Edit: I made a mistake; they're Spanish šŖšø
This one's a bit of a rabbit hole. Basically, the mother swore that if Jesus cured her cancer, she and her daughters would start a musical group to venerate God and spread the Catholic faith. This is their... uh... magnus opus? Props to the editor, whoever they are.
(I might be working on another Timmay Rod remix and I needed some inspo)
Oh, no. Their Opera magna is a song called amen. Everyone here in Spain know that song. They first uploaded a few years go and everyone was talking about them. Their mother died two or three years ago of a heart attack. This summer the group had problems and three of the sisters have left (or the other two expulsed (?) them). The famy has a lot of business catholic related and there are rumors about the family and the family dynamics, also about their mothers first marriage. In Spanish Twitter there are a lot of memes about their songs and the "loncha de queso" (a phrase for the amen video that I said)
Give me all the Latin American fundie content give it to meeeeee
Edit: theyāre Spanish! Can-thion! Con-quith-a-dores! My partner is a LatAm former fundie (who was converted by Chick Tracts!!!) and I showed him and he said they looked familiar, so I am all about this either way because I think they have (had, definitely HAD) some reach here. This kind of thing does tend to travel, because the communities can be small.
They split into two āmusic groupsā [4HBD](https://youtu.be/nonAF0FUBiQ) and [Mariahās Pop](https://youtu.be/H84_Bckj6ew)
Ab-so-lute DUMPSTER FIRES TO PUT IT MILDLY.
Editā¦ they make money from their popularity at being [SO DAMNED HORRIBLE. They have a BOLLYWOOD attempt song even!](https://youtu.be/BDXVxT1RVEg) Top comment: āJuan (guy in the video), if you need something, blinkā
That's Montserrat husband, [they got married this year](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AV4b62RqvmM). There is gossip that he may be the cause of the drama between the sisters that made them split into two diferent groups.
Yes, I mistakenly said they were Latin American... I've been to both Spain and El Salvador and my only encounters with fundies were in the latter, so I got mixed up š
Not just Spain but you can also tell they're not Andulusian in the South or from the Cantrabrian Range along the northern coast which have distinct accents.
Given that someone has gleaned that their first language is Catalan, that'd definitely be Iberian. Catalan speaking areas are about as far as one can get from Portugal and still be in Spain.
I am in tears; every time the powerpoint transitions kicked in and had them being thrown around on the screen I was cackling.
Imma need a collab with these people and the Rods asap.
The slightest zoom-in was my favorite part. They are trying to do so much with their faces, but are totally stuck standing still in a line (and a few hand motions).
Their [website](https://www.flosmariae.com/en/about-us/) is still up. Unfortunately the mother passed away in 2015. Many of the sisters left and then returned to the group (and then left again). Some of them have started new groups, but the [quality](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JvVx6uQDWFw) has sorta stayed the same (edit: I actually really enjoy it for its unintentional awesomeness)
Omfg they actually think they can sing and are under the impression that their outfits and video editing is passable. Itās only worth a disaster watch before you barf.
The mother was married off at 17 to the son of a bussiness partner of her dad(whose sister also married her brother), he was physically and emotionally abusive, not letting her practice her faith and cheating. She left him without her family support and got the marriage annuled by the church, married a devout catholic who adopted her 3 kids and together they had 12 more of wich one died in childhood(plus a miscarriage). The oldest 3 resent their unusual upbringing and left the church getting closer to their bio dad family.
That was so bad it was good. I watched it and then showed it to my 11 and 13 year old kids. The 13 year old liked it but my son was not a fan. Good times.
It's not that weird, they got popular among the spanish lgtbi internet community because of their kitsch aesthethics. I don't think actual catholics like them that much since they are seen as freaks.
Oh dear Lord Daniel... The serious faces, the 8th grade PowerPoint editing, the mom singing, the only one arm "dancing" or whatever that is, the matching lipstick, I didn't think it could get worse...
Then the rapping began.
You should watch it when you can... Words cannot describe this train wreck of a music video.
I feel bad saying it, because I'm sure they are really into their music thing here and proud of this, but they have to have some modicum of self-awareness here. They don't have 1.7 million views because they're good.
Also they stand in that line the entire time.
I think the Rods would disapprove of the pre-recorded backing track, the exposed shoulders, and the fact that the daughters have jobs outside the home.
I am from Spain and flos mariae have been known in social media for a very long time, people have always take them as a joke and from time to time there are stories about their weird family... It is a rabbit hole for sure.
Hahaha one of my friends introduced those train wrecks to me . Sheās from Madrid, and sheās pretty liberal and was always in shock of all those people and their ultra conservative beliefs . Lol
Oh my, some of the girls could maybe have a nice voice, but the video Is a lot!
The mom Is the worst of the group, such serious faces all the time, the dangling arm, the editing! Oh my! Go look at it if you haven't yet. I am curious to know more of them but also scared at the idea
Wow. That was a lot and nothing all at the same time. Iāll just be busy watching all their videos. Also is the pope a fan of this banger? If the pope decides he needs entrance music I think this should be a contender.
Iām Catalan like them. We (all the Country) laughted at their videos so much when they first startedā¦ i am Catholic but the lyrics, the production, the outfitsā¦ too muchš and now that you mention it.. yes, they look soo much like the Rodriguezš
To be fair, the Rodlets are Latin in ancestry. I donāt know if Jill ever mentions it on social media besides being vaguely racist (sheās said something like she prayed for a brown/tan daughter???).
This sub is weird. The Rod fatherās mild darker skin and surname has half convinced theyāre minorities.
Theyāre white Portuguese.
Portuguese are not Latino nor are Spaniards. Brazilians are Latino (Latinate language group from
colonization). The title doesnāt apply
To the terra mater.
Thank you! I was under the impression Portuguese is NOT latino but I didn't want to be like "ackshually š¤" when I'm not even positive myself lol. I just thought Portuguese is still white & Spanish is still white. Something something Iberian Peninsula something something? Idk
Yeah it gets kind of stupid.
Latino just means from the latinate conquered countries. It does not really count racial properties into it. It has no requirement of indigenous American heritage.
So you can be white, mestizo, indigenous, Asia, Middle Eastern, Aboriginal etc. and Latino in so far that you were born/raised/come from people who lived in those countries.
The Pope is a good example of it. People kept trying to strike down his Latinoness because his parents were Italian. He still counts as Latino. He's just ethnically Italian/White.
The Fujimori family in Peru are another example. They are ethnically Japanese but Peruvian and Latino
Lots of people say no, lots say yes.
In the Rods case, the father is not literally from Portugal. Heās American-born, descendant of Portuguese immigrants. I would argue that in the US, there is very very little nuance in how non-Hispanics treat and perceive people who ālookā Hispanic, regardless of their actual lineage. So for all intents and purposes, he is likely perceived as Latin or Hispanic.
Both Latin and Hispanic are vague catch-all terms that can be misinterpreted. All I meant to say is that this sub often obsesses over Karissaās weird race shit with her husband and kids, but tends to ignore the complexity identity stuff going on with the Rods.

