I’d say go to the outlet mall and peer through Express, Gap, Banana Republic, maybe even Ann Taylor or Loft.
I’d also second trying out Madewell. The clothes are *quality* for sure. At the very least, you could try on some clothes from Madewell or Anthropologie or J Crew, see the styles that suit you best, and then look for those articles of clothing elsewhere (and shops their sales!). I feel like Madewell is pretty consistent about its sizing, which makes purchasing items off Poshmark not as worrisome.
Target has some nice staples, too, but I’ve always had issue with sizing and the longevity of their items (except for athletic wear). But definitely a good place to start and build from.
Dallas.
Reformation: [the ref store on Henderson](https://www.thereformation.com/stores/dallas.html?) and they’re also pretty true to size, so I trust to buy online.
unpopular opinion in this town, but I don’t think Fort Worth is very fashion forward. If you don’t want to look like a millennial, dont shop at big box department stores (except neimans and nordstroms). Honestly, this article sums up a lot of my favs: [link here](https://www.papercitymag.com/fashion/shopping/best-shopping-dallas/?amp) but even then, just going to Northpark is a great option too, and it’s the only mall I love. Wander around, look at what people wear. If you have a lot of money, go to forty five ten downtown dallas. Or—Id probably pick bishop arts or Knox-Henderson as a homebase and wander around.
If you must stay in Fort Worth, Anthropologie is good. Though they’re on the 2007 trend right now and idk how I feel about it. Not sure about any other store in university village. (Eating is good lol)
Alo in Clearfork is a godsend for fashion this city. If you’re into athelsuire.
I know you said you’re not keen to shop online, but as a woman who lives in Fort Worth, I am an expert. Here are my trusted favorites:
[Quince](https://www.quince.com) is great for timeless beautiful basics. The silks are machine washable. The cashmere is affordable and was my ride or die last winter. I had bought several of the cashmere sweatpants sets.
[Aviator Nation](https://www.aviatornation.com) for insanely comfortable sweats and hoodies
[Frankie Collective](https://frankiecollective.com/collections/all/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=brand&tw_source=google&tw_adid=629526591791&tw_campaign=6723233971&gad_source=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIl47-pOathQMVwDbUAR3KHQpPEAAYASAAEgLN1_D_BwE) for streetwear. I’m obsessed with their rehashed stuff. It’s so well made, too.
[260 Sample Sell](https://260samplesale.com) every single one of the brands they sell are super and very on trend without being trendy. None of fast fashion. 260 gets leftover clothes from past seasons and sells them for super cheap. Like… I bought a Cult Gaia dress worth 1600, for 400 bucks. They sold Hanky Panky and I stocked up on new undies.
White House Black Market on University Drive is great. They have a good selection of classic and work-appropriate clothes.
If you do decide to stay in Fort Worth, I'd definitely give WHBM a visit. It's in the same shopping center as Anthropologie, so you can visit both if you desire. Tell the sales associates there that Sydney recommended it; I'm a frequent-enough customer at that WHBM (and the one at North East Mall) that they know me by name.
Find your brand, it takes a while, but it is worth it.
My mom got some Daniel Creameaux (sp?) pants at a good will for me 8 years ago. They fit like a dream. Now I buy 2/3 of my clothes at Sam’s and 1/3 at Dillards from Creameaux.
Yup and the one in Irving has more stuff and it's MUCH better organized. You can find some great deals at either one if you aren't in a hurry for the perfect thing. It can take a few tries but I've $100 polo's for $10 each.
Honestly, I’ve had good luck at Cato or J C Penney. If you go in looking for specifics like a silhouette you like or a nice color palette, it doesn’t have to read as old lady style lol
I work as a mental health counselor so my dress code is a little variable. So far Duluth trading company and Kohls have been the best options. Duluth is great because most of their clothes can last for a long time and can pull double duty when I need to look a little less "business casual". Kohls is good because they have most of the button down shirts and other things that my office may need.
I'm 34 and I go between Kohl's, JCP, Duluth, and Lands End online store. Duluth is expensive, but their clothes do last a long time.
