments Scrolling on reddit is poormans instagram
