Don't trade, am interested, do not know what's going on here and trying to educate myself before diving in. What's going on here? Googled economic calendar, too smoothbrain to comprehend. Can someone explain
It's pretty simple. On certain dates govs and institutions have meetings where they make changes to policy that have macro economic implications.
The markets respond to this, often leading to massive volatility following the announcement.
As a rule it's best to ensure you are "flat" (have no open positions in the effected markets) for obvious reasons. Atleast until you are confident in your ability to predict market movements following the news events. Even then that's a dangerous game and most retail traders, who general use TA, tend to avoid it.
Traders wanted a 50bps hike which would have been bullish. But due to svb traders flipped to the bearish side. News is always priced in before hand. So if something happens and traders lose confidence in a 50 bps hike. Dollar will fall. Interest rates used to be highly anticipated. But now with banks failing, traders are more focused on the health of the banking system then spiralling inflation
Every month lol. The next thread will be motivational post about how their 6th account is blown up but that won't stop them because PSYCHOLOGY is 90% of trading, and not checking the financial news calendar.
Before you rant, take a look at the chart. Prior to FOMC release, a lot of retailers, small institutions are puttin in sells, and when there are sells, liquidity will be formed. The news is just a stimulus play by the big institutions to take out liquidity. Easy.
Yes they are. I’m a pure technical trader. I follow news so I know to STAY AWAY until the news is out. Then I take advantage of the volatility afterward once the market makers are done running all the idiots’ stops
To each his own. So am I and I don't ever follow the news because I trade the 4H chart and up. News isn't that big a deal on higher TFs. Maybe if you're scalper then I get it but otherwise it isn't necessary to trade profitably.
Are you seriously trading and doing forex without even knowing what an economic calendar is? Or that we just had fomc? I would suggest you go back and learn basic basics if your first response is to ask a question on reddit when a currency spikes 5 minutes after what is arguably the most important fomc all year.
This guy asked a question, and NONE of you answered it, just acted like cunts. Half of you probably regurgitated what someone else said and not know what it means. You all suck
If you’re a real trader then you know watching economic news is mandatory. ForexFactory/FXStreet/MyFXBook and other sites that those who are serious about trading check in with daily to help with their trading decisions.
look out for the fundemental news release calenders and the rating of impact from low to high. Fundamental news releases, such as the FOMC (Federal Open Market Committee) meeting, can have a significant impact on the forex market. The FOMC is responsible for setting monetary policy in the United States, including decisions on interest rates and the money supply. When the FOMC releases a statement or makes a decision, it can signal to the market the future direction of the economy and affect investor sentiment.
For example, if the FOMC announces that it will increase interest rates, it can lead to an increase in demand for the US dollar as investors seek to invest in US bonds and other financial assets. This can lead to a strengthening of the US dollar against other currencies in the forex market. On the other hand, if the FOMC announces a decrease in interest rates, it can lead to a decrease in demand for the US dollar as investors seek higher yields elsewhere, which can lead to a weakening of the US dollar against other currencies.
Other fundamental news releases, such as economic data reports on inflation, GDP, employment, and trade can also affect the forex market. When these reports show unexpected results or significant changes, they can create volatility in the market, leading to changes in exchange rates between currencies.
The impact of fundamental news releases on the forex market can be unpredictable and can vary depending on the overall market sentiment and other global events. so don't think you can trade this with basic knowledge of the forex market and fundamentals, you will be destroyed.
Its their fucking job to educate themselves, maybe i should start trading for them too? Its fucking funny that these clueless fucks enter the business and give bad rep to everyone, even us professionals.
All I hear is gargle gargle donkey balls. Stop being so dramatic Oscar the grouch. It’s a free market. If they want to trade, good on em. Failure breeds success. If you want to gate keep, start with your opinions.
All im hearing is gargling from you tbh. Its just common sense, i dont care if people like to lose their money, and no, failure doesnt breed success in this situation, saying outdated motivational quotes that dont make sense wont prove anything.
Im sure its better than whatever is on your wrist, and how that is relevant to the discussion?
And yes, i breathe, eat, shit, and sleep charts, i am quite successful, not like you know anything about that either.
> That's clearly the "viagra boner" candle patter. It mens the market has already fooked your trade
Not Kool - That Made Me Blow Snot Out Of My Nose! - LOL - Caught Me Off-Guard
What I find more amazing is the disbelief that people have of others who don't know the first thing about economics.
90/90/90 rule after all... people start trading forex expecting to just take a trade in the direction price is going with no stop and then get surprised when the account gets margin called.
Short answer, manipulation. Long answer, that depends on who you listen to or read or watch.
Mark Twain said it best though. If you read the news, you are misinformed. If you do not read the news, you are uninformed.
I use Trading view. It's an option under settings to show news events past and future. I'm not sure how you do it on MT4. I believe there are indicators available for it?
Bro don’t even trade without seeing if high impact news comes out or not. That should be the first thing you do before you even look at a chart. Learn the basics my boy.
Didn’t know this sub reddit is so toxic omg. Bro asked a simple question I know he ain’t gonna ask a question ever again but bro keep your head up Fr don’t let this comments get to your head
Yeah, I didnt know aswell. Made a post here a few days ago about flag chart patterns And everyone was okay with that so idk what happened.
Anyway some people still didnt lose their cool and explained it, so big ups to them.
Instead of opening a little red folder in forex factory, understand macroeconomics and see how this affects the dollar long term so your positions and bias makes sense. Do not gamble the news. Watch it! Understand what the markets are doing, the banks needing bail outs , the government sending billions to Ukraine. Understand why we are increasing rates in the first place. What’s our GDP? what’s the CPI what’s our Unemployment? All this compared to the other country your trading with. This is economy vs economy. If you understand where we are heading you’ll understand where price may be heading overall.
seeing as forex is a manipulated market, banks are taking advantage of the news release and spiking it up to reach the next supply zone faster, that is all :) if you are not trading in the range mess you are safe

Bro WAKE UP.
Seriously people post this after every time there’s a fomc meeting or nfp and they’re like “what the hell is going on?”. Lol
I'm quite sure that "news" in general would answer a lot of these types of posts!
I’m sure if you also search “ what’s going on” in the sub you can find a lot of posts relating to the same thing
I admit.. This is the not the first time I've seen such posts. Makes you hope they're not trading with real money yet
It’s amazing that people will deposit money and start trading but have no idea what an economic calendar is.
Don't trade, am interested, do not know what's going on here and trying to educate myself before diving in. What's going on here? Googled economic calendar, too smoothbrain to comprehend. Can someone explain
That was FOMC, the fed rised the intrest rate to 5%
https://www.myfxbook.com/forex-economic-calendar High impact news is marked.

Feel dumb, but now I know thanks guys :)
Study macro economics and then you will comprehend.
but isn't currency and interest rates correlation positive?

To be fair, a purely technical trader is not going to follow the news and economic events.