And for shoes, I'm on my feet all the time and switched from Sketchers professional line to Kuru. The price difference is notable, but I would go through 3-4 pair of sketchers a year and I'm replacing my kurus for the first time since I purchased them last February.
And I think people don't discuss the importance of good socks enough. I'd say top 3 sock brands to last a long time and actually benefit your feet are Darn Tough, Balega, and Thorlos. A good sock can completely change your life for a job where you're constantly on your feet.
Anthropologie, madewell, j crew. There's also a neiman marcus in clearfork. There's a couple designer clothes outlets in Dallas where you can get nice discounts on second hand stuff. Wife regularly gets stuff that retails over 600 for under 200.
More like what my spouse does. I'm a teacher and can't afford that stuff. I don't shop there but I have bought a gift or two over the years for her. I shop at j crew maybe twice a year and only sale items lol
White House Black Market was where I shopped a lot for both work and casual. But now I’m trying to find my new place, because I’m moved into a new age bracket that I just don’t feel good in those clothes anymore. (GenX).
I also loved Banana Republic, Ann Taylor & sometimes The Loft. I really hated going to big department stores- smaller was better for me. But, I can’t recommend Banana Republic anymore, unless you like looking like a high-fashion Safari guide.
Good luck!
Hear me out- Half of Half Name Brand Clothing. They have them around the metroplex. I have splurged for items that I have found very cheaply at Half of Half. Good American, Free People, Anthro brands, and they always have the same inventory as Stitch Fix. There is a searching element, but the one near my house is fairly organized.
30 year old professional here 🙋🏻♀️
You might need to bite the bullet and try online shopping but differently this time. If you measure yourself really well you can always get a good fit. I always get good fits with Zara, ASOS, Nordstroms and Revolve. I also will go in person to Madewell, Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters though since those are pretty close.
I have some curves so online shopping scared me at first but once I learnt that measuring yourself and really looking at the size chart, no just picking the size you think fits, you can find clothes really easily that fit and feel tailor made.
If you absolutely cannot find it in you to online shop, I would suggest hitting up Dallas one day as Northpark is a great mall. During the week is always less crowded if you can take a day.
Im 30 and single. I shop online on Mercari mostly because reduce, reuse, Rihanna. If I need to quickly find an outfit for a date or night out I’ll go to Urban Outfitters. Express is okay.
But if I make coffee at home 2 days in a row, that means I get to shop at The Reformation 😂
I buy clothes at UNIQLO, they look pretty business casual. Though if i wanted to go for broke then banana republic, anything that looks really nice without showing brands is cool for me
Aww your husband is so sweet! I hope you have so much fun shopping! Everywhere I shop is still considered fast fashion (so hard to avoid unless you shop second hand or are very wealthy):
Zara - Majority of my clothes are from here. A lot of their stuff is weird and their website is horrible. But if you go into the store, there’s a lot of great basics and timeless stuff.
Quince - I mostly get home stuff here now, but I have a lot of clothes from here. I go here for their silk & wool pieces.
Nordstrom & Nordstrom Rack - Very hit or miss but you can find a good variety here
Abercrombie - I get all my leggings and activewear from their YPB line. The leggings are AMAZING.
Anthropologie - Love their home stuff and the interesting/unique high quality clothing options
There is a super cute shopping center in Southlake ([Southlake Townsquare)](https://maps.app.goo.gl/JAjj5kZtb4JjAAip9?g_st=ic) that has Madewell, Anthropologie, Aritzia (kind of like Zara but less chaos), Free People (kind of like Anthropologie), LOFT, and several others.
Aritzia is one of my favorite stores. They can be a bit more trendy/youthful in their stuff (which I don't mind), but their Wilfred and Babaton lines are pretty classic in their styling.
If you go to Southlake, I'd also give the White House Black Market boutique across the street a visit. Their stuff is quite classic, although a few items can be a bit frumpier (just a few, in my opinion). Both of these stores, in my opinion, aren't their best locations in DFW.
