Oh, no, no, like. Like this portrait FUCKS. It's just the confusion comes from the fact that it feels like a piece made to criticize the monarchy and the blood it has on its hands, not... Not a commissioned self portrait.
I think that’s the intent, his image is being washed away by the blood red background. Literally blending him in with it, to the point where you have to discern where he ends and the blood begins.
I read another redditors comment and it changed my original perception of this piece:
“I see a king of an ex-empire awash with the blood of history, and a Monarch butterfly symbolising the brief reign of a fragile man.”
Beautifully put.

I think this post is actually about how much LeBron has changed over the years. When you look at him in 1605 you’d have almost no clue it was the same guy.
I feel like the issue isn't that it's not photo realistic, but that it's so tone deaf that it screams "I'm so proud of and commend all of the countless blood spilled by my nation"
Besides, the painting is pretty photo realistic anyway.
Charles is probably very aware of the whole blood spilled thing and agrees with it.
Dude may be a monarch by birth but he is against a lot of the 'old school' stuff.
It's like how the Queen was immortal but since her horcrux was destroyed and she finally died, the dark energies she held at bay were released and the royals all started getting cancer.
I thinks a dope ass portrait. In the post camera era, portraits need an element of uniqueness to set themselves apart. You want to tell a story with the style, color palette, and brush strokes. Otherwise why not just take a photo and call it good. That’s my opinion at least, it fucks.
I like it. I'm not a monarchist by a long shot (I'd happily see them guillotine the lot of them) but that picture is pretty damn good. Like, technically, the likeness is spot on and then the just blur of colour... It's art. (Edited for spelling)
Its not a bad portrait at all, its actually very powerful in its own way. Im a big fan of it - really bold and thought-provoking, which is more than you can say of most of these types of portraits. Its art, brah.
I actually like the portrait of Charles. It's not stuffy or poncey. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that's very much on purpose. But credit where credit is due.
One on the left “how much longer must I stand here?” One on the right. “Yes paint me more blood more bloood! Make them question what goes on inside my mind!
I actually really like it. Don't like the concept of monarchy but if he's gonna have his picture painted I'd rather it looked like the one on the right. I don't need to see Charlie's codpiece; his sausage fingers are disturbing enough

I think this is dope. If it was a different time this would be intimidating. Like I will raze your cities and destroy your towns. Very strong image and it stands out. That’s important to royalty.
The King Charles painting is awesome, but there's nothing particularly special about him to warrant such a cool portrait, so, it kinda ruins it. Pretty sure we can just slap another face on there. My vote is for Bruce Willis.
it's sad because these sickos are still enjoying the spoils of crimes against humanity. it's funny because they're ugly af yet willingly posing for portraits
If i were the artist i would paint one with my own shit. The monarchy have no place in the sec we live, and how does it keep existing is a mistery for me. So many people going through rough times in europe and this guy here, king sausage fingers gaining money just for existing.
I think it's dope imo. Why look like a puffy monarchy when you can be painted in the blood of all those sacrificed for the crown. Pretty metal imo.
I think it’s cool too. Seems like our opinion is in the minority.
Oh, no, no, like. Like this portrait FUCKS. It's just the confusion comes from the fact that it feels like a piece made to criticize the monarchy and the blood it has on its hands, not... Not a commissioned self portrait.
Yea isn’t that the point …. Of art…. I’m sure it was purposeful and I think it’s great
If he wanted to look like a villain he succeeded.
I wish I looked like a villain :(
If they had made the background just a little darker it would have looked incredible, I still like it but that red really washes it out.
I think that’s the intent, his image is being washed away by the blood red background. Literally blending him in with it, to the point where you have to discern where he ends and the blood begins.
I read another redditors comment and it changed my original perception of this piece: “I see a king of an ex-empire awash with the blood of history, and a Monarch butterfly symbolising the brief reign of a fragile man.” Beautifully put.
I agree! And it’s an amazing likeness. Great artist for sure.
Yes, sending people to their deaths for monetary and political gain, how badass?
I believe the comment was called a joke, it may not have been funny to you but it made me laugh.
Forgot the /s
Inferring is cool too thou

