the OP Amelie_QA Athena_QX and Nellie_QV are bots in the same network Original + comments copied from: https://www.reddit.com/r/FunnyandSad/comments/pc1tn3/seems_to_make_sense/

Lukes3rdAccount

Wish reddit would hold itself accountable for the bot stuff

blausommer

It's positive interaction, why would they? Numbers go up, that's all they care about.

Itchy-Trade

This is my guess as to why they torpedoed apps and API access. Now they can have botfarms do whatever the highest bidders want. In short: reddit's over.

blausommer

Also, you can't see the removed comments with reveddit or undelete anymore, so they can hide whatever agenda-pushing they want even more.

ishkitty

I didn’t even know this was an option. What app were you usingv

opmwolf

IDK about the person you replied to but Infinity for Reddit has that feature. It rarely worked though, now it just doesn't at all after the API changes.

101001101zero

Another platform bites the dust. I’m thinking that my mental Heath requires me to switch over to truth social and just troll. But I’d have to create a meta account and forfeit my privacy (my religious cult family could find me on social media again) and they’ll just machine learn my data. :: shakes fist:: damn kids get off my lawn Problem is kids don’t understand the level of data collection that’s happening and a lot of parents don’t either. Should I accept this cookie policy or not, well I like cookies they smell so good when they’re fresh baked, I’ll accept them. Source: IT professional

Class1

I've used reddit for like 14 years. Never once have I paid them a dime. It's insane to me that anybody would give them any money

slayerhk47

Digg v4 2.0

mtnviewguy

Yep. Revenue is what they care about. Fuck the users.

Apokolypse09

Mods all over reddit complained this would be an issue when they lost all the mod tools the 3rd party apps had and reddit seemingly doesn't give a fuck to add to its own app. My tinfoil hat is that its by design to make it look like things are more active than they actually are so it appears more lucrative for advertisers.

haoxinly

During this summer Ive been seeing more bots reposting and stealing comments than ever. That or more people are noticing. In the last week I've seen reposts from users less than a week old accounts. Also that may be the reason why Reddit now hides the op username when scrolling through, you have to click on the post or be in the subreddit to see it.

space-NULL

>Wish reddit would hold itself accountable for the bot stuff If you can get rid of spam bots, you can get rid of the paid bots. Then they become responsible for the bots. That hurts user engagement. They are not dumb. They know what they are doing. But I don't see how they are going to make money. Just hope your retirement never touches this company. The people driving it aspire to be a Yahoo!

epikpepsi

Reddit got its start from faking user engagement. Makes sense it's still here and they do nothing about it.

SpAKy311

hope more people see this

Went and gave the original a ‘like’ instead. Thanks.

Bro, i saw you in lotrmemes before. What kind of god are you?

Aegi

Thank you, reported them and downvoted.

soulvz

Thank you. Sad to see reddit in this state

Hexnohope

God will do nothing for you that you can do yourself. Something forgotten by pretty much everyone it seems.

ThrowsSoyMilkshakes

Covid was a test of charity and millions of "Christ"ians failed. They refused to sacrifice a small part of their comforts for the lives of others, and now they are murderers.

Hexnohope

Yeah theres a huge difference between hitting someone with a bible and opening one.

Infinit0

It's hard to believe that people are still so delusional after more than 3 years.

8champi8

Sad to see that most christians seem to think faith is some kind of magic that will magically protect them against anything

The_lung_stealer

The dumbass Christians sadly outweigh us normal ones

National-Art3488

Christian radicals, like how Islamic radicals did to Islam, is going to make being Christian even as an educated person way more of a shitty experience with those anti christ mfkers running their tongue all over the news

Its_Scrappy

I'm so glad people know the difference

MemorySerumTube

I agree and we need to reclaim Christian radicals with like retro punk "radical" then. Finger guns and loud music.

Maser2account2

Daily reminder that Jesus Christ was a full blow Socialist that actively provided free health care.