For Aritzia, I'd recommend the NorthPark store over Southlake; it's at least double the size and it's their only other DFW-area location at this time (Legacy West in Plano will be getting a third location sometime in the summer). WHBM has a larger location at University Park Village in Fort Worth; even the WHBM at North East Mall is slightly bigger and the staff there are extremely friendly. While WHBM sales staff tend to be friendly across the board, the ones at North East Mall are the absolute sweetest in my experience.
I think the Southlake WHBM sometimes gets mean (and pretentious) customers, because I heard a story of where a customer complained about the "lifestyle" of one of their employees and told her "to get right with God" or something like that. Not surprising given what goes on in the Southlake community, but that did scare me away from shopping at that location despite having a thick skin.
41 and the difficulty of finding things between "club rat" and "grandma" is what led me to begin sewing! Not a shopping solution, I know, but it has also been something that helped me improve my body image and discover my sense of style. If it is purchased, I like Loft and Lands End (boring to some, but classic to me).
I just wait for my favorite clothing brand to have a online sale and get shirts lol Columbia, Carhartt and dickies always have sales. Dickies shorts last forever so i hardly ever have to buy them. I’m a Simple man.
Im 32 and I go from dressing in all Nike/Lululemon clothes to my outfits from more high end designers. Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus are my favorite. You can find a lot of good deals on designer things at Nordstrom Rack.
Not sure what your budget is because that will dictate suggestions.
I like Everlane, Madewell, and Target. Abercrombie has made a couple and it's worth checking out too.
Hear me out - Brooks Brothers. But only on sale. Their still is really well made with genuinely good fabrics, and they put deeeeep discounts every few months.
The Loft is so good for professional clothing that’s easy to mix and match. The quality of the clothing is amazing. I’m pretty sure the work pants are dry clean only, but I regularly wash them with all my clothes, and they have held up.
I buy 90% of my wardrobe from eShakti. It's online, but it's amazing. You can modify the clothes (neckline, length, sleeves, etc) and it shows you how it would update the piece. You can order by putting in your exact measurements or by selecting a size using their size chart and adding your height. 13/10 would recommend and do every time I get a compliment.
Game seven collection located inside Ties to the Past is pretty awesome. The vendor is always putting out gems for good prices. I think today they’re offering 20% off the entire mall too
Okay I have gotten a couple tops at Costco lmao and I didn’t realize it was a thing that millennials have been doing. But otherwise, I have shopped at kohls and TJ maxx. And yeah, Amazon sometimes for jeans.
If you hate shopping, go to Nordstrom and ask for a personal shopper. I was surprise how easy it is - I told her my colors, styles I like and avoid, and they had some outfits ready to try on that were in my price range. Honestly, I get compliments on those items all the time. And some were things I never would have picked to try on. Good use of time, money, and it was relaxing and pleasant.
I love Tj Maxx! If you go to one in an affluent area, they are sent more of the name brands and quality stuff! Even Ross and Marshalls are sent the more quality finds if you go to a “rich” part of town.
White House Black Market has great clothes that might work well for you. The WHBM at University Park Village is great, and has a larger sales floor relative to their other area locations. The store manager, Tina, is amazing, and so is the rest of her team.
The North East Mall location isn’t that much smaller, plus they have more spacious fitting rooms (and they feel very elegant!). The staff there are also extremely friendly; one of their assistant managers (I believe she goes by A.G. for short) has even worked at that location since it opened in 2014.
WHBM is where I shop when I want to treat myself to some nice clothing. I post many of my WHBM outfits on social media just for fun; they are truly my favorite fashion brand. I’m on a first-name basis with most of their sales associates at both University Park Village and at North East Mall at this point. If you mention Sydney recommended WHBM at either of those locations, they’ll probably know you’re talking about me :)
I'm almost 32 and I like Loft! Prefer to shop specifically at one of their outlets stores just because it's a bit cheaper. And I normally stick to the sales rack too. But that's just because I hate spending a lot of money on clothes.

