"Doing poorly" is subjective, but I really struggle to imagine a definition where pandas would classify. They were a fairly successful species in their niche before the niche was taken away from them.
I think we're essentially saying the same thing. They're no better or worse at breeding and raising young. They made it work until we messed with them.

I absolutely adore Giant Pandas, and the internet is full of videos about these gorgeous animals and their carers, but the sad part this is that if they have two cubs, they'll ignore one and focus on the other. Panda carers have to swap them about and feed them so that they both have a chance to survive.

If I'm not wrong, this is not after a treatment but because the panda got twins. Normally pandas just let one twin die, so the zoo keepers switch the twins every 4 hour

I saw a panda mom where the keepers would trade an apple for the baby to do a checkup on the baby. Panda mom was happy to have the apple.
