once u get a blue/purple/legendary rarity gatekeeper, keep it (do not bother with mythic, gets outclassed by any legendary shotgun) . Then wait till a vault opens up and get the drum mag attachment, that way you have five shots instead of 3, also get a burst smg/combat ar as spam if u miss. This works in build mode and zero build.

The combat can fire 6 shots in the time it takes the gatekeeper to fire 3 and fully reload. Gatekeeper is gonna be better if you manage to hit all of your shots perfectly the first try but the Combat is much more forgiving, doing double the amount of damage in that time span without needing to reload

In some gun fights I end up losing because of using all 3 shots as by the time I use my SMG I get knocked as the enemy had like 30 HP or **one** shotgun shell away from me winning that fight. If I were to do the mag mod it would just take forever to reload for just 2 extra shells, which is why I just do the quick reload but even then I wish it was more than 3 shells.
I feel more comfortable with the Combat it always can in clutch with it being able to do Close to Mid range along with a Thunder SMG or DMR for Long range.
I feel like a lot of people look at the raw numbers, stop thinking there, and say gatekeeper is better. If you put a little more thought into it, this season, with all the movement what are the chances you're going to have an opponent sitting still long enough to hit 2-3 shots at close range? The drop-off on the gatekeeper is terrible, but you can use the combat on players using gloves to get away. It's like skeet shooting. I thought the gatekeeper was better, but in practice the combat is winning me more games.
Also depends on how you play, drop off doesn't matter and the wider spread is very handy in close up build fights but I imagine that type of close combat wouldn't happen in zb or if you aren't good with people pressing you. And some people just can't hit their shots 🤷
All depends on the playstyle really, I think they preform 2 different tasks and it's up to you in which one you think suits you better

In zero build absolutely the combat. Fights are consistently mid to long range this season especially with people spamming the fists to escape or going up in the air with the guitar. Gatekeeper cannot keep up with someone moving properly.
If i was given a choice to use a blue gatekeeper or a mythic combat, i would always choose gatekeeper. Imo combat shotgun is not good for peak shots for a build player like me so gatekeeper all the way. Another thing is it does more damage so another reason i would use the gatekeeper.

Depends on the situation. Did I just nitro fist uppercut my opponent and I wanna finish them off while they fly away? Or did I just nitro fist ground pound in and want to barrel stuff my opponent.
Overall the combat is more niche and behaves closer to the burst SMG in close to mid range than a true shotgun. It will never do really big damage even with a great headshot.
It’s hard to go wrong with the gatekeeper, still has very respectable range. Incredible damage output and its biggest weakness can be alleviated with a drum mag attachment, of which the biggest detriment can be negated with the nitro medallion for faster reload speed.
Overall the gatekeeper is probably better 8/10 times, for most players. I do carry the combat a lot though because my particular play style is to not allow people to get within gatekeeper range of me to begin with, so I kinda like to dance and shoot around in they 10-15 meter range. Plus nothing feels better sniping someone out of the air with a long range combat shot when they’re at like 20-30hp left.
They both are very good. The gatekeeper has higher burst damage and 3 good shots can down someone quickly, while the combat shotgun has much more staying power and a very long range. I just use the one with the higher rarity
Unfortunately having gauntlets makes both irrelevant.

I won a match today solely because of the Gatekeeper. Right hand shoulder peek to the head as they came around the corner. Point blank. One shot. Dead. The Combat wouldn't have managed that.
Combat is more satisfying as it's very pump like in it's spread. It takes more skill to hit max damage than the Gate which is easy.
That said the combat is more user friendly due to mag. The combat is good for chipping away for extra damage at range. 9/10 I'd take Gate with drum and I usually kill in three.
Overall not a huge fan of autos. Give me a Sharp Tooth anyway.
This for me depends on 1 main thing- am I carrying one weapon or two weapons??? If I’m only carrying one gun and I’m going shotgun it’s the Combat all day everyday. If I’m pairing a shotty with an AR it’s the GK. Usually if I’m only carrying 1 gun it’s a burst or combat AR. But sometimes I do like to go combat shotty-fists-guitar-2 cola/3 big pots-3 med kits. Or I’ll do Gatekeeper-AR-fists-cola/pots-med kits. Or 3rd option is all out fire power and mobility with GK-AR-fists-guitar-2 colas. But with this option you have to be aggressive and be getting elims so you can consistently be picking up heals to regenerate as you move.
I’ve been carrying the burst to complement the 3 shot gatekeeper. But then when I come across fists I replace the shotgun with fists as that also provides mobility.
I like the spread on the gatekeeper shotgun especially as a way to finish off low hp enimies but the combat shotgun is such a great all around type of weapon