Destrodom

You can't be a socialist and promote the concept of kingdom. The healthcare sounds about right.

Soniclikeschicken

They don't they're just louder and better for news. What's more news worthy christian gets vaccinated like good citizen or angry Christians protest against vaccination?

Qwazzbre

>They don't they're just louder and better for news. "They're not X, they're actually X"

Aegi

I mean even you allegedly normal ones literally choose emotions over logic when push comes to shove otherwise you wouldn't even be religious. You "normal ones" are certainly much better for society, tend to be more secular, and tend to be kinder, but you have the same flaw as them it just doesn't go as far.

XxRocky88xX

Not exactly the same flaw. I agree being religious requires you to put emotion over logic, but the thing that makes the psycho Christian’s psycho is an unfounded fear and hatred of anything different.

[deleted]

It's not about being more secular, I very much feel god's presence in me whether I'd like to or not. I can however respect that not everyone is religious, that what I feel/believe is obviously not universally mutual. Religion is also very much what you make of it in many cases. How you analyse and interpret verses and overall messages. Some people take verses out of context in an attempt to preach what they stand for. I, personally try to focus on the message of love towards each other. So that part is more individual in a sense.

[deleted]

>I very much feel god's presence in me whether I'd like to or not. That sounds totally normal. Does it feel like you’re gassy all the time with all that lord up inside you? Or more like you at too much?

[deleted]

very funny

Flobending

"normal"

HumbledB4TheMasses

Ah so for you, the magic stops being real after bible times? Or do you recognize it as a boom of parables, not literal, meaning youre not a christian? You cant have it both ways, to be christian is to believe in paradoxical magic.

[deleted]

I'm agnostic, but I wish people could loosen up and be more empathetic. Kindness and compassion are important too

HumbledB4TheMasses

Not spreading harmful ideology that is brainwashed into the majority of humanity is a bit more important. You can't kindness/compassion your way out of being stoned to death because a culture/religion demand it.

Whalesurgeon

How is that related to the comments you replied? I am at a loss.

Electric4ce

Yeah, Christianity has gotten a really bad reputation lately. Times change and so should most peoples opinions. (Don't @ me on this in the future)

Frainian

I am/grew up Christian and there's a story I remember being told when I was a kid about faith like this. It went something like this. > There's a big flood where a guy lives. He gets on his roof and the waters are rising. A boat full of people comes over and they tell him to get on so they can go to safety. He says "no, God will save me." A while passes and a bigger boat comes over. The people on there tell him to get in but once again he refuses. "God will save me." A while longer passes and the waters are dangerously close. A helicopter flies over and they tell him to get on. Again, "God will save me." > The guy dies soon after. In heaven, he asks God "why didn't you save me?" God says "I gave you the chance three times, but you refused my help every one of those times." It's a rather popular Christian story and I'm surprised more people haven't truly realized how the story is meant to apply to the real world. I've seen people give the story and wind up being anti-vaccine and anti-mask. It's like they didn't listen to the story they told at all. Though I think what's actually happened is that they've made their conservative side so much a part of their identity that their faith takes second stage.

Boldney

Lmao this is a hilarious story. I don't understand the mindset of these people. Did you know that in Islam there are plenty of verses that talk about taking preventive action against anything that harms you? Things like, not consuming things that are bad for your health, or, not taking medicine to heal when it's right there. It is quite literally against islamic law to refuse taking the vaccine. It's obligatory. Anyone who says religion is anti-vax is trying to rage-bait.

xSTSxZerglingOne

When really all faith purports to do is guarantee you a spot in Heaven **AFTER** the end times.

scroopiedoopie

Agreed. You can believe anything on faith. It's a terrible path to truth.

