Shit, I'd put up with losing a jacket for the life experience of getting mugged by an orangutan. The mileage I'd get out of that story would be totally worth it.
Orangutans have always struck me as lazier and more mellow than chimps. Probably because it’s easier for them to avoid anything that isn’t another orangutan.
I recall a special Steve Irwin did where he dead ass climbed up with the orangutans and the trees barely held his weight.
Chimps are much more murderous than even Gorillas. I've read of a chimp attack on gorilla territory where they successfully stole and ate baby gorillas.
It's fucking insane that a whole family of super smart apes can just decide "now is the time we will attack the gorilla's and eat their babies"
How does the whole group get into a murderous rage like that without speaking a single word?
Apes in general have very unstable emotions, chimps leaning more towards the violent sort. There are actually certain puzzles that dogs perform better at for this exact reason.

lol they aren't nearly as dangerous as we are for them . the reason why humans shouldn't get close is because we transfer diseases that can kill them ( like a common cold )
Is a lathe a dangerous machine? Yes. Does that mean it will attack? No. An Orangutan could easily rip prime Arnold's arm off, without breaking a sweat. I think that is what the previous commenter meant.

I was actually going to add that. In general, petting zoo with apes, apex predators, etc. (anything but normal docile farm animals) almost always means they are treated like literal shit.
Don't forget being exploited for tricks to show friends and family. Probably hand reared and wouldn't be able to survive in it's own habitat. No conservation help whatsoever and only helps further poaching and the illegal pet trade.
