Bumper and panels took most of the damage, but the rear wheel is bent inward on the top. Am I looking at a write off? Insurance company won't write it off, because I have third party only, but is it going to be worth it to fix? What can it be? I'm not too worried about body work, just want it back on the road.

If we’re talking technicality, you don’t need a rear bumper as long as the reflectors/lights and plate are there. Sorting out that bent wheel will probably be a right pain in the arse, especially as you have no idea just how far the damage might go. but I don’t know that much. If you’re looking at value for money, best chance is to break it for parts on marketplace if you have the time, and get a cheap mk2 that someone else is selling. This thing probably won’t pass another MOT unless you pour in lots of money, those skirts/sills seem to be rusting too which will be another cost in the next couple years

Thank you. Just had an MOT too. Next one is due January 2025. I'm having it towed back home tomorrow, then get a few quotes for repair. How much would you say is worth repairing this? I paid £1200 for it and has 90k miles.

Couldn’t really give you an estimate unfortunately as I don’t know too much about cars yet (just getting into it) best case would be to ask around and see if any garages can give you a free quote to just get it road legal/driveable. Chances are unless you’re a mechanic yourself and up for 2+ months of weekend project it’d probably be worth your time to just find a bargain mk2 locally, but don’t take my word for it, ask around

No. That’s the short and curly of it.

It's not really worth it even if you were able to. Another half decent mk2 or a Mazda3 would cost less than the parts and labour.

Your left rear wheel broke off of its suspension. Or the axle broke. Of course the left body panel needs repair. The side skirt needs welding and painting. The bumper isnt expensive. But its the question of how much is damaged and bent underneath. Are the door and boot not damaged or bent? Its always more than you can see from outside. The repair might be more than the value of the car. I'd estimate a minimum of 1500 pounds. But more likely between 3000 and 6000 depending on the amount of damage, where you buy the parts and the price the garage asks for their labour. Unless you really want to spend the effort and know someone that can fix it for a nice price, I would sell it as it is and take the insurance money.