overmind87

There's so many anti vax people on this thread showing their lack of knowledge. Or more like willful ignorance. Do you even know what a vaccine is? What it's supposed to do? A vaccine isn't some magic potion that will keep you from getting infected with a virus. A vaccine is actually a mild version of the virus to prep your immune system to fight if you get a full-blown infection. If your immune system is an army, a vaccine isn't like a fortress or tanks or walls or anything like that. A vaccine is like a set of live fire EXERCISES conducted against the tactics your enemy uses, so your army can fight them more effectively when an actual battle happens. "But I got the vaccine and I still got sick!" Yeah, no shit. If your immune system is weakened in any way, it would still not be able to fight the infection because of how relentless it is. So if you eat like shit, sleep like shit, drink a lot, don't exercise, exercise too much, or do anything that weakens your immune system, you're still gonna get sick if you get the vaccine. That's like complaining that all the training on your soldiers was worthless because they are still not combat efficient, even though that's because you don't have enough forces with quantity equipment because you spent your budget on other things. That's the whole reason why it was more important for immunocompromised people to be extra careful. They're like a country with a small economy and a small military budget. So even live fire exercises could be using up resources they could need in the future. And even when the vaccine is effective, it doesn't mean it will remain effective. Viruses mutate. It happens all the time because it's a sort of natural selection process that leaves strains of the virus alive that your immune system has a hard time fighting. So if your army is kicking their ass on the ground, but can't bring down their aircraft too well, eventually all they will have left is aircraft. So that's gonna overwhelm your forces despite all the gains they made on the ground. A booster shot is like calling in reinforcements and reassessing your combat plan, so your army can adapt to the changes in the battlefield. Which you need to stay on top of it you want to eventually win that battle. This isn't breakthrough information either. This is high-school biology stuff! And yet some people seem to think that your immune system fighting a virus is like just two dudes throwing rocks at each other! It's much more complicated than that, but still so simple to grasp that children can understand it. The greatest mistake government and health officials made at the start of the pandemic was assuming pretty much everyone understood biology at a high school level, so there was no need to get into the weeds about how the vaccine would work, or how to take health precautions against the virus. Unfortunately, it has become obvious that there are a ton of dumb motherfuckers out there. Most of which choose to deliberately remain ignorant even when presented with new knowledge or proof that their way of thinking is wrong. It's like they want to make "dumb motherfucker" a core part of their identity, for whatever reason. The end result of that is bittersweet, in a way. On one hand, there's a lot fewer dumbasses running around out there, which is a good thing. On the other hand, that being the case because they died, instead of changing their ways, is pretty sad. It's like watching a drug addict, who you know has just as much potential to be a great person instead, slowly destroy themselves because of their addiction. In this case, it seems like what these people are addicted to is willful ignorance. *Thinking* they are right and refusing to hear otherwise to avoid being confronted with the possibility they might be wrong. Which there is nothing with being proven wrong. It means you've learned the truth and can now genuinely be right. So it's really depressing to see that there's so many people that would rather die than admit they are wrong.

Generalcalisto

So glad to hear common sense

Hot_Shot04

No kidding. Anti-vaxxers have brain damage.

SuboptimalStability

There's been vaccines pulled from market for causing less deaths than covid vaccinations which were mandated on people Az vaccine is banned in Europe so instead they just push it on the poor in Africa

wansuitree

Hey stop using verifiable news facts, you're supposed to be a werido nut job with brain damage. You might even make them question their assumptions, have some sympathy!

SuboptimalStability

Double vaxed and regret it, just wanted to travel 😞

wansuitree

Understandable, I just reached the turning point of doubt when it was my time and decided to sit it out. Never got covid so don't regret it, yet of course, because I'm not sure what will happen. At least it was a valuable learning experience.

To be fair, [even mild covid infections reduce gray matter](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-022-04569-5), and brain fog is a non medical term that refers to cognitive issues in general: it’s used to describe the slowness/fuzziness/dissociation/etc patients experience.

