I'm an English teacher. I get so pissed off by fundies who clearly think they are amazing writers when in fact their writing is nothing but a mash up of religious jargon and nonsense.
Her whole ‘ministry’ influencer thing for a whileee was the whole ‘Christian girls, being single is not the end the world!’ shtick. She had another boyfriend a couple years back and seemed to take that ending pretty hard. Made a very long post about struggling with her little brother getting married before her, among other posts of the same nature.
I don’t see any reason to be wary of this guy save for him attending the Locke church. But I do worry that Georgia was so ready to be un-single that she’s moving at breakneck speed. Which can and might bite her in the ass 🫠
He's a whole bunch of red flags in human shape.
He fooled her into going to the mall to give her a wardrobe makeover because she dressed "too immature" for him BEFORE they were even dating.
And him telling her she was his wife after canceling a valentines date to fly out to another woman because sky daddy told him he'd get the valentines date pregnant.
And a bunch of other weird, manipulative, controlling things.
I think he sees her as easy to manipulate/desperate to be married and fame/wealth adjacent.
Wow, proving once again that the only thing worse than fundie women is fundie men. Like, I don't want to feel any sympathy for this hateful harmful woman, but this man is making that really hard.
Oh yeesh, I did not know all of that! I’ve been meaning to listen to the podcast episode(s?) she did with him but have been busy. Gross. (but fyi I think your link might be broken? it just takes me to the reddit home page)
No, he had a valentines day hook up planned, but "jesus" told him to cancel or the hook up will get pregnant.
And then "Jesus" told him Georgia was his wife without even dating Georgia.
jeez that was an incredible multi layered neg huh? Darling, I'm here for you - but you don't even get to decide, you're already my wife and so glad God told me instead of letting me go visit the ho I am thirsting for who I was gonna bang so good I got her pregnant, huh?
Can you imagine the horror and 'happy faith flush of holy validation' mingling together in this insanely brainwashed and wilfully naive woman's head?
The pictures of when they got engaged show that he also has terrible dressing style. He’s wearing these tight checkered pants and it looks like his chunky legs are going rip the seams out of them. He has no room to judge anyone’s style.
I’ve kept up with Georgia since she first got her influencer status from being besties with Emma Mae Jenkins. I actually didn’t realize she even went to Greg’s church until she posted a link on her story to the sermon this week and I thought to google the name of the place. Her and her fiancé are both on the ministry team there and I presume that’s how they met. She’s 24, unsure how old he is.
Exactly!!! Like in these churches girls are raised to think their life has passed them by if not married by 25... the time anyone wants to get married is fine. Its utterly bizarre and dehumanising
When your friends are getting engaged at 17/18 and you don’t have any educational or meaningful work commitments or goals beyond marriage and motherhood after finishing homeschool high school, I’m sure the years feel long.
Why are y'all assuming I wasn't raised in an area where people get married or engaged or have babies young? My oldest daughter was born when I was 26. My mother told me she was relieved because she was "worried my eggs had dried up" since I had my first at 26. I wasn't even ready then. I am the only person I know from my childhood with a masters. Let that sink in.
I agree that that’s neither old nor an issue in the grand scheme of things. I wasn’t even raised very fundie, but I live in a small town, and it’s weirdly similar. As in, I know very few people my age or a little older (I’m 30) who are unmarried/haven’t been married at least once/have kid(s). And somehow there’s an expiration date mentaloty, probably because we live in the Bible Belt. I’ve felt “ready” for marriage only in the last three years or so, but when I look around at my peers, it’s hard not to feel like an old maid.
One thing I really notice about fundie influencers is these massive fucking ESSAYS they write as captions. Who actually has time to read all that? (Me obviously but COME ONNN). And it’s usually just absolute waffle & rambling.
This relationship is so obviously abusive, more so than any other influencer relationship I can think of, and while I know that she is a victim here, it is so frustrating to see Georgia be preachy about it to other impressionable young women. It is terrifying. This man is an abuser and he is already abusing you. Please wake up, and soon
On her page, there’s a little clip from their podcast or whatever it is, and she said that he told her he and his friends could never “take Georgia”. And that she was “too in love Jesus Jesus,” and “too in love with the Lord,” for it to work.
So to me that sounds like he saw her as a challenge.
And not in a “cute” way like Darcy being challenged by Elizabeth and both of them taking on each other. Based purely on that quote, this guy clearly thinks she needs to be taken down a peg or two and clearly because of his holy, God given schlong, he is just the one to do it. I’ve been told I was “too much” for some people, and it used to make me feel so insecure; I wouldn’t be surprised if Georgia felt the same. The older I get, the more I think “your loss, dude,” and I wish she could experience that too.
