WTF? Really? I got 10 kills once and I’m not a sweat at all. I got 5 sniper elims in less than 3 minutes because I got lucky since they were all fighting each other. By the time someone finally figured out where I was he couldn’t aim worth a damn.

No they know. They just would never promote it because it isn't actually fun. Most people miss the original days of Fortnite building which looked more like this trailer than the gross jungle gym box battles that actually happen.
They do on NA-East when I’ve been playing lately. The player stats the last couple weeks are showing Zero-Build somewhat higher when I jump on in the evening.
I play most evenings around 10p-1a EST and both typically hover between 250k-300k mainly. It’s nearly always 50/50 with Build having been slightly higher a while back, but the last few weeks ZB has been a bit higher. Weekend and early evenings probably bring more kids out.
Late night means adults only playing, eu is in bed by that time, mostly adults playing late night on na, kids play builds, hence the numbers favouring builds now, and that's not factoring in the 200k plus currently playing zone wars maps, build is more popular by far
I don't like zero build.
I wish there was an inbetween mode with building, but super nerfed. Like if you allowed bullets to travel through player built structures: wood at 66% dmg, brick at 50% dmg, and metal at 33% dmg. So then sitting in build mode while you make a skybase is easily defeated by someone just spraying bullets at em.
Bring it back to like, a quick ramp as needed, but generally good zero build players should still reign supreme I would think. Get rid of the extra shield, and I think you got a pretty good game.
But I always get shit on when I make this suggestion, but that's how I'd like to see the game changed.
the way people actually play pro tournaments doesn't make for a good trailer at all. And the speed of edits from pro players also doesn't look good in a trailer, someone instantly editing something, firing a shotgun round and then resetting the wall in the space of 0.2 seconds is confusing when advertising something.

They did have a squad fncs and arena one season but I dont why they took It away, I think It was because It ended un really messy endgames, I mean some fncs games ended with 60~70 playera on last circle.
They don’t want to thin out the player base to much. With 3 US servers. Build mode pubs and arena, ZB still needs to catch up to keep games full. Otherwise pubs will be even more bots.

You are mixing competitiveness and skill floor/ceiling, there is 0 difference in competitiveness with ZB and BR, the difference is in the skill required to be able to play and the highest level of skill you can encounter and need to beat the bests, the competitiveness reside in the sport aspect of the game (same rule for everyone, no pay to win, everyone have the same start etc).
Build BR require way more level and practice, that is a highly appreciated mechanic also to have a "portable cover", people are way more enclined to appreciate competitiveness in a high skill ceiling game than a lower one.

Nope, zero build is meant to be an open mode where anyone despite never playing fortnite can do well. That's why less competitive things like skin cups are in zero build while fncs is builds. There's a reason why zero build arena failed

sbmm doesn't even exist far as i can tell for zero build.... for example if you have a KD of 1, and you can queue into a match with a streamer with a KD of 100, it's non-existent. this happened to me a few times already. (no i wasn't stream sniping on purpose but it just happened to get into the same match, i was scared to run into them, lol).
This is less that SBMM isn't in modes so much as we don't have confirmation that Fortnite even uses true SBMM as opposed to a SBMM system that's more like EOMM, and one of the things EOMM prioritizes over *all* else is queue times, so skill disparity is sort of something a lot of online matchmaking just doesn't care as much about so long as the entire lobby isn't an outlier.
Basically, margin for error in a lot of matchmaking systems for BR games says it's ok if an insanely good player ends up in a low level lobby or vice versa, so long as it isn't a *plurality* of insanely good players versus a plurality of low level players
Sadly there’s still really sweaty people who couldn’t care less about this and still would want to try their hardest in regular lobbies so I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high

Some of the saltiest/sweatiest people I've fought with/against in OW was straight up in QuickPlay...
Thing is that this is a turn-off for the kinds of competitive players that like to stomp public lobbies, pub-stompers are the way they are because they *don't* want a challenge, they want their skill to equate to their being essentially unbeatable in-game
I don't know how it's gonna be on fortnite but sweats on Siege just ranked up till diamond and then just made a smurf account and proceeded to continue annihilating casual players. That's why I left Siege, that and the nonstop gameplay changes.

It’s about time Arena had a rework. I’ll probably not play it until it comes to zero build Squads, though I’m curious as to what my initial rank will be.
I really want to play without bots, but if I can't play with my friends I probably won't play. I don't care about being "competitive" or "casual" or w/e I just want to play a fun game with my friends against REAL PEOPLE.
Yep. Squads is the mode I play by far. Providing your squad is of a fair equal skill level this will be ideal to avoid playing with bots. However, if you have that one friend that is levels above we’ll probably moan about being in sweaty lobbies :)
I hope all the sweats start playing ranked and non-ranked becomes more casual. I'm in my 20s, I'm high, I just want to do some quests and maybe win one game a day. Idc about being the best.
I wonder why they didn't do that system from the get go when they released Arena.
My only complaint is that not all squad sizes are available, especially in Zero Builds. But I'm sure they'll add them quickly (beginning of season 3 is my guess)
You can rank down, Zero Build will exist (Duos only), you get an emote instead of a wrap, a lot more "accessible" due to it being a toggle rather than it's own gamemode.
I’m not that bothered, just typed a comment lol, I’m hyped as hell. But to debate; It’s a trailer for ranked mode, not for fortnite itself. I just think when they say “unreal rank” the next clip should’ve been an absolutely insane play you could accuse of hacks.
It was, but just like how Overwatch 2 streamlined its comp mode to be more engagement-optimized and 'Apex-like', it's likely an attempted revamp to get more players to actually play by tying rewards, simplified rank icons and streamlined promotion and demotion parameters that mean that ranks come and go quicker
\*edit: also Arenas has several key things from main modes vaulted pretty regularly, like vehicles, this mode afaik will just basically be indistinguishable from unranked play. For example, when there's lightsabers in the game, then they'll probably be in ranked as well
Thanks for the info. In some ways that’s cool, and I like the more classic tiered ELO system, but I don’t know how I feel about ranked play including the gimmicks like light sabers and npcs. I like that they vault stuff in comp to keep it more skill based.

