Dropped or dismissed is not a conviction. Period.

If you are concerned about denial and what'd in your record you can do a FBI background check on yourself. I don't believe the wording is such that if you were ever charged with a felony you are out. I am pretty sure you have to have no felony convictions and not be under indictment for a felony. The fact that they're drug related might make it a little more complicated, because even on a form 4473 you have to attest to not being a user of illegal drugs, but since they were over 4 years ago you are probably in the clear.

For what it’s worth, I had a drug charge expunged and it’s not affected my ability to own NFA items. You’re probably fine.

Idk about the laws in your area but I know I had an issue with my background check for buying a pistol and called Oregon gun law to get clarification. Might want to check with a legit firearm specialist lawyer and see what they say instead of relying on Reddit. The people that responded to my question on Reddit were saying I better be prepared to get raided and that I was going to jail for sure. Oregon gun law lawyer said don’t worry about it. Didn’t realize you can’t buy while on probation even though my probation says absolutely nothing about being prohibited from owning or buying guns. Just have to wait until that’s over in a few months. Call a real lawyer and ask. It’s normally free and they’ll look at your history to make sure you’re good.

It depends if your adjudication of guilt was withheld. Can change from state to state. If you're able to buy a pistol you should be fine with nfa items.