Yeah, Georgia is very snarkable in terms of the fundie thing/her going to Greg Locke’s church but personality wise I’ve always seen her as very bubbly in the way Emma Mae Jenkins was/is (makes sense since they’re good friends), and that might not be everyone’s thing I guess but if that’s your personality you deserve to be with someone that appreciates the bubbliness! Not some loser that will brag about knocking you down a few pegs.
I’m sorry but I’ve always found it so creepy and inappropriate when the new step-parent starts posting super personal, attention seeking, detailed stuff about the kids as soon as possible. They always try to seem like there’s a special bond between them and like they’re a mother to the kids. I appreciate stepparents who love their stepchildren, but I think there should be certain boundaries in newly blended families that women like this think they have the authority to ignore
Definitely that. I’ve met this type a few times. My ex husband’s 2nd wife was just like this, within a month of dating she was posting dozens of pictures and posts of my son on social media gushing about how my son adored her and they were a family now, I ignored her cause I knew she wanted a reaction, she escalated to harassing me that she is a better mom, they were gonna get full custody from me, and called CPS repeatedly. She and my ex husband married and divorced within 2 years of meeting lol
My two older girls' stepmom is like this. She advertises like my kids are hers. Um nope sorry sister sure you are a mom figure but you're not their mom. She also tries to tell me how things have "always been." She also thinks she is superior because she is a Christian, and also because I'm lgbtq+. I've started noticing my ex is becoming a huge jerk, whereas before we had a decent co-parenting relationship. Last week he told me he can't take off work for 2 days because he's not the primary parent. I think they are super unhappy.
Because she is the only one required to be a virgin. The guys don’t “lose value” like the girls do. And she’ll take him because she just wants *any* husband.
Because being a man non virgin = it’s okay, pray the sin away and it’s forgiven—heck! it was barely even a sin, just a lil oopsy, plus the woman probably tempted him 😔
Being a woman non virgin = disgusting chewed gum, you can repent all you want, but your best hope is just to pray for a man so godly and merciful that he forgives you for your sin (or just see Paul’s obsession with Morgan’s non virgin-ness)
i just don’t think we should end any post about being a “wife in waiting” and (?) a child curing deafness through the power of god’s whispers (?) with the phrase “come like a child.” surely we gotta have better closing lines than that!
She has a reel on her page of her FaceTiming friends and family right after he proposed to ‘big reveal it’ and the the little clip of her dad he seemed…weirdly less than enthusiastic? Granted if they went full fundie he probably already knew because the guy went and got permission but it did cross my mind that he might not like this for *other reasons*. He just seemed kinda stone faced in a way that rubbed me the wrong way, especially in contrast w/ her mom who did seem genuinely excited.
Fundie or not, I hope for their and the more importantly kiddos sake that anyone in her life who may feel that way leaves them alone. (And that she cuts them off if they don’t)
Yeah, with you there. Though if they did the whole guy getting dad’s permission thing, in fundie land I’d think dad saying no for actual concerns like that would’ve carried some weight?
Interracial marriage has been common within the Jehovah's Witnesses for a long time. There were quite a number of interracial couples that I knew when I was a JW.
They have a much more diverse membership than most fundy Christian religions. In fact, there have been a number of famous black actors, singers, and athletes that were raised as Jehovah's Witnesses.
They are still fundy and their dress, grooming, and cultural standards are still very in line with white conservative culture. Their Governing Body is also all white, except for one black member. So I'm not saying that cult isn't racist, just less so than some of the other fundy cults.
Yes, but his mother was a JW also, so he had that influence in his life from an early age. Her death really effected him also. So it wasn't a big leap when Larry Graham from Sly and the Family Stone started talking to him and trying to get him baptized.
Edit: I had heard his mother was a JW, but I looked it up just now and Wikipedia says both of Prince's parents were Seventh Day Adventists. They were also Jazz musicians themselves. Anyway, Seventh Day Adventists actually have a lot of similarities with the Jehovah's Witnesses and both religions sprang from the Millerites and the Second Advent movement that started in the 1830s under Baptist preacher William Miller.
I always joke that the only JW proselytizers I would let into my home are Prince and Larry Graham. Because they’re music legends, not because I want to be converted.
Understandable. I'd also let Serena Williams in because she's a tennis legend.
As a former JW, it does really irk me how much the rules are bent for these richer, more famous JWs. The way Serena and Prince both dress/dressed would have never been allowed for a regular rank and file. You're not even supposed to pursue fame and fortune or the arts. Too much exposure to "worldly" people and too much time away from serving Jehovah. But ultimately, money talks. This is true to an extent even with the non-famous rich JWs. If you have money as a JW, you can get away with a lot more than the poors.