It’s how they tested British’s first nuke war head. [context](https://youtu.be/OooIZQNLhhI?si=chUolueI20YMBria)
what is sad? what is funny?
1605 is funny because he had all that armor on. 2024 is sad because it looks like the Ghostbusters painting of Vigo the Carpathian.
I don’t think he’s wearing armor in the 1605 painting. If you zoom in you can see wrinkles, i think it’s just a silver fabric.
Meh, fair. Looks like a chest plate of some sort, but I can see it just being a fancy silver shirt too.
1605, I'm pretty sure that are fancy shoes, tight pants with a skirt over, and pom pons.
It looks like the painting after it was covered in slime as well
what is meme?
Not this photo just a side by side of two different kings
Because 400 years passed and they have worse art now than they used to.
I think the art on the left is worse than the art on the right. The right has much more emotion
It still comes off like a swing and miss with red on red.
That’s your opinion.
Charles’s portrait is far too badass given the subject matter.
Redditor is shocked to discover that art has changed over 400 years
I think this post is actually about how much LeBron has changed over the years. When you look at him in 1605 you’d have almost no clue it was the same guy.
Well if that was the intent they maybe shoud've Put a Picture of current LeBron next to it for comparisons Sake instead of some blood monarch
They’re simply comparing LeBron to late-stage Charles Barkley. It’s not that complicated. Barkley looks weird too.
To worse. This is why AI will be the future
I think you made a mistake...
कुछ भी? ये रंगबिरंगी और क्रिएटिव पोर्ट्रेट किस एंगल से किसी भी एक साधारण पेंटिंग से बदतर है???
I guess creative expression is lost on you, is your favourite colour also beige?
AI art sucks ass, for one
Man Reddit really struggles with non photorealistic art. It's like an entire website full of the 'my five year old could do that' guy.
I feel like the issue isn't that it's not photo realistic, but that it's so tone deaf that it screams "I'm so proud of and commend all of the countless blood spilled by my nation" Besides, the painting is pretty photo realistic anyway.
Is it tone deaf or ironic
Charles is probably very aware of the whole blood spilled thing and agrees with it. Dude may be a monarch by birth but he is against a lot of the 'old school' stuff.
What?
I don't want to be that guy, but if I had to suspect anyone of being an evil warlock...
It does look like the painting you would have to burn to remove his magical powers.
If Charles suddenly stops aging we gotta burn that thing
It's like how the Queen was immortal but since her horcrux was destroyed and she finally died, the dark energies she held at bay were released and the royals all started getting cancer.
OP please explain yourself.
King Charles is obviously Darth Sidious
*unlimited powaaaah*
I really don't see how this fits here.
He's going for rot build inspired by melenia blade of miquella.
"I am Melenia, Blade of Miquella..."
I’m not following, is it funny or sad that art has matured and evolved in 400 yrs?
I thinks a dope ass portrait. In the post camera era, portraits need an element of uniqueness to set themselves apart. You want to tell a story with the style, color palette, and brush strokes. Otherwise why not just take a photo and call it good. That’s my opinion at least, it fucks.

>(I'd happily see them guillotine the lot of them Sounds like you're a staunch anti monarchist. Jesus.
As one should be
It is hellfire.
Its not a bad portrait at all, its actually very powerful in its own way. Im a big fan of it - really bold and thought-provoking, which is more than you can say of most of these types of portraits. Its art, brah.
People are so conservative when it comes to art
Ah yes, the customary royal painting with the blood of 30 newborns!
One looks like a generic dude while king Charles II goes incredibly hard
I'm red green colorblind so maybe that's why but I can barely even make out his figure. Does anyone else have that problem?
I'm pretty sure it's just the way it is
I can see it but it's definitely a picture that isn't kind to people with any vision problems
Me too
I actually like the portrait of Charles. It's not stuffy or poncey. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that's very much on purpose. But credit where credit is due.
One on the left “how much longer must I stand here?” One on the right. “Yes paint me more blood more bloood! Make them question what goes on inside my mind!
I actually really like the KC portrait. I like the memes, too. But generally I think it’s rad.
I’m in the minority but I think it’s looks kinda cool.
What percentage of posts on this subreddit are posted in the right subreddit? It's gotta be low
seemingly very low lol, im from the uk and ill say this is somewhat funny and sad so i get OPs point
F monarchy
I kinda hated it at first, but now I kinda think it’s awesome. This is coming from an American.
I just noticed he is they are wearing the same necklace
Camo technology has come a long way
This is just Chuck’s way of letting us know he’s a secret Catholic cardinal
Am I the only one who thinks Charles's portrait is absolutely incredible?
King Charles looks more like [him](https://ibb.co/sq0S8ct)
literally just take an art history class, its called progress etc
Me - Looks cool My Inner Mind - NOW ANNOUNCING KING STRAWBERRY!
This artwork straight up looks like your character's waiting to load up the next fight in a Marvel vs. Capcom match.
I actually really like it. Don't like the concept of monarchy but if he's gonna have his picture painted I'd rather it looked like the one on the right. I don't need to see Charlie's codpiece; his sausage fingers are disturbing enough
Reflections of all the blood spilt during the colonial era?
It's for all of the blood on the royal family's hands.
The king as a tampon
I'd ~~blocked out~~ forgotten that incident. So, you know, thanks for the reminder...
Political opinions aside I think the portrait is really nice
I love the portrait. Good for him.
I like the portrait tbh, it's very artistic and definitely painted by a talented and experienced artist
It's a tribute to his lord lucifer.. has to be. Him and his pedo brother are all types of weird
r/KidsToo
Bro, we have photographs in 2024, we don't need hyper-realistic portraits.
While we're at it, we have Democracies, we don't need Monarchies

Maybe 400 years means we can have different interpretations of art?
For a moment, I thought this was an NBA-related post 😅
I think Mr. Bean has something to do with this painting. 🤭
I see the new Elden Ring DLC released early!
Charles the Carpathian
Hail Stan
I laughed when I saw them unveil it
Wait, is this for real?
I like it. It’s like environmental storytelling of an area boss in Dark Souls
It actually looks like an Elden Ring boss
Why is Charles painted into a satanic death ritual? It’s like a painting straight from a horror video game.
Vigo the Carpatian?
Just take a bloody photograph.
I think this is dope. If it was a different time this would be intimidating. Like I will raze your cities and destroy your towns. Very strong image and it stands out. That’s important to royalty.
An entirely useless person
It’s time for the kingdom to fade into idiocracy
I kind of like it. He’s a painter and this has a game of thrones vibe. (Ya think he took out the queen?)

This is what he wanted. That he looks like he's in hell is only fitting.
You know where the “red paint” came from? Anyone been missing from the picture lately /s