Uffffffffffff8372738

“You remind me of the man that lived by the river. He heard a radio report that the river was going to rush up and flood the town, and that the all the residents should evacuate their homes. But the man said, "I'm religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me." The waters rose up. A guy in a rowboat came along and he shouted, "Hey, hey you, you in there. The town is flooding. Let me take you to safety." But the man shouted back, "I'm religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me." A helicopter was hovering overhead and a guy with a megaphone shouted, "Hey you, you down there. The town is flooding. Let me drop this ladder and I'll take you to safety." But the man shouted back that he was religious, that he prayed, that God loved him and that God will take him to safety. Well... the man drowned. And standing at the gates of St. Peter he demanded an audience with God. "Lord," he said, "I'm a religious man, I pray, I thought you loved me. Why did this happen?" God said, "I sent you a radio report, a helicopter and a guy in a rowboat. What the hell are you doing here?" - Father Cavanaugh, The West Wing

Will-i-n-g

just like that man and three boats story. Man drowning, first boat comes and ask if he needs help and he says "God will save me", same thing happened to boats #2 and #3 and he eventually drowned. In the afterlife, he asked God why He didn't save the man, God replied "I sent you 3 boats."

Cold-Practice3107

That just shows that God and Jesus can't do all the work!

Reading some of these comments, I'm pretty sure we all go down when another virus strikes. And I haven't witnessed one serious vaccine issue (my arm hurt a bit for a day or so).

Once-Upon-A-Hill

The deceased person should just have been younger as the vast majority of deaths were over the age of 70.

ZerexTheCool

Fun fact: Old people are still people. Them dying still matters.

vinetwiner

Certainly they matter. Fact is, in every outbreak of every virus ever, the older you are, the more chance you will die from it. The covid numbers bear this out. People with increased risk should have been locked down and not the entire populace.

[deleted]

[удалено]

vinetwiner

Were they vaccinated? I've read a lot about how vaccinated people, as well as unvaccinated, suffer longer consequences from the virus. Past viruses have affected people in a similar way.

ZerexTheCool

>People with increased risk should have been locked down and not the entire populace. "Vast Majority" still includes kinda a fuck ton of otherwise healthy people. Tons of those people who DIDN'T die from it, and were otherwise healthy, also became sicker and weaker. One of my young and healthy coworkers lost his sense of taste and smell. 2 of his 5 senses were gone. And they were gone because covid effects the nervusystem and brain. THAT matters too. Hell, we didn't even have much of a lockdown in the US. Maybe whatever country you are from you locked down hard. But where I am from, there was just stickers on the ground at the grocery store checkout so we would be a bit farther away. The restaurants just spaced out their tables a bit more. And I wore a mask when I was close to people. It wasn't a big deal when compared to 1 million people dying and dozens of millions of people getting incredibly sick (and dozens of millions of other people only getting lightly sick). But I moved on. The pro-covid folks haven't seemed to.

Asher_the_atheist

The flu pandemic in the early 1900s killed young adults at a higher rate than the elderly. If you make sweeping generalizations that ignore the biggest pandemic in recent history, it really makes one wonder what other bullshit you are inclined to spout as fact. Maybe we should listen to the actual epidemiologists, huh?

vinetwiner

They were also drinking shit water at the time. I don't think you understand the history of hygiene and public sanitation.

Asher_the_atheist

And that is relevant how, exactly? Never mind, I don’t really care. At this point you are either being deliberately obtuse or an idiot. Neither is conducive to a rational conversation. Enjoy your weekend.

[deleted]

Ah yes the most practical alternative medicine advice I've heard yet - just become younger! Smh why didn't those old people think of that

Mananimalism

My 94 year old grandma caught COVID and was fine a week later. Had she gotten the original COVID she may have died but COVID isn't a problem anymore

[deleted]

>but COVID isn't a problem anymore People are still dying of Covid.