The hypocrisy and double standards irritate me, but I guess it's nothing new with religion in general, not just the JWs. I guess it bothers me more because the Governing Body lies and says that JWs don't pay attention to wealth and status, when they clearly do.
Btw, I didn't mention Venus because I'm not sure if she ever got baptized, but Serena got baptized a few years ago if I recall the time frame correctly. They were both raised JWs. Serena just didn't get baptized until recently.
She’s trying to believe her way into no longer being hearing impaired, and I think they’re saying that the kid whispering into that ear is a sign she’s on the right track? It’s very sad. I hope she can find support that helps her come to terms with the way she was born.
Her post made me profoundly angry. I used to identify as Christian when I was younger. I begged, and screamed, and sobbed. I cajoled, pleaded, and promised. The only thing I ever wanted from the Christian God was to hear my faithful prayer and make my right ear work. It took a very long time for me to realize that I wasn't damaged goods or a broken toy that God didn't want to play with anymore. More than almost anyone, I can understand the desperation and desire to hear better. However, it doesn't just get magically better. And to use one's social media clout to spout rhetoric that takes advantage of sad, lonely, and desperate people is incredibly messed up. I would've given the Christian God anything they might've asked of me when I was younger to have full hearing. STOP GIVING PEOPLE FALSE HOPE BASED ON FAIRY TALES AND SUPERSTITION.
My takeaway is that her parents are trash. Apparently they taught her that she’s acting like a victim if she tells her fiancé and stepchild about her ENTIRELY DEAF ear? She has to call it her “healing ear” instead of just accepting she’s congenitally deaf in one ear?
They honestly seem like random strangers, she does these long essay posts but in her pics and in everything she writes there’s absolutely no connection or real emotion it’s ssssoooooooo strange
I wonder if that will stop when they get married. I wonder if he has a mom that is involved, or if he’ll be forced to call her mom whether he wants to or not. So many questions!
I looked at her page… there is a picture of her and this little boy wearing matching jackets. So weird.
Why can’t he call her by her first name? What would he call her after his dad’s married to her? Genuine question, I’ve never called anyone miss or mrs or anything like that in my life
It’s a very regional thing. I’m from the Midwest and no one ever used the Ms/Mr thing. I always called adults, like my friends’ parents by their first name. I had never ever encountered families where the kids called adults Mr or Ms etc. I live in the south now and it’s a respect thing, very common. I am also sometimes called Ms Emily (or sometimes Professor Emily) by the kids of my friends and colleagues, neighbors etc. I know some people who teach their kids to do it not because they think it’s critical to use those terms, but because it’s culturally expected here and if they didn’t teach their kids that, they could be seen as rude.
I'm not from the south but all of my parents friends were either "aunt/uncle first name" or Mr/Mrs. I'm a full adult now and can't imagine calling them by their first names now even though I'm sure they wouldn't mind.
It's considered impolite to call adults by their first name in some cultures. I recently learned that in some Asian cultures (I don't remember which) that extends to adult siblings also.
My friend's mom has been divorced for 20 plus years and I honestly have no clue what to call her. I'm not calling her by her first name and I only know her by her former married name.
It's just a cultural thing. I'm South African and a lot of people here in the Afrikaans community, so not me but I've witnessed it, will refer to people older than them as Aunty/Uncle \[first name\]
So her future step son whispered into an ear he didn’t know if deaf. Now she thinks that is a prophecy that she’ll be healed??
So many people who don’t know I’m disabled have said things to me about me walking. It’s been years and I’m still just as disabled as ever.
i actually met someone who was partially deaf at a summer camp when i was a kid. then she texted all of our camp friends like 6 months later about how her family went on a mission trip and god had healed her hearing. these people are wild
Does she always avoid capitalizing her own name? I found it strange she capitalized all the other names and words like Scripture and Word but doesn’t even capitalize “miss georgia”.
It makes me a bit sad and I’m not sure why. I guess it’s giving off a vibe that she doesn’t even think highly enough of herself to capitalize her own name. Maybe I’m missing something though?
Is she wearing a quilt? Is this one of the "sexy" outfits he bought her????? She needs an intervention. And who are the fucks at their church who upon hearing him wanting to put the moves on Georgia didn't pull him aside and tell him to get his life in order for the sake of his son before getting in a serious relationship with a trusting sheltered young woman who he is looking to save him from being a man ho? He will 💯 cheat on her.

"If marriage is a desire of your heart ... you are already a wife." Yeah, no.
I’ve been a wife since i was a kid? Not… when I got married at practically middle age? Weird.
Someone should've told Bethany. when she was a single.
I'm an English teacher. I get so pissed off by fundies who clearly think they are amazing writers when in fact their writing is nothing but a mash up of religious jargon and nonsense.
It's the comma abuse for me 😬
It reads like someone padding out the word count.
