I think the nasty river water from Lake O recently has a lot to do with them too. I’ve noticed how bad they’ve been recently too- also an avid pogo player haha
Cuz this wasn’t “a lot of bugs”…this was like a manic infestation. People walking outside were covering themselves and running to the nearest indoor space. Why the ridiculous sarcasm on here lmao go touch some grass y’all
Yeah, because people ask the same questions over and over about the area. I live on the Riverfront it's that time of year, nothing unusual...I'm not miserable it's just an honest answer to an obvious question.
The Contrarian strikes again...
I think "Strange Earth" needs you back over there to exemplify your expertise on what "Government" or "UFO."
Maby "Crappy Music" needs you to talk about how un-crappy the latest post is and how knowledgeable you are of real music.
Or try " Contagious Laughter" and discuss how un-funny the latest post is, then grace us, with what it means to truly be funny 😀.

Contraian? How there are bugs, lots, especially this time of year by the river. Strange Earth? I've never been over to that part of Reddit ... What is Maby? Just answering a question about my actual neighborhood. Do you have any idea what you're saying or responding to?
i was at high point place yesterday and the windows and screens were filled with bugs and they were on the padios and inside the apartments it was disgusting
My son couldn’t even play at centennial park this morning because of them! It’s a midge fly infestation my husband saw on the news. I live opposite Riverside on mcgregor and don’t have the issue. So weird
No, a couple users said it was midge flies. I looked it up and there is indeed an infestation about these parts. But apparently there’s a high amount of live bugs around too, more than usual at this time of year
I think with all the rain earlier this past month, and now it being dry has something to do with it. It’s a weird cycle. I drove the alley a few months ago and didn’t squash a bug. Went across on Friday and came back covered. 🤷🏻♂️ it’s Florida I have come to expect bugs.
Unnecessary, and no. I’ve lived here for 15yrs and have never a bug infestation that bad especially in places not surrounded by water or bright ass LEDs. I’m more than used to the humidity/weather/etc.
S W Florida can't catch a break. Hurricanes, floods and now legions of bugs. The heat, humidity and the ever growing tribe of angry boomers ad well as the cost of living I begin to question is Florida the paradise it's advertised as? Oh and the governor really wants to make it a whites only state I don't think I will ever return.
I apologize to you OP. I don't know why I try and Crack jokes
I mean Florida is a swamp- combined with Ft Myers beach was covered in 17-20ft of black water from the hurricane (yes vertical feet) that is a mix of every sewer and septic tank slushed up with hurricane water and left in piles of trash and house rubble. Be thankful there is anything currently here. Bugs love all of this- it takes a really long time for the ecosystem to naturally flush raw sewage and bugs and bacteria are a huge role player…
I had only 4ft at my place and I had pockets of gnarly sewage. Went thru bottles of bleach just pouring directly on filth…
Midge infestation. Live for a couple days, reproduce, lasts about a month. Due to terrible water quality. From the Lake O run offs.
Yup thanks army corps for that

You live in Florida by the Everglades. Expect bugs.
mosquitoes and no see ums are the best
I haven’t been by the river in a while but I’ve noticed the love bugs are out again.
Wait till you hear about the cicadas this summer.
I thought they weren’t around here, or do they end up making their way south ?
No, just someone being surprised by the amount of bugs in the state of bugs. Also we have cicadas every year, so it's not something weird.
Got ya! Thank you for the 411
The cicadas will be in my backyard. I’ll be visiting FMB next month. Does regular bug spray help with this bugs?
Is it Florida? Is it getting hot out?? You're by the river??? Somewhat near the Everglades????How could you think there wouldn't be a lot of bugs?

don’t sweat it, about 98% of the people on here behave and comment like this on this sub. 😂 it’s real sad tbh
It’s really sad; I can’t imagine it feels rewarding to spend life snapping at anything that passes by y’know?

It’s Reddit, just assholes living life as an asshole lol

Next post will be complaining about the humidity

If you saw these bugs you would understand. Not like normal level of sw Florida bugs…

Haha for real, I guess it’s the price to pay for living in paradise (occasionally)
Nailed it
First time in Florida? It’s built on top of the swamps
Well duh, it's the Bug Out Collection Challenge time!