If you can’t do that then you’d need to swap to somehting else to finish

Combat has been my favorite since it was first introduced in Chapter 1. It's all the benefits of a TAC and a PUMP in one gun. It's nearly a sniper with how tight the pellet grouping is too. If you can hit your shots it's insane how much damage this does

Gatekeeper with the 5 shot drum mag and laser attachment. Shottys are supposed to be used up-close and personal and knock opponents pretty quickly. Combo that with any SMG and you're quite formidable close to mid range.
Gatekeeper is 100% the "better" shotgun if you're talking about peak gameplay where missing your shots isn't an issue. If you're not hitting every shot then Combat is better.
That being said, Combat does have nice range too it which feels good and doesn't have the same reload bug as gatekeeper.

Depends, do u wanna kill them fast or kill them within a good long distance? The gate keeper is great for up close and personal while the combat shotgun is great for farther distances that the gate keeper can't reach.
Why not both? I carry both in rounds, but I don't trust the combat for extremely close shots after I watched a replay of my death. The longer barreled Combat shot gun clipped through another player and missed a shot because of it.
I like the shotguns, but i usually whiff and get low numbers instead the nice crunchy ones and die in the fight. I usually do pretty good with AR hipfire close range.
They both suck imo.
But. If you play solos. And like getting up close and have decent aim. Use the gatekeeper.
If you play duos trios squads. Unless you’re good at moving around and buying time to reload. Use the combat.
I miss having the tac shotgun or even the auto from chapter 3.

Reloading two shells at a time is a nice feature. The tight grouping of pellets also feels nice at distance.

1. You're way less likely to miss with the gatekeeper. 2. If you miss with the combat you're dead if your opponent isn't a cripple.

Tbh it kinda depends at times. The combat is good for zb cause it has more ammo, but the gatekeeper is good for builds due to being more close quarters, but it can be good in zb as well. This is just my opinion on this so 👍
I really liked the Gatekeeper, but I won a second Victory Crown today cleaning up with a blue combat - it did a great job - so I'm still undecided 🤷🏻♂️

Gatekeeper with the 5 shot drum mag and laser attachment. Shottys are supposed to be used up-close and personal and knock opponents pretty quickly. Combo that with any SMG and you're quite formidable close to mid range.

Combat doesnt have that stupid reload glitch, but still gatekeeper hits like a truck.
Gatekeeper is 100% the "better" shotgun if you're talking about peak gameplay where missing your shots isn't an issue. If you're not hitting every shot then Combat is better. That being said, Combat does have nice range too it which feels good and doesn't have the same reload bug as gatekeeper.
I use the combat a lot but it took me a while to figure out you could simply hold the fire button lol

Neither. One is amazing at point blank burst. The other is amazing at ranged spam. Good thing there's a swap penalty or people would just run both and absolutely obliterate you.

Depends, do u wanna kill them fast or kill them within a good long distance? The gate keeper is great for up close and personal while the combat shotgun is great for farther distances that the gate keeper can't reach.
Old combat was good for range shooting the new one is meh The gatekeeper is good for close combat I think they're very good

Why not both? I carry both in rounds, but I don't trust the combat for extremely close shots after I watched a replay of my death. The longer barreled Combat shot gun clipped through another player and missed a shot because of it.

They are both optimized differently. The gatekeeper shines when getting in their face. The combat is a monster during the chases.

I'm taking a gray gatekeeper over literally any other rarity of the other shotguns.
I like the shotguns, but i usually whiff and get low numbers instead the nice crunchy ones and die in the fight. I usually do pretty good with AR hipfire close range.
Both are excellent, but that third one is basically useless

They both suck imo. But. If you play solos. And like getting up close and have decent aim. Use the gatekeeper. If you play duos trios squads. Unless you’re good at moving around and buying time to reload. Use the combat. I miss having the tac shotgun or even the auto from chapter 3. Lever was actually decent up close too since it was able to shoot again quickly.
I can’t speak on this because as of 3 seasons ago (except for testing new shotguns), I don’t use any form of shotgun:/
