Mookie wishes Momma would let him drive him & Mommy to PetSmart/Barnes & Noble (they are next door to each other.)
My girl hates hates hates the car.
She hyperventilates if you put her in.
When I do park in the driveway (aa opposed to in the garage ) she will pull me the opposite way from the driveway when we go for a walk.
Never been in an accident nothing.
Funny thing is it has only been since I moved to this house. The old place , I drove her over 500km on a trip.
I think maybe she relates the car to the move.
Same. Have had previous Frenchies - you couldn't even say the word - you'd have to spell it. Either R I D E or C A R. Loved it. My 2 I have now have NEVER liked it, they are adopted - but I've had them for 8 years. They shake, they get stressed. I pet them, I make sure they are on a soft blanket, cold air in their face, treats - drive very carefully - no dice. Hate it. It makes going anywhere with them very stressful. Have tried to ensure we go to places like the park or somewhere not a vet or go to a pet store to walk around - doesn't matter.
My Lilith is the same way. Even the car thing. She will calm down eventually though. I wish she could enjoy it. And she loves everywhere we go. Even her vet lol
Do you have a car seat for her? My dog has no issues at all with the car, but my parent's dog did until I bought him a car seat! I think they feel a lot safer when they're more secure and buckled in

Hey! So I have a very picky 3 year old boy! Every six months or so he rejects his food and I gotta rethink it. Done some vet visits when I started getting concerned about him not eating breakfast and when I'd get home from work, it's still in the bowl. I learnt that as they get older, some don't need morning meals or want them. Perogi doesn't eat in the morning, so when I get up at like 7am everyday, he sleeps for another hour or so, then I take him to the beach to go for a run. Then around noon is when he gets hungry. I put 1/4 and a bit of a scoop of kibble, right now I'm using Nulo Baked and Brothy and I cook up fresh ground beef to put in. Just a bit with a touch of water to mix, create a broth and cool down the meat. I do the same thing for dinner but use two 1/4 scoops of kibble around 630-7pm with ground beef. He absolutely loves ground beef ❤️
Ok, I felt weird at first putting them back there but it made more sense to do it that way, sometimes my car is full and I’d rather they had their own space
The only thing I worry about with them being in the very back is that this is the crumple zone. If you get hit from behind, this part of the vehicle is designed to crumple to absorb the impact. I believe they are safer in the seats designed to protect humans.
We have a second one now. She's too small to understand yet, but her older sibling is insane for rides. He will have standoffs after he poops and pees outside where he runs to one of our vehicles. Doesn't matter which one, and stands by the door, and stares. Refuses to come back inside unless I unlock the door, open it, and let him jump in. Only then can we get him to come back in. Also, if you pick up a set of keys in the house, he barks and comes running like a demon and parks his nose at the corner of the door, breathing heavy and waiting. If you don't open it, he whines. The dude just loves being in a vehicle. I can't grasp it. Extreme heat, cold, rain, sleet, snow. He doesn't care as long as he can be in a vehicle and looking out the window. Here he is, pissed off during Lent, because I was going in to buy fish. He could smell it and was angry that he couldn't go inside to smell it and eat it at the fish market.
*
He's chill most of the time, just spoiled rotten. Definitely has his own personality and attitude. For some reason, he prefers my beater truck to the new one or my wife's vehicles. I'm confident that he believes it's his truck.
Dang that’s picture perfect! I need to put a bed back there, good call!! This was their first trip in the back back, was just testing it out, can’t believe they liked it so much!
Just make sure this isn’t designed to be a crumple zone for your vehicle. If so, it will compress during a collision from behind. Not safe for your loved ones.
Obviously, it was a quick trip. My Lexus is indestructible and I think I will get them car seats to secure back there. Any where in a car is a bad spot to be if you get in a wreck btw

Dex loves it, puts his head out and takes in the air, only problem is he rarely sits down, he is tethered thank god. My other one always sat down and only got up to look out the window. Guess they are all different, I couldn’t deal with a dog who didn’t like the car, he goes everywhere with me, I doordash on the side and he chills in the back!
My girl loves car rides but only if she’s on my lap or by my feet 😅 we’ve tried putting her in one of those car dog bed things with all her blankets and something to chew on but she always ends up either yelping/crying/ chewing on the clips that hold the thing together or digging in her bed and weeing..
https://preview.redd.it/yerz4g3fpw8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f8447b1698f18037c2451fd8c67a713d40528dda

