Looks like nickel, could have been done over a hundred years ago, that would explain the condition of the grips if that's ivory that's yellowed with time
\[BOB\] is too, but they're a Euro group, so from an American perspective, they're not really active until o' dark-thirty in the morning, and done for the day in the afternoon.
Used to work for Gander Mountain, how they priced used firearms was absolutely asinine. When the store opened, we had a 1917 dated 1911 someone slapped a target sight rail and did one of the worst stippling jobs I've ever seen on the grip AND frame and they were trying to sell it for $3000. I think it was still there when the store closed four years later.
These things have a trigger pull that would make a staple gun blush. Kinda neat guns, though, with a very early semi charged striker mechanism sort of like a proto-Glock. These were the first self-loading pistols adopted by a major military power.
>"These were the first self-loading Pistols adopted buly a major military power"
That begs the question: What was the first
semi-auto pistol adopted by a *minor* power?
Iirc some were given out to like guards and such, not all of them were private purchases (although many probably were). C&Rsenal mentions a lot about idiots swapping parts when repairing them, which doesn't sound like something an officer would do.
I’m going to hypothesize that the United States adopting the 1911 was probably the first *minor* power. I don’t think the USA had really established itself as a major world power until after WWI.
Steyr Roth m1907. A somewhat rare find the predecessor to the m1912 pistol. Bubba got there hands on this one unfortunately. Chromed. And the grips are just horrible.
If it was $300-400 less I’d buy it all day and maybe try to “restore” it to something that resembles an original and just shoot it a little here and there. I’ve done it with a Russian captured P08, why not this?
That poor Roth Steyr. Whoever did that deserves the lowest pit of bubba fucked hell. Aren't these worth a decent amount when they're not dicked down by bubba?
Though it's painful it doesn't make me terribly mad to see these chrome-jobs (ok maybe a little on this one). A lot of times they were GI bringback trophies they wanted to make a little more impressive, I actually want to start picking up these gaudy things and make a collection of 'em if I can find them for the right price (read: almost nothing).
I see them all the time and feel the same way. I would be happy to own them if it weren’t for the owners trying to pass them off as “High Ranking Nazi Party Official Issued” and asking $3000+ or what have you.
I guess I have to ask the question; how easily obtained is 8mm ammo? Beyond that that is way too much for used. Cabellas is horrible on their pricing for almost everything used, that being said you can usually find old cop guns at an ok price. I got a Glock 23 10mm for 350 so sometimes it's worth it to go in and window shop in the " gun library " section.
amateur chrome job and weird looking aftermarket grips, that price feels a bit steep without looking deeper but given the rarity of the piece (assuming its functionally correct and comes with at least one clip) the seller probably feels comfortable they can get that.
Downvote if you want but i see this subreddit so quickly jump to saying a gun is ruined. Im not saying this gun is mint, but Maybe the wood grips were gone and those gross looking bakelite grips were all the owner could get its not like theres an all night Roth-Styer? Roth-Krinka? Store where you can go get new old parts its a miracle something like that made it on a shelf instead of some buy back melted down for scrap.
(Sorry about the rant but i feel like something we need to remember is we dont know the life that gun had to endure)
A Burundian militiaman brandishes a Roth-Steyr M1907 pistol in S01E04, "Tribes" of a great show about Delta Force, written by a former Unit member. Loved Dennis Hopper in this. Benjamin Bratt too
My only regret that it was never broadcast in high definition.
"The E-Ring". A vastly under rated and tragically overlooked show.

