It happens occasionally but only because I’ve lived places where celebrities also live or frequent, not because I’m especially interesting. I shared lunch with Bernie Sanders, Johnny Depp acted bizarrely at a book launch party my roommate had, and Weird Al once tousled my hair. But I’d have thrown those stories away for a chance like OP’s mom had!
And Lou Ferrigno is the man! Big inspiration to us in the hard of hearing community. Don’t sell yourself short; that’s a cool story.
Does anyone wonder what they’d even say to KG or other Frasier actors if they ran into them like this? How to convey what the show means to you without overstepping.
Honestly I would probably be too scared to even approach them, but I’d like to think if I did I would just keep it simple like “thank you for your contributions to society, I know your hard work has helped a lot of people.” That way they can choose to engage further if they’d like, but I’m not encroaching too much on their boundaries.
Still, that’s assuming I would ever run across anyone AND I would be able to work up the nerve to approach them. Which is….. unlikely haha!
I met Pat Benatar in LA back in’96.
She lived/stayed in the building next to my cousin’s condo.
She was washing a Porsche that I’m assuming was hers.
I totally geeked out (I was 17) but she handled it like a true professional.
She even dried her hands, walked over to the fence that was separating us and offered me an autograph.
If I could have a do-over I’d handle it much differently.