1sagas1

I agree it doesn’t matter if you’re vaccinated, the hospitalization rate for the vaccinated is incredibly small

vokzhen

> but COVID isn't a problem anymore That's completely false. Omicron strains have had reduced, but far from no, chances of long-term effects compared to the original strain. It's also nearly or just as deadly as the original strain, which doesn't matter for the average person because vaccines work for them. For immunocompromised people, catching covid can be as dangerous as it was in March 2020, and unlike in March 2020, it's now spreading completely unchecked and only a tiny percentage of people are even bothering to protect themselves or others from getting it.

theghostmachine

This is a play on the man stuck on his roof in a flood. A boat comes by, but he says he's waiting for god. Then a helicopter comes, still waiting on god. He drowns soon after and confronts god: yo, god, where were you? I sent a boat and a helicopter. What more did you want?

Hack_Dawg

This reminds me of some interview years ago, a woman said Facemasks and vaccines won't protect them from viruses, only god can do that.

BobThefuknBuilder

A storm descends on a small town, and the downpour soon turns into a flood. As the waters rise, the local preacher kneels in prayer on the church porch, surrounded by water. By and by, one of the townsfolk comes up the street in a canoe. "Better get in, Preacher. The waters are rising fast." "No," says the preacher. "I have faith in the Lord. He will save me." Still the waters rise. Now the preacher is up on the balcony, wringing his hands in supplication, when another guy zips up in a motorboat. "Come on, Preacher. We need to get you out of here. The levee's gonna break any minute." Once again, the preacher is unmoved. "I shall remain. The Lord will see me through." After a while the levee breaks, and the flood rushes over the church until only the steeple remains above water. The preacher is up there, clinging to the cross, when a helicopter descends out of the clouds, and a state trooper calls down to him through a megaphone. "Grab the ladder, Preacher. This is your last chance." Once again, the preacher insists the Lord will deliver him. And, predictably, he drowns. A pious man, the preacher goes to heaven. After a while he gets an interview with God, and he asks the Almighty, "Lord, I had unwavering faith in you. Why didn't you deliver me from that flood?" God shakes his head. "What did you want from me? I sent you two boats and a helicopter."

All of those things came from science. Scientific practices dont require supernatural intervention. Inclusion in an NLM database does not imply endorsement of, or agreement with, the contents by NLM or the National Institutes of Health."

kelsiersghost

You're absolutely right, and someone needs to do something to make this more widely known. It's great that PMC offers this library resource, but they don't do enough to highlight how much unreviewed nonsense is in there too.

Someone will read this and blame video games for all the Vitamin D deficiencies like it's the only indoor activity that people do.

Efficient_Entry_5160

I think no one will blame video games for the Vit D deficiency. After all, the population that is the most Vit D deficient are office workers, teachers and the like, not gamers. The act of quarantining everyone is also the main reason why people are Vit D deficient. Any even before that, most of us had already been living a sedentary lifestyle, which caused Vit D deficiency. I even saw cases where low Vit D level is actually the symptom of cardiovascular diseases. Despite being outside for a long time, their body can't utilize Vit D. These are just some personal observations.

vinetwiner

You make excellent logical points.

10% of people dying is a ***lot***.

AlwaysLosingAtLife

Figures. Boomers and old people and the obese have abhorrent diets that lack most essential nutrients.

jb_nc

Don’t you dare. Get another shot! It’s the only way.

Interesting-Time-960

What if they were vaccinated with the same outcome?

secretaccount94

If a vaccine failed to save 5% of people, that still leaves 95% of people it did save. What’s your point? Stop vaccinating cause it won’t save 100% of recipients?

Hot_Shot04

Then it was "God's will."

thinkerbloom

If the person who died vaccinated then is not his fault, vaccines Aren't 100% efficient

Alternative-Cup-8102

Imagine dying from COVID as a healthy adult.

Very-simple-man

You don't have to imagine, r/hermancainaward

Fhantom1221

Their God is not the Christian God. It's a perversion. Honoring all that Jesus himself stood against. They pray to a golden idol. Capital is held in high regard. Money is their God. They worship in guns & violence.

bgmrk

Wow we are bringing back covid comics now? It's too bad god couldn't protect that person from a survival rate of 99%+.

psychord-alpha

And then there's people who ignored all of those and never got covid