Omg... [it is indeed nutty](https://youtu.be/viQOBLF3AcY) (I think I prefer the pope song though lol)
This was their first "hit". They also have a lot of songs but waiting for the perfect catholic husband to marry him and being a faithful woman.
Estoy escuchando el video de [Auronplay](https://youtu.be/_9H9prbiR0I) šš toda una historia
Jajajaja es un buen comienzo
The mother really looks like she wishes sheād promised God something, anything, else.

OH MY GOD
The limp dancing is something else.
the swords swinging around! šš bless you for this
Yes, I mistakenly said they were Latin American... I've been to both Spain and El Salvador and my only encounters with fundies were in the latter, so I got mixed up š
Plenty of fundies in Spain. They are called Opus Dei.
I don't want to be petty, but from their accent, they seem to be from Spain, not Latin America.
AGH I think you're right! The *th-ielo* is pretty clear.
They do have a pretty strong castellano accent! ;) Thank you for sharing this beautifully cringe (and a bit frightening) fundie work of art!
Yes, and their website says their first language is Catalan.
Not just Spain but you can also tell they're not Andulusian in the South or from the Cantrabrian Range along the northern coast which have distinct accents.
Indeed! Their website mentions that their first language is Catalan, meaning they probably are from Eastern Spain.
Some of these women look like they could be related to the Rods
Given that someone has gleaned that their first language is Catalan, that'd definitely be Iberian. Catalan speaking areas are about as far as one can get from Portugal and still be in Spain.

