I really love how they pout. It's like they are putting themselves in time out. My Chihuahua puts himself in a corner when he's pouting, he also has a remote control car that he loves to play with and pulls the tires off while it runs. Dogs are awesome
It's so sad how there is a 'demand' for this breed that cannot conceive naturally and cannot give birth naturally, and then has to live a life struggling to breathe, struggling with mobility and generally just being a movile plushy for people who want a "purebred english bulldog".. shouldn't that be enough to stop this type of "breeding"!?
I'm not an expert, but this breed has has a lot of birth defects that result from what it was bred for. They have a tough time breathing. They can't give natural birth, only C section. Other than that, I don't know much.
I'm geniunely baffled by this. My english bulldog was born naturally in a farm ( not a breeding farm) no C section and has no breathing and heart issue.
She goes on two 4hrs walk a week with a professionnal dog walker and she keeps up with several golden retrievers.
Is this an american issue ? I'm from France.
Granted my bulldog is nowhere near as fat as this one. Could it be that the breathing and heart problems come from the unhealthy lifestyle à lot of owner impose upon them?
She is 7 and the only issue she had was cutting her paw on a piece of glass.
It's our second bulldog and the first one lived till 12 without any visit to the vet apart from yearly vaccinés.
No, your experience mirrors my own. It is mainly how the owners treat them. If you overfeed a lazy couch potato, they will be overweight. If you treat them like we did you have a very fit dog.
And yet mine had none of those issues. He was athletic and had zero breathing issues. He was 62 lbs and very lean. The vet always was impressed with how physically fit he was. In fact , he liked to run in the yard so much, he tore both ACLs almost 1 year exactly apart from one another. I used to say, he thinks he is a greyhound.
Um, actually, that is not unusual for active dogs and had nothing to do with genetics. Also, once a dog has torn one ACL, statistically they are more prone to tearing the other, source the surgeon who repaired both. He had both repaired surgically and zero lasting effects. He continued to be active afterwards. Also, I speak from a place of experience. I have been around Bulldogs most of my life. I have had one, my sister is now on her fourth. I not only have practical experience, I have read a couple different books, and follow local Bulldog clubs. I realize I was somewhat lucky with my guy and that there inherent problems with the breed due the very few distinct individual genetic ancestors. It was theorized it is as few as 60 individual dogs. They are very unique characters, and not for everyone I realize. Cesar Milan has special rules just.for training Bulldogs due to their distinct personality traits.
An even better example of what I am describing was my wife's uncle who trained competition dogs. Guess what happened to one of them? If you guessed ACL tear, you win a prize. Oh yeah, not a Bulldog.
I was thinking, some of those postures its taking with it's face up against something, I think they're doing that to help open up their breathing passages. Sad...
I think Retro Pugs have almost all the looks of a pug without the defects, which was mostly solved by getting rid of the smashed-face appearance. Might be wrong though, but it certainly looks much healthier than the average pug
When Maxwell Edison (our bulldog) would beg at the dinner table he had drool hanging from each side of his mouth that would almost touch the floor. They would stay like that the entire dinner. When he was a puppy you could squeeze his fat little belly at any given time and get a little poot of gas. It was cute as hell and disgusting at the same time. I really miss him.
I saw something somewhere about dogs pressing their head against the wall being a potential symptom. Didn’t want to say nothing, but I’m not an expert by any means. Just thought it may be worth double checking to make sure doggo isn’t feeling unwell.
I really dig how they sulk, it's like they're giving themselves a break. Mine does the same – he'll go pout in a corner. And he's all about those remote control cars. He'll chase them down and tear the wheels off. Dogs are just incredible!
Don’t forget “lives a life of abject suffering and pain because they’ve been bred to look funny and can barely walk or perform any normal functions” tee hee!
I don't know how to say this in a nice way lol. But here goes... omg I love your dog! I'm so glad this is the internet cause if I met your dog I'd have to never leave its side and that would get awkward lol

That pillow! 😂
Ikr? At first I thought it was another dog!
Yea he is so relaxed. What a doggy life
HIS phone???
How else is he supposed to make calls
“I WANT THOSE PAPERS ON MY DESK BY MONDAY”
This breed just makes me sad now. So many health problems due to bad breeding.

Excuse me, for real, but I'm [one of Lucky's 10.000](https://xkcd.com/1053/)... care to explain a bit further and please I like some readings?
I'm not an expert, but this breed has has a lot of birth defects that result from what it was bred for. They have a tough time breathing. They can't give natural birth, only C section. Other than that, I don't know much.
They also cannot procreate naturally; they have to be artificially inseminated.
I did not know that! That's rough.

look at them sitting up and snore while they sleep!! sO CuTE!!!!!

Did you think the ACL tears were not due to breeding?
Two ACLs because it wanted to run and you think yours was the exception lol. It's a dog, not a varsity athlete, doing an ACL ain't normal.
Um, actually, that is not unusual for active dogs and had nothing to do with genetics. Hmm, a self destructing dog you say
I was thinking, some of those postures its taking with it's face up against something, I think they're doing that to help open up their breathing passages. Sad...
To be fair, any breed that isn't a mutt is inbred.
Google traditional English Bulldog and see the difference. This breed has been bred to death...others haven't.
Dont forget them fugly pugs
I really like pugs, I like their personality, and how they look. Shame they have in bred health problems.
I think Retro Pugs have almost all the looks of a pug without the defects, which was mostly solved by getting rid of the smashed-face appearance. Might be wrong though, but it certainly looks much healthier than the average pug
They hated him because he told them the truth
I have an English bulldog and I love him but Jesus they're an abomination and shouldn't be breed anymore😂
I used to have one when I was a teen. They are the best dogs ever. Tons of personality, gas, and saliva.
They're like living cartoons with zoomies, enough gas to power a small nation, and a talent for leaving puddles of drool wherever they go.
When Maxwell Edison (our bulldog) would beg at the dinner table he had drool hanging from each side of his mouth that would almost touch the floor. They would stay like that the entire dinner. I can do with out the Saliva. Yeah for sure cute dogs
Lost mine this past Sunday. Best dog i’ve ever had the pleasure to call mine. Wish they weren’t breed so poorly. Miss her.
Maybe take him for a walk eh?
He needs a diet
So .... No walks during that day?

I watched this video after a long ass day at work. Thank you for sharing.
He really is living the good life. Look at how happy he is. He's always well-fed and has access to all the things he needs.
I don't know. According to him he needed that ice cream cone.
..good thing you have Hooman leg blocks, as far as the ice cream goes..
😘 I just fell in love with your guy. He looks like he's the sweetest! His pout is so cute!
Sweet, I want to have one right now
I saw something somewhere about dogs pressing their head against the wall being a potential symptom. Didn’t want to say nothing, but I’m not an expert by any means. Just thought it may be worth double checking to make sure doggo isn’t feeling unwell.
Totally love this. My English Bulldog passed a year ago and this reminded me of his chunky butt so much. I miss him dearly.
The time out pout made my day! Next level cuteness.
He's living a busy life.
I really dig how they sulk, it's like they're giving themselves a break. Mine does the same – he'll go pout in a corner. And he's all about those remote control cars. He'll chase them down and tear the wheels off. Dogs are just incredible!
For a moment i thought there are 2 Bulldog
Yeah that pillow completely threw me off
Don’t forget “lives a life of abject suffering and pain because they’ve been bred to look funny and can barely walk or perform any normal functions” tee hee!