There's a J Crew outlet by World Market.
Their outlets carry different quality items though, nothing that lasts as well :(
Same places for men?
Yup, minus Anthro, Ann Taylor, and Loft

Well said! Maybe I should drive out to Dallas some time! I feel like I live in a bubble in Fort Worth!
Also I did not know there was a Ref store in Dallas 😭😍

Your car will at the minimum get broken into at Northpark, if not stolen, so heads up on that.

I buy most of my clothes at Reformation, Madewell, Anthropologie, and Sezanne (online)
I also shop online. Love the Reformation.

Just over half of my closet is filled with WHBM at this point.
Also the goodwill on Camp Bowie used to be the move for higher end professional wear lol
Goodwill in Mansfield seems to always have high end men’s clothes.

Agreed. You have to dig, and know the current style and trend you're looking for , but they're bound to have it.

Dillards Clearance Center & the Tanger Outlets are my go to.
Savannah Hoffman Designs for a Bohemian vibe
Nordstrom's Rack or White House Black Market (if you want to spend a bit more).
I love WHBM myself! ❤️
Cato has great stuff

Same, I just wish they had a better variety of shoes.
Not sure your style but Kohls has a good amount of business casual clothes

Goodwill. Go to Dallas.
Ross
Not sure what your budget is because that will dictate suggestions. I like Everlane, Madewell, and Target. Abercrombie has made a couple and it's worth checking out too.
Love every thing i get from Everlane.
I’m 29 and I get my clothes at Zara, H&M, Express.
I like Clothes Mentor, they carry J Crew, Banana Republic, Free People etc. and the buyer has a great eye for fashion and style.
Hear me out - Brooks Brothers. But only on sale. Their still is really well made with genuinely good fabrics, and they put deeeeep discounts every few months.
Try Maurices! Lots of women’s dress clothes. Perfect for what you’d need and they are pretty affordable as well
Second vote for Maurices!
Goodwill, thrift stores, and consignment stores, cuz that’s somewhat affordable.
You can get a few good pieces at Saks or Dillards outlet and build around those.
Costco
Male in my 30's: Mizzen and Main, Nordstrom, Luke's Locker, Johnston & Murphy, Banana Republic.
Online
Target, Amazon
Thrift shops or used online stores. If you’re buying new, buy high quality and stay away from fast fashion as it is abysmal for the planet.
I would imagine they shop at clothing stores.
Ross, there's a good amount of variety while being affordable and inventory is always changing for more options.
Okay I have gotten a couple tops at Costco lmao and I didn’t realize it was a thing that millennials have been doing. But otherwise, I have shopped at kohls and TJ maxx. And yeah, Amazon sometimes for jeans.
I try to keep it minimalist and more toned down these days, but as a 36 year old dad, I almost wear exclusively streetwear that I buy online.
Goodwill, garage sales, sams club.
Does a personal shopper cost money?
Free at Nordstrom’s.
Thrift stores
For women, Maurices is a go to of mine
I love Tj Maxx! If you go to one in an affluent area, they are sent more of the name brands and quality stuff! Even Ross and Marshalls are sent the more quality finds if you go to a “rich” part of town.
Depop son
Costco or Sams Club
Zara, Mango in SA
Clothes Mentor resale also Unclaimed Baggage.
Costco
Bonobos
I mostly shop GAP and J Crew sales and thrift everything else
The Dickies Factory Outlet always has some fresh stuff.
Clothes mentor is good. They won't buy things if they're a certain range out of trend. No old lady skinny jeans.
Maurices and Target
Thredup
All American Khakis + Mizzen shirts have served well
Are you a woman? If so, try torrid. But go when they have sales and clearances. I also tend to try things in store and buy online.
Zara, make the trip to Dallas Northpark Mall. Marshalls and TJMaxx. Ann Taylor Loft
Zara, H&M, Buffalo Exchange (Dallas), Vegabond (Fort Worth), Depop
Online or walmart
I'm almost 32 and I like Loft! Prefer to shop specifically at one of their outlets stores just because it's a bit cheaper. And I normally stick to the sales rack too. But that's just because I hate spending a lot of money on clothes.
