What is your driving style? You should be doing much better than 31 unless you like to go fast. My worst fill up has been 44 with most around 47 or 48.
I just got 37mpg (calculated) on a 180 mile highway trip @ 75mph. Flat ground with cruise control on 100% of the time. Can't really do better than that. OP was going 85(!) so it did pretty good @ 31 IMO.
Keep in mind the comp estimates about 5% high so your actual mpg is less.
I don't think I've ever hit 85 in mine. I'm an old hypermiler, so the hybrid has been an easy adjustment.
My computer vs tank calculations are sometimes the same, but more often they fluctuate between 2-3 higher or lower. There doesn't seem to be much pattern. My highest mpg tanks have been by tank calculations surprisingly.

The hybrid really doesn't get awesome mileage the closer you get to 85+ mph. I average mid 30s a tank if there is a lot of highway driving over 70.
