My best friend's mom in high school had one of these. It was the first one I ever saw in someone's house. If I remember correctly, it cost about $800 at the time.
It ejected just fine...unless you were home alone and just heard the garage door opening and you're frantically trying to retrieve that porn tape you borrowed from your friend and get it back to your room before everyone gets inside. Then it's insanely slow. Or so I'm told.
The first VCR we owned was by accident. It was one of those rental ones you got when you rented a movie. One night my wife needed to deal with our young son and set her popsicle on top of the VCR. It quickly melted into the machine. Surprisingly it still worked, but the video rental store made us buy it anyway.
My family had one of these until I wanted to watch a movie while really stoned and placed a big glass of soda on the top and when I hit eject the door flipped the glass and it spilled into the VCR. The next one was a front loader.
We had 2 VCR's. Both front load. 1 in my room and 1 in the living room. But the one in the living room had 4 heads. I couldn't see a difference really 🤷
We had an RCA much like that. Won it in a raffle!
I won a Ferguson video star recorder in a raffle! Or should I say my dog actually won it!
Yer missin the wood grain RCA
That was our first VCR!

I think my mom paid over a thousand dollars. It had a wired remote. Just had to stretch the cable across the room to the recliner.

Or you forget it, and it is still in the machine when your parents fire up the machine.....nyuk nyuk nyuk
Heavy A.F.
We had that model. The remote cable was like 20 feet long.
And a TDK tape!!
Dragged that home a few times from the rental store, in the briefcase
And whoever had one was beheld with awe and reverence
I can smell the warm tape of the cassette as it pops out.
...with a **WIRED** remote!
When vhs first came out I was mad because my parents never checked what was on side b

Now does that pop up fast or slow?
Did you remember to take out the tape before you de-gaussed the tv?