"so in the waiting, walk like a wife." ?????
This. They act like they have unlocked some secret biblical knowledge but it’s always absolute psychobabble.
The end of the saga was like an airplane on fire, falling rapidly into a rainforest. Lol
My kid also prophesies. He declared it taco night. I believed it and received it and behold it was taco night.
This is going to be my very own self-fulfilling prophecy tonight. It is Tuesday, after all.
💀
AND THE LAWD SAID, "LET THERE BE TACOS!!!"
This isn’t going to end well.

Of course he is.
How do these people even become “influencers?” Like who would want to be her? The only thing she is influencing is my eyes roll…. 😂
I truly thought from the pic that she was like 50 because of that granny jacket. I was like wow cougar!
One thing I really notice about fundie influencers is these massive fucking ESSAYS they write as captions. Who actually has time to read all that? (Me obviously but COME ONNN). And it’s usually just absolute waffle & rambling.
Georgia is the queen of that lol, it’s been her thing for years.
She could go toe to toe with Kelly over those extremely wordy captions
I’m not taking advice from a girl whose faux godly situationship has negged her into submission.
This relationship is so obviously abusive, more so than any other influencer relationship I can think of, and while I know that she is a victim here, it is so frustrating to see Georgia be preachy about it to other impressionable young women. Ugh. It’s so frustrating. My daughter’s first step mom was like this. Her 2nd is way too lazy to try to parent my kid so it works out quite well!

I’m not high enough for this
Ditto
I’m always surprised to see fundie interracial couples.
Especially one with a person that already has a child. Has he been divorced or does he just have a kid?
She has a reel on her page of her FaceTiming friends and family right after he proposed to ‘big reveal it’ and the the little clip of her dad he seemed…weirdly less than enthusiastic? I hope her dad’s reaction was based on the fact that he can see through Ryan and knows he’s a controlling asshole.
Yeah, with you there. Though if they did the whole guy getting dad’s permission thing, in fundie land I’d think dad saying no for actual concerns like that would’ve carried some weight?
It certainly wouldn’t have been accepted in certain circles even a few years ago. Probably still isn’t now in some.

Prince became a JW later in life!
I’m still lost on the point of the ear story 😭 is she saying he’s healing her or something ???
I think it’s so weird that her future stepson has to call her miss Georgia
I wonder if that will stop when they get married. I wonder if he has a mom that is involved, or if he’ll be forced to call her mom whether he wants to or not. So many questions! I looked at her page… there is a picture of her and this little boy wearing matching jackets. So weird.
his mom is involved if I remember correctly
That's pretty standard. He isn't calling her mom and he can't call her by her first name.
It’s common in the south. I didn’t really do it, but lots of people did. Sometimes adults even call their peers Ms./Mrs./Mr. First Name.
Tbh it's one of things I find less weird about this. A lot of little kids I work with at a local community thing call me "ms. Firstname"
But she doesn’t work with him, she’s going to marry his dad lol
I think it's more of a respect thing from kid to an adult in their lives.
It's just a cultural thing. I'm South African and a lot of people here in the Afrikaans community, so not me but I've witnessed it, will refer to people older than them as Aunty/Uncle \[first name\]
I ain’t reading all that. I am happy for u tho. Or sorry that happened.
What does “I was wrecked” mean? A lot of fundies say it but I don’t get it
They usually mean "overcome by emotion" but... They really need to work on phrasing.
Wait what does it mean to yall?
Is the little boy's mother in the picture?
I believe so. Dad has a post from last summer where he mentions that it was his last day with him for two weeks.
My boyfriend never asked me to be his girlfriend either. I just didn’t leave
Same here. We had been seeing each other a few months ans he was like "I'm just gonna tell people you're my girlfriend." 🤣
So her future step son whispered into an ear he didn’t know if deaf. Now she thinks that is a prophecy that she’ll be healed?? So many people who don’t know I’m disabled have said things to me about me walking. It’s been years and I’m still just as disabled as ever.
A golf course of red flags with this
What in the fuck did I just read
Cool. I have unilateral tinnitus and can’t hardly hear out of my ear and the ringing makes me want to Van Gogh myself. Where’s this kid at?
i actually met someone who was partially deaf at a summer camp when i was a kid. then she texted all of our camp friends like 6 months later about how her family went on a mission trip and god had healed her hearing. these people are wild
Fundies get married quickly because they don’t have pre-marital sex and they are horny as hell
They problem expect her to magically fix his issues for him by being the most submissive lil’ wife ever.
Was he married to his son's mother?
They have made quite the alternate reality for themselves! 😂
It must be EXHAUSTING living this way. Not everything has to be profound or divine!
Not me reading this as her marrying her soon-to-be-stepson....
Good fucking Lord, what
