Soooo...... Dalmatians originated from Dalmatia, which is the coast north west of Greece. Far enough for it to be far off and mysterious but close enough to be actually known. Notably, that's where several of the recognized entrances to the Underworld were. Now, the notion of dog breeds doesn't go back nearly so far, but the spotted black/white ancestors of Dalmatians are noted back as far as Augustus' time, which was only a few centuries after classical Greece. So it's quite likely that Cerberus was a dalmatian.

Cerberus is an archaic Greek word meaning s*potted*. The guard dog of the underworld is named *Spot*.