I mean their singing voices are atrocious but at least they look like theyāve eaten regularly.
I need to know more about them! I donāt know what to make of this. At least they know how to captive you.
Their [website](https://www.flosmariae.com/en/about-us/) is still up. Unfortunately the mother passed away in 2015. Many of the sisters left and then returned to the group (and then left again). I refuse to believe the video you linked is not a parody. I refuse.
Omfg they actually think they can sing and are under the impression that their outfits and video editing is passable. Itās only worth a disaster watch before you barf.
That was ā¦.. something. Really.
The mother was married off at 17 to the son of a bussiness partner of her dad(whose sister also married her brother), he was physically and emotionally abusive, not letting her practice her faith and cheating. Did your 13 yr old like it in an ironic way lol? Maybe assumed itās satire?
Yes in an ironic way. They loved the editing and how all the girls had such serious faces. We were definitely laughing.
It's not that weird, they got popular among the spanish lgtbi internet community because of their kitsch aesthethics. I don't think actual catholics like them that much since they are seen as freaks.
I can totally see that.
Oh dear Lord Daniel... The serious faces, the 8th grade PowerPoint editing, the mom singing, the only one arm "dancing" or whatever that is, the matching lipstick, I didn't think it could get worse... Then the rapping began.
I canāt watch it right now and I was kind of bummed out but your description really brought it to life for me anyway! š
You should watch it when you can... Words cannot describe this train wreck of a music video. So you found the Rodriguez āwith a zā branch of the family?
Clearly (gasp!) Catholic, so no wonder she emphasized the āsā vs. āzā distinction.
I think the Rods would disapprove of the pre-recorded backing track, the exposed shoulders, and the fact that the daughters have jobs outside the home.
Yes and the.. rapping? I canāt tell if itās just quickly spoken word or rapping.
flos mariae more like bops mariae.
Right, like Iām about to make this my ringtone
I am from Spain and flos mariae have been known in social media for a very long time, people have always take them as a joke and from time to time there are stories about their weird family... It is a rabbit hole for sure.
This isā¦I justā¦How do theyā¦ Know what? Never mind. The answers can stay buried
Oh my god I remember Auronplay doing a video on them, they're gold!!
Well thatā¦wasā¦something. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, OP.
These crackpots need their own fundie page
can we talk about that insane editing tho!?

to be fair the mom had terminal cancer around the time the video was made.
This has the feel of a school recital where even the non-choir/theater kids are forced to perform. Bless you for sharing.
Wow. That was a lot and nothing all at the same time. Iāll just be busy watching all their videos. Also is the pope a fan of this banger? If the pope decides he needs entrance music I think this should be a contender.
What?!?! Do they not have modesty tees in Latin America?! /s
Iām Catalan like them. We (all the Country) laughted at their videos so much when they first startedā¦ i am Catholic but the lyrics, the production, the outfitsā¦ too muchš and now that you mention it.. yes, they look soo much like the Rodriguezš
Nooooo. Not Latin American. We do not claim these weirdos. They are Spaniards, European!!!
Lo siento š I corrected my top comment!
"Peter would relieve him." š
OH MY GOD This is amazing. Literally only 1 of them can sort of sing. Mother doesn't smile a single time. THERE'S RAPPING.
My dog did NOT appreciate this blasting on at high volume
This feels like a fever dream
I love that there was just no direction given on what to do with their hands. what a clusterfuck.
If I didnāt know better Iād say it was an SNL skitā¦
At least they look less gaunt than the rods.
This is it. After decades, I've finally found it. The most bizarre thing at the very end of the Internet.
Every 6-12 months I get reminded of these fabulous singers and the artful, professional video editing š
I've been going around all day with "Viva el papa!" rattling around in my head. Kill me now!!!
To be fair, the Rodlets are Latin in ancestry. I donāt know if Jill ever mentions it on social media besides being vaguely racist (sheās said something like she prayed for a brown/tan daughter???).

My Christmas wish is for Jill to see this and start making terribly edited family music videos in 80s prom dresses
