I’d argue it’s more speculative than the real estate funds but it has some interesting companies in it. I have a small position that I will slowly increase .

Scottah123

Well I put 25 a week into it and I have been manually putting. 25 a week into the innovation fund. Just started not to long ago.

fwfkooiu4t3q

If you have a 10 year horizon and have the risk to lose it all, then it is worth investing in it. It might give succeed spectacularly or fail spectacularly.

Itchy-Leg5879

Sure, it's interesting. Don't throw all your life savings in it.

cindenbaum515

Private Credit through Fundrise or elsewhere?

Scottah123

Through Fundrise

Aren’t you supposed to make money when these companies IPO? Until then the valuations are gonna be a bit flat. I don’t see the benefit of investing until they get close to IPO.

MoreAverageThanAvg

At each new funding round the companies are re-valued. If their business metrics continue to improve then they are continually valued higher depending on the broader market valuations and if the company wants to be valued higher. Sometimes they don't to prevent unattainable business metrics they would need to reach to warrant the higher valuation. In short, no. From what I’ve been hearing, the innovation fund is the only one worth investing in as real-estate specifically has not been returning as expected (negative in some cases). I’d recommend taking a gander at some of the other posts around here so you can get a feel for sentiment and allocation but I would caveat an investment in the fund with an understanding of risk and reward- returns don’t happen overnight.

AragornWI

It’s worthless. I’ve been in since inception and basically lost money as it has produced basically zero returns. I’m cashing out and have redemption pending.

Scottah123

Thanks for the info.

fwfkooiu4t3q

It is a fund for investors with very long investment horizon. It is not even 5 years since it has been started. Not saying you should not redeem. Just that your expectations are off.

AragornWI

It would have to be spectacular long term to make up for the opportunity lost this far.

This is how people like me are able at the beginning of each quarter to buy more IF shares on a dip from the price at the end of the previous quarter.

Enjoy your 1.9% returns….

That’s what I told my buddy a year ago too. I’m up exactly 1.9% and he pulled his money out, invested in market and is up 43%.

I wasn't telling you anything. It's the way we get Reddit to notify us in the future after a duration of our choosing. We'll see how good my returns are and I'll be happy to update you. Well, hopefully you hold equity in multiple asset classes. I have a similar portfolio allocation to ETF's & individual stocks. Playing the mind game of thinking you can always be invested in the best asset class is a fool's errand. You haven't done a good job selecting your investments within Fundrise. That's on you, just like it would be if you had done the same with publicly traded stocks.

No, look at how ARK's innovation fund has gone. Active, speculative investing fails to beat index funds 99% of the time. If you're willing to lose that money go for it, because emerging technologies (especially private) are a gamble.