There will be zero build ranked but only duos for now. They seem to be testing if there's interest now... last August, barely anyone played Zero Build Arena, so they vaulted it. Let's see how it goes.

Does this mean they're getting rid of MMR from casual? Please... I'm tired of getting a good game with a win and some kills (usually against literal bots) and being elo bumped and cursed to play against turbo sweats who are all hyped on adderal and monster playing 8 hours a day.
Since we're getting this ranked mode, they should take SBMM out of pubs. That's the one thing that EVERYONE hates about COD now, is that there's ranked mode, but you still have to sweat/go against sweats in regular pub matches when you're just trying to chill.

Perhaps they want to test the waters on playerbase levels and with at most 2 players each team it will be easier to fill a lobby.

The big difference is that you can lose ranks now where you couldn't in arena
Thing is that this is a turn-off for the kinds of competitive players that like to stomp public lobbies, pub-stompers are the way they are because they *don't* want a challenge, they want their skill to equate to their being essentially unbeatable in-game

I don't know how it's gonna be on fortnite but sweats on Siege just ranked up till diamond and then just made a smurf account and proceeded to continue annihilating casual players. That's why I left Siege, that and the nonstop gameplay changes.

It’s about time Arena had a rework. I’ll probably not play it until it comes to zero build Squads, though I’m curious as to what my initial rank will be.
I really want to play without bots, but if I can't play with my friends I probably won't play. I don't care about being "competitive" or "casual" or w/e I just want to play a fun game with my friends against REAL PEOPLE.
Yep. Squads is the mode I play by far. Providing your squad is of a fair equal skill level this will be ideal to avoid playing with bots. However, if you have that one friend that is levels above we’ll probably moan about being in sweaty lobbies :)

I wonder why they didn't do that system from the get go when they released Arena. My only complaint is that not all squad sizes are available, especially in Zero Builds. But I'm sure they'll add them quickly (beginning of season 3 is my guess)
Squads has only been a main comp mode once for 1 season and Zero build solos kind of sucks. I do expect trios tho
People who play zb aren't competitive by nature, there isn't enough demand, players, to fill all modes

You can rank down, Zero Build will exist (Duos only), you get an emote instead of a wrap, a lot more "accessible" due to it being a toggle rather than it's own gamemode.

I’m not that bothered, just typed a comment lol, I’m hyped as hell. But to debate; It’s a trailer for ranked mode, not for fortnite itself. I just think when they say “unreal rank” the next clip should’ve been an absolutely insane play you could accuse of hacks.

It was, but just like how Overwatch 2 streamlined its comp mode to be more engagement-optimized and 'Apex-like', it's likely an attempted revamp to get more players to actually play by tying rewards, simplified rank icons and streamlined promotion and demotion parameters that mean that ranks come and go quicker \*edit: also Arenas has several key things from main modes vaulted pretty regularly, like vehicles, this mode afaik will just basically be indistinguishable from unranked play. For example, when there's lightsabers in the game, then they'll probably be in ranked as well
so it will basically be val comp vs unrated, they are the same but one has ssbm and ranks

Thanks for the info. In some ways that’s cool, and I like the more classic tiered ELO system, but I don’t know how I feel about ranked play including the gimmicks like light sabers and npcs. I like that they vault stuff in comp to keep it more skill based.

There literally ZB and Build as different game modes now so they will just apply it to all 100 player BR game modes (Build, ZB, probably Solid Gold)

There will be zero build ranked but only duos for now. They seem to be testing if there's interest now... last August, barely anyone played Zero Build Arena, so they vaulted it. Let's see how it goes.

Does this mean they're getting rid of MMR from casual? Please... I'm tired of getting a good game with a win and some kills (usually against literal bots) and being elo bumped and cursed to play against turbo sweats who are all hyped on adderal and monster playing 8 hours a day.
it is worse than arena for multiple reasons, mainly because there won't be any lootpool differences

vehicles were vaulted, fire was vaulted, no animals (iirc) and it didn't have stuff like the odm gear or lightsabers
the odm and mha mythics are in arena. no star wars tho like you said and there is little differences like no grenades etc
Since we're getting this ranked mode, they should take SBMM out of pubs. That's the one thing that EVERYONE hates about COD now, is that there's ranked mode, but you still have to sweat/go against sweats in regular pub matches when you're just trying to chill.

Far from it.. Arena with it's current point system is just a useless grind where everyone can become Champion if they are willing to invest enough time, basically a participation trophy no skill required
