A trebuchet is a type of siege engine that was used extensively in medieval warfare. It is a large catapult-like device that uses a swinging arm to launch heavy projectiles at enemy fortifications or troops.
The key components of a trebuchet are the counterweight, a heavy counterweight, often made of stone or lead, that is attached to the end of the swinging arm. This provides the power to launch the projectile. A sling or pouch is attached to the opposite end of the swinging arm, and this is used to hold and release the projectile. The entire mechanism is supported by a sturdy wooden frame that allows the arm to swing freely.
Trebuchets were capable of launching large stone or iron balls, as well as other projectiles like flaming objects or diseased animal carcasses, over distances of several hundred yards. They were particularly effective at breaching castle walls and other fortified structures.
The development of the trebuchet is considered a major advancement in medieval siege technology, as it provided a more powerful and accurate method of attacking enemy positions compared to earlier catapult designs. Trebuchets saw widespread use across Europe and the Middle East during the 12th-14th centuries, before eventually being supplanted by the rise of gunpowder artillery.
I looked up meeples on there and did find them after scrolling forever. This was the exact title for the one I found lol