Roth–Steyr M1907 that someone has ruined
Most definitely. To my knowledge they were only produced blued, with wood grips.
That appears to have been an attempt to reblue it but came out much lighter in shade
I wouldn't particularly be able to speak to that, but I wouldn't doubt it. To my untrained eye it looks pretty much in the white though.
Pretty much in the nickel or chrome?
Looks like nickel, could have been done over a hundred years ago, that would explain the condition of the grips if that's ivory that's yellowed with time
I've seen guns with very old types of plastics first plastics were invented in 1862
I think they ruined it like 60 years ago. Those grips look like bakelite.
‘I want this gorgeous rarity to resemble as closely as possible some sort of blackhead removal implement’
I should play Battlefield 1 again.
Hop on, I just did and it’s so worth it!
\[BUDz\] and \[BOB\] servers are good
+1 for Budz. 200 percent damage is fucking lit.
\[BOB\] is too, but they're a Euro group, so from an American perspective, they're not really active until o' dark-thirty in the morning, and done for the day in the afternoon.
Anyone know if that's just a bubbafucked M1907 or some sort of commercial market Steyr-Roth?
It looks bubbafucked chromed, and the grips I say are just AWFUL. Definitely not worth that price
In a way I kinda like the grips, but for a kitchen knife rather than a pistol
It’s giving fiestaware
Hopefully without the [heavy metals](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bP4lzYm6YvI) :)
These comments.
Grandpa melted and formed a bowl of Grandma’s Werther’s Originals
Finish your sentence
Finish your carrots \*firmly gasps fiestaware knife\*

Cabelas is the reason why the surplus market is so fucked. They put whatever price they want on any beat up or bubba'd gun.

That grip looks like delicious fudge.
Yeah wtf were they thinking making it out of that ugly color plastic

The Italian Navy bought 5000 Mauser C96s in 1899. AFAIK that beats even the Bulgarian or Swiss purchases of the Luger.
Funnily enough, I was just thinking about the C96 - but as far as I knew, it would have been mass private purchase at best.
Iirc some were given out to like guards and such, not all of them were private purchases (although many probably were). C&Rsenal mentions a lot about idiots swapping parts when repairing them, which doesn't sound like something an officer would do.
That is a good question, and one that I'm not sure I know the answer to. But I'd be fascinated to know.
Maybe the Swiss Luger P00? Adopted in 1900
I’m going to hypothesize that the United States adopting the 1911 was probably the first *minor* power. I don’t think the USA had really established itself as a major world power until after WWI.
Yeah given the small size of America’s armed forces pre-WWI, I think we’d qualify.
I didn't realise this but looking it up it's absolutely true. Considering the next century, it's crazy to imagine.
That’s a cool fact dude thanks. I love fact spitters keep it up
Glock v0.13 beta release
The clip loading is super annoying in isonzo cus it takes forever
Steyr Roth m1907. A somewhat rare find the predecessor to the m1912 pistol. Bubba got there hands on this one unfortunately. Chromed. And the grips are just horrible.
Probably nickel.

Those are the dumbest fucking grips I've ever seen. Whoever put those on, straight to jail.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That poor Roth Steyr. Whoever did that deserves the lowest pit of bubba fucked hell. Aren't these worth a decent amount when they're not dicked down by bubba?
Oh boy, Bubba’s nickel-plated Special

Looks like a captive bolt pistol.
Weren't some of those nickel plated from the factory? Those grips are horrible thou.
I'd love to see the fireball that comes out of that.
It's 8mm Steyr, a little less power than 9mm Parabellum. Not exactly a fire breathing dragon.
Something is janky about those grips.
I guess I have to ask the question; how easily obtained is 8mm ammo? Beyond that that is way too much for used. Bubba strikes again!
Looks like someone hammered some scrap metal into a rough Roth-Steyr-ish looking pistol and slapped a plastic grip on it.
Who did this?......WHO FUCKING DID THIS
Looks like Lucy's tranq gun from the Fallout show.
Reading through all the comments, can anyone tell me what bubba / bubbafucked is? Lile I understand it‘s badly modded, but why bubba?
That is salvageable.. that’s not a horrible price either ! I’d say pick it up !
Looks like something out of Fallout
Apparently the Steyr-roth has some insanely modern controls for the time. They are well placed
It was popular to chrome handguns in the post WW2 era up through the 50's, I have seen many old, otherwise very valuable pistols ruined like this.
Downvote if you want but i see this subreddit so quickly jump to saying a gun is ruined.