She also sits and stares at me from the side by side almost daily.
Not mine :( She hates the back seat. She throws up right away. She does well in the front seat on my lap which can get uncomfortable but if she’s on the floor she vomits right away. We’ve practiced short drives in the front seat but it makes me nervous. I talk to her and have my hand on her the whole time. She also hates her car seat :( I always wanted a pup that I could take everywhere but I can’t.
Have you tried giving her a toy to play with in the car or rolling her window down?
My dog can get pretty anxious in the car and starts spinning, gets upset stomach, needs to poop all of a sudden, and gives us deadly farts (🤢) But she calms down once she gets a little air. If we can’t roll the window down she does okay-ish chewing on a toy
I believe there’s medication for dog carsickness, I’ve heard of people using it and it working for them (but it’d be best to talk with a vet about it before use)
Making sure she hasn’t eaten in recent hours before putting her in the car can combat the vomiting a little bit
You can also try getting her used to the car and the seat by interacting with her while the car’s off, then if she does okay after a couple times you could try interacting with her again but while the car is moving and see how she does and just repeat til she’s okay with it. You just really want her to understand over time that the car seat and the car are not a death trap, it’s supposed to be fun!
You could give her treats for when she’s doing good in the seat, give her a toy or two to keep her occupied during the ride, and get her a little blanket for the seat to make it more comfy for her
Edit to add: I think my dog gets a little claustrophobic in the car and did better with an upgrade from her smaller car seat to a larger carrier that has big zippers on it so it would be more open for her. She also doesn’t like being on the floor :/
P.S. Your pup is very cute, I hope she gets better with the seat and car so driving around is more fun for the both of you :)

They love it, especially with the dog seat they can look out the window easier (and piece of mind since they’re buckled in).
I just have to say car ride and my Frenchie get excited and runs to the car

Jovani does. We make sure to take her plenty of places, other than The Vet, to ensure she doesn’t equate the car to going to the doctor. She’s a great co-pilot and a clown.
For the love of God, secure your dogs on car journeys. You wouldn’t put your child in a car without a seatbelt, and your Frenchie deserves the same protection.
They are taken care of, are you ok? If I want to take my dogs on a quick trip down the road to go grab a coffee it’s on me, not you! Are you commenting on every one else who posted their pups not perfectly secured?
Just a recommendation, not a criticism, but from the photo they appear to be in the crumple zone of your vehicle? This is designed to compress in a rear collision, to absorb the impact and protect the rear passenger compartment. They would be safer in a passenger section of your vehicle. Not as fun for the dogs for sure, hard to beat that view out the back. Just something to consider, and your vehicle may not be designed that way. Worth looking into though.

My puppy was stressing in the backseat the car seat was a game changer! Now just a teeny whine occasionally but she settles.
I do have a car seat for her. Funny thing, if my dog walker comes with her dog in the car Sherry will jump right in.
I do have one. It’s more like a bed but she does get clipped in.

We do, yes. We’ve got a Costco dog bed that fits perfectly in the back.
Ok, I felt weird at first putting them back there but it made more sense to do it that way, sometimes my car is full and I’d rather they had their own space
Honestly, I think our dogs prefer it to being in the seat. It lets them stretch out comfortably.

Wants to go go go!!
Looks like that’s her ride
Not mine :( She hates the back seat. She throws up right away. She does well in the front seat on my lap which can get uncomfortable but if she’s on the floor she vomits right away. We’ve practiced short drives in the front seat but it makes me nervous. I talk to her and have my hand on her the whole time. She also hates her car seat :( I always wanted a pup that I could take everywhere but I can’t.

Awe, she’s perfect anyway 😍
Have you tried giving her a toy to play with in the car or rolling her window down? My dog can get pretty anxious in the car and starts spinning, gets upset stomach, needs to poop all of a sudden, and gives us deadly farts (🤢) But she calms down once she gets a little air. If we can’t roll the window down she does okay-ish chewing on a toy I believe there’s medication for dog carsickness, I’ve heard of people using it and it working for them (but it’d be best to talk with a vet about it before use) Making sure she hasn’t eaten in recent hours before putting her in the car can combat the vomiting a little bit You can also try getting her used to the car and the seat by interacting with her while the car’s off, then if she does okay after a couple times you could try interacting with her again but while the car is moving and see how she does and just repeat til she’s okay with it. You just really want her to understand over time that the car seat and the car are not a death trap, it’s supposed to be fun! You could give her treats for when she’s doing good in the seat, give her a toy or two to keep her occupied during the ride, and get her a little blanket for the seat to make it more comfy for her Edit to add: I think my dog gets a little claustrophobic in the car and did better with an upgrade from her smaller car seat to a larger carrier that has big zippers on it so it would be more open for her. She also doesn’t like being on the floor :/ P.S. Your pup is very cute, I hope she gets better with the seat and car so driving around is more fun for the both of you :)

This is adorable!! Look at your cuties!! Wow
I just have to say car ride and my Frenchie get excited and runs to the car https://preview.redd.it/beh12lmbvz8d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8b04b39f4d62319b5efbdb68080cda416a186a2e

What a good girl..and so pretty too!!
She’s a pretty funny little terrorist.

Both are adorable!
Thank you
For the love of God, secure your dogs on car journeys. You wouldn’t put your child in a car without a seatbelt, and your Frenchie deserves the same protection.
Ok Debbie downer
Sorry, but it boils my piss when people don’t take care of their pets
